Hi,
You're welcome
Try using Recovery Manager to reinstall the IDT Audio Driver - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the document on the link below.
Recovery Manager - Windows Vista
After the reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook.

  • Print screen and Function "fn" key not working.Mute button stays red constantly.

    Hi,
I bought an hp pavilion dv6-2154ca two weeks ago. It has windows 7 64-bit, nvidia Geforce 210m 1Gb graphics card, and my function "fn" key is not working at all. I downloaded the quick launch buttons driver a few days ago, according to the advice of an hp advisor, so any suggestions on how to get my fn key working.
My mute button stays red, even when the volume is on and i'm watching videos. This problem didn't exist until i downloaded the audio driver.
My print screen key doesn't work either, i got to know it when i was trying to print screen images for school work.
    Thanks.

    Woudl advise a BIOS upgrade when downgrading to Windows XP, the European BIOS driver for your version of notebook is;
    [BIOS upgrade |http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?service=UK&selCategory =2&selFamily=2&selSeries=178&selProduct=784&selSho rtMod=null&language=13&selOS=10&selType=all&yearup load=&monthupload=&dayupload=&useDate=null&mode=al lMachines&search=&action=search&macId=&country=8&s electedLanguage=13&type=all&page=1&ID=65754&OSID=-1&driverLanguage=42]
    When the BIOS has been installed, re-install the Hotkeys/Controls driver on the link below;

    Hi,
The functionality of the mute button is provided by the IDT Audio software so the problem may be that Windows 8 has installed a reference driver that does not contain this.  Often, the Windows 7 version works Ok, so I'd try downloading and installing the following IDT driver.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp48501-49000/sp48830.exe
After the installation has completed, restart the notebook.

  • HP Probook 4520s: sound card doesn't work (no sound, red mute button)

    Нello!
I have an issue with my HP Probook 4520s. Its internal speakers  and microphone doesn't work. I've tried to install and reinstall drivers from here, tried to rollback driver to older version but I always have the same result: installed the IDT sound codec, and after a restart, the mute button  turned red and I cannot switch it.
    Soundcard device ID: HDAUDIO\FUNK_01&VEN_111&DEV_7605
    OS: Windows 7 Professional x86
    How can I fix it?

Hi, just registered to post my solution. I got HP ProBook 4330s in for repair. Problem: some sticky liquid spilled all over and no sound. Also discovered that no microphone as well, but webcam did work just fine.
    What I tried:
    1) Installed fresh Win 7 Ultimate 32-bit and all official drivers (audio driver did not want to install), still no sound. Sound icon shows red cross. Message: No audio output device installed.
    1) Installed the newest version of BIOS, in my case F.40, still no sound.
    2) Pluged in headphones, still no sound.
    3) Took apart, unpluged and firmly inserted every possbile cable, still no sound.
    4) Found in BIOS everything that relates to Audio. Made sure Audio device is enable, still no sound.
    5) Install XP and installed XP sound driver, still no sound. In fact, that driver did not install correctly, showed some kind of error.
What did work, in consecutive order:
    1) Took apart again and took out the coin battery that retains the BIOS data, date, clock etc.
    2) Put everything back together, switched on, entered the correct date in BIOS settings, and started Win 7 Ultimate. Still no sound. But I noticed that Win 7 Ultimate has found some devices and was installing drivers for it. Though did not check exactly which ones.
    3) If I could not get the sound working I was determined to buy some speakers with USB connection. Then, I remembered that I already had a set of speakers for another laptop. These speakers had USB connection to draw power from and a grean standard headphone connection/plug to draw audio signal. I plugged in these speakers into HP 4330s and the sound started coming from these external speakers. The sound icon next to the clock in bottom right corner switched to normal mode and I could control volume with my mouse. Then I unpluged external USB speakers and the sound started coming from the HP's built in speakers.
Checked with Device Manager that correct sound drivers are installed and microhpone appeared to be installed as well. Though did not check with Skype if microhpone was working.
I was soooo happy!!! I struggled with this problem for three long days, searched many forums (none gave solution), tried everything with drivers, took apart the laptop some three or four times (now I learned to do it with my eyes closed, so to speak).
I started to think that taking out the BIOS/date coin battery did the trick. There must be some glitch in BIOS to motherboard connection in these HP ProBook laptops, and all BIOS settings need to be reset.
I'll be happy if this helps someone.

I have a HP Pavilion DV6 laptop S/N CNF0220252   P/N NW973PA#ABG   Model 1130TX.  Just spent AUS$120 to ge this sorted out as nothing worked. When I toook it in to my local computer shop I informed then that he MUTE light was on RED and that I had no sound. By the  time I got it back on the Saturday afternoon and saw the problem was still there and that the font sizw as at 126 DPI, tosay I was annoyed and angry was an understatement. After a few hours I found out how to re-set the font to 96 DPI which means my desktop looks neat and tidy. However the MUTE light is still showing RED and I havent found a way to sort that problem out  .Any help would be greatly appreciated, short of taking it back to the people who were supposed to have fixed this problem and wrapping it around their heads.  At times I regret having bought a laptop as my previous desktops were never as much trouble as this laptop.
Another problem occured late last night and tha was when the monitor screen turned itself upside down. Tried eveything I had read to get ti back to normal and nothing worked. By this time I was dead tired, annoyed and ready to throw this in the bin. I picked the laptop p by the screen and threw it on the bed. Hey presto the upside down screen suddenly reverted back to the right side up. How ever the MUTE light hasnt been solved.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 speaker light stays red, unable to hear sound

I have a HP Pavilion Dv6 Notebook PC Product # QE071UA#ABA.  The light on the speaker button (F11) stays red when I tap on it, but I can see the sound bar and icon in the center of the screeen.  I am unable to use the mouse to adjust sound.  When I hover over the speaker Icon on the toolbar it says that no  speakers or headsets are plugged in. When I click on the icon, It tries to trouble shoot the problem, but itc an not  detect the problem.  I have shutdown the laptop. unplugged the AC and battery, held the power button down for 60 seconds, plugged the AC and battery back in and restarted the computer.  I have also ran a system restore back to before a critical update on 8/27/14.  So far nothing has helped.    The AMD high definition audio device states that it s working properly.   Laptop has Beats Audio.  Using Windows 7.
    Thank you for the help.

    Hi,
The AMD driver is just related to audio over an HDMI connection - for your main audio through the internal speakers or headphones, this is provided by the IDT HD audio driver, so try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52501-53000/sp52658.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device ( if it's listed ) and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shutdown the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f9 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f5, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

  • Pavillion dv6-6002ev is beeping on start up continuously

    Hello,
I have a problem with my laptop which is the Pavillion dv6-6002ev i5, operating system: Windows 7, error message: continues beep code at the start up, issues occurred: water was spilled through the keyboard, product LL053EA.
Actually I am not very proud of it but by mistake I spilled water on it through the keyboard. I immediately turned it off and I used the blow drier to dry it as much as I could..I removed even the keyboard and the memory cover from the back in order to be sure that all the water has gone.
After that I turned it on and in the start up there is a beep code ( I don’t have LED code at all) that is continues. If I press enter or another button then after awhile this sound stops for a while then starts again and then I have to choose from the Boot manager Windows7 and then starts.
Firstly the touchbad didn’t work but everything else worked fine (sounds, video, battery, processor). After 20 hours of the incident the touchbad started also to work but the light of the touchbad still does not work.
So the main problem is the loud sound at the beginning that doesn’t stop unless I use the boot manager to start the Windows.
I searched on the internet from the beginning and I saw that this beep code can only indicate a hardware problem so until now I have tried everything available on the internet to make this sound to stop (taken from here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01732674&tmp_task=solveCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc...)But nothing worked and everything seemed fine, memory tests passed and everything.
Also I used the DST tests that are available from this model (Hard drive, Memory, Battery) but all of them passed...
So really after doing everything and without being an expert on PCs I would like to ask is there anything more that I can do in order this sound to stop and before I have to take it to expert to fix it? And is it this sound really worrying?, can I use the laptop until I will get it fixed or its better to have it off?
Thank you in advance for your responses

    Hey ktassi !
Gosh I hate when that happens! I've been there myself and I know it's very frustrating.
The first thing I would recommend doing is turning the computer on and getting all of the personal files backed up. That would be my priority. If you already have everything saved externally, then there's no need to worry with that step. Now, there is back up software out there that you can use. However, I've found  that copying and pasting each folder individually over to an external hard drive/flashdrive or cloud service is a more reliable way of backing up your files.
Once you have everything backed up, you can troubleshoot. It would be helpful to know what the beep pattern is that you're hearing at power on. You did a great job finding that document. It has a key on it that will tell you what component is affected depending on the beep patter you hear. If all of the hardware components seem to be working OK, you could try reloading Windows. Although, I couldn't guarantee this would help since the beep code indicates a hardware problem, but it well worth a try.
Here are the steps to perform a System Recovery after you have backed up all of your files. From the blue links at the top, choose "Recovery from the startup screen (during system boot)". When the recovery is done, use your computer normally. Start it up and shut it down several times to see if it will detect any problems (which will cause it to emit a beep pattern again). If it does still beep after the recovery, there may be a minimal hardware issue. That malfunctioning hardware may need to be repaired/replaced before the notebook will stop beeping.
You could also try muting the PC Beep.
Right Click on the Speaker symbol in the system tray > Click Playback Devices > Right Click on 'Speakers'/'Speakers and Headphones' > Click Properties > Click the Levels Tab > Mute PC Beep.
This method should be used with caution though because if there ever were a serious hardware failure that would cause the computer to beep, you would be unaware of it, possibly until it was too late.
Let me know what the beep pattern is. Please let me know if you have any questions or if these suggestions help (this could help others with the same issues). I'll keep an eye out for your reply!

  • HP dv6-1030us webcam now dead after almost 5 years of laptop usage

I have HP Pavilion dv6-1030us Entertainment PC currently in Windows 8.1. I upgraded it's notebook factory OS (Vista) for almost 4 times now since I got this 5 years ago. I never had issues in webcam drivers everytime I switch from another Os to another (even the beta ones) until now. There is no any imaging devices installed in Device Manager. Also there is no webcam to be selected in Skype's option. Even in Windows 8 webcam app.  I had some issues on the camera before it's totally dead now. Captured video is blinking, webcam will be automatically turned off then I'll on it again (on Skype calls which the webcam is I mainly use) And since there no webcam driver on my product support page http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategoryos=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=38605...  (expect for the MediaSmart Webcam Software) I know this is no problem in my webcam driver. I red some few forum post about the same issue and some says it's Bad wiring or something since the notebook probably 5 years old now. Obviously my warranty is already ended so all I got is a help here in forums. Please if someone knows wehre to download the fricking driver, please told me where. I need help ASAP
PS: Also the AC port is already loosed so sometimes power fails (plugged in, no battery) and notebook will be accidentally offed . If this issue may contribute (theoretically) to webcam's hardware status now, please told me so
    PPS: Sorry for bad English

    Hi @PrinceKickster ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue of updating your HP Pavilion dv6-1030us Notebook and the Webcam not being seen in Imaging devices. Here is a document on fixing a Webcam after changing the OS. Here is a link to the Cyberlink Youcam software for Windows 8.
You should be able to click the action button and scan for new hardware  in your device manager.
Have you taken apart the Notebook at all?
    Hope this helps you.

  • Pavillion dv6-Had screen replaced on August 22, 2012 because it went black and would not come back o

Have a Pavillion dv6 for my teenage daughter.  We got it late December of 2011, so it's less than a year old.  On August 22, 2012, I just got it back from being repaired because the screen went black and would not come back on no matter what we did.  It came back with a teeny, tiny little black line way down at the bottom of the screen, didn't seem like a big enough problem to worry about so we kept it and she used it.  Last night when she went to bed it was working fine, today when she turned it on after getting home from school, the whole screen is a disaster---it looks like a big diagonal crack is running up the screen and it's a solid strip of color on one side and then lines and then the crack then you can see where the sign on logo is trying to run---kind of---rolling up the tiny part of the screen it is showing on.  Called customer support, which was a complete nightmare!  I used the first number that came up for hpsupport on google and it was iyogi-----could barely understand the woman on the other end, she kept having me tell her the problem over and over and over and over and telling her my name and phone number and email address and the serial number and the product number, over and over and over and over and over and over-----this went on forever---then she had me try pressing the f10 key and the power button and it gave 13 beeps and would go off, she had me put the phone up so she could hear that happen 6 times.  Then finally she says it;s a hardware problem and she will transfer me over to harware support after trying to sell me software protection that I don't want.  She transfers me, I get an automated system and damned if I don't get rolled right back to the same Indian woman and she starts me from scratch like she hadn't just talked to me 4 minutes before that-----I was furious!  I told her I had already been on the phone with her and told her all this information and she still had me give it to her 3 more times then said she would put me through to hardware support.  I spent 1 hour and 25 minutes on the phone total and almost all of it was with this woman that had no clue and barely spoke English.  Why?  I live in the USA, I bought the product in the USA, why can't I speak to customer support in the USA?  Why do I always have to talk to someone that I have a language barrier with?  Why do they always make me do the same thing over and over and over and keep me on the phone over an hour?  It was the same way in August when it needed repaired, I was on the phone that night 1 hour and 10 minutes.   Is the goal to get you to just forget it and go buy a new one?

iYogi is not part of HP. I would recommend calling 1-800-474-6836 or visiting http://goo.gl/Pru5A for all of your support needs with HP products.
