Pavillion G6 Laptop, wont turn on.

My laptop recently slipped out of my bag and onto the floor. It wasnt a hard hit (as it was in a protective case and not from a high distance) but now won't turn on.
When i press the power button, the light comes on along with the orange wireless light and i can hear the motor starting.. and then it turns off. About 15 seconds later it does it again- tries to turn on, the lights come on, the motor starts and then stops again.
I have tried doing the hard reset by unpluging the power adapter, taking out the battery and holding the power button down for up to a minute. It does the same thing when i try to turn it back on. I have tried doing the reset with the battery in (once ive held the power button down and pluged the power back in) and i have also tried without puting the battery back in.
HELP! Any suggestions?

It is possible that the RAM may have been loosed just enough by the drop (it doesn't take much). Have you tried removing and reseating the RAM?

  • HP Pavillion G6 laptop wont turn on or charge - battery light blinks three times - SOLVED

Ok So I was using my laptop on a regular basis. I shut it down the night prior by using the start shut down menu option. The next morning I went to turn it on and nothing. I did though see the side white light by the Ac adaptor plug in blink three times. I decided to purchase a new charger via ebay(8.99). I plugged it in and nothing. So i started reading different threads to help me fix this issue. I did not see, read  or find anything that truly helped me figure out what it could be so upon further research  I came across this link in the HP site:  http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c01732674&lc=en&product=5242926&tmp...  This helped me figure out what the light meant.. Hopefully it can help others who may have this same issue.
So bottom line I did a battery reset. I unplugged every thing from my laptop(battery charger, mouse, etc) I took my battery out of the computer, (pushed in the circle black rubber button (on the back left of my laptop where the seam is) then held down the power button for about 30 seconds then put my battery back into my laptop plugged my new charger in and thus far the battery is charging and the white light is staying on to show a current charging in progress.. Hope this helps anyone else!

Try removing the battery and start it up that way and also do a hard reset which means remove the battery and with no AC adapter connected hold down the power button 30 seconds. Now plug in the adapter and try to fire it up. Yes, the battery can go so dead it keeps the laptop from turning on. It is not common however and quite the longshot. It could possibly even be the AC adapter. Do you have access to another known good one? Lastly, it can be the power jack and even the motherboard. It is really not good for a computer to experience repeated hard power-down shutoffs. If you want to kill a computer that is one good way to do it slowly and painfully. The power jack is a separate part from the motherboard and on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being replace the battery and 10 being replace the motherboard it is about a 6 or a 7. No soldering is required. This is the part you need:
    (16) Power connector cable 486637-001
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-HP-G71-COMPAQ-CQ71-Power-Jack-Cable-/150762602392?pt=LH_DefaultDoma...
However, I cannot find a manual here. I usually can, but it seems to be hiding. This one will be very close:
    G70 manual
A computer repair shop wil likely charge about $100 for the repair.

  • Re: laptop wont turn on

I have a Satellite A215 which just wont turn on. I have the blue light flash on the power cable and on the battery. I have tried taking out the battery and memory.
I have tried to just use the power cord but with no luck please please help got all my pics on laptop and it just wont turn on

Service Center is a good idea, I agree.
At first you may try to determine the cause of malfunction. You say it won't turn on. What do you mean? If no activity can be felt (like noise of the fan, flashing of power-on button or indicator), then, perhaps, smth is really wrong with the mainboard. Did you drop it recently? :-)
Or may be the power-on button stopped working for some reason (like disconnect). In this case you are lucky, I belive they can easily fix it (which is not the case with the mainboard).
If the on-button flashes and the system seems to boot, but you can't see anything - well, something is definitely wrong with the screen. Go to service centre.
Meanwhile, why not extract everything valuable from your hard drive? I believe, It is can be removed easily, and yo can by a USB-adaptor to connect it to any other PC.
    Good luck!

  • Pavillion zv5000 laptop wont boot from cd after mobo and hdd replace

So I inherited a dead zv5000 laptop with no hdd.  I replaced the motherboard and CPU, and it powered up and booted from the cd drive with no hdd installed.  I was able to run memtek and the original hp os recovery discs, with no hdd installed.
Then I put in an empty hdd.  The bios sees the hdd ok, but I suddenly can't boot from the cd drive.  The bios settings are correct, and the discs spin in the cd drive, but it wont boot with the recovery discs, memtek, or an original xp install disc.
When I remove the hdd, it still wont boot from the cd drive.
So I google and I read stuff about hp tattoos on hdds and motheboards and dmi, and no passwords for the average person to do the tattoo.
So what do I need to do ?  I don't understand why it was good with the new motherboard, but as soon as I plugged in an hdd it wont do anyting.  I cant update bios because I cant boot past the bios, and not sure how that would help anyway.

If you have an open firmware password, delete it. It will not boot off anything but HD with OF password. Or at least thats what it was for me.

  • My G62 laptop wont turn on

I was sitting at my friends house on my pc. I let the battery get to about 20% before i charged it because i hadnt let the battery run down for a day or two and it needs to be done to ensure the battery life. When i plugged it in i continued to use it. But it died. And since then i have been unable to get it on. Ive used  3 different HP chargers to charge it and it wont charge. Im not sure whats wrong with it. The only thing i could think of is that the port that the charger  goes into is messed up on my PC.
Could someone provide me with assistance and possibly a number so i can call HP and have them sort this out. Ive seen alot of tech assistance but im not sure which HP number i call for repair.
    Thank you

    try this:
remove the battery, other peripherals and the AC adapter... press and hold the power button for 20 seconds... plug the AC adapter only and turn on the notebook....
Click Start and type device in the search field, then select Device Manager.
    Expand the Batteries category.
Under the Batteries category, right-click the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery listing, and select Uninstall.
On the Device Manager taskbar, click Scan for hardware changes.
Alternately, select Action > Scan for hardware changes.
Calling HP would be your last option...

  • Laptop wont turn on

Hi have an ENVY m6 and the laptop won't turn on.  Where the power supply plugs in it blinks 3x's when I try to turn it on.  I have tried removing the battery and using just the ac power supply, pressing the power button for 30 seconds with no power conmnected at all and another hp power supply - no luck.  My laptop was 1 week out of warranty when this happened and of course hp will do NOTHING!!!

    Hi GXP,
I understand you are getting a black screen on start up on your HP ENVY m6 Notebook. Here is a document on how to troubleshoot this issue. Please note you must disconnect or remove all peripheral devices.

  • My HP Pavilion dv6 laptop wont turn on

My HP Pavilion dv6 laptop does not turn on. Problem with my laptop started couple weeks ago.  At that time, when computer goes to sleep mode after inactive for some time, power light and led lights stays on but screen is black. I can not do anything else but to press power button for few second and force turn off. If I turn on computer right away then computer will have black screen and nothing happens. If I remove battery and wait for few minutes and connect the power cord directly to computer and turn on then it will turn on normally and work until it goes back to sleep again. But now, its not even turning on at all. So far I tried hard reset, plugged in to different monitor and RAM test but no luck. Again when I turn on, caps lock and num lock lights blink and fan turns on and power lights, volume lights and wifi lights stays on but nothing on screen. Thank you in advance for any help.

I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook and having issues with performance. Here is a link to computer will not start.  I would start at the top and work my way down. Mine was fixed with reseating the HDD. Others have had it fixed with just reseating the Memory. Here is a video that shows you how to remove and reseat the HDD and memory. Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues.  You could reset the BIOS with this document selecting the reloading the BIOS default settings. Which has helped others as it restores the default settings. Plug the power adapter directly into a functioning wall outlet. Do not plug it into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue. Please let me know how this goes. Thanks.

  • After Hibernation my laptop wont turn on, or off

Wondering if anyone else had this problem. My laptop went into hibernation and then would not turn back on or even with the power button depressed would not turn off either.  After trying everything else I could think off I finally popped the battery out and it did shut down, but now I think I have killed it for good and it won't turn back on at all.  Does anyone have any ideas?  This is an older satellite A65 laptop, about 5 or 6 years old.

I was afraid that that would be the case,  thanks everyone for your help. jojo
You try holding the power button down for a few seconds to turn it back on?
Shouldn't be a problem in Hibernation unless the battery is no good. Should still work in AC power. Could be a motherboard issue if it doesn't post or the power strip if it doesn't turn on at all.
HD should be fine so it's irther the power strip is gone or the motherboard but it shoulkd still "turn" on if its motherboard. I'm pointing alot at the dead power strip in the laptop.
(not talking about power cord or battery but the strip that provides power to everything)

  • Laptop wont turn on, the charger light wont come on either

I tried taking the batter out, nothing.  Tried a different charger, nothing.  Tried a different outlet, nothing.   Please Help!!

    Hello jmr2r9,
Your computer will not turn on.
Do you get any lights on the laptop?
What happen the last time that it worked?
    Do a hard reset.
    Power off the computer.
Remove the power cable and the battery.
Hold down the power button for 15 sec while booth power sources are removed.
This should reset the hardware in the computer.
Clicking the White Kudos star on the left is a way to say Thanks!
Let me know how everything goes.
    Have a good day.

  • Laptop wont turn on at all

    Hi,
Here's a video of what I'm talking about:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAwxE8dPUE8
My Lenovo 3000 G530 laptop with Windows 7 wont startup. I bought it less than a year ago new off of Newegg. This happened while I was on chatroulette (which seemed to be lagging a lot with firefox, opera, and even internet explorer, as well as having trouble connecting to people.) I was using it for about 2 hours, and suddenly out of nowhere I got my first blue screen of death on this laptop.
I've seem them before so I just restarted, going to go into safemode but I realized it wont even load the loading screen.
I have antivirus and anti-spyware software, NOD32, which I keep updated. I never really have virus issues or anything anyway since I'm usually pretty good with computers. This one just baffles me though.
The ONLY other problem I've had with the laptop is that it it'll flicker sometimes. If you look on my youtube channel, the other video I have posted shows this but that was for a question I figured out a while ago. (Seemed to majorly fix the problem with a heatpad under my laptop.)
Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks.

    Try without the hard drive.
If it boots to Lenovo screen, HD is the problem.

  • My laptop wont turn on. please help!!

i turned my macbook pro 13" on this morning and when i did there was a kernel panic and i've tired to restart it, but the kernel panic is reoccurring what do i do? please help!!

If you can't boot in the usual way, try a safe boot. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During startup, you’ll see a progress bar, and then the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all.
Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
If you're able to boot, launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select the most recent panic log under System Diagnostic Reports. Post the contents — the text, please, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header and body of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don't post shutdownStall, spin, or hang reports.
