Pavillion X2 microphone issue with Skype

Hi - I have jusr purchased the Pavillion 2 net book / tablet. We tried to use Skype today and the voice recognition was very poor and muffled. We adjusted the microphone in skype from Auto to manual but this did not assist and put back on to auto. I could not be heard by the other person so we gave up. Please can you suggest a fix. Thanks.

    What is the Product and Model Number of your desktop computer?
    What bit-version of Windows 8 do you have installed on your computer?
    Has your computer completed all of its important Windows Updates?
    Have you updated your HP drivers using the HP Support Assistant?
    Is this an on-going, or recent issue?
    In the meantime, I recommend following this document on Resolving Microphone and Line-in Problems (Windows 8). This should help re-establish the line-in function while using Skype.

  • Microphone Issues with All-in-One PC

    I recently bought an HP Pavilion 23-g013w All-in-One PC, and for the first week I had absolutely no issues with it at all. Unfortunately, today I accepted a Skype call and the other person could hear nothing but computer noises coming from my microphone. My voice was either extremely muffled at points, or impossible to hear at all.
    I've run the troubleshooter, and set my microphone settings to everything mentioned in the sound guide. I'm using Windows 8.1.
    Not sure what else to do to try and make this better.

  • Serious issues with Skype.

    There were a few reasons I went for a 920. Navigation, social network integration and Skype were the main ones. Seeing as MS bought Skype, I felt it would be a premium feature which would be promoted as a selling point. Initially, I was extremely disappointed to see Skype wasn't fully integrated into the OS - I just assumed that would be a unique feature to WP8 devices. I comforted myself with the fact that Skype would run in the background, and I would receive calls and messages whether the app was running or not.
    It started off fine - but the experience, call quality and reliability were awful. (Call quality and image was fine using a Macbook on the same network). I would get cut off after 1 second on about 7 out of 10 times. The FFC produces extremely blocky images, and there is no way of flipping to use the rear camera.
    As I said, at least it worked in the background, and calls came through at the same time as on my Macbook.
    Now, for whatever reason, I no longer receive calls when Skype is in the background. I now have to operate Skype as I did on my old WP7 800 - open the app to receive a call. I realize this is a Skype app, but I want to know how other people rate the experience? Is it just me - and anyone got any idea why it's not receiving calls when in the background? Same with Skype messages.
    I've uninstalled and reinstalled - no change. How many apps can run in the background before WP starts closing them down to save memory? Could that be a reason?
    I have to say, MS/Skype have seriously disappointed me with this app - surely this should have been given priority resources to make the WP version stand out above Android and iOS versions? As it is, my 3 year old Desire performs way better than the flagship Nokia device when running a Microsoft (owned) app!

    Appreciate the feedback, and I realise that it is a MS issue - not a fault specifically with the 920, but I'm still curious as to why Skype worked in the background until seemingly I installed other apps that need to run in the background - I thought Skype was given priority so that it could continually receive calls even when the app was not opened.
    I currently have 19 apps that are under the "advanced" list in "background tasks". Would that affect Skypes ability to stay active?

    Hi there,
    I am having serious connection issues on Skype and Viber and can't seem to work out why. Here is my setup:
    -I am using a Macbook Air and iPhone 5, both of which were bought in the last year and both of which are completely up to date in terms of software
    -On my Macbook Air, I am using the Skype application and Skype through Facebook
    -On my iPhone 5, I am using the Skype application, Skype through Facebook and Viber
    -On all of these applications, I am connected to BT Infinity with a download speed of 69.5Mb and an upload speed of 17Mb
    Despite all of this, I have extremely bad connection on all combinations of device and application. It is not a problem with the two devices as they both work significantly better on other wifi connections. For example, my Dad's broadband is less than 10Mb in terms of download speed and has a terrible router but my iPhone can use Skype almost perfectly. Even on 3G I can call people on Viber through my phone and it's fine. It is also not a problem with the people I am speaking to as they experience no problems with the other people they use Skype or Viber with.
    From all of this, I have concluded that it must be my BT connection but my general browsing is largely fine (not perfect) and, having spoken to BT support, it has been confirmed that my connection is officially working as it should be. 
    So I am completely stumped and extremely frustrated. I need to be able to use Skype and Viber as I have close family and friends living abroad and my conversations with them are spoilt by this issue.
    Please could someone give me some advice as I have run out of ideas!

    You shouldn't need to but if you want to try "forgetting" it on your devices then restart the device and remake the connection it might help. Have you tried connecting your mac by Ethernet to see how it performs.
    When you first turned off Smart Set Up you said it seemed to be working. Is the slow down time specific? Have you tried a speed test when you get the poor connection. Disconnect from Skype or Viber and run a speed test.

    You could try turning off "Smart Wireless". Download a Wifi Analyser app for you smartphone or use the free version of inSSider from forum member Keith Beddoe's website here. Sorry it's Windows only.

    It will show you the wireless channels and which one your Homehub is on. You want to find the channel with the least congestion, ie. least number of users. Once you have that you need to change your homehub onto that channel.

    Another thing to try is Try giving the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequencies different SSids. Just add a 5 to the end of the 5Ghz SSid so you know which is which. Check the 5 GHz Sync with 2.4 GHz: is set to NO.
    Once you have done that "forget" the connection and then restart the device and log onto both. The device should then automatically switch to the strongest signal.
    You'll need to connect your other devices that can use both frequencies to both SSids if you want them to be able to use both/either frequencies.

  • [SOLVED] Crackling/distortion sound issues with Skype

    Recently pulseaudio was updated version 5.0 this finally fixed my KDE issues where KDE would switch inputs after every login. But now I have a crackling sound issue in Skype but only on my end off the connection. The one I'm talking to sounds fine but he hears me all the distorted and crackling. I tried the Skype Test Call system and there I sound fine no crackling issues or distortions. Anyone else have issues like that currently or know that could be?

  • Odd microphone issue with headphone jack

    Well, I really have two issues involving the headphone jack.  One is when I plug the headphone in the volume will occasionally drop to zero and then no longer go up past 0.  A power off fixes this.
    A second thing I discovered is that sometimes the microphone does not work after plugging in my headphones.  I fist noticed this when I was trying to use the speakerphone in my car with the line out through my stereo.  I thought that was by design at first.  However, I started using voice control and I noticed that the the microphone was not picking up any sound.  I could tell this because of the visual waveform display.  If I uplug and replug the microphone may start to work.  
    This happens fairly frequently but enough to make speakerphone use and voice control rather unreliable.

    Yes, it has done it through resets.  It seems to happen about 1/2 the time I plug the line out in.  They tried to tell me at the store that it was my car trying to control the audio.  Then I tried to explain it's a simple stero jack plug.
    However, if it keeps up I can go to the service center and get an exchange.  I'm going to try and report the issue to Nokia first in case it is firmware related.

  • Microphone Problems with Skype

    Everyone I skype with can't hear me unless I turn on my boost and sensitivty on my computer settings in the Sound section of the Control Panel. When I click on the 'Listen to this Device' I can hear myself clearly and at a comfortable hearing range. Then I look to skype and see that Skype's sensitivity matches my computer visually, but when I speak it is either super faint or not there at all.
    I have to turn on boost and sensitivty just so Skype can capture my voice. I made sure my drivers were updated, my cords wasn't broken, things are plugged in properly, reinstalled my driver, and so on and so forth. This is starting to irritate me and I just want to have a nice time with some friends on a call without constantly having to fix my sensistivty on the microphone, when the computer says it is all fine and Skype says turn up the sensitivtiy.

    Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool.
    Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.

    Unfortunately the given answer in the support page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4552s is lame and unacceptable for us as new macbook air users.
    Not only Skype does not recognize the camera. Google hangouts or gotomeeting applications don´t identify the built-in camera either.
    We bought this machine to be always connected to our friends, family and co-workers, and the fact of not being able to take advantage to the most common video-calling apps is just dissapointing. 
    As a brand new mac user, I havent had the chance to back up the previous version of my system, and my mac distributor/seller doesnt accept any return/change because hardware is running fine with FaceTime...
    Skype or Google say its an Apple issue... and Apple says its Microsoft or Google. Meanwhile we are having a lame experience as brand new mac users, and Apple should pay attention of that.
    We hope Apple understands it needs to be fixed right away. We wait nothing but the best from Apple, so I really look forward to listen a prompt solution of this

  • Microphone issue with MSI Z97 GAMING 5

    Hi there!.
    I have just set up my new computer and i have problems with my microphone. My mainboard is a "MSI Z97 GAMING 5" and my box: NOX Coolbay SX.
    I have installed the drivers from disk and tryed also searching drivers on the web of MSI. I can hear with my speakers with no problems, same with my headset. But there is no way to use my microphone. I put it in the front panel, then i checked the control panel - sound and Windows tell me that the microphone is connected, but dont work. if i put it in the back panel, the realtek HD administrator tell me that something is connected in the microphone slot but WIndows dont detect it.
    in the BIOS, the HD Audio is ENABLED. I dont have any idea about what to do now. I have search on this forum but i havent seen this same issue. Can you help me?

    I suggest the following steps:
    1. Verify you are using the latest Skype version - if this is a skype related issue it might have already been fixed.
    2. In skype open the audio device menu, make sure it points to the right microphone and set the volume to maximum. Also disable automatic volume adjustment.
    3. If the problem is not resolved, and you are unable to use a different microphone you can try installing a virtual audio device that will be the middle-man between skype and the physical microphone/speakers. For example, you can try SoliCall Pro. This software is installing a virtual audio device and is ususlly used as an echo cancellation software.

  • SEVERAL issues with skype lately!

    1. Lately, just about every time I log in, my previously blocked contacts are restored to my contact list, unblocked. So I just block them again every time, no big deal, but then a few days ago, AFTER I re blocked him he was somehow able to still message me.
    2. Later that day, I had a very private conversation with one of my close friends via skype IM. Afterwards, closed it out and went on with my day. The next day, I get an extremely long email from the contact that was still able to message me after he had been blocked, detailing many of the things I had said in the private conversation with my good friend. He claims that I sent him these messages via skype, but when I check all my conversation histories on any device, they are not there.
    3. I am told by skype reps that conversations are only stored on the device in which they took place. I even logged in to another computer and am not able to view previous conversations with my contacts. So I have no idea how those messages were sent to him, unless he broke into my home and managed to log in to my skype on my computer?
    4. I change my password last night, just in case I am being hacked. Today, I go to log in on my phone and it says invalid password, after trying multiple times I click 'forgot password' and get a code to reset it. I reset the password, log in, and there is a conversation that pops up with another contact. This conversation shows that I sent him messages at 3AM that morning, a copy of the exact same private conversation that was previously sent to someone else (though it did not show up in my history for the first one). I had not been logged on and my computer had not even been on since 11pm or earlier the night before. I did not have the private conversation on my phone. I do not know how this happened.
    5. I get home to log in to skype and contact support, and it prompts me again that I have the wrong password. So I send my email again to get another code and reset it, but it says that I have reached the maximum password code requests in 24 hours. So I keep trying to type the password, then try my original password that I had before the change the night before and it worked.
    6. I'm very disappointed with the customer service I have received. I tried contacting skype via their live chat and the people I am connected with do not speak English very well or seem to understand what I'm saying at all. I could really use assistance with this issue ASAP, so some kind of phone line to call would be nice.
    I intend to delete my whole account and the program altogether, but I want to get to the bottom of this first. Is there any way to trace maybe the IP of where the messages were sent from in the conversation with the second contact? Or find out what's been going on with my account?
    ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!

    Please make sure you are on the latest version from www.skype.com/go/getskype - An older Skype version contained a bug that resulted in IM being sent to the wrong recipient under some certain circumstances.

  • Very critical issue with skype username

    I need to recover my skype account but i cant contact support... its extremely confusing and keeps going in a loop...
    I need to recover my account, I have:
    Forgotton my password
    My account email was a private domain name which has been expired and i have no longer access to.
    I bought skype credit but its way more then 6 months ago so i cant use it to recover any details or help myself.
    The debit card i had used to buy these services was with my previous bank account and is long expired... i do not remember the digits it had or anyway to obtain those...
    I do not know how else i can prove myself... I urgently need to recover my account...

  • Webcam issue with Skype and MSN messanger on Satellite A300

    Hi.
    Well. Contacted Toshiba Australia. and got some information.
    Well, the person I spoke to said that he would try to find the drivers on the Toshiba European website, which he did. And he said to uninstall my camera assist software.
    So I did, downloaded the new version, installed it. But i am still getting problems, saying that windows vista home premium, a USB device, is not functioning and windows cannot recognize it.
    And also, got a driver error still, saying to either open the driver software or restart your computer.
    Went to the Toshiba forums, and had a look, did post on their, but could not seem to find any answers, and did that in the last week or two.
    Just, want to use Skype and MSN messenger.
    But if i cannot get these problems to be resolved, then no point in installing, probably will not work, and have not tried this feature out yet on my machine.
    Any one had similar problems, with their Toshibas? and where do i go from here.
    Really stretching my head and not sure what to do?
    The guy said maybe to do a recovery disk, but do not really want to go down that road.
    That would mean having to spend hours reinstalling everything, and I do not have really the time to do that at the moment.
    Really busy at the moment. Can any one offer any other suggestions or where do i go from here?
    Had this problem, when i got it out of the box, and purchased from Harvey Norman, Burnie, Tasmania.

    What model Toshiba do you have?
    Are you sure the USB device is the webcam? Have you checked Device Manager?
    * Download the updated Chicony Webcam driver from http://203.56.127.6/driver_download/Public//p2_all/ChiconyWebcam_v1.7.175.0123.exe
    * Install Vista Service Pack 1, or Vista Hotfix KB934374: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934374 (KB934374 is included in SP1)
    * Update your Messenger software (MSN/Yahoo Messenger, etc..)
    * If you have another program that can use the webcam (Skype for example), make sure they are completely closed, and not sitting in the System Tray.
    * Try closing the Camera Assistant Bar on the left of the Desktop.
    * To stop the Camera Assistant software from running on startup, run Regedit and delete "Camera Assistant Software" from HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run \

  • Hi, i have an issue with Skype group calls.

    Short story even shorter.
    Whenever i get added to a call. I CANNOT join said group call/chat if i do not have the "host" on my friend list. In order for me to be able to join the call, i have to add the "host" to my friendlist OR have the host quit the call and then have whomever i had on my friend list to call the group. 
    Is there a fix for this? Do i really have to clutter my friendlist with near to say useless contacts just to join a call?
    Final notice: When i try to join a call with a host that i do not have on my friendlist, the call quickly opens and i can see the users in the call but can't hear them and then just as quickly the call "quits" on me and i have the option to rejoin again by pressing the green button but then again the same issue happens and i get kicked out until i do one of the two things said above.
