Pay As You Go Activation Fees?

Is there an activation fee when you start a new pay as you go plan? Does it matter if you buy the prepaid phone, like the LG Cosmos 3 or Samsung Intensity 3, here from the Verizon site or if you buy it new somewhere else?
What about second hand phones? Can those used with a pay as you go plan and would there be an activation fee?

Thank you. I'm glad I asked. I don't see activation fee mentioned on the prepaid phone page. Just mentions the price of the phones and the 3 different daily plans.
What about a second hand Verizon phone? Can I dial #22898 to activate and use on a pay as you go phone, without an activation fee?

Ipad 2 has a promo right now for free activation. Xoom doesn't that is why.  The reason for the activation fee  is when you activate and get a new MTN the only idea I can think of is to simply activate 1 time and just suspend without billing when your not travelling.  AT&T and all the other carriers have the exact same plans and fees we do so you will get the exact same every were else.  ( Sorry if you have been trying to figure this out for a while)

  • Are Surcharges calculated on total bill amount? including activation fees

Hi, I am trying to find out what my surcharges will be on total $200 total plan cost for everything in arizona.  I got my first bill for $403 and that includes activation fees for 3 lines and also they charged me $42 in surcharges, what can i excpect in surcharges on a normal bill of $200?? if they base there surcharge % on my total bill including activation fees then my next bill at $200 should be much less then $42???

    Hello johnpadock,
TAXES, TAXES, TAXES! No one really likes taxes. I certainly don't but it's a way of life in the U.S. Almost any service that's provided are subject to taxes, including wireless service. As we all know, surcharges vary from state to state as well as city and even zip code. Below is an estimate of what you can expect to pay in surcharges in Maricopa county, which is in Phoenix Arizona. Keep in mind that the percentages below is an estimate and can be subject to change based on location.
Phoenix Transaction Privilege Surcharge on Telecommunication - 4.7%
Phoenix City Transaction Privilege/Gross Receipts Surcharge General Merchandise - 2%
Maricopa County Transaction Privilege Surcharge Telecommunication - .7%
Keep in mind that these are not all of the surcharges but merely a sample of what is factored into a monthly wireless bill. The percentage is calculated from the retail value of the products and services that are listed on the bill. For example, if you have Unlimited Talk & text with a $30 data package then the retail value would be $119.99. Keep in mind all VZW downloads, overages, equipment purchases that's billed to the account and late fees fall into the retail cost range. Simply, multiple the retail value by the percentage and the product.
If you would like a more detailed breakdown of the taxes in your specific area then I would encourage you to call our customer service number so we can provide the breakdown of the taxes in our county, city, and state. Our customer service department can be reached by calling *611 from your Verizon cell phone or 800-922-0204.
    Thank you...

  • Prepaid Plan Activation Fees

I recently attained an iPhone 4, and activated it on the $60/Month Smartphone plan. I remember having to pay a fee for activating that phone on that plan. I would like to change over to a DROID device, and am wondering if I would have to repay another activation fee to switch devices, yet retain the phone number. Can anybody help?

        Hello sdhartm,
I can absolutely help you with your activation fee question. Activation fees are only charged when you start new service. Changing phones on a number you already have will not incur an activation fee. You can complete the change to a different device on your own by logging on to My Verizon. Have a good afternoon.
    Thank you,

  • I am wondering if these jackals realize how much they screw people on these unnecessary "activation fees"?

I was promised by Best Buy there would be no activation fee on Feb 10 2015 at the Colorado Blvd location in Denver, CO. After several chats with no recourse, I called up the Customer Service line.
Louis, the rep, decides to secretly patch in the Best Buy Manager (Billy), who wasn't present when his lacky promised me no extra fees. The Best Buy guy decides to break into the conversation by combating what he thinks happened the day I was there.
I tell Louis, I am done speaking to you, let me have your supervisor. Ty, who promised to reprimand Louis for handling this situation so poorly promises me that the way his boss would want him to handle my situation would be to offer me 15 free minutes of talk time on my already unlimited plan. That was the best he would do.
It's amazing how a customer can commit to paying 120+ dollars per month for 2 lines for a two-year contract like me, but these jackals can't refund me the 40$ that I was scammed out of to keep a customer long term. I truly believe that the truly educated reps would figure out a way to let me keep my 40$ so that they could keep a customer long term. But, I guess that's why these desk jockeys are working the jobs that they are because in the end, I am just another angry Verizon customer to them.
My contract ends in November 2015. My relationship with this trash ends as well.

It appears to me you are an unhappy BEST BUY customer since they are the ones which promised you no activation fee. You should be trying to get the activation fee refunded by BEST BUY.
Occasionally, Verizon has a promotion where there is not activation fee, but even in these cases you are initially charged the activation fee and after 2-3 months of service it is credited back to your account. If you signed up for service during one of these periods, you should wait the requisite 2-3 months to see if you actually receive your activation fee credit.

  • Activation FEES?????

    Hi,
I am trying to find out where it says in my signed contract that I will be charged an activation fee. I just looked at my first bill and noticed the $35 fee per line. Had I known about the fee I would not be mad and would have been better prepared to pay my bill. However I have looked at all the information I have received and my signed contract and I do not see anywhere that I would be charged these fees. If someone can tell me where to find this information in my signed contract I would appreciate it. I had issues similar to this with Sprint which is why I left them. I hope this isn't going to happen all over again.

Activation Fees have been a part of the cell phone biz here in the US for decades. I have no idea where it is in the contract, but somewhere on the website there is a fine print footnote *$35 activation fee per line. All the big 4 carriers charge them, but they are often waived on corporate promos, third-party promos or even CSR waivers offered over the phone in settlement of an issue.  Also sales reps in stores can waive them in exchange for plan up-sells. Lacking any of these incentives, however, then yeah you're stuck with them.

  • AT&T vs Verizon Data Plan for iPad 2 - Activation Fees?

I heard that Verizon has a $35 activation fee everytime you activate the data plan. Is this true?
I am trying to get one where I can activate on a month-to-month basis as I please without paying an activation fee each time. I know that this is the case for AT&T. If Verizon has the activation fee, then this is an easy decision.
    Thanks!

I think the Verizon website is misleading. There is no mention of activation fees, but according to almost every reputable source the fee exists.
I wrote to Verizon customer service earlier in the week to find out from the source. I asked:
    "IF I purchase the Verizon 3G iPad2:
    1. Will I be able to activate/deactivate Verizon service as needed?
    2. Is there an activation fee? If so, how much?
    3. Is the activation fee charged each time service is activated and/or
deactivated? If not, when exactly is the fee charged?"
    They answered:
"You may disconnect the device at anytime. However, if the disconnect is after the 14-day Worry Free Guarantee return/exchange timeframe, then you are liable for an early termination fee. The early termination fee is prorated based on how much of the contract has been completed.
Yes, there is an activation fee for all new lines of service. In your case, the activation fee would be $35. This applies each time that a line activation is requested."
That reads to me as a $35 fee every time you activate service, be it every other month, every three months or whatever.
It may not be a problem for some, but this is a dealbreaker for me. I am getting the AT&T iPad2. It is unfortunate that one iPad cannot handle both services, as that would promote competition.

  • Switching phones and activation fees

    Hi everyone,
I bought a new phone off e_bay (LG voyager vx10000) to replace my current phone. I realize I can switch and activate the new phone from the Verizon website but my question is.....when I activate my new phone will I still be able to use my old phone as a back-up? Also will I be charged an activation fee? I do not want to upgrade to smartphone or renew my contract. I am currently in a month-to-month contract and I would like to keep it that way.
I have done this process before but I never wanted to keep my old phone because it was always broke.Another thing I remember from when I done this in the past is Verizon asks you why you are switching your phone. Why do they ask this? Is it just like a poll type thing so they know why most people are switching phones? or is it to tell whether they need to charge you an activation fee? Does answering that poll (or whatever you want to call it) gonna affect whether I get charged an activation fee or if my old phone gets a bad esn or something like that? Also my reason for getting a new phone is because my old one is very out dated and want something a little more modern but no required data plan. My old phone still works good which is why I want to keep it as a back-up.
Hopefully you were able to follow along...I don't really want to call or go to the store I would rather activate online and soon.
I bolded the questions so it is easier to refer back to and find =)

There is no activation fee for activating a different phone on an existing line.  You only pay an activation fee when you start a new line of service.
As to the survey, I've never been prompted to answer any questions like that when switching phones.  The only reason you would not be able to use your old phone as a backup is if you report it to Verizon as lost or stolen, or fall behind on your payments while that phone is on your account.  If the phone is listed as lost, stolen, or tied to an unpaid account, it is placed on a blacklist and cannot be activated on any Verizon account.
You can either use the online tool, or just turn off your old phone and then dial *228 and choose option 1 from the new phone.

  • Can I buy a phone verizon pay as you go and use it on my verizon contract?

My verizon wireless broke and I don't have insurance and I'm six months before I can qualify to renew a contract, so I'm stocked in trying to get a second hand phone, but I saw the same model of my broken phone selling in flea bay from the verizon pay as you go. My question is, can I use one of those phones to be activated on my verizon? I would hate to buy the phone and later find out that verizon won't activate it.

You can also view the eligibility requirements of our Certified Pre Owned Program at the link below. This program helps:

  • Cell phone pay as you go - need advice

Yikes... my head is spinning...I have seen so many phones the past few days ( and reviews etc ) on internet sites... I am totally lost.
had a cell phone years ago when motorola made them first.. traxar or something ?? was expensive ( $800 ? ).. and had monthly ATT service unlimited ( also expensive ).
that was during 1st season of " sopranos ".. long time ago.
since then I've just had a land line...with fios... internet and tv included.
now I need a cell phone again due to move to MN from NY. I have no clue how long it will take to get internet out there etc... in new apartment.
my computers will get set up right away when I get there..and one has a wi fi card installed ...so if I can find wi fi thats not passwrd protected .... I could maybe use it ...for internet. BUT ( this is a big BUT ) some stuff I do ( banking etc ) on internet is security sensitive to ME.... and I dont want to get virus through some network or have my security breached.
SOOOOO ... question is... can I get a pay as you go phone that also has features for basic email ( in and out ) and also a browser like firefox so I can do banking etc ???
ORRRRR should I just get a simple phone with no other services.... and then use whatever I can find in MN until I get my stuff hooked up....( like library computer or something ).
I am so confused by all the choices and different model phones etc... my head is spinning !!!

    Chuck,
    ============
Will you be working in the TV/film industry in Minnesota?
    =============
I dont think so. My first reaction to this question was : I would rather have a sharp stick in my eye.
But giving it more thought, I realize unless I find some staff position with a producer where I actually add value to the enterprise I would rather not work freelance ( per diem ) anymore. I need more than that now, but also less. I need less " money" but I need more re: my contribution.. even if it's simply helping others do what they want.
I have a feeling MN is not going to be full of opportunities to do that in the film and tv biz ( or tv commercials, industrials etc ) whether on shoot crews, construction, rigging, production, editing, sound, etc.  It may be that fishing is the main activity out there... as there are a lot of lakes where I'm going. They must have fish in them ?  It's weird but somehow " fishes " seems to be beckoning me to some new life out of the city etc.  First it was trout. Now its trout again... plus even MORE fish types... who knows.. I have no clue about fish.
For example, what do fish actually DO ?  They are doing stuff under water and its hard to see them and what they actually DO all day long etc. To me its a mystery.
Anyway, I am now having internet, phone and TV service installed at new apartment before I get there...made the arrangements this morning.... and the need for a cell phone etc has been greatly reduced... I might not get anything at all now for the actual " drive " out there.
Will see what my money situation is in next week or so... might get cell phone but not the internet and email stuff just for the drive.  Every penny counts when moving and leaving the biz you've done for the last 30 plus years etc.

  • Can i still use pay as you go plan on a smartphone prepaid plan?

can i still use pay as you go plan on a smartphone prepaid plan?

Yes you can. However, 4G smartphones cannot be activated on prepaid. 3G devices have 3 different available plans. Verizon has an exclusive plan with Walmart which consists of unlimited talk and text with a 1GB for $50. The other 2 plans are unlimited talk and text with 2GB for $60 or 4GB for $70

  • Can you put a pay as you go sim in a bill pay phone?

I bought my brothers iphone and while he was a bill pay customer iam a pay as you go customer with the same carrier. so i thought i could just but my sim in his phone and use it. • Is In Browser Editing available if I cancel my pay as you go Muse subscription?

Hi people. As a newcomer to Muse I'm basically paying for Muse as and when I have a customer that needs a website designing hence what I want to know is if I design a website and then cancel my pay as you go subscription will my client then suddenly find they can't edit it anymore? Do I need to be paying for muse all the time for in browser editing to work?

Use of https://inbrowserediting.adobe.com is not dependent on having an active Muse subscription. Your client can continue to use it after your Muse subscription expires.

  • RE: Subscriptions vs.. Pay as you go Bahamas

I live in Canada and am considering buying a 400 minute subscription for the Bahamas, but I already have skype to go, and spend about $20.00 - $30.00 on skype credit, on top of having a 60 minute subscription that I recently cancelled. If I cancel the skype to go for the subscription, can I still make phone calls to the Bahamas from my cell phone using my subscription. And is it cheaper to have the subscription? Or will I need to keep both. Also, what extra charges are involved in skype to go?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Skype To Go is just a number that you can call from your cell phone and it will enable you to make calls from your Skype account. Adding Skype To Go to your Skype account doesn't cost anything.
Most people sit behind their computer, log in with Skype and make calls to landline/mobile numbers. In order to pay for these calls customers can use either Skype Credit or a subscription. Subscription is more suitable for customers who reguraly make lot of calls. For example if you know that you will be calling about 400minutes to Bahamas then subscripton is more suitable, because there won't be connection fees and overall cost should be lower.
But if you purchase Bahamas 400 and only make 1-2 calls then Skype Credit is definitely more suitable. Skype Credit(Pay as you go) is for users who don't call so much and make calls only once in a while. As the name says, you pay when you need to make a call.
If customers can't make calls from their computer then this is where Skype To Go comes in. Basically Skype To Go is just a number that you call, it will connect you with Skype and sort of asks Skype to make a call from your Skype account to desired destination. Therefore if you wish to use your cell phone to call through Skype instead of sitting behind your computer then you should keep Skype To Go number.
