But, I would like to activate the 3/4 g when i travel. why do i have to pay an activation fee? I noticed ipad2 has no activation fee. why can,t xoom owners have a true pay as you go plan? Why can,t verizon come with a plan that helps loyal customers? Boo to activation fees........

Ipad 2 has a promo right now for free activation. Xoom doesn't that is why.  The reason for the activation fee  is when you activate and get a new MTN the only idea I can think of is to simply activate 1 time and just suspend without billing when your not travelling.  AT&T and all the other carriers have the exact same plans and fees we do so you will get the exact same every were else.  ( Sorry if you have been trying to figure this out for a while)

can i still use pay as you go plan on a smartphone prepaid plan?

Yes you can. However, 4G smartphones cannot be activated on prepaid. 3G devices have 3 different available plans. Verizon has an exclusive plan with Walmart which consists of unlimited talk and text with a 1GB for $50. The other 2 plans are unlimited talk and text with 2GB for $60 or 4GB for $70

  • How to configure my extender if im on the pay-as-you go plan

I purchased a samsung extender. It says on the page and in the manual to setup myself as a priority on my extender. After a number of discussions with support I was told that as a pay-as-you-go client *I CANNOT SET MYSELF AS A PRIORITY* on my extender.
This is a real issue as im in a apt complex and it has been used by others so much I get bumped off my own extender.
Im also not very happy about the internet usage by others on my home networking. At times thier 3G use is taking up a lot of my home network bandwidth and causing me to have slow internet.
So I need to set my extender to have my cell as a priority. How do I do this ?
I *REALLY* need to make it private as the internet use by others via 3G is using up all my home connection bandwidth so I experence extremely slow internet speeds on my home computer. Having these be open to the public is a insanely stupid thing when 3G speeds are involved as they will surely use up the bandwidth of the home connection by strangers.

IF you had exactly $50 in your account and a portion of it was deducted for some sort of fee which you were assessed, dropping your account balance under $50, then you would have automatically been switched to the pay as you go plan.
It is best to keep a bit above the amount due in your account for just this type of occurrence.
    Good luck.

  • Changing to pay as you go plan or canceling account.

I am recently divorced and now living on my own on one very small income. I have an original first generation Droid, and with the data plan my bill is close to $100 a month. I am having to cut costs anywhere I can because of the dramatic decrease in income I now have encountered. My contract ends in December, so since I only have about 6 months I am wondering if there is a way I can just switch to a pay as you go plan and get out of my contract. I would even be willing to change to a lesser phone. If not, is the best option I have to suck it up and pay the early cancellation fee? To my understanding it would be somewhere in the vicinity of $170. Thanks in advance for any info!

No, you cannot switch to pre-pay without paying the ETF. Also, if you use Verizon's prepaid service with your Droid (a smartphone) it will be just as expensive as the contract service, because you cannot use smartphones with the daily plans. I would even be willing to change to a lesser phone. If not, is the best option I have to suck it up and pay the early cancellation fee? If you switch to a "feature" phone that does not require data (you can get one used from eBay, Craigslist, etc.), you can remove the $29.99 data package, saving you that money.  You should also consider finding ways to reduce the amount of minutes/texts you use to decrease those costs.  You could switch to alternatives like Skype on your computer for your calling, or just try to call during your evening and weekend periods more often. To my understanding it would be somewhere in the vicinity of $170. Your ETF will be $350 less $10 for each month of service that you complete. Thanks in advance for any info!

  • Pay as you go plan

My son has a phone that he had the pay as you go plan with Alltel. His money ran out and he has not used the phone for several months. Does anyone know how to get his phone reactivated? I can't seem to find anyone that knows how to reinstate his phone.

Your son will need to contact Alltel's Prepaid Department at 800-335-6401, to go about re-activating service.  Hope this helps!

  • Can a Samsung Galaxy S111 be used on a Prepaid (or pay) as you go plan?

    Hi Everyone,
This is my first post. Am thinking about getting a smartphone for my upcoming vacation. All I have ever needed is a desktop up until now. Would like to get a smartphone so I can keep in touch with my friends and well as getting in touch with them when visiting. I do not use a telephone due to a severe hearing loss so I would like to find something specifically for this trip. Was wondering if the Samsung Galaxy S 111 can be used on a no contract -prepaid (or pay) as you go plan. Will only use it for the required months needed. I know it's expensive ($70.00 per) but it's better then paying $50 - $60 a month for a whole year when I may only use it a couple months.
    Thanks

Thanks for all the replies. You've all been a big help. The more research I do, the faster my head is spinning. lol  Is it a SPECIFIC tablet model that determines whether or not it you get wi-fi AND web connectivity?
I'm trying to find a tablet that will allow me get connected in St Louis, Missouri and Wickenburg,Arizona. My friends in Az say Verizon is the ONLY carrier that has good coverage in that small town So I'm looking to get something Verizon will cover. Wi-fi is great but wi-fi and web connectivity would be much better. I'm not in any hurry since it will be awhile before I leave. I'm just  putting all the pieces together for the time being.

I Have a pay as you go plan that shows $15 left but no data available and therefore will not allow me to get on the web or send picture messages. I was told that it would be $.25 a minute for calls and $.20 per text and $.25 per picture message and a per mb charge for web but I cannot send picture messages and I cannot get on the web. Does anyone else have this issue and know how to fix it.  Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

  • I have an excess balance on my verizon pay as you go plan. If I cancel my plan, what happens to my remaining balance?

I was looking at switching to a 2yr contract with Verizon instead of my pay as you go. I went into the local corporate store and was told that my balance would not carry over if I switched because my number was ported from a different company and their computer program specifically stated that my balance would not transfer due to this. Since this is the case, If I cancel my pay as you go and switch to a contract, what happens to my money? There is over $100 that is an excess balance on my account and I don't want to lose that. Will I get a check returned to me since it wont transfer?

        lookmanohands,
We are glad to hear that you are thinking of switching to our contract pricing. If you were to switch from our Pre-Pay and still have a balance the balance would not be able to be transferred. We are unable to refund the balance. We encourage you to use the balance up before you transfer.

  • Pay As You Go Activation Fees?

Is there an activation fee when you start a new pay as you go plan? Does it matter if you buy the prepaid phone, like the LG Cosmos 3 or Samsung Intensity 3, here from the Verizon site or if you buy it new somewhere else?
What about second hand phones? Can those used with a pay as you go plan and would there be an activation fee?

Thank you. I'm glad I asked. I don't see activation fee mentioned on the prepaid phone page. Just mentions the price of the phones and the 3 different daily plans.
What about a second hand Verizon phone? Can I dial #22898 to activate and use on a pay as you go phone, without an activation fee?

  • IPhone 3GS pay as you go

A friend of mine just gave me her old iPhone 3GS to replace my broken Samsung intensity 2. I have been a long time verizon customer and wish to keep my service with them. I know to upgrade to a smartphone I will need to upgrade to a smart phone pay as you go plan vs the basic pay as you go plan I currently have, but I'm curious if I can even activate to particular phone on the verizon network. I've been looking around online and feel I'm getting conflicting information since the iPhone 3 has already become so outdated for most people. When I turn the phone on it says I need a SIM card. I've never had one with any of my verizon phones, but from what I've seen I can go and ask for one at the store. If getting the 3G LTE SIM card enough to get this phone working with the verizon network?

Im sorry to say this but it will not work.  The reason why, Verizon Wireless only uses CDMA networks in the United States.  The iphone 3GS (model A1332) works off GSM networks only and has no CDMA compatible radio in the unit.  And even though Sim cards may look the same,  Verizon LTE Sim cards only work on CDMA LTE phones.  the 4G LTE simcards will not function in a GSM only phone without a "CDMA 4G LTE" radio built in the handset.
Verizon Wireless will offer international sim cards to be used in a unlocked GSM phone or a compatible world phone ( phones with both CDMA and GSM radios built in )but those sims only work overseas and not in the United States.   The iPhone 4s A1387, and the CDMA iphone 5 A1429 are Apple's examples of world phones that are compatible with Verizon both here in the United States and Overseas.   Hope this helps.

  • Activation Fee Waiver

Has anyone else experienced this? You are promised the activation fee waiver and they don't apply it to your bill and make you call in to get it. But when you do, your told that it wasn't noted on your account, so the best they could offer was half the credit?
Below was my experience: Please share comment if you have experienced this and how you go it resolved. I am at my wits end!!
I recently switched to Verizon Wireless after 13 Years with T-Mobile. I am very much regretting that decision with my recent experience with Verizon Wireless. As a part switching my service, one of the reps that I spoke with told me that they would wave my activation fee as part of my deal to switch over to VERIZON WIRELESS. I had not yet received my first bill, so I went online to your website so I could view my bill. That is when I noticed that the activation fee was showing on my bill. My first step was to speak with your agent via live chat. He submitted the request for me and told me I needed to call in to approve the request. When I called in, I spoke with a rep, (who was rude and kept speaking over me) and she said she didn’t see where that was notated on my account. But, that she could offer me ½ the fee in credit. That was not what I was promised, so I declined her offer and asked her to escalate my call to a super visor which she refused to do, because the supervisor could only offer the same thing. I had to ask her several more times to escalate my call before she placed me on hold to do so. They she came back and said her supervisor was busy because she was going into a meeting and again restated that all the supervisor could offer was the ½ credit for the activation fee. I asked the rep a few more questions, in which she continued to talk over me. Unable to tolerate her rudeness anymore, I hung up. I then call back in and spoke to a rep who immediately transferred me to the sales department. I then spoke to a woman who looked into the account and asked me the same questions. (She was very polite and knowledgeable.) She said not to worry, that she would notate on my account that it was a part of a promotion and then she would transfer me back to customer service so I could get the credit. Of course (it never fails) we were disconnected.  So I called back again, and this time, this rep could only see where the previous reps notes – stated that I was promised the fee waiver and did not receive it. And she said upon that alone she could not give me the credit. After this experience, I see that all the warnings I received about VERIZON WIRELESS are true and I am deeply disappointed! I am a very good and loyal customer – who pays on time and abides by the rules. However, I am sincerely hurt by this incident and could not in good conscious, recommend Verizon to anyone after this experience. I just want what I was promised originally by the sales rep…to have my activation fee waived. I would like a response (if willing to respond) to this complaint in writing as my experience with your company’s ability to properly document conversations has been poor.
    Any suggestions?

    Hello,

  • How can I change my Pay As You Go number to my new Pay Monthly contract, please?

Hello, Just yesterday I activated my new EE Pay Monthly contract/plan. I got a new number with it.I would like to keep my old number, which I got with my EE Pay As You Go plan. How can I change the number, please? Thanks and kind regards,Andy

    You have three options available.
Speak to the upgrades and retentions department.
    Go into a EE store.
Go through a third party, like Carphone Warehouse for example.
If you know which PAYM SIM you would like, going into store would be the easiest option. You will be given a new PAYM SIM and your number will be moved from PAYG to PAYM within 24 hours. However, the only downside to this is; you can not cancel if you change your mind.
However, you can cancel within 14 days if you change your mind and you have upgraded over the phone. You will have to wait for the SIM to be delivered through the post.

  • *611 not working on pay-as-you-go, non-smart phone

I have a basic, non-smart phone with the pay-as-you-go plan (pay $100, good for one year, all calls 25 cents a minute.) It is an older Audiovox 8615 CDMA phone that is mobile-web enabled, but it will not handle apps such as MyVerizon. Incoming and outgoing calls work fine. Voicemail works fine. Text works fine. I have had this account for two years and have been very happy with the service.
Problem: I can no longer reach *611 (add money, check balance), or #225 (check balance). I get an "All circuits are busy, please try your call again later" message. I first noticed this several days ago and have reported it and have a repair ticket in, but was wondering if anyone knows what might be going on here? I have internet service and a laptop, so can still use the Verizon Wireless web site to manage my account. However, I believe I should still be able to check my balance or add funds using the phone itself, as I have in the past. Thoughts?

Just got off the phone with Verizon Prepaid customer service rep who called to report on my trouble ticket. The problem is most likely my phone and not the network. She suggested doing a  factory reset on the phone and if that does not resolve the problem, I'll need to get a newer phone. Just posting this follow-up in case others have a similar problem.
