Pay for new upgrade on day old iTouch?

We just bought an iTouch yesterday. Today we tried to download an app and games and it says we have to pay 9.99$ for a 3.0 upgrade? Hunh? I just bought this and now I have to upgrade it? Is this right? Did I get last years model? Should the salesperson have given me an upgrade coupon or something? Why isn't what I bought from the Apple store not up to date??? Please advise. It is not the 9.99 that I am worried about, but rather the principle of the business practice that I have questions about. Thanks

I must admit there isn't much in there that can warrant charging anything for an Ipod touch. Iphone perhaps since there is stuff that can only work on an iphone.
This should be a standard update for ipod's. It does stink that you've just purchased and having to pay more. Perhaps, in response, you should return it and rebuy when one comes with 3.0?

I don't think that's possible. (If you're trying to get it on another credit card, one option would be to purchase an iTunes gift card with it and redeem it to create an iTunes store credit. Storage upgrades will first charge your iTunes store credit before charging your card.)

That is a free update (not an upgrade) what happens when you try? How are you trying to update? did your Mac come with restore disks or did you download software form teh App Store? Have you logged onto the App store and checked purchased software for updates?

HT202879 Other Word Processors than Pages? & why do we have to pay for an upgrade that is incomplete?

I am very unhappy.
In order to access my documents from iCloud I have to upgrade to Mavericks (free, alright) and the new Pages, for which I have to pay.
The new Pages (and Numbers etc) does not have the same functionality as the one I have been using - yet I have to pay for it. Alright, Apple promises to upgrade in the next six months and add the new functionality. This is not good enough.
This was a very unpleasant surprise today - when I went to my document that I have been working on on my iPhone and my Mac at various times during the day and the Mac one had changed to 'Untitled 47' and the version on my iPhone would not open on my Mac unless I upgraded to the new Pages - $19.99 - and to OSX Mavericks - free - but I don't want to upgrade yet. And I don't want to pay for a new version of Pages that clearly does not have the same functionality(according to the user comments and the apple page that this discussion is about).
I have praised Apple to high heaven for the functionality of iCloud. But this really really annoys me.
If there's anything I hate its a company I am relying on forcing me to upgrade before they've sorted out the bugs.
I am definitely considering changing to a different company's word processor - if only they had a word processor that I could use on my Mac and iOS devices.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

IA Writer and Byword both can use the iCloud.
Writeroom only syncs using Dropbox.
Of course they're very minimal apps compared to Pages, or Word.
I feel very depressed.
Perhaps I will have to use one of these and then import into Word for final editing.
Believe it or not, for a minute I thought MS Word might be a contender for iOS syncing - because there is this thing called Office 365. But look at the reviews.

You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.

Congrats BlackBerry For amazing Q10 Mobile , I like it so much and the feature of phone like software, camera, application wonderful.
But I found things which I missed it from Old Blackberry Phone and it’s was helpful for the Users, & If this things back to BB with additional option will make all people buy Blackberry Blindly special in middle East.

How do I know if I need to pay for new version of Mac Os

I bought a MacBook pro in June last year (2011) - a month before the new version of Mac OS came out. I paid $29 for the update, however a few days later, I got an email from apple telling me about a free update to the version that I had paid for. I feel like my $29 paid last year was wasted.
As another new version of Mac OS comes out soon, how do I know whether I should pay for the update?

you have to pay for the new update. It's only free if you purchased a new mac June 11th of this year or later. You'd have to call Apple if you want to inquire about a refund from over a year ago.

No way to tell... You should not use them for a few days and leave them a warm well-ventilated location. After that, if they seem to be working fine, you are probably OK.

I installed the free app called dictionary.com (from the app store on my ipod) and halfway through download, my ipod froze, and I had to force restart (hold sleep and home buttons) it went off without a fuss, and then I turned it on, and the app continued to download. -I deleted it after it installed- because I dont want my ipod to die like some people write about.
Before that, I had periods of where i would be in a game, or looking at my songs where the ipod would quit responding for a second, and then it would suddenly pick back up where it was.
I talked with friends, and their months old itouches havent frozen at all.
is it feasable to return it to the place of purchase because its having issues?

it depends where you purchased it. if you bought it from an apple store then sure, other retailers may not be able to help (they may swap it for you, BUT apple would be able to look at it and decide if there was anything they could do first)
