Paying for more iCloud storage.

Do you think it's worth paying monthly for more iCloud storage? I've been thinking about it since I have a 64GB iPhone 6 because I hate having to reinstall all of my apps when I upgrade to a new phone. I also hate the annoying message popping up every day telling me I don't have enough storage to backup to iCloud. What are my benefits for having more iCloud storage?

Export your Photos and Videos from Camera Roll to your computer.
Delete Photos and Videos from Camera Roll.
Delete old backups.
Make a new Backup.

iTunes Match, however, does not count against your iCloud storage, the free 5GB or any paid addition. They're completely separate.

No. To do that you need more space on your phone.

  • Can I pay for addition iCloud storage for my family member

I want to buy more storage for my children, but I don't want to connect my credit card to their iCloud accounts. I've added them as the family members, could I pay for their iCloud through family sharing?

Your children's accounts currently have some account information with them ... so just put in your card data, do the charge, and then change it back to the account info they have now, and then your card is off the account.

  • Can I use an iTunes card to pay for more cloud storage?

I am wanting to purchase more iCloud memory for the iPads my students use in my classroom but to do that I need to be able to use a Purchase order so I was wondering if I could buy an iTunes card and purchase more iCloud memory with that. Thank you!!

Yes, you can. Note that iCloud storage is separate from that on the devices themselves; if there isn't enough space on the devices to do something, their capacity won't be increased by purchasing more iCloud space.

  • Can i pay for additional icloud storage annually or pre-pay?

If I want to purchase an additional 20GB of iCloud storage...cost 99¢/mo...is it not possible to prepay or pay annually?  I mean...really...is it cost effective to pay 99¢ every month?

The annual plan is only applicable to those who were already paying for storage under the old regime. They will be moved to a cheaper monthly plan. Those who then change to another plan, or those who begin a storage plan, can only pay monthly.

  • Paying for additional iCloud storage

Can I use the credit on my iTunes account to pay for my additional I cloud storage plan

    This is the downgrade method:
Choose Apple () menu > System Preferences, then click the iCloud icon.
    Click the Manage button.
    Click Change Storage Plan.
    Click Downgrade Options.
Enter your Apple ID password, then click Manage.
Choose the required plan, then click Done.
However I don't know whether you can elect to use credit: possibly you could go to your Account in the iTunes Store and remove the credit card - this is a guess, but it might force it to use credit.

  • I can't download any more on my ipad due to my icloud storage being full.  The ipad came with the icloud free storage but now it seems that i have to pay for more storage on icloud.  Do i have to?  What if i dont want icloud?

The ipad is my son's so he doesn't really need the icloud as he only uses his ipad to play apps.  The ipad seems to have a lot of unused capacity but it won't let him download any more apps without paying for additional icloud storage.  Do we have to use icloud or can we just use the ipad without icloud and keep downloading apps until the ipad capacity is full?

Should be able to. I dont' use iCloud and I have no issue downloading apps.
you may need to be patient though, from what some have said, it may be that the app store is a bit swamped and busy with all the new iPad owners.

  • TS3992 My iPad hasn't backed up to iCloud for 2 weeks so I've connected it to my laptop and it still won't backup and this is AFTER I paid for extra iCloud storage. I'm so frustrated because it keeps saying back-up failed but I don't know why.

My iPad hasn't backed up to iCloud for 2 weeks after repeated attempts even AFTER I paid extra for more iCloud storage. I've connected it to my laptop and it still won't backup. I'm so frustrated because it keeps saying back-up failed but I don't know why. Please help, thanks!

To back up to your computer, right-click on the name of your iPad on the left side of iTunes and click Back Up.  (If running iTunes 11, first go to View>Show Sidebar.)
To get your iPad to back up to iCloud again, try deleting your last backup (if you have one) by turning off iCloud Backup in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage, swipe across your backup and tap Delete, then go back and turn iCloud Backup back on again.  If it still won't back up, you may have an app that is preventing the backup from succeeding.  To locate which one, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your device under Backups, under Backup Options tap Show All Apps, then turn them all to Off (including camera roll) and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, then the camera roll and/or one of your apps is preventing the backup and you'll have to located by process of elimination. Turn the camera roll On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, turn some of your apps to On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds again, turn some more apps to On then try again; repeat this process until it fails.  Eventually you'll be able to locate the problem app and exclude it from your backup.
If it still won't back up you may have network issues connecting to the iCloud server.  Solutions to that include power-cycling your wireless router (unplugging it for 15 seconds, then plugging it back in), resetting network settings on your phone (in Settings>General>Reset), updating the firmware on your router, and changing the router's DNS settings to use Google's public DNS (see https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using).

  • I purchased a movie on apple tv (via itunes, I assume...). I clicked "download available purchases" on my pc, but it's not showing up. I don't have enought space on icloud to store the movie and I refuse to pay for more storage. Any ideas?

I purchased a movie on apple tv. I then went to my pc and clicked "check for available downloads", but the movie is not there. I don't have enough storage to put the movie on icloud, and i refuse to pay for more storage to move something that i already paid for. any suggestions?

It looks like the answer is to log out of iTunes and then back in.  That allowed Rentals to show up in my Movies Library.  I rebooted about three times which didn't work.  I closed the application and restarted it many times which didn't work.
The solution was to log out of my username and then back in.  That worked.

Not photos, just data synced with iCloud shown in Settings>iCloud.  If you don't have sufficient storage to back up to iCloud, back up to your computer instead using iTunes (connect you phone to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of your phone in iTunes, go to ths Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and click Back Up Now).  Also transfer your purchases to your iTunes library (connect your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases). If you have photo stream photos older than 30 days tha you wan to save, save these to your camera roll before backing up (tap Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon -- box with upward facing arrow, then tap Save to Camera Roll).
When setting up your new phone, when given the option choose Restore from iTunes Backup and restore the backup you made earlier.

  • Anyone know if you can use your credit amount on your iTunes card to pay for yearly iCloud more backup storage?

Anyone know if you can use your credit amount on your iTunes card to pay for yearly iCloud more backup storage?

Thank you. I will try it... I'm trying Not to use my credit/debit card online.. I have both iTunes credit & App Store card credit on my iTunes I hope this works! I don't want my storage down graded before I can get another iTunes card.. I wish they had an extension date for few days.. (More personal note - single mom,y child is sick & so not going to store in the next few days to purchase iTunes card..)
Why wouldn't they allow App Store credit to be used since its used to buy apps & songs via iTunes.. Seems kinda misrepresenting to be an apple card that connects all these apps & devices together, but you can only utilize iTunes card credit or credit/debit card for iCloud...!!??
