Payment info problem

Have never changed the payment info on my Apple ID then outa nowhere says it's declined because of some previous purchase? I can't even download free apps how do ya fix that

You change the payment information of your Apple ID to a form of payment that is valid.
Did your credit card expire?  Did you run out of iTunes money?
The way it works is that when you request a download, that download usually immediately happens.  Whether it's an app that costs money or an in-app purchase, the request usually processes quickly.  Then, later, the required payment is submitted and applied against your payment on file.  If your credit card has expired, for example, then your payment is declined.  At that point, once you have an unpaid balance on your account, then all future purchases/downloads are prohibited.  Until the payment issue is settled, you cannot use that Apple ID to download anything else.  You still have access to previously purchased content, but you can't get anymore.
It's like going to a restaurant, ordering dinner, then not being able to pay.  You got your product/service first, but if you can't pay, they're going to ask you to leave (if not actually call the cops), and they won't let you back in until you settle your bill.  Unlike the restaurant, Apple's (probably) not going to call the cops on you, and if you settle your bill, they'll let you be a customer again.  A restaurant might still refuse you service in the future even after settling your tab.

  • Maestro card payment info problem. Please help...

    I have recently got a new credit card. Im 15 and from Slovenia.
    Now when i try to set up my payment method (i use maestro), there are a few weird things. First of all, i must use Amex as a card type. Which it isnt, but its the only card type that can actually go through.
    Then again, the card number. Since i use ipod touch i cannot change the keyboard so i am stuck with the number keyboard, and of course the card number starts with an S (and that S is the only letter in it). So that means i cant enter my card number? Or am i so dumb and am doing the whole thing wrong?

    I suspect that because you are not 18 years old you are not eligible for an AMEX card, and Apple will not accept charges from anyone under 18. And, there also may be payment recovery issues in your country.

    Is there any sort of error message on the payment details screen on your account ? If not then if you enter your card's security code does that trigger an error message ?

  • ITunes is asking for payment info for a child's AppleID

    All iPads have been updated to OS8. Desktop is waiting for Yosemite. My child (age10) has had an Apple ID for many years with a false birthday. I am trying to get Family Share to work correctly and turn on Ask to Buy.  My child is the only member of my Family Share
    After browsing support posts, I retroactively changed the date to the youngest possible (age 13) as many other parents have done.  Before the Family Share existed, I used to split the AppleID on my child's iPad so that I could share content. Many years ago, when I set up my child's personal AppleID, I set up her iPad with iCloud using her AppleID, and iTunes using mine so that purchases had to be approved and my AppleID could maintain all the kid-friendly content I'd been purchasing for years.  When I first set up family sharing, I forgot that iTunes will was using my Apple ID, so when I tried to turn on "Ask to Buy" I got a message saying 
    "Cannot Enable Ask to Buy"
    Adin is sharing purchases from an
    account also used by another family
    member. Ask to Buy can be enabled
    only on accounts that are not shared.
    So I logged out of iTunes on my child's iPad and used her AppleID instead. But then iTunes wanted credit card info for purchases, so obviously iTunes does not recognize that she is a child in my Family Share plan. I can't troubleshoot the problem on my Mac because Yosemite isn't available yet. I opted to leave my child's AppleID logged into iTunes, on her iPad, without payment info. I still get the same message when I try to turn on Ask to Buy for my child from my iPad.
    HELP!

    Run System Profiler.  Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then "About This Mac", then "More Info..."
    Check under both Applications and Frameworks for Quicktime.  Applications are the actual Player application itself.  I believe Frameworks is the underlying system software support.  If you see something different there it might be that about which iTunes is complaining.  On my computer both say the same, but I'm not having the issue.
    I'm guessing here but if you re-installed the system using Archive and Install,  your applications were left intact and that's why your Player is 7.7, but all your system software (includingQT framework) was replaced with earlier versions which may be why the you're seeing different versions.  iTunes doesn't need the Player, but it does need the underlying QT software.

    Last evening at 6:54 I received this notification:
    On 09/30/2014, we attempted to charge your account for your 20 GB iCloud storage plan, but there is still a problem with your payment information.
    "No problem," I said to myself, "that's the card we just cancelled. I'll put a new one in tomorrow.
    This morning I discovered that at 1:54am, 7 hours later and in the middle of the night, this came in:
    We were unable to successfully bill your payment method. As a result, your 20 GB storage plan has been cancelled effective today and we will no longer bill your payment method.
    As aggravating as that is, what's worse is that when I go to iPhone Settings | iCloud | Account | Payment it shows my credit card information but won't allow me to change it.
    Anyone have any idea what's going on? I suspect it has something to do with the new iCloud Drive service and Yosemite/iOS8 sync, but....
    UPDATE: Managed to update card by going to iTunes | Quick Links | Account and iPhone now shows correct card. But it still won't allow any changes from that iPhone, contrary to instructions at iCloud: View or change your iCloud payment information

    Went through a similar iteration of this this morning. Was in the hospital when the email came out saying there was a payment problem. Found out this AM when I looked in my email and saw the cancellation of my 20GB account. Changed the payment info, bought the 20 GB plan...and after a couple of "chats" and phone calls to half-dozen people, was told that the change to 25GB plan was a promotion and since I didn't make it (payment issue), too bad. So.... guess I'm out 5GB. Too bad there wasn't something between the 20GB and the 200GB plans. A.r.g.h.h.h.

    Can you answer me a question.   I clicked on report a problem to see what the page actually said ... and it came up with the details of my last iTunes purchase plus some personal details too.     Would you know if this screen automatically throws up the last individual purchase of whoever links to it ... and it is secure.
    If this is an abberation would you have a contact link to get immediate attention.

    Hello. I seem to have the same problem and I've been trawling the net for similar cases.
    My old card was misplaced and had been discontinued so I was trying to put in the new details for the replacement card. The form you have on the website is quite different from all the other e-commerce forms I've encountered: no type of card (visa, mastercard, etc), no name of bank and no security number options. I've been told that my card is invalid and I should check my card details which I find strange because the only detail the form is asking for is the credit card number.
    I was in touch with three different customer support personnel (2 on chat and 1 on the phone) yesterday trying to solve the same problem. One sent me a link to the help page, one gave me a customer support phone number to call but the number was invalid and the last one (who I was able to call using a different support phone number) tried to guide me through the process (which I already tried to do myself prior to calling customer support) but told me that because my account had expired (because I couldn't update the card details) I would have to subscribe again using a new Adobe ID.
    I would like to know if the last option is my only recourse to getting back on Creative Cloud?

  • Payment info changes not saved

    Hi,
    I'm trying to update my billing info after getting a new card. The problem is, when I submit the info, it isn't saved but the old info of a dead card remains there. No error messages.
    Tried to resolve this with a chat agent, but he was no help, as he didn't have access to payment info and he referred me to call the phone support. Have done that once and they were no help either, plus it is huge stress trying to understand the people on the phone even though I've gigged as an English to Finnish interpreter. Not going to call them again.
    Since my recurring payment declined last summer I've apparently run my CC for free until I could get a new card, but I guess you guys would like to get paid something before my subscription needs renewing…
    Now, is there anyone at Adobe that can either call me in Finnish or resolve my problem through written English?

    I kept having this problem, reset my iTunes password, verified account information several times, all with the same (bad) result.  Finally, I actually went into the "Edit" section of my credit card and found that because I tried to access my account via another computer or device, i.e. Apple TV, I had to reenter my 3 digit credit card security code.  That fixed the problem for me.

    I had the same problem, it was asking for my security code and never was accepted. What I did is:
    Open iTunes - Go to Store -> View my account -> Enter the password
    Click Edit in the Payment information section
    It will ask for your security code, click on the NONE button and then DONE. It will say that you do not have any credit card on file anymore.
    Click Edit again in the Payment Information secction and enter the correct credit card and click DONE.
    It will store the new information and then you can use the correct security code in your IOS devices.
