Payment Program and Spot Exchange Rate Type

Hi Everyone,
When performing wire transfers in foreign currency, my company wants to be able to have the payment program, F110, be able to convert the payment to the vendor based on the bank's spot rate at that moment in time.  I found that we can use exchange rate type "G", update the rate within OB08 prior to running F110, input the exchange rate type "G" within the Parameter section within "Exchange rate type" and process the payment program as normal.
My question is this:  We have a few separate companies that would use this feature with the possibility of receiving different rates from their respective banks.  How would this work if 2 companies had 2 separate exchange rates for the same conversion on the same day?  I found that once you enter in an exchange rate for a conversion, you are stuck with that rate for that particular day, so the amount can not be over written with another rate to be used by the second company code.  Is there a way around this or is there a different way to accomplish the converting of currencies at the payment program?
Thanks.

Hi Peter
Use two different exchange rate type for bank1 and bank1. Upload the exchange rate into the system. Select house bank and specified rate type during the payment run.

  • One Conversion Type and two Exchange Rate Types in one report

I have Conversion Type called TEST. In this Conversion Type there is Exchange Rate Type D selected (D-daily). I have also Fixed Target Currency selected. And the report works perfectly fine....BUT.......there is also Exchange Rate Type M defined in the system (and it used for the exchange rate used last day of the month).
The question is: how to put both Exchange Rate Types into one Conversion Type so both types are used in the reports?

    Hi,
You can go for a variable exchange rate type.
    Creating variable:
For this you have create a varible which can take diffrent exchange rate types.
Open query designer create a new dummy query in that search for infoprovider 0RTYPE.
It will have one dimension(name ->key) with 0RTYPE in it.
    create a variable for 0RTYPE.
    Save and close the query.
goto RSCUR -> give your translation type -> go to exchange rate tab -> choose Ex. Rate from var option -> give the variable you have created prviously for 0RTPYE.
Rest all same but just for completion...
Go to your query in which in u want to do cur conversion.
Double click on the key fig
Go to conversions tab-> select the conversion type u created in RSCUR.
When you run the query you can select the exchange rate type in the variable screen.

  • Exchange rate type P is replaced with M

    Hi,
We are using CATS for time booking and the process is as follows:
    1) CAT2 -> Hours booked.. Lets assume: 9 HRs
    2) CATS_APPR_LITE - > Time sheet approval -> Approved 9 Hrs
    3) CAT9 -> CATS data transfer to cost object(PM order) -> During this transaction, system does calculate the amount needs to be tranferred based on price maintained in KP26 and hours booked. Lets say KP26 price is $100. That means controlling document will be generated for amount $900.
Note - As per system configuration, exchange rate type will always be P whenever CATS posting will happen and controlling document gets generated. That means, currency conversion will take place based on the exchange rates maintained for type P.
So as per business requirement, we have done an enhancement to the existing CATS process:
Price is manually determined at the time of CAT2 and same will be considered till the controlling document is generated. So, no price determination during CAT9. Therefore the strategy says it is a manual determiination of price and the Exchange rate type is determined as "M" and thats an issue because we do want to pass manual price but we want Exchange rate type as "P" as well.
Is there any way out or settings availabe in SAP or any user exit or an enhancement to achieve this functionality?
    Thanks,
    Aby

    Hi Aby,
I believe these notes contain good information for this case:
1073979 (which I think is already in your system and therefore this behavior).
    and
    691613 (which explains the strategies)
Also, please check the entry you have defined in the transaction OKEV.
There, the system will make the translation depending on the
    exchange rate defined.
    I hope this helps.

  • Implications of change of Exchange Rate Type from P to M in Version in CO

    Hi SAP Experts,
We have a requirement to change the exchange rate type in Versions. In fact, exchange rate type P has been configured in Version 0. This version is being used in Costing Variant PPC1. Price updations are being made with this costing variant. Costing Variant PPC2 is being used for internal evaluations. No price updations have been done using this costing variant.
Client wants exchange rate type M in a new version to use in costing variant PPC2. I have created a new version X and assigned exchange rate type M in new version X. I have assigned the same version in Receiver version of Profitability Analysis and Version for indicators actual.allocations in Orders/Projects tab in T-code OKEQ. In Settings for Operating Concern, I have assigned currency type "Operating Concern currency" and exchange rate type M. Cost center activity price planning (KP26) has been done with new version X for all the cost centers.
My question is "Will the above changes affect any Plan or Actual values of other versions existed in the system ?"
Please let me know will there any affect on already planned data in the system with any version.
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    K.S.K

I don't think it's going to impact other versions but you may need to do simple test for other versions. One more thing is versions are controlling area specific and the M or P rates will be applied based on value date you setup in OKEQ configuration.
You don't need to assign the version for  'Version for ind.act.alloc.'  indicator until unless you use WBS for project planning. By default it will be assigned to zero version.
    Thanks

  • Exchange Rate Types Used In What Transactions

    Hi Experts!
I was inquiring on if there is a way to see all exchange rate types ("M" and alternative exchange rate types), with respects to where they are used, posted, and most importantly, what all transactions use them.  The exchange rate types we use are M (system), Z1 (custom), and 0011 (custom).  Even if there is a SAP note, on this, that would be helpful too.  Urgent!  Thank you for your time!
    WC

    Hi Will,
Execute transaction code <b>OB07</b> to see all the exchange rate types within your system.
The following should help you to understand where they are used and which transactions used them.
In <b>planning</b>, exchange rate types are used to specify exchange rates used for different purposes at the same time in the system. Existing entries may not be deleted.
When exchange rate conversions take place between many different currencies, using a reference currency can simplify maintenance of exchange rates. For the exchange rate types concerned, you then only have to specify the exchange rates in relationship to the reference currency for all currencies. The SAP R/3 System then carries out all exchange rate conversions in two steps, using the reference currency.
    As well as a <b>buying rate</b> "<b>G</b>", you can also maintain a <b>selling rate</b> "<b>B</b>".
The buying rate is that under which the average rate "<b>M</b>" is recorded.
When maintaining a buying rate, enter the appropriate currency type for the average rate. This reduces the amount of work required in the conversion table.
The selling rate is that under which the average selling rate is recorded.
The user need only maintain the conversions for the average rate. The conversion occurs by determining the average rate and then adding the difference between the rates to this rate.
If an entry for a currency conversion is missing, the indicator Invert ensures that the reversed currency relationship, should one exist, is available for the conversion.
    <u><b>Standard settings</b></u>
The standard R/3 System includes exchange rate type <b>P</b> (standard translation for cost center accounting).
    <u><b>Note</b></u>
When you create a controlling area, the SAP R/3 System creates version 000 automatically for 5 years. Rate type <b>P</b> is defaulted.
The R/3 System uses rate type <b>M</b> for currency conversion during postings and clearings of documents.
    <u><b>Recommendation</b></u>
Before creating your own exchange rate types, check those offered by SAP and use them if appropriate.
    I hope the above helps.
Do not forget to award the points please.
    Regards,
    Jacob

  • KP98 - Differences because of exchange rate types

    Hello,
I am using KP98 transaction to copy actual data to plan data.
I take CO area currency for example and the system copy the amount correctly in my CO area currency, but in object currency there is a difference because of the exchange rate types ( actual and budget exchange rate types are different)
Is it possible to copy the same amount in the two currencies?
    Thanks a lot

    Hi,
during copying the data in CO area currency are converted into local currency based on the ex.rate settings in the CO version definition, the local curr. data is not really copied.
If you have an ex. rate that is changed every period it should be possible to copy the first period (with the correct ex.rate settings in CO version definition), change the ex.rate setting, copy the next period, change the ex. rate setting again, copy again,...

  • AP- Why exchange rate type between Post invoice and Post payment is differe

AP- Why exchange rate type between Post invoice and Post payment is different ?
    Hello,
    I have question
when post AP invoice , document type KR
    document date = 11.12.2009
    posting date = 31.12.2009
    entry date = 05.01.2010
this document using exchange rate type B (standard translation at bank selling rate) on 31.12.2009 (use posting date )
but when post payment for above document, document type ZP
    document date = 25.06.2010
    posting date = 25.06.2010
    entry date = 24.06.2010
this document using exchange rate type M (standard translation at average rate) on 23.06.2010
    please answer
why do post invoice and post payment use different exchange rate type?
and why at payment donot use posting date for get exchange rate ?

    Nanas,
Sorry if im not  being clear...
My point is: the difference rates customization for payments is done at FBZP.
At Paying Company Codes, you have 4 flags for exchange rates differentes.
    At Control Data look:
*Do not Post any Exchange Rate Differences:
If the indicator is not set, the difference between the exchange rate at the time of posting and the exchange rate at the time of payment is determined for items which are posted in foreign currency. The payment program uses the translation rate in the currency table in the system for this purpose.
*No Exchange Rate Differences for Partial Payments:
Has the effect that the payment program for partial payments (requests for payment using transaction F-59) does not post exchange rate differences.
*Processing of Bill of Exchange Payments:
*Separate Payment for each Payment Reference

  • Payment program and exchange rate

    Hey Gurus,
When i run the payment program to pay my foreign vendor in foreign currency the system does not calculate the exchange difference at the point of the payment program.
    Example.
invoice on 9/11 for 4267.50AUD the rate 1.2154 =3511.19usd run the payment program on 9/17 the rate is 1.18840. it pays out 3511.9 instead of 3590.96usd. The difference between the 3511.19 and 3590.96 would be the exchange loss or gain.
What is missing, or how should the system do it.
Then when the bank pays the order at the bank rate, the rate in the books and the bank rate are different, therefore different payment amounts, how do you set up the system to reconcile the two and generate another exchange rate.
    Please
    Thank you

Thank you for your quick response!!
What if i don't know the banks rate at the time of the payment program, which is what the case is going to be.
I guess my question is does the payment program calculate the exchange gain or loss when clearing the invoice , if so what settings make it do that?
And once the clearing is done and i receive the bank statement the two amount would be different due to the different exchange rates, how do i make the bank statement reconcile the two and post and exchange gain or loss.
    Please help this is urgent.
    Thank you

  • Different Exchange Rate Type for Vendors and Customers Invoices

    Dear Friends,
We have configured different exchange rate types for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable thru T Code OB07. What are the additional Config steps required to ensure that the respective buying and selling rates will apply to Accounts Payables and Receivables. We do not want to stipulate the exchange rate types in Document Types as this special exchange rates are applicable only for one of the Company Codes.
Would appreciate your help in this regard.
    Regards,

    Hi,
Then you can use a different document type for those company codes and can default the exchange rate type there.
    OR,
The alternative wya is to use the substitution in OBBH/ GGB1 for those company codes with exit programming.

  • Foreign Exchange Rate Type - M and EURO

    Hi All,
My customer is maintainng the M exchange rate type as
    1 USD = 106 JPY
along with this they are maintiaing a extra Exchange rate Type EURO as
    106 JPY = 1 USD
    Comany Code Currency is JPY.
In the document Type level they are not maintaing any of the exchage rate type. Means system is picking default exchnage rate type. As we know M is the default exchange rate type.
So, now customer doesnt want to maintain the EURO exchange rate type.
    So,  i want to know
    1. if customer not want to maintain the EURO exchange rate then it would give any impact on the working.
2.Is any realtion between to maintain the two exchnange rate type.
    3. On a document level, can we know that by using which exchnage rate it was processed. whether its was processed from M or EURO. We want to know the Exchange rate type of each document.
    4. In M Exchane rate type we have both Direct and Indirect Quotation for same currency pair. So in this case which qutation system would take for the document processing as default quotation for a exchange rate type M.
    Looking for early response.
    Sachin

    1. if customer not want to maintain the EURO exchange rate then it would give any impact on the working.
<There is no impact as long as this is not used by any other applications. For eg, In controlling, project system, budget, at FI document type level etc, we have option of choosing different exchange rate.
2.Is any realtion between to maintain the two exchnange rate type.
    No relation
    3. On a document level, can we know that by using which exchnage rate it was processed. whether its was processed from M or EURO. We want to know the Exchange rate type of each document.
< You can see this at Table level eg - BKPF. But at front end I dont think it is possible atleast upto 4.6C4. In M Exchane rate type we have both Direct and Indirect Quotation for same currency pair. So in this case which qutation system would take for the document processing as default quotation for a exchange rate type M.
<To my knowledge, System will not allow to maintain rates in both types. so question of option doesnt come>

  • Needs Diff. Exchange rates type for sales trans and Purc Trans

    Hi Gurus,
My requirement is that for a same foreign currency i need to pick two different rates one for purchase related activites and another for sales related activites. is that possible in standard SAP.
    Example of my scenario:
My company code currency is INR.
on 10.09.2007 if i make purchase of goods in USD system picks the rate i maintain for usd from the exchange rate type "M".
On the same day if i make any sales in USD system is picking it again from the same exchange rate type "M', but i want to pick it from exchange rate type "G".
Kindly Advice me what to be done.
    Thanks and Regards
    Karthik

    Hi,
For SD related transactions, you can maintain the exchange rate in Customer Master - Sales Area Data. In Sales Tab you can maintain "Exchange Rate Type" for transactions related to that Customer.
Probably, for MM you can continue with the standard M.
    Thanks

  • HOw to see currency pairs in Exchange rate type

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to see currency pairs in an exchange rate type?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I am not sure this is a right solution.  But I have some inputs on your requirements:
    1. For traveller cheques you may create a new payment method and do the required configuration for automatic payment program.  Don't generate any payment medium while running APP.
    2. For currency notes (cash payment) I am not sure how it works.  But probably it is possible by creating an account (account ID) for a particular house bank and use that (house bank & account id) for making payment.
Per my knowledge we have never used payment method cash (currency notes) in APP.  But logically it would work by create a new payment method and doing the required config for APP.
Please update if you found a better way to do this.
    thanks & regards,
    Kumar

  • Default Exchange Rate Type

    Dear All,
If we do not assign any exchange rate type to any document type or customer / vendor master data, the system picks the default 'M' exchange rate type. Can anyone let me know where this default setting has been made and whether this setting can be changed? What if I do not maintain exchange rates for 'M' instead I do it for 'M1'
I have a scenario, wherein I want to make exchange rate type other than 'M' as default and we do not want to make it at the document type level or customer / vendor master data level.
To make things more clear, this is not related to the realignment / foreign currency valuation. This is related to recording of invoice export / import or credit / debit notes..
Can anyone let me know how would this be possible?
    Full points guaranted

    Hi Swapvik,
The exchange rate type always is set "M" as default. The only way to
change the exchange rate type is with the customizing in the document type. If you are running the automatic payment program, you can also select a different exchange rate type. However, for normal document postings (trans. FB01), there is no other solution but to choose a different document type.
    For example:
If you want to use exchange rate type B instead of M, in customizing you have to give Alt Ex.Type as B against M. So that it will take B rate whenever M is applicable. If you want this B rate to be applicable for specific document types then you can do  the same at document type definition itself. Otherwise you can do the same At Payment program level/ Revaluation. These are the only places where exch.type comes into picture.
Please be advised that you can not change the default exchange rate type
for the 1st local currency. The default type for 1st local currency KURST of M cannot be changed. SAP does not allow for customers to setup a company code with an exchenage rate type other than M for the 1st local currency (because this could lead to exchange rate differences in the system which are not allowed).
Exchange rates are defined in SAP at a Global level via transaction OB08. In the IMG documentation for transaction OB08 (path General Settings > Currencies > Enter exchange rates) it explains that:
'The exchange rates apply to all company codes'
'The system uses the type M exchange rates for foreign currency
translation when posting and clearing documents. An entry must exist in
the system for this exchange rate type. The exchange rates apply to ALL
    Company Codes.'
    Hope this information helps.

  • Exchange Rate type Assignment to Company Code

    Hi,
I'm working on the implementation of a new company code on a SAP R/3 4.6c release. I've created a new exchange rate type EURH (with transaction OC47) and I would like to know hot to assign it to my new Company Code.
Is there a specifc standard transaction? Could you please suggest me a possible solution.
    Thanks!

    Hi
Exchange rate type you cannot assign to a company code. Where as you can specify explicitly while document entry.
By default in SAP for a new company code system will use 'M' rate as standard. If you want to replce this exachange rate type with your new exchange rate type then goto SPRO --> General Settings --> Currencies --> Define transilation ratios for currency translation
Maintain new exchange rate type as Alt.ERT against 'M' rate then system will take new exchange rate instead of 'M' rate. Otherwise as I said earlier, you can use created exchange rate type in any company code by specifying in document entry or payment program, or  you even can assign ex.rate type to a Document type, etc.,
    Hope above helps.
