Payment type is missing the "none" button

I have an iPod touch. Logged on to my apple account through itunes, I wanted to put none for my account payment and the "none" button is there on the payment information page. Now I can't even download my updates on my ipod.

I haven't gotten anywhere, unfortunately.
Just to confirm we're having the same problem: I'm using a 4th generation iPod touch and I'm using the Nike+ iPod app to link to the Nike+ Sensor that goes in the insert in the shoe.
After I finish a workout, I click "Send to Nike+" which switches to Safari and loads nikeplus.com. I log in and... it doesn't seem to do anything else... Nothing shows up on nikeplus.com.
Has this pretty much been your experience as well?

Because you are 9 days late with your monthly payment!!!!
You signed a contract to pay your bill by a certain date and now you are not keeping up with your side of the agreement!!!

Unless you used the instructions on the HT2534 page that you posted from when creating the account then you won't get the 'none' option - if you don't use those instructions then credit card details will need to be entered before an account can be used in the stores.

If you want to use the same email address on a new account then you can change it on the one that you've already created by logging into it via the Store > View Account menu option on your Mac's iTunes or via http://appleid.apple.com

I would like to remove my old credit card info from my account and start using only gift and prepaid iTune cards. However, the None button is not showing on the page. If None is not available - On your computer launch iTunes and click "iTunes Store" in the left navigation pane. Click the "down arrow" next to your name at the top right side of the page and click "Account." Enter your username and password and click "View Account" to log into your account information. Next to your Payment Type, click "Edit." Select the "None" button and click "Done." Confirm that your card has been removed by returning to the Apple account information screen. Under Payment Type, it should say that there is no credit card on file.

You need to follow, exactly, the instructions on the HT2534 page that you posted from when creating an account - if you don't use those instructions then credit card details will need to be entered before the account can be used to download any item (after entering your card's details you should then be able to remove them).
I've just tried the instructions and been able to create a new account with 'none' as the payment option, verified the account, and downloaded a free app.

You need to ask Apple for assistance with getting back into your old ID. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to resolve this issue through the Account Security team, fill out and submit this form.

I'm happy you figured it out and just try to keep in mind that not everyone you talk to at support will give the same advice or have the same knowledge. Just like those who contribute to these forums. Sometimes Google is your best friend.
I agree that Apple could probably make it easier, but as of yet prefer security over freedom. (sound famaliar?)

I went to change my billing info after my son bought things without my permission, and I can't change my billing info to None because the None button is not present.

You have to resolve the problem before you can use the account for anything. Have you contected iTunes?

You can create a NEW account using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.

That was 7 hours ago. I contacted the help chat department and was told it would take 24 hours to process. Is this normal?? Why would the screen tell me "a few minutes" if it's actually 24 hours? Has anyone else had this problem? I am so tempted to just refresh the page and try my luck with my credit card canceling a second payment should it happen. THAT might be faster.
