PayPal on iWeb

I've made an iWeb site and signed up to .Mac 'cause I couldn't figure out how to upload an iWeb site anywhere else..
I want to put a PayPal button on one of the pages, but PayPal give you the html code, and you can only put text on an iWeb page - when I put the html code on, it comes up as code when viewed online, not as a button.
How do I make the button show up? Is there a place, either on iWeb or on .Mac, where I can edit the source code of a page?

you need to run the published folder (all sites inside) thru an app called iWebmore
after that, your code will be perfect, asuming you have followed the right instructions by entering the code.

If you want to remove underlines or change your links colours you open your css files (in each published website folder) with textedit, and change the 6digit colour and change the 'underline' text to 'none'

I have created a web page in iWeb 06, and have copied the html code from paypal to insert a "pay now" button. However, I am confused as to how or where to input this information into site. I do not understand nor write html code, so step by step help would be great. Thanks so much.

Please kermitjazz what was the answer you got for your paypal question. I'm having the same problem. I hope you can share me the clue. Tks. I repeat your question as follows to remind.

  • Using Paypal on iWeb?

    Hi,
I've been reading about how to create a single button for my products through paypal. It's going to be a real pain because I have a lot of products and they are all different prices. Does Paypal have a cart system where you don't have to itemize it all? Can you just click purchase the item and then somehow it figures it all out? Maybe I'm dreaming for this option and it doesn't exist.

Not real clear on what you are asking for. You have to itemize things at least in set up with paypal or any shopping cart, otherwise how would it know what to calculate as a price and shipping?
I use the free paypal shopping cart, and set up a separate button for each item, but it automatically adds it to the shopping cart and keeps a running total and shipping charges.
    See here .....

Play with it, add several items, see if this is what you need it to do?
    Hope this helps.

  • Creating a shopping cart in iweb?

Does Apple have software that allows me to create a shopping cart in Iweb?

No.  You will have to integrate PayPal into iWeb by creating a PayPal business account.
You can also do a Google search for shopping carts.

  • IWEB to create a site for online purchasing

I have a friend that sells old books, and want to set up a web site to do this online, would you say that this is slightly ambitious for an iWEB based development , i.e. how do you manage a small data base ? provide search functions and actually handle the payments side of the transaction ?
    thx
    John

You can integrate PayPal into iWeb. It means that you would have to go and set up a PayPal business account and then use the PayPal logo on your site, then list the books for sale and people would click on purchase and go and pay straight away via PayPal.
Your other option is to create a shopping cart separately and then link to it from your website, so people can then purchase the books.
You can have databases, but this means that you would have to publish your site to an external server at GoDaddy and it also means registering a domain name too.
Your other option of course is not to use iWeb at all and go for something like http://www.weebly.com. You can create a site online and I think you can integrate a shopping cart into this.
If you already have a domain name and hosting, your other alternative is to use something like Drupal, which is a content management system, where you can have databases and there is also a shopping cart module that you can install. This might be a better way to go, but it can be quite a steep learning curve.

My (writing) blog is created with iWeb & hosted on MobileMe at http://web.me.com/homeworld/kb/blog/blog.html
This links to a number of other pages at http://www.kennedybrandt.com, all of which (except the root URL landing page) were created in iWeb but hosted via FTP.
I like iWeb as an authoring tool, but MobileMe really only adds value to my blog.

  • Commercial use of iWeb

Can I use iWeb for commercial uses, such as providing services and products payable by credit card? For example, if I made pottery items, posted pictures of them on iWeb and sold them using PayPal credit card services (where I would need to include a shopping cart feature)? This would not be for big business purposes, more of a "mom and pop" type deal.

    Hi tennart,
I'm not selling any items on my iWeb site but I can't see any reasons for not doing so.

  • Iweb carts and checkout.

When using paypal in iweb, someone can put an item in a cart and then the invoice is auto generated in paypal... the user needs to go back to the site and add other items into their cart - which opens paypal back up (if they have a paypal account. Does googles checkout work the same exact way? I want to be able to add items to the cart, one after another and THEN go to the checkout.
What software may I do THAT in?
    Thanks!

  • More than one editor (computer) for iWeb and using paypal

I am not a full-time Mac user, but have been asked to complete a website for a client who has started one in iWeb. She wishes to continue her site in iWeb so that she can make future changes to it. Currently, we have different versions of iWeb on our computers (hers is 2.0.4, mine is 1.0.2). It is my understanding so far that we would need the same version to be able to edit the site on both computers.
Before I can agree to finish the site for her, I would like to confirm that if I upgrade my computer to iLife 08, and she publishes the website to MobileMe, I would be able to retrieve the site and work on it from my computer and vice versa.
Also, she wishes to incorporate paypal in her site. Would this be an issue?
    Thank you.

    previllej wrote:
Also, would I be able to retrieve her domain file with iDisk (through MobileMe, right?)?
Yes, that's right. For transferring iWeb's Domain file you could use iDisk's Public folder. The general address is:
    http://public.me.com/membername
    And here's an example:
    http://public.me.com/emily_parker
But before transferring the Domain file, read "NOTE 1" here:

    previllej wrote:
I had not heard of the PayPal rule for MobileMe - I will look into this. If you have a link to the documentation for it, please let me know.
+"The Service is designed for personal use and not intended to be used for commercial business purposes, including, but not limited to, *transacting online sales* or software distribution via an e-commerce site."+ ...Quoted from the _MobileMe Terms of Service_.
So yes, you could upgrade to iWeb '08 in order to be able to open the Domain file transferred via iDisk. But if the site is using PayPal, you are not supposed to publish it to MobileMe — instead, publish it to a folder and then FTP to another host.

  • IWeb not publishing PayPal button widget

As per Burns Media (see below). I have taken the proper steps to insert a PayPal button. However the button does not show up on the published site. I've done this in the past and it did work but not now. I have the latest update to iWeb and running OSX 6.4.2 Is there a problem with these updates or am I just missing something?
    Thanks for your help!
    Jerry
Burns Media Posted this: You can certainly use PayPal on your iWeb site, and it's fairly easy. You would indeed use the HTML Widget - first, log in to your PayPal account (or create one if you don't have one) and follow the steps to create a new button (Buy Now, Pay Now, Gift Certificate, etc.) When you've finished making the button, the last step gives you some HTML code to copy and paste into the HTML Widget. Copy the code from the PayPal site, in iWeb drag the HTML Snippet to your page and in the box that pops up paste the code. Hit Apply and you're done! When you publish the site, visitors can click your "Buy Now" box and be taken to PayPal to buy.

I think this is very similar to the instructions you posted, but here is a visual demonstration showing how to add PayPal to an iWeb site

  • Paypal button in iWeb site

any idea how to introduce a PayPal payment button into an iWeb site. Paypal give a section of HTML but i don't know how to apply it to the site i am creating for commercial use.

Here's how I got a paypal button on my site at:
    http://www.rowan-cottage.co.uk/Site/ShopBlog/ShopBlog.html
Go to Paypal and create your button. You'll get to a page with all the HTML needed. Copy this HTML.
Open a text box on your page the size of the button eg, 62 px by 31 px.
Type in the box some recognisable, unique text, eg, PaypalHTML, and change the font size of it so that's it fits in the tiny text box. You can horizontally centre the text or position it left or right, but don't vertically align it otherwise the text box changes into a png. You want it to remain a text box.
    Publish.
Open the page in your text/HTML editor.
Find and replace the text 'PaypalHTML' with the actual Paypal HTML.
That's it. That way there's no alignment problems and it goes where you want it to.
You use the same principle with banners served by other parties, scripts etc. See my links page for more examples:
    http://www.rowan-cottage.co.uk/Site/Links.html
    I hope that helps.

  • Paypal code not working in iWeb?

I designed a website in Dreamweaver on my Windows PC. On it I was selling a book and payment could be made using Paypal so I got the code from the Paypal website, inserted into the DW website and it has been working great for years now.
I have today, redesigned the website using iWeb 09 [since I now have a Mac] and I used the same code as before but when I click the Paypal button it gives this error message "paypal cannot process this transaction as there is a problem with the sellers website...." yet it still works if I click the DW designed site.
Is there any reason why the code wouldn't work the same in iWeb? I used the HTML snippet too
Thank you for any help or suggestions you may have :-)
