PB G4 takes a while to connect

Ever since I installed my Extreme 802.11n, my PowerBook G3 (1.33 GHz) can take up to 12-13 seconds to connect after everything appears to be fully loaded (i.e., after top menu bar including clock, battery, etc appears.). Is this common? Here are some additional details:
- I also have a MacBook Pro that connects right away
- Prior to having the new Airport Extreme, I had a 2Wire Modem/Router (which died for the second time) and I did not experience this problem. It would always connect right away.
- Upon installing the Airport Extreme, my PB G4 would not automatically connect. I had to do this manually. After talking with support for quite a while, we ran disk utilities, found an error, and we repaired it. This was done from the install disks). After this, it would connect automatically... but only after this delay that I currently experience. Btw, if I'm in the same room as the Airport Extreme, then it's faster (2-5 seconds).
- If I go to my detached office, where I use an Airport Express to extend my network (I have a roaming network), then it connects right away. Granted, it's in a small office and my Mac is only feet away from the Airport Express. So that might be a moot issue. But I thought it could be relevant.
- I can tell when it's about ready to connect. When I power up the Mac, and every thing appears to be loaded (spotlight, clock, battery, etc.), my Mac is quiet. Then after a 5-13 seconds, I hear my hard drive start to process again, and then, finally, my airport connects. It's as if it's doing one last "start up" routine and then it connects.
So my question is, how common is it that it may take my PowerBook G4 10+ seconds to automatically connect after eveything else appears to be loaded?
If not, is there anything I can do to help speed this process up?

Make sure devices and desktop app are running on the same Wi-Fi. Also try to connect manually by entering the IP address of the machine where Edge Inspect CC app is installed.
If this doesn't help, please let me know the exact problem which you face.

Mavericks: Wifi takes a while to connect after sleep

Not sure if this question has been asked, but I'm finding this rather annoying. I just upgraded from Snow Leopard and there was a feature where with one simple touch on the trackpad, you can wake your Mac up after the screen goes to sleep after a period of inactivity. I understand that this feature is no longer available after the Lion and Mountain Lion upgrades. With Mavericks, after my Macbook goes to sleep, I push a key and it wakes up, but the wifi takes a while to reconnect, however with Snow Leopard, when I woke up my macbook, the wifi didn't have to reconnect. Is anyone else having this problem? Is this a bug? I hope Apple can come up for a fix for this, because aside from the fact that I can no longer use Pro Tools 9, I'm having free "buyer's remorse" for upgrading.

Nope, turning off my other router made no difference. Even after a couple of minutes of trying to get to any web page after waking/opening the lid it can't find anything online. Had to toggle wifi off/on again to get online.
Apple, please fix this annoyance. Thanks.

It takes a while to connect.

I have a 30 gig video and when I connect it to my computer itunes freezes for about 5-7 minutes then it shows the ipod, I am using a 1.0 usb port but when I connected my friend's 40 gig gen 4 ipod it appeared almost instantly. And idea why or how I can fix it?

You might want to look at Knowledge Base Document #93845 on Using USB to connect iPod.
You should think about getting a USB 2.0 card for your computer because you will notice a huge difference. USB 1.1 transfers data at a maximum speed of 12Mbps where as USB 2.0 transfers data at a maximum of 480Mbps. Do you see why it takes so long to transfer?

Edge inspect takes a while to connect

its been an hour. I can't connect my edge inspect says "waiting for a connection..." I just want to test responsive web design.

Why it's take a while to get a TCP Connection

I open VISA Interactive Control
and I see my USB Connection just in time,
but the TCP/IP Connection takes at least 5 min to be recognized.
What is the reason for this and can I force the auto detection?

Takes a while to play sound via audio interface on iMac

I purchased iMac along with Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 USB audio interface and started having following problems from the beginning.
When I play video/music on itunes, logic or whatever apps that plays sound, it takes a while(about 20 sec) to play sounds. Sometimes it does not play sounds at all until I turn the volume halfway up on Focusrite Scarlett 6i6. It happens all the time when I play sound for the first time after turning the computer on. It happens when I start using the computer after a while. Sometimes it turns off the sound even when the music/video is being played. I had problem with latest Scarlett driver and still happens after switching to class compliant mode. It seems like it takes time for the computer to wake 6i6 via USB, but I am not sure. Please help!

- late 2013 iMac / flash 1TB / GTX 780M / 32GB RAM
- mavericks 10.9.2
- Just Scarlett 6i6 connected directly via USB
- no other devices connected, just apple bluetooth keyboard, magic mouse and touchpad

Well I have done the disk cleanup and it still didnt fix it. I just got this player yesterday too I have about 3.5 gigs on it. I didnt get my usb 2.0 system yet, but im just really worried about these long load times for the songs on the player. Im gona try loading some mp3s and see how those go.
edit... I just loaded up some MP3s and they start in about 3-4 seconds. A lot faster then my WMAs from yahoo, but still I was expecting mp3s to play instantly pretty much.Message Edited by Johnwashere on 05-2-2005 2:26 AM

"Extracting this may take a while" for 4 hours

I downloaded the trial and had to download the adobe download assistant and it started downloading my file after it finished. After it finished downloading it said Extracting... This may take a while. Its been saying that for 4 hours now and it only took 30min to download. Is this normal and if not what can i do to fix it?

Check for the Internet connection. If its good, then try the same with a different broswer. Below link would help in this scenario,

OSX VPN takes a while because its loading custom icons

When I connect via VPN (PPTP) to the OSX Server it takes quite a while to show a directory containing TIF images, because they all have a custom icon (the icon is a thumbnail of the image). It doesn't matter whether I'm in List, Icon, or any other view.
The connection I'm on is a Cable Modem, and I'm connecting to the OSX Server that is sitting on a T3 line, and it just takes about a minute or two before I get a complete directory listing.
Is this normal over a VPN connection? I realize its encrypted and takes a while longer, but still....
I was just curious if there was a way to just show blank icons or not show thumbnails that have a preview, etc., and see if that would help.

"Extracting...this might take a while" message and download status bar running for 15 hours.

Having purchased Adobe Acrobat XI Pro Mac Download, and installed the program with Adobe Download Assistant, the program is loaded but the status bar has continued to run for 15 hours with a message underneath stating "Extracting...this might take a while". Also, a warning message appeared during download stating "The following disk images couldn't be opened"; (Image) AcrobatPro_11_Web_W, (Reason) error -4960. How do I complete this download?

Why do text notifications take a while to appear?

I am using an iPhone 6 that is just barely over a month old with the latest iOS update. I have not dropped my phone in any way that would damage it but I'm having issues with my text notifications. I will recieve a notification that says someone sent me a text 8 minutes or so ago but I only recived the notification just then. This problem only occurs when my phone is locked. And another issue I'm having is that I will open up a text conversation and new texts will not appear until a couple of seconds have passed (I can deal with this but if anyone has solutions they'd also be appreciated). If anyone has any solutions to these inconveniences please help. I'm considering taking the phone to Apple as soon as I get a chance. This is my first iPhone and I love it but I am fairly upset with this problem.

Select 'Reset Safari' from the Safari menu.
Close down Safari; move <home>/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db to the trash; restart Safari.
Change the DNS servers in your network settings to use the OpenDNS servers: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
Turn off DNS pre-fetching by entering the following command in Terminal and restarting Safari:

You can clearly see that the system object 'sapdev' is not configured correctly/at all - you are trying to launch transaction iView
(WEBGUI) and in order to do so you should configure the 'internet transaction server' category of the system object
with the hostname of the ITS server.
Generally the template is
