Check that your security software and settings aren't blocking your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
Make sure that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

A quick Google search for Error 2001 would indicate that this occurs when you have a jailbroken phone or were trying to downgrade iOS. Is that true for you?

Errors related to third-party security software
    Error 2, 4 (or -4), 6, 1000, 9006
Follow the steps to troubleshoot security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
There may be third-party software that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting a TcpWindowSize entry into your registry. An incorrectly set default packet size can cause these errors. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet size modification for assistance or follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Verify that access to ports 80 and 443 are allowed on your network.
Verify that communication to albert.apple.com or phobos.apple.com isn't blocked by a firewall or other Internet security setting.
Discard the .ipsw file, open iTunes and attempt to download the update again. See the steps under "Advanced steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw)" below for file locations.
Restore your device while connected to a different network.
    Restore using a different computer.

There's a whole lot to read in your post, and frankly I have not read it all.
Having said that, this troubleshooting guide should help:

In particular, pay attention to the mobile device support sections near the bottom, assuming you have already done the items above it.

  • HT4623 Iphone recovery mode

I can't turn on my iPhone at all. Its just all black. When I try to connect it to iTunes, it says, iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes. --- But how can I restore my iPhone if I can't even turn it on or something?
But then, I clicked the Restore iPhone, was extracting.. then suddenly, this came out. >>>
The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1604).
    Please help.

Your going to lose everything since your phone is in recovery mode.
If you've been backing up your phone regularly then you'll have no problem as you can restore to that backup.

my iphone says an unknown error occurred (9) when trying to restore in iphone recovery mode

    Hey there ejs11201,
I see that you are getting an error code when attempting to restore your iPhone. Here is an article that addresses that specific code with some troubleshooting steps and will help you resolve the issue:
    Check your security software
Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1611, 9006. Sometimes security software can stop your device from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your device.
Check your security software and settings to make sure that they aren't blocking a connection to the Apple servers.

  • IPhone 5 not turning on and is stuck in recovery mode

First off i have an 32gb iphone 5 which is running ios 7.0.4.
Last week my iphone kept crashing and restarting by itself. then, sometime in the night the other day it went into recovery mode and the screen looked like this
    http://www.copytrans.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/iphone-recovery-mode-io s-7.png
I used TinyUmbrella to fix this and the phone went back to normal until the next day, when it suddenly turned off in my hand (whilst at 100%) and wouldnt turn on (with a black screen). i tried a hard reset but that didn't work. I connected it to my computer which said that it was in recovery mode and i needed to restore it. i tried this as my last option to make it work but when it begins to restore the computer tells me that it is waiting for iphone, while the iphone stays at 0. When i click restore is the only time my iphone screen lights up. the phone does not move and eventually i am forced to do a hard reset to stop it. then the screeen goes back to black and won't turn on until i restore, then everything happens again.
I have tried DFU mode but when i do it my phone disappers from itunes (in recovery mode) and comes back when i let go of all buttons.
Is there anything else i can do?

  • ITunes put my iPhone in Recovery Mode.

I'm scared ******** to try and attempt to follow the instructions for reviving my iPhone 3G w/WiFi.
I use my iPhone more than my Laptop.  So much smoothier and faster. This is the page I have picked (maybe) to walk me through the fix.  So that is why I am here.  To discuss the fact I am gutless.  Not a Doctor that has performed the same operation to the point of being a natural.     LINK:  http://osxdaily.com/2011/01/08/iphone-recovery-mode/                 I've spoken with Vivian, high rank Apple Employee (New Mexico), about their policy concerning "Jailbreaking".   As she may not refer anyone, I felt she was supportive.  Jailbreaking may sound like a crime though the criminals aren't at all.  If there is a bad, good for nothing law, the law-biders have to invent a "work-around".  My only excuse for begging to find the one Professional criminal to Apple's/iTunes bad policies is that I want it done right the first time.   iTunes threatens that if I go with iCloud, iTunes will never back up my Device ever.  Then, so sweetly, iTunes pops up and says "oh, may we do your Update to 6 for you?"  I was not going to **** them off again so I okayed the offer.    RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF UPDATING, ITUNES POPS UP AGAIN AND SAYS "SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG AND THE UPDATE DID NOT COMPLETE" This is what YOU can do...................................... and you know what is the only sweet nothing - no big deal SOLUTION is to what ITUNES DID TO ME......   Oh, NO NO NO...... I've been fighting for justice and liberty for far too long to just hang my head with my toy THEY BROKE and go home to suffer and cry............... AND MAYBE KILL ME A COMMIE.... lol I come from Mission Viejo, CA. I refuse to lose all my Data in my revolt on the ever-so-large Housing Industry Racket.
I haven't tried HTML4 in years at Geocities.  Remember?   Before we could figure out what the big deal with Bandwidth was all about, Yahoo Geocities just closed up and shut us out.  iTunes reminds me of Geocities....... They do not communicate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I pray for HELP soon.  I've got little time left to modify my Adjustable Loan to a low and comfortable fixed rate.

Do you have a problem with trying to do all the codes right?  I have a feeling questions are not allowed to start any type of discussions.  This is so nerve racking.  The link I put down seems to be right on.  Though I do not fare well in the comprehension Dept.

  • How do I get my iPhone 5c out of black screen recovery mode?

I have been trying for countless hours and days to get my iPhone 5c out of recovery mode (black screen no apple logo or anything else) the only reason I know it turns on is because the backlight LCD changes color. When I press down on it it leaves a little finger pressure thing. I have tried all of the ways to get it out of DFU mode, Out of Recovery Mode, I have tried restoring it, in which case i get the error 4005,40013 etc. So now I have come here for my last hoorah on trying to get this pile out of recovery mode and the IOS installed and working.
I don't know if this matters or not but, I have recently purchased a screen from ebay, it was an original iPhone screen etc. I have replaced it and as i said the screen works fine. that shouldn't have any problem with the actual software malfunctioning to update, but here is the log! Enjoy!
All help is greatly appreciated and I will do my best to give credit where it is deserved in the future! God Bless!

My son let one of his friends use his ipad. The next time he tired to use it he could not get it unlocked, I tired to unlock it but it kept telling me that I had the wrong pass code. With out me knowing my son continued to tire until it completely disabled it self.

You may have to do this several times.
Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
