PB not deteting data projector

Hi,
My laptop is not detecting an external data projector. It sees the projector at the initial startup during the gray screen and apple icon. But as soon at the Mac OS X startup icon appears it drops the signal and the projector screen turns blue. The Apple Profile Graphic/Display information status is "No display connected". I tried multiple projectors and dvi-vga adaptors with the same results.
The laptop does work with a 15-inch external monitor and the information is displayed under Apple profile.
I see on your board that someone else had a similar problem, but didn't find an answer posted.
Any suggestions?
thanks, David

Hi, David. If your video processor is an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700, you have a 15" or 17" Aluminum Powerbook of recent vintage. This is the discussion area for the older Titanium Powerbooks. You will probably do better reposting in an appropriate Aluminum Powerbook forum, accessible from this page.

  • Apple VGA Adapter, with iPad 1, OS 4.3 upgrade and Data Projector?

    Hi,
Our school is testing a number of iPads, and I will be buying a iPad 2 on the 25th March. I would like to test my iPad 1 with the Apple VGA Adapter and my data projector in my classroom. (All Apps)
In the past the Apple VGA adapter did not mirror the apps, however the Apple site now has a link to mirror technology with the VGA Adapter.
I could buy the Apple Digital AV Adaptor (HDMI) but would then need to find a HDMI to VGA convertor to connect to my data projector.
I would love to show my students Garage Band on my projector, but need the correct cables.

Use the Apple VGA Adapter to mirror whatever’s on your iPad 2 screen — apps, presentations, websites, and more — on your VGA-equipped TV, display, projector or other compatible display in up to 1080p HD.
Watch slideshows and video on the big screen in up to 720p by connecting your iPad, iPhone 4, or iPod touch (4th generation) to a television, projector, or other VGA-compatible display.
The Apple VGA Adapter connects to your iPad, iPad 2, iPhone 4, iPod touch (4th generation), iPad Dock or Universal Dock via the dock connector and to your projector or display using the VGA adapter.

I know this thread isnt that recent but the answer can be found when you look at the VGA adapter product page mention in an earlier post:
"The Apple VGA Adapter mirrors exactly what you see on iPad 2 so that everyone in the room can enjoy it.
The Apple VGA Adapter supports video out (only) for iPad, iPhone 4, or iPod touch (4th generation)."
So there you have it - only video out is supported on the original iPad / iPhone 4 / iPad Touch.

  • Can I connect my iPad mini to a data projector using a lightning to 30-pin adapter connected to a 30-pin to VGA connector? Or will this only work with a lightning to VGA connector.

Can I connect my iPad mini to a data projector using a lightning to 30-pin adapter connected to a 30-pin to VGA connector? Or will this only work with a lightning to VGA connector?

The lightning to 30 pin adapter does not support video as per the item description in the Apple online store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD823ZM/A/lightning-to-30-pin-adapter
This adapter lets you connect devices with a Lightning connector to many of your 30-pin accessories.* Supports analog audio output, USB audio, as well as syncing and charging. Video output not supported.
You will need to the Lightning to VGA adapter directly
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD825ZM/A/lightning-to-vga-adapter?fnode=3a
Or the Lightning Digital AV Adapter

  • Macbook air wont work with data projector

Attempted to connect my mac to my data projector and it wont work?

If audio is needed, you'll need to more closely identify which MacBook Air you have:
About Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters
How to find your Mac's model and age?
If your MacBook Air is older than July 20, 2011, you'll need to identify whether or not it has a mini-Displayport, or a mini-DVI port:
    mini-DVI
    mini-Displayport
All technologies work well with the video of DVI or HDMI with the right adapter.  VGA and S-Video you need the proper adapter, and you won't necessarily have all available resolutions that are lower.

  • Purchasing mini data projector for MacBook Pro. What works together?

I want to purchase a mini data projector for my MacBook Pro. Does anyone have a recommendation of what I should look for in a projector or what would work with my MacBook? Is a MacBook a VGA display? I want a data projector that is very sharp. Any suggestions?

if you do not have a Mini DVI, that leaves only about 80 models of MacBooks.
    Which one do you own?

  • Colour distortion when running Keynote through data projector

I regularly hook my MacBook up to a data projector, using (I think) a DVI to VGA connector, without any problems; have recently found some problems with colour distortion, though, to the point of everything on the data projector display appearing in shades of blue. Running the attached PC through the data projector, everything was absolutely fine, so it seems to be a problem with my MacBook display settings? Any suggestions for a quick fix?
    Thanks!

When you bring up the monitors control panel, does it show on BOTH screens (internal and projector)? It should, and if you're not mirroring, ONLY change it on the projector. Make sure it matches the default for the projector. There no reason it shouldn't work, but that's the first place to check.

  • How to connect 23-f281ea to a data projector

How do I connect my 23-f281ea all-in-one to a data projector when I only have USB ports?

    Hi wmck,
You can get a USB adapter. For example, if your projector uses a DVI connection:

  • Forcing iPad1 to full display on data projector

I read somewhere that there is possible to have full display of iPad 1 in data projector by about using some software "adaptation"... I´m not talking about jailbraking - I read it iSt absolutly legal... Anyway, I'm totaly rookie on this...
    Could anyone please help me?
Thanks for you time and patience.

Most likely either there's a bad cable or adapter, or an adaptor or connection cable aren't firmly plugged in. If you have a VGA monitor available, test with that. If the problem persists there, one of the cables or possibly the port on the MacBook is bad.
    Hope this helps.

  • What are my options for mirroring my ipad3 through a desktop pc (without wireless) to a data projector?

The desktop PC (Windows 7) does not have wireless. I have a VGA cable that I can plug directly to the data projector cable, however, I need the mirroring to go through the PC (because I am recording using desktop recording software).
I'm using Air Sketch for drawings in lectures and other various apps. What are my options to make this happen?
    Cheers.

Of the two, go for AirServer. Some 1-2 weeks ago, I've very thoroughly benchmarked the two apps (also posted the results here) and found out that AirServer is clearly better in every respect.

  • Working with a data projector

I have a Dell MP3100 data projector that works great with my windows based pc but does not work with my new MacBook. I have the right adapter and the MacBook detects the projector in the display properties, but I do not get any display through the projector. What am I missing or not doing to make this work?

Is there no display at all comign from the projector? BEcasue it could be that you have it as a second monitor not mirrored. To change this just go System Preferences -> Displays -> arrangement -> click the Mirror Dispalys box.
Another problem may be that the projector just isn't Mac-friendly. On the Box it needs to have picture on it that looks liek the FInder icon. I had this problem with the printer i had when i switched from PC to Mac. Age Quod Agis

  • Setting a fixed desktop background for ANY data projector

Any ideas on how I may set the desktop of ANY randomly selected and attached data projector (or external monitor/HDTV) to a specific image (containing my my corporate logo) without resorting to turning on mirroring to display the main desktop on my MBP?
I run strategy workshops for my clients at venues ranging from client boardrooms to hotels and convention centers.  In each instance, I am provided a data projector which I simply connect to my MBPT, fire up Keynote and it's show time!  Never had a failure to present.
However, in the odd moment when I am doing things at the desktop level, I want the image displayed on the projected screen the audience sees to be that of my corporate logo.  They do not need to see what I am doing on my MacBook.
So how can I set a default image to be used for any attached display device ONCE as a single setting for all future (unknown and randomly selected) data projectors that may get attached to my MBP?
Currently, on every occasion, I have to remember to get the pointer way across to the destop of the attached projector then right-click and manually “Change Destop Background...” etc.  It is just one niggle I would like to take out of my ‘seting up for showtime’ routine.

    Hi coocooforcocoapuffs
I am hoping there is a way around this...
Otherwise this still remains as two steps on my 'Presentation Check-list' which I would rather see changed from:
Select “Change Destop Background...” on presentation screen and set to mylogoimage.jpg
Ensure mylogoimage.jpg is displayed on screen - fix if not
    To:
Ensure mylogoimage.jpg is displayed on screen - fix if not
It would just take one more thing off the critical path at the very moment when time is of the essence.
Isn’t there a plist or something I can set?

You said " digital AV Adapter and thunderbolt". Do you mean Thunderbolt/min displayport to HDMI adapter?
It appears you are using the free version of the Display Menu app.
What does the Apple Display properties show? System Preferences>Displays>Display show?
Look at the projector/go to the manufacturer's support site and find the native resolution of the projector.

  • Satellite S1410-802 cannot play videos on LCD Data Projector

    Hi,
when I connect my Toshiba S1410-802 to LCD Data Projector and I start any video (in WMP and any other programs) all I see on the wall is black video window but everything around is displayed properly (i.e. desktop and other open windows). On laptop screen video is shown correctly. Sum up: I can watch videos on laptop but when I switch to the projector I can see everything except the video (black window)! Any guess?
    Regards, Artur

    Hello Artur
I am not 100% sure but I believe you can not watch video at the LCD and external device at the same time and you can watch it on the LCD or external device only.
Please test it. As far as I know it is technical limitation.

Can I connect an iPad in such a manner to a Windows based PC so that all that I write on the iPad, is immediately displayed on the Windows PC and on a screen by using a data projector?

In technical support, sometimes you have to make educated guesses. I'm sorry that you were offended.
iTunes does prompt when it is going to erase a device, and the message is clear.
She said in her message that she was able to successfully sync the old ipad. This indicated to me that itunes wiping the data was not an issue, because either it had been setup at the apple store (in which case it doesn't actually wipe the ipad despite saying it will*) (*based on a single case I saw), or because the itunes media folder was migrated.
Furthermore, my solution was to tell her how to backup her ipad (by either doing it manually, or as a last resort, by deleting the corrupt backup -- that she couldn't access anyway.)
I got that last part of the instructions from the "Taking Control of your iphone" book which I found samples of when I did a google search for "corrupted backup itunes".
She marked this as a solution, so it worked for her.

    Hi @richardennals ,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I hope you have a great experience with us.
I see that you are having a problem connecting your Pavilion to a projector. The reason it works for one and not the other could be the Chrome OS vs the Windows OS. Let me start by getting your product number so I know what we are working with, as a there are a few models in that series.
