My PB have a strange problem. After 5 mn playing, the sounds enter in "sleep mode" or something like this, and returns only after I reset, restart or put the PB in sleep mode and wake...
The PB is new....

Nope, there are no viruses in the iOS world.
How did you reboot and what happened when you tried? How did you try to delete the apps?

Sound routing craziness!

I'm running iChat 3.1.6 on a MacPro with OSX 10.4.8 and I'm using an external FW iSight.
I've got some headphones plugged in to the front (Headphone) jack on the Mac Pro, and some speakers plugged into the back (Line Out) jack. When I start into an AV chat, the audio from my chat session comes through the Headphones, but the rest of the sounds on my Mac (eg. the speaker level clicks) come out of the speakers. I've tried changing the settings in System Prefs, but even when I make sure everything is set to "Line Out" I still have the same situation.
Any ideas?

This has been a problem since at least my G4/1Ghz Dual Mirrored Doors tower, and in fact is probably older.
I have exactly the same problem.
I tend to run my external speakers from the headphone socket at the from and just change to Headphones when I need to.
The Headphone socket does not disconnect the Line Out connector at the back of the machine. I am sure if it did people would still want it to work the other way.
The option is to deselect the Line Out in the System Preferences > Sound.

Software update makes sound go crazy

Hi All,
since my upgrade to 10.4.8, my internal soundcard produces a muffled sound, rather then a clean crispy sound. My external card (002R) still works fine. I can't find any settings (like an EQ) in system preferences, only volume control and soundcard selection.

Keyboard start typing and make "Funk" sound by itself after upgrading to OS X Mavericks

After I upgraded to OS X Mavericks, whenever I press the Home key (↖︎) OS X starts typing "~6" characters in Terminal and making the sound called "Funk".
Also this happens after wake up and power up and randomly.
On the login screen it always start making the "Funk" sound like crazy.
I did reset keyboard shortcuts, removed and closed running programs, changed keyboard layouts, reset SMC and PRAM, but I can't stop it happening. I can induce it by pressing the Home key in terminal and wake up from sleep, but other cases I don't know what causes this. The problem appear just randomly even when I'm using the computer or not...
This is driving me crazy.

Restarting, sleep mode, shut down doesn't seem to have any effect. I plugged out, plugged in, the problem still occured. I restarted, and put it in a different USB port and seems to be solved now.

HS 950 Sound distortion

Ive been having this problem for a while now and it seems to be a windows 7 problem. After the headset is plugged in for a while the sound goes crazy and everything sounds really badly distorted and I cant hear a thing, it also effects the mic because people on team speak hear it too when i talk.
This doesnt happen on my XP machine only on my Windows 7 one, the one I play all my games on. If I plug the usb out and back in it works again for a while but if im in game I need to exit and reload the game for the sound to come back on ingame, same with teamspeak.
Im now using a brand new 950 because I rma'ed the other one because I thought it was a headset problem. It took yee 3 months to send it back to me but thats a differant story.
I have the most recent drivers for the 950 so I have no idea whats wrong.

remove all drivers so that the driver you use is dated 3/07/2009
version 6..7600.6385
driver provider mircosoft (this is the default windows driver)
easy way to do is via device manager and just right click the headset and select unistall and use option to delete drivers.
then go to the properties (in sound in control panel)
enhancments (tab)
enhancements disable all
playback (tab)
then in advanced i set 24 bit 48000
i have all windows updates on windows 7 before (and not including) service pack
and for 3 weeks solid with these settings i have not had this issue !!!!!!!!!!!
i am not sure which options are the ones fixing it but i can tell you if i update to the creative driver (advised by windows update) the problem comes back in hours
please test and reply.

No sound, other issues with 5.0.6 Update

Help Please!!
I updated my Safari the other day to 5.0.6 and am still running 10.5.8. Now I have no internet sound on either Safari or Firefox. Perused the forums and followed a suggestion to play the keyboard on Garageband as a fix to earlier sound issues (crazy, but apparently it worked for others). Garageband has no sound now, either. iTunes, iMovie, and soundeffects (like the volume clicker) all work fine. I've run repair preferences, deleted the cache.dp file and still no luck.
A couple of times, Safari took about 5-10 minutes to load, showing nothing but a blank page and the spinning beach ball of death. I've also redownloaded and installed Safari, also to no avail. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Could be a thrid party Safari add on that was compatible with the previous version of Safari but not 5.0.6 that's muting the volume and not rendering web pages.
Troubleshooting help here > Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
If that doesn't resolve the problem, launch the Console app (Applications / Utilities). Commonly used for troubleshooting.
To view only messages related to a particular action:
Select the log file you want and click Clear Display in the Console toolbar.If the button is dimmed, it means this feature is not available in this log.
If you want to add a time marker to the log, click Insert Marker in the toolbar.
Perform the action you are interested in and watch the log display to see the messages generated by your action.

Battlefield 2142 sound problem

I have sound problems with Battlefield 242 since I bought a new motherboard.
Old mobo: Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4
New one: MSI DKA790GX
CPU: AMD Phenom X4 9650
RAM: 4* GB DDR2 800 Kingmax
Sound: X-FI Xtremegamer PCI
VGA: Sapphire ATI 4850 GB DDR3
OS: Windows 7 64bit Ultimate
Now I getting static/pop sounds during orbital strikes, only in multiplayer mode, in singleplayer mode everything ok!
I tried several tips like:

what i just do is set it on hardware mode, with high quality. if i use X-Fi mode, then my sound goes crazy during orbital strikes. i wish there was a way to use ultra high audio quality with hardware mode for people like us though.
interestingly, there was a similar problem in BF2. all the static, crackling, popping noise one day disappeared. it was earlier this year, i am not sure what fixed it, but if it was Creative that fixed BF2's X-Fi mode, I really think they ought to do the same for 242. i am guessing it was Creative because it was during a time when there were no patches for the game. it might have even been the latest OpenAL update i applied to BF2, but it was still from Creative. i did apply the same OpenAL update to 242 but it did not fix the static, crackling, pop problem during orbital strikes.

IPad mini calendar alert sounds

My calendar alert sounds have stopped working! I have checked volume and settings. The sounds work when I test them in settings, but when the event pops up on the screen to remind me, there is no sound! Help! I have 8 people in my home to coordinate and I am missing appointments due to no sound! Crazy! I know! But I got the iPad mini to help me remember all my 'stuff'! I have tried the side button. On. Off. Reset to screen orientation. I have read all the postings. I wonder if its the calendar I bought? It is 'Task and Cal'? Not sure what is going wrong.

If your alert settings are correct but you still do not hear alert sounds, try these troubleshooting steps next:
Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.

How can i reset my air port base station deleting all back to new

Hello All...
I'm desprate to get back control of my computer.... Everytime I go to an apple store they look at me like I'm crazy and not once have taken the time to resolve the problem. I have been dealing with what I think a hi jacked computer for going on a year now. My research has lead me to someone obtaining access to my computer o matter what I try. I have had it reset to factory setting way to many time due to thats all these kids at the apple store, great its free but never have they tried to take iniative and see why the problem consist over and over. Someone is obvisously harassing me costing me now almost 1500 trying to fix it. Its not that I have any sensitive information or like I'm in law inforcement, its now become personal. I went to the cops once in LA but they luaghed and told me to talk to the FBI, yeh right. You would not realize how hard it is to find a compuerter tech that or what I would call a master. I would pay top dollar to locate this enity for a few reasons. One peace of mind and two grasping what they are doing to get into my computer at there conveince.
Symtems: it appears new firmware has infatrated my opperating system changing admin rights, new files that have nothing in them, new programs I have never seen. Iy appears what ever I do is copied into files and sent to a 3rd party.
-there appears to be multible access points into this computer, modified bluetooth, severl USB channels, infared conection, eathernet, fire wire connections with mac address I dont reconize. there seems to be a new code in my computer that does not allow me to load anti virus in its full integrity. my phone logs to seem to be recorded on my computer. I have tried everything. I need help to see what is the issue, reward available

THis is 100% true.
It is happening to me, my home and now my office. Every computer every tablet and my iPhone 4s.
I have studied it thoroughly. Works something like this. They use a BT stack and telephony while they are roaming and they release an incredibly smart and incredibly small package.
It is a variation of ransomeware. It starts by using bt exploits by chainfiring BT drivers and commands from the new dual and quad core android phones. The package that they install on your iPhone, iPad, all tablets as well as Pc and iOS computers starts by disassembling your applications, opening ports and installs VPN. Once they have the VPN it is all over. All of this happens in seconds.
It is scary stuff. Starteed with my iPhone then it uses your phone, tablet etc as a hub and spreads to your other devices. Once u get it it is impossible to get rid of. You need to stop everything go to someone else's house or area on their device and change all your passwords and then start wiping everything 100% format and reinstall with no wireless within range.
Sounds completely crazy but it almost shut my business down and you can call geek squad or any tech and they will think u are crazy. I am in Orange County Ca and I wonder if it is just local because you are the 1st person I have seen with the exact same problem. Once in my PC at my office it jumped to everyone through LAN or BT. I have copies of the original package that was installed with instructions on how to deploy it how to use it.
Nobody will even take you serious when you explain it to them.
Symptoms are your computer is running slow, finding new folders and locked out of your own folders or programs. You then think ok just a virus so you scan but nothing detects it because it encrypts everything it does. I have tried every single virus and malware scanner out there and uses simple scripts to do its job. But as it grows it starts modifying your complete system.
IT is very very dangerous because it is undetectable by any type of virus scanner and once you are VPN locked everything they do looks like it is coming from you. I can scan my LAN and there will be anywhere from 6-10 people using anyone of my devices. I have just given up trying to fight it. It is very personal here as well but cannot stop it. Everything has been wiped but it made a hidden drive/partition on my laptop that starts the process all over again.
You won't get an ip just MAC addresses. It is definitely something new and a new type of bug that no one has seen before. One of the things it did was modify AVG to run endless loops far above what the CPU could handle on my wife's computer and we could not stop any of the processes or shut it down, had to physically take the battery out and unplug it because the laptop got soo hot it was literally burning up. It gets even stranger so I am not going to go on about it and loose all credibility.
It is definitely something you do not want to get but there is some info on the FBI cyber attack website. I think the basic idea is to scramble all of the info and ransom the solution key back to you.

Macbook Pro freezes often after the hard drive replaced

Hi I just had the hard drive of my 17" mbp replaced at the Apple Store. The reason I brought my mbp in was because the Disk Utility couldn't fix my HD's problem (loud noise, extremely hot, slow..and disk utility couldn't run repair), and the genius bar person suggested I replace the hard drive.
However after I had my compter back, even though it is not as hot as before and the Disk Utility showed everything is normal now, the really loud fan (possibly fan I guess) noise still sounds very crazy. I was just doing some web surfing, light work stuff, but the HD area just roared. Also my computer freezes so often now, and apprears busy (showing the rainbow color spinning ball) quite frequently even when I am just using Safari and Mail. This is quite annoying and makes me worried more.
Do you guys have any suggestions? I could bring it back to the store again but it was really a trouble. Any ideas will be highly appreciated. Thanks!!

Thank you both. Before I take it back, I would like to confirm one last thing: how often should the mbp make loud fan noise? Or actually we should never hear the fan noise? I really don't remember when I just got this computer (June 2006) I used to hear fan running like this. But I do know if the CPU was too busy while I were using Adobe programs or play WOW or somehing on my old computer, the fan of my old computer (PC) was pretty loud. I am just wondering if the situation I am experiencing is normal or not before I send it back. Thanks!

Playing video from MacBook Pro to TV (Like iPod)

Hi, I have an iPod Video, with the cables that I can plug from the 3.5mm jack to the a/v ports on my tv and play video on my iPod...
I'm just wondering if there's anyway to just use this cable to plug from my MacBook Pro straight to my TV a/v ports and play the video, instead of having to import them to my iPod first...
They are MP4's and already in iTunes, I COULD just upload them to my ipod but i'd like to know if it's possible to just go straight from the computer.

i gave up on the apple ones, for me they weren't comfy, didn't sound good, kept falling out when i ran, were easily damaged if the volume was too high, and leaked sound like crazy which is annoying to everyone around
really not apple's finest piece of design
instead i now use some sony in-ear ones, mdr-ex71, it took a few days to get used to the fit but they have much better sound quality, are more comfortable, don't fall out, let enough outside noise in to be safe in the street, and don't leak sound - in fact when i wear them i'm sometimes annoyed by the sound leaking from someone else wearing apple's crappy earbuds!

Strange little rectangle on screen

Hi friends,
after I start one of my programs a little rectangle appears on the mittle of the screen in addition to the program.
I know it sounds crazy but I attached a screenshot.
On the left you see the program and beside is the little rectangle (marked by a red circle). It's possible to click to the rectangle and the focus will change to it, that means the color will change to dark blue and the color of the program will change to light blue. That indicates that this rectangle is a little window. It's not possible to move it or resize it. It's always visible if on of my labview programs is on top. Now it sounds more crazy if I'll tell you that this will only happen at this computer. All other PC's show my programs in the right way. LabView 8.0.1 is running everywhere.
Any ideas???

It looks like a VI with a front panel of 0 pixels.
These are automatically generated by LV if you use auto-center (from the VI-properties) and then close programmatically the Front Panel (8.0 bug)
The reason it shows up on your PC and not others....
Maybe it is a vi.lib or user.lib file that you closed programmtically. To resolve this you have to find out which VI it is, and than edit the properties (or reset the FP)

Using mobile as router

hi i'm just wondering if its possible to connect my laptop too my main pc through mobile phone.
i have connected my mobile to laptop using usb cable too nokia suite (runs fine) and have a usb bluetooth dongle which is also conected to my mobile at same time (also runs fine)
know what i was thinking of is it possible to use this link to run a connection between them both laptop/pc on internet
in stead of buying a router.

These days (I'm writing from Feb 2008) our phones are fully functional computers with their own iddy biddy wifi, 3G, GPRS and GPS radios.. at least Nokia N95 is.
However, as we are always pushing boundaries, I am now looking for an application to convert that cheap and flat rate 3G broadband mobile Internet access in my phone to a WiFi access point to supply a WiFi only device (like the Apple iTouch - a WiFi enabled iPod), I know it all must sound like crazy-talk to you, since these multiple micro radios, let alone a WiFi iPod aren't even invented yet.
Anyway, I have read about something similar 'mrouter' that was developed in beta in 2007 which can share PC Internet connection over bluetooth for mobiles (and maybe over WiFi too). As of Feb 2008, it appears the company has shut down (or probably bought by Microsoft-Yahoo), so finding the latest application may be tough. Too bad because it is just as relevant today given 3G and WiFi (and no WiMax yet).

Can anyone who has a 5530 just check......

that when they go into settings>Application manager>Installed files....tell me what happens cos mine just goes blank so I have to press the red button to go to standby and then wait for the phone to unfreeze itself to get the screen to touch work again. Is this normal??

I also wanted to add that soft resetting wouldnt work. I've tried that more than 3 times. What you can do is I guess reformat the memory card like Fender said but that would erase everything on there I think. It wasnt an option for me, so I didnt do it. I just deleted the giant files.
If you're wondering how I got that folder to open, just leave your phone opening it n do nothing. I just slid the unlock switch to check if it had loaded the page. When it loads delete the biggest files first. Because after you delete a file, it will hang again n wouldnt show the refreshed list for awhile. You'll have to exit n reopen folder.
Yeah it was painful n it sounds really crazy n slow to do it. But i couldnt find someone who could help me with it n that was how i handled it. Perhaps some expert might be able to help you. This was just how i handled it.

What happens if I choose Reset All Settings?

My iPhone is giving this popup that says: "Unable to Purchase: 'The Simpsons Arcade FREE' and 1 other item could not be purchased at this time. Please try again later." frequently when I try to update or install any app. (The app installs fine though.) Apple Care suggested I choose Reset All Settings to get rid of the problem. My question is, what exactly happens? Do settings and preferences in the apps get deleted too, or just system settings?

That's sounds just crazy enough to work, like a combination of things I already tried. I'm going to post what you said to https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3681763?tstart=0 and see if it helps pepole. Meanwhile, I did one update to an app since doing what you said and didn't get the message, so we'll see if it comes back.
