Pb when downloading gif files with iplanet6 SP4

Hi,
I'm using Iplanet6 SP4 for serving a intranet application.
I have a constraint on my browser : it MUST be configured to check the page on server each time a page is visited.
One of my pages contains several gifs. The problem is that if the same gif appears twice (or more) in the page, it is downloaded twice (or more).
I don't have this problem with Tomcat.
I have tried to configure my server by tuning the Cache Configuration parameters, without any success.
Does anybody already meet this problem,
Thanks for any help on this topic
Lionel Malais, Montreal

Cédric,
Please let us just sync our terminology. "pb" = "problem"? "Ko" is maybe Kilobyte, which is usually abbreviated "Kb"? "Idem."? In English, one ! is enough to terminate all sentences!
First to test 2: you list the BSP/HTMLB coding that you use. This is perfectly OK, there is no problems.
In test 1 we use only raw HTML to get a page into the browser. Once the HTML is in the browser, BSP plays no role anymore. This is the typical tests that we do to systematically isolate the error, and remove components. At this stage, I would say it is no BSP error. It has to do with how the HTTP handler (which you trigger) sends the document to the browser, what headers are set, and where the document is cached.
But i think i cannot remove system parameter (sap-language=FR & sap-client=050)
In principle these two parameters are in anycase stored as a cookie in the browser, and you do not have to supply them in the URL. At least to continue for the moment, you can leave them away.
To continue with the problem, you will have to open an OSS message, so we can look at the complete problem (using your test1 page). Our interest is to see what this handler does exactly.
I have spend a little time tonight to review the URL that you supply and the code that is executed. At the end of the chain, a special handler is called to do the final HTTP response, which we "own". So please queue problem directly onto BC-BSP, and reference this SDN thread.
Add inside OSS message: /SAP/BW/DOC/MAST --> CL_HTTP_WEBDAV_RSOD,
which is based on CL_HTTP_WEBDAV. Actual low level handler is used for sending. Check comments in dev system on handling of etags. HTTP proxy trace required to see what HTTP headers are actually set and behaviour of browser in this case.
By leaving of the URL parameters, you should be able to continue until the problem is completely understood.

if i try to download a file with any special characters in file name (e.g. File_Name.pdf), it doesn't reconvert them from the "sanitize url" process and download the file an incorrect name (e.g. File%5FName.pdf).

  • When downloading a file, "open" option does not appears, only "save" does

Before updating to 5.0, when downloading a file, I could select between "Open" and "save". Now I don't have the "Open" option. I need it because of my work and is a must have or it will take to much time to save and then opening them. In normal morning with "open" option took me like 30 minutes. Now it took me 1.5 hours and can't afford to loose that much time.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • EA3500 - Buggy when downloading and using with NAS

The range on this guy is pretty decent. I have it upstairs, but use it downstairs most of the time- wirelessly and wired. I've received the "blue screen of death" a number of times while streaming video while working out using my laptop over wireless connection.
I have also received the blue screen (a lot) when downloading large files from the net. I never had this problem with my Netgear router with the same setup. Unfortunately, the Netgear died recently.
It is otherwise a very fast router with no real problems. I've learned to live with the 5 minute reboot of my laptop when it happens, but it is enough that I am shopping again and Amazon might receive their item back.

Just out of the curiosity I would like to ask, do you get any error message while getting “Blue Screen of Death”. Does it happen to only one particular computer or to all computers?
The symptoms you describe could be symptomatic of a variety of things to include hardware/software issues, overheating caused by a failed processor fan, bad memory (RAM), failing or underpowered power supply, CPU overheating, motherboard, video card, faulty or unsigned device drivers, CMOS battery going bad, BIOS and firmware problems, dirty hardware components, programs hanging or unresponsive in the background, and even malware. If the computer is overheating, it usually begins to shutdown/restart on a more regular basis.
If the machine is only crashing at home after establishing a connection but not at work when establishing a connection, then it’s probably an issue with your network configuration or something (i.e. wireless adapter) causing a conflict and not a malware issue.

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (triple-click, copy, and paste):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • Firefox crashes when downloading huge files

When downloading huge files like a 4GB DVD image of linux, firefox starts to build up memory usage. After downloading 3GB it takes around 4GB of memory and then crashes since it can't possibly grow any larger. WHY is it doing this? In earlier versions of firefox it created a .part file and stored all data in there. But right now it stores the WHOLE download in memory and then saves it directly to the file. No .part files on the drive.

I installed an apache webserver for faster local downloading and put a 4GB DVD up.
First try on Windows7: After 500MB of downloading it stops with a memory load of 1.6GB then it suddenly tells me the download is finished - at 500MB of 4GB. No crash this time but still not the desired result.
Try on Windows Vista: After 1.5GB of downloading and 1.7GB of memory usage and then the CPU activity jumped to 100% on the core where Firefox executes. Took around 5min then CPU goes down to 2% and it tells me the download finished and starts a virus scan. No crash either. Downloaded only 1.6GB of 4GB
Maybe it didn't crash this time because the download is too fast. Earlier while downloading from internet it always crashed while downloading debian DVD image. Later I used Internet Explorer to complete the download. I'll install a bandwidth control in my apache and try again over a longer period of time.

  • TS1368 when downloading large files such as videos of television season do you need to turn off autolock to prevent download from halting

when downloading large files such as videos of a television season do you need to turn off autolock to prevent download from halting? And if so, if the download will take a significant amount of time (not sure how much offhand) how do you prevent burn in from prolonged screen image?

Among the alternatives not mentioned... Using a TiVo DVR, rather than the X1; a Roamio Plus or Pro would solve both the concern over the quality of the DVR, as well as providing the MoCA bridge capability the poster so desperately wanted the X1 DVR to provide. (Although the TiVo's support only MoCA 1.1.) Just get a third-party MoCA adapter for the distant location. Why the hang-up on having a device provided by Comcast? This seems especially ironic given the opinions expressed regarding payments over time to Comcast. If a MoCA 2.0 bridge was the requirement, they don't exist outside providers. So couldn't the poster have simply requested a replacement XB3 from the local office and configured it down to only providing MoCA bridging -- and perhaps as a wireless access point? Comcast would bill him the monthly rate for the extra device, but such is the state of MoCA 2.0. Much of the OP sounds like frustration over devices providing capabilities the poster *thinks* they should have.

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder

From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

    '''''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ Mozilla Add-ons Web Page]'''''
    (There’s a lot of good stuff here).<BR>
What you want is a program to show you what you want to see.
    I myself use
    '''''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/download-status-bar/?src=collection&collection_id=33bf10fa-666d-45a2-9bc9-491ce21671c6 Download Status Bar]'''''.

  • When downloading a file, how do I tell Firefox to not do a virus scan of files with specific extensions such a .gif files?

I'm using AVG Free as my anti-virus program and always use the latest version. I have set scanning options in AVG to skip the scanning of gif and jpg files but that seems to be ignored when I am downloading a very small file of either type. The "Downloads" (Ctrl J) pop-up window shows the progress of the download and scan. At times, the virus scan is so miserably slow for simple gif and jpg files that it is a while until I can once more move my mouse cursor.
By the way, I'm using version 3.6.17 Firefox and WIN 7 Premium.

Unfortunately, I continue to have the problem. Just to make sure, following your suggestion, I shut down Firefox then restarted it but had the same result. Similarly, I rebooted after making the changes but again, no difference. Ah well...
Just thought I'd attach this partial screen print to show that I am in Firefox and that I am downloading a file -- in this case, a daily Doonesbury gif file.
    Thanks for the suggestion though.
