Pb with Key pad (numlock) Satellite P300

I have a P300 satellite, and my keypad doens't work normally when I lock numlock in order to write figures (1, 2, 3 ...). In any case (touch "numlock" Iocked or not) I cannot manage to write figures thanks to the keypad. When the green light is on it happens nothing when I press a touch of the keypad, when the light is off it works normaly, I mean it is like the arrows.
May be somebody can help me.
Thank you.

My friends P300 had the same problem!
The "7890UIOPJKLM>" keys on the keyboard would output numbers even though its a full sized keyboard with a separate keypad.
I cant remember exactly how the ASP fixed it, apparently there is a setting that changes the screen size to 17". I dont know how they changed it, I am guessing they use a special Diagnostics disk or DMI utility.
Send it to an ASP, they should be able to fix it :)

How can I find out part numbers and prices and where to buy?
    Thx

It is pretty problematic to find online store where you can buy spare parts for notebooks.
Very good place to order different hardware parts for different notebook models is eBay.
Have you already checked if you can find all you need on eBay?
In the past I have ordered battery and several covers for my Satellite notebook.
Of course you can contact Toshiba service provider in your country and order the parts there.

  • Problems with kEY PAD

I WAS PLAY A GAME ON FACEBOOK AND I HIT SOMETHIN ON MY KEYPAD AND THE GAME GOT VERY BIG AND I DONT KNOW WHAT I HIT OR HOW TO GET IT BACE TO NORMAL SIZE

    Hi KANDY629,
I understand the screen size of your game changed and you are not sure what you did to cause this change. One thing you can try is zooming out. To do this, first click somewhere inside your Internet browser, and then hold the Control key while pressing the - (minus sign) key as many times as you need to get to the desired size; or, you can hold the Control key while scrolling down on your mouse wheel (assuming your mouse model has one). I hope this is of help to you. Best of luck. Have a wonderful day.

  • New Nokia's with key pads?

At the momment i have a nokia c5.

I'm getting bored of it and want to upgrade, looking for keypad, GPS, WI-FI, 5 meg camera.

I posted yesterday about the necessity for a good new keypad phone. This is why so many of us are eager to try the 301, it seems to be one of the best new traditional phones (at least according to specs)
    http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Asha-and-other-Nokia-Series-30/Nokia-301-short-battery-life-gt-H-ico...
But knowing the limitations of the 301, I suggested yesterday that Nokia launches an improved c5. Taking into account that a Xperia Tipo sells for around 100 euros, and features 512 MB RAM, I don't think it would be that difficult for Nokia to launch a decent improved version of the c5. A real good all-in-one keypad traditional phone. Just to mention a few ideas, it should at least have a 5 to 8 mpix camera, led flash, better video recording, better RAM, maximum audio and video compatibility, and easily read word, excel and PDF. Seeing the world wide interest in the 301, I think there would still be a decent market for an improved 301 or improved C5. It's just my opinion, but I would certainly go for it, buy it and reccomend it, if it's powerful and small enough to shame the huge-sized smartphones that don't fit in a pocket!!

I've got this laptop about a 2 months.
    Thanks.

    Hello
    Sounds like a hardware issue...
You could try to remove the battery and AC/DC adaptor. Wait one hour and then connect both devices again.
If it doesnt work you need professional help from an authorized service provider. The technicians can check your notebook and tell you what part must be replaced.

  • Strange issue with "Enter" key in Vista on Satellite P300-225

A few weeks ago, I don't recall exactly when, Windows Vista on my Satellite P300-225 started to pass an incorrect scancode to applications when the Enter key is pressed. It always sends the scancode of the Keypad Enter key, even when I hit the one in the alphanumeric part of the keyboard. It did work correctly some time ago, but suddenly, it just started acting like this. No remapping of any keys.
Since there are quite a few programs that act different on these two keys, this has become quite an annoying issue.
The strangest part of it is, that the problem seems to be somehow related to Windows Vista, since the keys are correctly reported on Linux.
If anybody has a clue, please, let me know.

Yes, it almost certainly is a keymapping issue related to Vista. Reinstalling Vista isn't a way to go, it's not worth the effort (the recovery DVDs would comletely wipe out everything from my harddisk so I'd have to move all my data away and then restore, reinstall Linux et cetera). I'll give a try to uninstalling the keyboard in safe mode though.
Anyway, it almost looks like some Windows update is responsible for this, since I have automatic updates enabled and it installs something everytime I boot it. I don't know about any program I installed before this happend that could possibly alter the mappings. (...and the registry key used for this is empty.)

  • Satellite P300-1AN - Touchpad issue with AC adapter

I've a Satellite P300-1AN notebook and since the beginning (two weeks)
I have a touchpad issue: it is not immediately responsive and the pointer trembles when touching the pad. Very often it freezes for just one or two seconds.
This is VERY annoying. A USB mouse works perfectly.
I tried reinstalling ALPS drivers, tried Synaptics ones, tried just Windows Vista drivers: no way.
Now I have found the reason: this issue is present only when the notebook is powered by AC adapter.
With battery the touchpad is perfect.
I contacted Toshiba Service and thay said that they won't change the AC adapter if I don't try before a complete system restore!
Isn't it simpler just try with a new adapter and only then, if the problem persists, try more drastic procedures?
Has anyone had this same issue?

    > I contacted Toshiba Service and thay said that they won't change the AC adapter if I don't try before a complete system restore! Isn't it simpler just try with a new adapter and only then, if the problem persists, try more drastic procedures?
The point is that your notebook should be always checked using the Toshiba factory configuration.
Why? Because the ASP wants to be sure that this issue is not related to a software problem (compatibility issue with 3rd party applications). The software issues are not covered by warranty.
Furthermore the ASP will always recover the notebook before checking any hardware parts for a malfunction. Therefore you should always backup your data from the HDD before you will send the notebook for checking.
I would recommend to reinstall the OS using the Toshiba recover disk and then check if the issue would appears.
If yes then you can contact the ASP again and could provide all details which are necessary for an technician.
    Bye

  • Satellite P300 - One Key not working on keyboard

    Hi all,
Does anyone have a suggested solution to fix a key not working on my laptop? One letter on my keyboard "the letter b" has stopped working.
    Laptop is Satellite P300- "PSPCA-01U013"
    Thanks :)

    Hi Ricco1,
The problem is that single keys cant be replaced so if a certain key doesnt work its time to replace the whole keyboard but dont worry, new keyboards are not so expensive. Just get in contact with an authorized service provider and ask for a new keyboard, the guys are able to order a new one and they can replace it for you if cant do this yourself.

  • HT5636 I am using an Apple keyboard with numeric key pad.

I have a new Mac OSX 10.9.2. I am using Bootcamp to run WIndows 8.1.
I have just connected a new USB Apple keyboard with numeric key pad.
All works fine in OSX. But in windows the numeric numbers on the keypad wont work.
Numlock appears to work, but nothing happens when the number keys are pressed.
The keys / * - +and entre all work ok. Just not the numbers.
MIcrosoft SUPPORT REFUSED to help me because i am using a mac, they claim it is a hardware problem.

I would look for a program which would display the ascii value of typed letters
if i had the letter the key send one can assign that value to any other function one wish
    https://www.google.dk/search?q=program+which+display+the+acsii+of+typed+letters& oq=program+which+display+the+acsii+of+typed+letters&aqs=chrome..69i57.11855j0j4& sourceid=chrome&es_sm=93&ie=UTF-8#q=program+which+display+the+ascii+of+typed+let ters&spell=1
if the program would get no ascii value from the num keyboard then I suppose ms were correct
if not then there are tons of free programs to reassign keys as one see fit
and even if they were not to work one can do it manually in regedit in windows

  • Satellite P300 - Easy keys turn power on. Can this feature be turned off?

    Hi.
just received my Satellite P300-15D yesterday and I am experiencing the following problem:
The laptop starts working by itself after being shuted down. I noticed that during off period, if you touch the CD/DVD/MEDIA Easy Key it turned power on. So the thing is: I cannot close the laptop because after a while it turns on by itself.
Maybe because screen contacts with the easy keys surface...don't know...weird... any help? (O.S. Windows Vista Home Premium). It happened a lot of times....can't we disable the power on function of the easy key? I have been searching for an application for this and didn't find any...or in extremis...can't we just shut the digital easy keys feature off?
    Thanks

    Hey all,
I'm having the exact same problem with a Toshiba Satellite P300 here. The multimedia button seems so sensitive that the laptop will turn on by itself after a while. I haven't been able to find a program to disable it. Has anyone found a solution to this? If you do, please send me an email at [email protected] (remove the nospam) so I can fix it once and for all.
    Thanks,
    Dre

  • Satellite P300 with screen turning pink

    Hi
My Satellite P300 is model PSPCCA-OC6O1Y. The problem I have is a lot of pink on the screen. This has been reoccuring over the last week with this morning the worst. Presently I have two distinct pink pencil lines running down the screen just right of middle, and I also have many other random pink pixles jumping all over the place.
Earlier today what would normally be white on the screen is pink and moving which made it almost impossible to see the screen and use the machine. A shut down and restart has bought it back to a useable position, although the problem has not gone away. On restart no sign of pink on the screen during the normal bootup - no sign of pink on the log in page and pink started as soon as either the browser or email apps were activated. It does go across all programs - I cannot isolate it to any one program, so I suspect it is not a program specific issue.
I am not a techie, just a user, so if the reply can be in simple to understand language that would be appreciated. The machine is under warranty, however I am trying to avoid downtime for repair which is critical if possible.
    Thanks for your help

    Hi Fletch,
Did you connect an external monitor to your notebook? With this external device you can identify the reason of this issue. That means if the external monitor works properly, it seems to be related to the internal display that must be changed.
As Jeka-IL wrote, contact nearest authorized service provider in your country. The guys will try to help you and if your notebook is under warranty, the repair is for free.

    thank you for your repley
i am very much in favor of stability ,reliability and performance but the fact remains
that Toshiba Techs have made a conscious  and willfull decision to under clock the laptop and make no
mention that the bios updates may result in processing reduction, as for the call to tech support it was fruitless
because they are clueless as to why such things happen (Corporate Denial).
In Canada there were two very close speced laptops
one for 899.00 CAD with 1.9 GHz CPU
and the one I bought 2 months ago 1149.00 CAD 2.0 GHz
To me this looks like Toshiba overclocking the laptop to get out the retail door.
its not just affecting me, it affects everyone that buys a Toshiba laptop.
I will not back down on this point. The origional advertised and paid for specs, should
be restored in an upcoming bios update. If not, then it just confirms my original
    findings.
This is refered to as "BAIT and SWITCH" and the practice is illegal in Canada.
