PBG4 15 memory+heat problem

Hi guys,
I have a PB g4 15 1ghz machine i purchased in Feb 2004. I have been using my laptop fine with 768 mb ram on it. Last week i purchased 2x1GB kingston ram modules for my machine. they work fine. but now my machine started to "freeze" all of a sudden. it doesnot show any kernel panics or whatsoever, but just freezes and i need to restart the machine. sometimes it freezes after 2 hours of runtime and sometimes longer but eventually freezes...
i dont know if this is related to my ram upgrade but its just annoying. bottom of my pb has always been "too hot" and i dont feel a significant heat difference right now too, i installed temperature monitor and it shows processor bottomside around 47 C, processor/controller bottomside around 48 C and powersupply bottomside around 52 C
any recommendations??

I've not heard of PBG4s having issues with 2 Gb of RAM - I'd thought they would be happy their owners gave them a huge upgrade... Seriously though, I've only heard of a few reports of problems with 2 Gb RAM, though the cause of the problems has yet to be found...
As for 1 Gb recommendations, either Hynix or Samsung memory would suit, not surprising since they manunfacture memory for Apple. Just make sure that the memory works with the Powerbook G4s - they're very picky about their RAM...
A good place I've heard to get good quality memory for Powerbooks is Ramjet - http://www.ramjet.com/pbg4.asp . Although I'm in the UK and hence not tried them, they give good service and their RAM works. If you're in the UK, try Orca Logic for Kingston memory - it's the cheapest around: http://www.orcalogic-kingston.co.uk/

Hi guys. I have a First Generation Macbook Pro, i bought it like 8 months ago from ebay. The guy that sold me this mac told me that it doesn't have any heat problems at all, but im just, im sorry, i can't say the same right now.

But the problem get's when im trying to play Starcrat or use any other app that runs with rosseta, Easy can get to 90...
The Macbook Pro never shut down because a heat problem, but im just worried about it, this is normal?, here is the normal Specs of my computer.

The temperature ranges you report are "normal" and nothing to be concerned about.
Battery: Reset the SMC (System Management Controller) and re-calibrate the Battery every couple of months.

Notebook heating problem

When I bought my HP ENVY 15 j040el, it was cool, and the fans went high only when I was working on programmes such as Photoshop or GoogleEarth, which are graphiscs intensive. But now the fan works very often even without PS or GE and hot air keeps blowing out from the vents. The keyboard around the spacebar and above get heated.Any way to solve the heating problem? Thanks Elena_t for your response. Following your link, I took a little time to prepare myself and go through the various EUFI diagnostics. My Envy 15 j040el passed all the tests. A month back I also updated several software and drivers (including BIOS) through the HP support assistant. There seems to be no issue regarding drivers etc... as they are all up to date. The guide you recommended says average heat should be around 35°C, but CPUID HWMonitor shows my average temperature with light internet navigation and wordprocessing at around 60°C. This is without Photoshop, Google Earth and absolutely no games, in which case the fan roars into action. Regarding cleaning the internal vents of the fan, is there a YouTube or video tutorial on how to go about it on my model of Envy 15? I tried to remove the HD drive pulling up the rubber casing of the drive but it does not come off. How does one enter the fan area to clean out the dust and particles from inside? Removing the cover of the HD, wifi card and memory modules area is easy, but I couldn't go further. Do I need to go beyond this area and into to the fan area? Please help!

BOSD, Battery issues and Heating problem after iOS 8 upgrade

The same thing happened to me on my 2012 Subaru Outback. I'm not sure this will help you since you have a Honda, but I'm posting this just in case.
I paired the audio on my car with my iPhone 6. However, when I turned the car off and back on again, the iPhone would not pair automatically. I had to manually connect the iPhone with the car. Turns out there are two separate bluetooth pairings on my car: one for phone which allows up to 5 devices and one for audio which allows only one device. So I did the second bluetooth pairing for the phone (had already done the audio), and that fixed it. YMMV

How do I report a major memory leak problem with Firefox 3.6.10 in WinXP?

After I installed Firefox 3.6.9 on a WinXP desktop, I occasionally had minor memory leak problems, reflected by getting "out of virtual memory" messages. I upgraded to 3.6.10 when notified that it was available and that it supposedly fixed stability problems. Ever since then, whenever I use Firefox, it starts out quick as a flash, but very rapidly slows down to a crawl, and has twice brought my system to a halt. IE does not cause this, nor any other program I use, but the execution speed of all programs slows as badly as Firefox. If I knew where to get older versions, I would back up to 3.6.9 or earlier. The situation now prevents me from using Firefox much at all.

Im running windows 7, Firefox 3.6.10 and before i updated to 3.6.10 my CPU never went above 10% with Firefox open. Now it can spike well above 50% and i have nothing different from when i had 3.6.9 to now when i have 3.6.10.
There is no evidence for me to suggest one of the additions i have is causing it, its all pointing to Firefox itself and the last update.

That certainly looks like a low memory issue, 2 GB ram is barely enough to run Mac OS X versions from Lion through Yosemite. The high number of Page Outs and killed processes show very high memory pressure.
Try adding memory, but be sure it is high quality, Mac certified memory such as that from OWC, http://www.macsales.com or Crucial, http://www.crucial.com

Memory Leak Problem at Adobe LiveCycle Server 9.0

We want to upgrade our system to 9.0. During the performance test we have found memory Leak problem at ALS 9.0. I explain the detailed problematic issue below. Is there any body who has any suggest?
We have Adobe Livecycle ES2 9.0 SP2 installed on WAS 6.1. But also WAS on Windows Server 2008 R2. We call java web services from .Net Web service for generating PDFs.
On Java side “com/adobe/internal/pdftoolkit/services/javascript/GibsonMemoryTracking” class is causing Memory Leak problem at server.
Our .Net Codes. I copied below. First we generate PDF then we convert this pdf to static pdf.

memory leakage problems ?To an extent yes. During the mark phase it will be easier for the GC to identify the nullified objects on the heap while doing reference analysis.

??Same answer as earlier, Eventhough you nullify the object you cannot eliminate the reference analysis phase of GC which definitelely would take some time.

problems on devices ??There is nothing like soft/weak reference stuffs that you get in J2SE as far as J2ME is concerned with. Also, user is not allowed to control GC behavior. Even if you use System.gc() call you are never sure when it would trigger the GC thread. Kindly as far as possible do not create new object instances or try to reuse the instantiated objects.

1) created objects in oracle with the help of "create or replace type as objects"
2) generated C++ classes corresponding to oracle objects with the help of OTT utility.
3) Instantiating classes in C++ code and assigning values.
4) calling oracle stored procedure and setting object in statement with the help of setObject function.
5) deleted objects.

Memory increase problem on Solaris

We need your help in understanding and solving a memory problem in one of our products running on Soalris. The server memory keeps growing and there is a fear of a server crash.
We've run our product with Purify and libumem to identify memory leaks. Both of these products didn't report any leak. So, we are very much confident that there are no memory leaks in the product. Still the memory increase is seen on Unix systems. We've done extensive analysis on this subject and absorbed some key points regarding memory management in Unix.
1) Memory doesn't shrink on Unix systems. This is for the libc to retain the released memory and reuse it for further memory requirements.
2) Based on the memory requirements to our application there can be a stabilization point where in the application can serve all memory requests.
After reaching this point the Server memory doesn't increase.But the fear is that it may exceed the hardware resources constraint.
3) Rapid increase in memory can be because of Memory Fragmentation problem. There are environmental variables like Small Block Allocator (_M_SBA_OPTS) and Arena (_M_ARENA_OPTS) on HP-Unix machines which can be used to address Fragmentation issues. We've performed some tests using these variables and found significant improvement in the usage of memory. This confirms that there are no memory leaks. These variables are specific to HP-Unix machines and we are unaware of similar variables/mechanism on Sun Solaris Platform. Please recommend some environmental variables/mechanism on Sun Solaris platform to solve fragmentation problem.
We are performing some tests to observe memory stabilization over a period of time .
The memory bloat is following a pattern. Memory is increasing in chunks of (MB) 2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1024 MB pattern.
For example if Memory increase is 64 MB, then it stabilizes for some time and the next increase would be 128 MB at a time.
Then it stabilizes for double the time consumed earlier for 64 MB and after that only increases by 256 MB.
So the memory increase and stabilization time are getting doubled each time. Please validate our analysis and kindly suggest what can be done on Unix platforms for solving this memory increase problem.

Ours is a Multithreading application. We are testing it with Hoard for the last three days. The observation so far has been that the performance of Hoard is high but the bloat pattern is not avoided.
Even with Hoard, memory bloat is following a pattern. Memory is increasing in chunks of (MB) 2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1024 MB pattern.
We are searching for other ways to control this pattern and stabilize the application by making it to reuse the fragmented memory completely.
We have also tried Solaris libgc memory allocator (http://developers.sun.com/solaris/articles/libgc.html). It worked well initially and memory drop was seen. But on heavy load, it crashed the application with 'Can't allocate header' error. So this can't be used for heavy load.
We are trying to use Boehm-Demers-Weiser Garbage Collector (http://www.hpl.hp.com/personal/Hans_Boehm/gc/). Do any one have idea, if it controls memory fragmentation ?

Memory leak problems with loading videos over and over.

I'm having memory leak problems with loading videos into a VideoPlayer aswell as FLVPlayback.
What the flash should do:
- Should be running for 7 days without having to restart the projector.
- Interface that shows people around a 360 3D model with 5 different parts and at the stops it makes during the rotation you can click to zoom in on a location which plays a movie for that aswell.
- Shows a video out of 5 parts for a 360 rotation in 3D in mp4 video (added each time and cleaned up, see code below).
- Still images are used when the video clips are done playing (MovieClip in stage).
- Should run automatically when there is no user interaction for X minutes.
What the problem is:
- The flash (as a exe and swf i guess) starts to consume memory over time (say 10 hours) until the projector crashes. This usually at around 1.75 GB of memory.
I cannot see why the Flash cannot garbage collect this and free up the memory. Mabye there is something I don't understand about the garbage collection in flash?

Hmm. It's in connection with Dropbox. Så apparantly you can only use one of the two at the same time if you want the programs integrated in Finder.

Due to the rumored heat problems with the iPad 3, is there a danger in using a leather case design for it.

I recently purchased a 64 GB Verizon LTE iPad, along with a Bear Motion leather case designed specifically for that model. I've been reading a lot about the heat problems with the new iPad and although I haven't noticed them on mine, I'm worried that putting it in the case may cause worse problems. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Unless you have a defective iPad you should be fine. The only time it should be heating up is when you're running an intensive app like a game that's working the quad-core processor and the screen. I bought a Targus leather case for mine and play InfinityBlade2 on it and haven't noticed any heating issues with mine, but the part holding the iPad is plastic, so it can disipate heat better.
If your iPad gets too hot it'll warn you, so I'd use it for now and see what happens. It'll shut down before it causes any permanent damage.

How can I avoid memory leak problem ?

I use Jdev 10.1.2 . I have a memory leak problem with ADF .
My application is very large . We have at least 30 application module , each application module contain many view object
and I have to support a lot of concurrent users .
as I know ADF stored data of view object in http session .
and http session live is quite long . when I use application for a while It raise Ouf of Memory error .
I am new for ADF.
I try to use clearCache() on view object when I don't use it any more .
and call resetState() when I don't use Application Module any more
I don't know much about behavior of clearCache() and resetState() .
I am not sure that It can avoid memory leak or not .
Do you have suggestion to avoid this problem ?

ADF does not store data in the HTTP session.

Is memory leak Problem Solved in this new FW 4.08...

Hi frnds,This is my very first post. Im happy to be a member of N Series Family by owing a brand New N73 ME One Week Before (July 2008). The phone really Fascinated me with its features, Since my Previous Phone was Nokia 6630. Now let me Come to my problem.
A "Memory Full. Close some application" Error is encountering me twice or thrice a day. if i knowledge is correct, its Low RAM error & i found my RAM in the range of 18-20MB just after startup & along with usage of applications & closing, it maintain a range b/w 4-8MB. In this time wen i open a picture in inbuilt PicEditor this Memory full Error occurs(And sometimes while zooming a picture in gallery also). Will updating to the new FW according to my product code 0543843 is 4.0812.4.2.1 will solve the Memory leak problem ? i have gone through all the post regarding the issues on latest firmware updates Good & Bad. So im a bit confused that shud i update or not. Coz i have only this memory problem. Everything else is fine.
Please help me.

I have 4.0812.4.2.1 and I have the same problem..I think that in 4.0736 is best memory usage than other firmwares,but I can't downgrade firmware
