PBNW certification

We are going for PBNW certification of our application.
I had deployed application in J2EE engine using deploy tool. For EP-BP certification i had created URL iview pointed to the deployed application URL.
1. created role
2. created workset
3. created page
4. created URLiview
and done all the assignments correctly.
I would like to know the approach which i had followed is correct or not.
If the approach is wrong can any one guide me how to go about it.
Kindly reply ASAP.
Thanks in advance.
Prasad

Dear Prasad,
Pure URL iViews would indeed not qualify for EP-BP certification. The issue is that with this method it is not possible to give your iViews the portal Look&Feel, which is a mandatory criterion for certification.
However a good alternative would be to use the so called "Application Integrator". This also allows you to easily integrate an URL into the portal as an iView. In addition it offers methods to pass the name of the currently used stylesheet as well as other parameters like e.g. user mapping information to this URL.
You can find a good documentation about the AppIntegrator here: http://help.sap.com/bp_epv160/documentation/How-to_Guides/25_HowToUseAppIntegrator_en.pdf
Hope this helps!!
Best regards,
Markus

  • Is PBNW certification mandatory before SAP xApps certification

    Hi
We are going to develop an composite application by using the SAP composition tools. It fulfils the main requirements of Powered by SAP Netweaver, say running on SAP Netweaver AS and using EP as user interface. my question is
Is it mandatory to have PBNW certification first and go for SAP xApps certification next?
    or
Both certifications can be possible at the same time?
    or
If not what is the time gap for each certification?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Guru

    Greetings Guru,
Passing anyone of the 6 options listed below will get you to "PBNW" status:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn?rid=/webcontent/uuid/ab919ce1-0601-0010-4384-f25a892e0dea [original link is broken]
You are going for Option 6, "Packaged Composite Application", which will confer upon you the STATUS of "PBNW" once you pass.  There is no separate testing.  It is only a "status" and you can place SAP's PBNW logo on anything you want.
    Does that clarify things?

  • XI certification - which one?

    Hi,
We are an ISV in the area of Trim Optinization (used in the SAP Mill Products scenarios), a SAP partner, and have a product which is already certified on .Net Connector, but not as PBNW. We now want to go for PBNW certification, but are unsure which option to choose.
We don't have any java prgramming experience in our company, and we want to produce a meaningfull integration which we can resell. We were looking at the NW-XI option (3), but having read up on this, I am not sure that this is appropriate, as we are not really writing a new "technical adaptor". We could integrate our application via XML, but this looks more like the NW-XI-CNT (option 2). The problem with option 2 is that it appears that you must also have the EP-BP, which means having java experience. Also, we can't see much value in writing "iViews" for our product, as it has a complex GUI which probably could not be represented in such views.
For clarity, our application normally runs on it's own server, and is integrated to SAP APO via standard BAPI calls. The trim planner may also carry out detailed block planning in APO PPDS before and after Trim Planning.
We also have other questions: -
    1. How can we get a SAP landscape with the appropriate SCM + R/3 + DIMP installed to develop and test the integration, and is it included in the price of certification?
    2. What training courses will we need to?
    3. What is the overall cost, including certification, landscape, training etc.
We previously certified or product, X-Trim/APS with Christoph Claus at the ICC in Walldorf - maybe Christoph can help us with these decisions (I see that he answers a lot of postings in this forum : -)
    Kind Regards,
    Chris Brookes.

    Hi Chris,
You can read my Blog for more information about SAP XI adapter creation:
    /people/john.ta2/blog/2006/12/20/to-create-or-not-to-create-an-sap-xi-adapter
But I agree that option 2 is most likely what you are looking for.  PBNW requires that more than one SAP NetWeaver technology is used.  It would be simple to just use SAP Enterprise Portal to display some e.g. information, status change, list current information related to a user, etc.  Very little Java programming (to none) is required for creating your iView.  Look at this Blog for example:
Application Integrator to integrate URL iViews - /people/markus.pfeffer/blog/2005/12/14/integrating-your-web-front-ends-into-the-sap-enterprise-portal-using-the-application-integrator
Also, try to encourage some of your team members to learn Java since it will add to their technical skill sets and can only make them shine!
    In regards to your questions:
    1. Please look at our Developer Package (DPA) for the pricing of our SAP hosted environment for your development:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn?rid=/webcontent/uuid/15330f73-0501-0010-d59e-8a32e220b2ed [original link is broken]
    2. There are training course for SAP NetWeaver Exchange Infrastructure (XI) which you can prepare for or you can look at the online eLearning course on SDN's Exchange Infrastructure area.
    3. After deciding how many systems you need (depending on how you answer) to answer #1 and its price, factor the cost of training courses or eLearning (free), and adding the cost of the certification exam for option 2, you will have your answer.
    I hope this helps!

  • XI content certification

    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows the naming conventions for XI content certification
(I have both standard XI naming conventions for 2004 and 2006 but don't know
which one of these I should be using...)
I also check the zip from ICC which can be found on SDN
(so please don't send any links to it)
    thank you,

    Hi michal,
When we did a PBNW certification last Decembet the naming converntion document we followed was the document publushed ,<b>Version 1 July 3 2006</b>

  • Portal Integration of an existing Web Application

    Dear all,
we are preparing for the pbnw certification. Our way is to deploy our existing web application on the J2EE engine and make it accessible via the portal, i.e. where are taking the certification scenarios J2EE-DEP and BP-EP.
Up to now, my idea is to integrate the web surface of our application into the portal as far as this is possible without too much effort. Alternatively it would be possible to access our application via an URL-iView however to my feeling this is not a real integration. Did I get things right assuming that would meet the requirements for pbnw certification?
I read that it is necessary to follow the portal's look and feel by applying SAP's CSS. Does anyone know where to obtain these? And what is the easiest way to replace the currently used stylesheets by them?
    Millions of questions...
    Thanks a lot!
    Regards,
    Angela Grüner.

    Dear Angela
Please have a look at the following Weblog link which gives a detailed description of the method to create a URL iView using Application Integrator:
    /people/markus.pfeffer/blog/2005/12/14/integrating-your-web-front-ends-into-the-sap-enterprise-portal-using-the-application-integrator
If you adopt this method to create the URL iView, then it meets the requirement for EP-BP Certification.
The blog also includes an example of HTML code with applied SAP CSS. Please go through this section to implement EP look and feel.
    Hope this helps!

  • Enterprise Portal bundled with Netweaver in ERP6.0 - runtime only?

    Hi,
We are trying to get PBNW certification for our  product, which means we must get XI-CNT and EP-BP certification. In order to get EP-BP, we need to at least develop iViews for EP. We have been told that EP is bundled with NetWeaver that is delivered with ERP6.0. I am assumeing that this is only a "run-time" and not a development environment (i.e. would not contain tools such as Visual Composer).
Am I correct in this assumption, and that we need to purchase the EP Development environment seperatel?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Sudhakar,
For SAPUI5 you can go ahead with Portal 7.3 and ECC 6.0 EHP3.
Refer SAP note 1747308 - Installation Guide UI development toolkit for HTML5 (SAPUI5)
    for installation pre-requisites and steps.
Now for external facing portal & transaction iView can you please elaborate the requirement
    Hope this helps.

  • Minimum SAP versions compatable with NetWeaver?

    Hi All,
I have a client who operate with a fragmented environment when using SAP. Is this uncommon? I suppose not.
Our software has PBNW certification but I would like to know if my client can actually take advantage of the SAP NetWeaver integration. I am unsure of what versions of SAP are compatible with NetWeaver Platform.
My Client works with SAP versions 4.7, 4.6, 5.x, ECC6 (MySAP).
Any information on minimum requirements would be a great help.
Also any information on how the pricing structure works for XI data transfer from SAP to a PBNW application is calculated would be great.
    Thanks in advance
    Dave Hunt

    Hi,
You need to be a SAP customer to be able to login.
Anyway, what do you want to achive with NW. If you want to use specific NW tasks with ERP data  by e.g. calling remote function modules, any version of ERP will do.

  • Version of software to download for PBNW EP-BP Certification - ISV

    Hi All,
Please tell me where and what version of software (Sneak preview) I need to download for developing portal centent (Business Package) for getting certified as PBNW in EP-BP along with XI content?
What are all the software requirements and thier versions?? (J2EE WAS with EP, NWDS, PDK??)
    Thx
    Navin

    Hi Navin  ,
You can get it done on WAS 6.4, EP 6.0 SP15, NWDS with 2004. This all is available for download on SDN . You might want to check with the client if they wish to get certified on the latest version released . In that case you might want to do it with the release 2004s.

  • Combining multiple certifications into one

    Hi,
One of my customers (ISV) is interested in getting their product certified by SAP.  It doesn't use any specific pre-defined 'certifiable interface' per se.  But it provides custom solution integration between RFID/Wifi devices and SAP ECC 6.0 for enterprise assets management.
The solution being developed by the ISV has two parts - one deployed in the back-end ECC 6.0 (ABAP RFCs & other objects), and the second being Process Integration / XI content for interface transformation (NetWeaver Process Integration Content - XI 7.0).  If they have to get this solution certified by SAP, what kind of certification should they apply to?
After going thru the different types of integratino scenarios, I believe the following 2 are applicable
    - ABAP (ABAP Add-on)
    - NW-XI-CNT (XI Content)
My question is, should they apply for 2 different certifications?  Since it is a single product/solution comprises both these parts, can they apply for a single certification (like PBNW or something)?  If so, what will be that category?  I couldn't see such a common one in the possible certification list provided here: SAP Integration and Certification Center (SAP ICC)–Integration Scenario - Interface Reference Table
    Thanks,
    Venky.

    Hi,
    i've similar context.
My company produces an Warehouse Management that comunicate with SAP R/3 via JCo, we have certified product in 2001, the certification is WM-LSR. In this year we will re-certify the product. A customer has asked us to comunicate via SAP XI.
Now, we' ve subscribed two certification task:
    - WM-LSR;
    - NW-XI-CNT;
We use a ICC test system from both certification.
    Bye

  • New Certification blog and new magazine about certification

    Dear Oracle Certification addicts
Please consult the following blog http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/
I did really appreciate the To Certify or Not to Certify topic is it quite good.
Especially that Note to Hiring Managers: Just as candidate should not stake their careers solely on certification, you should not hire someone just because they are certified. Certification is an important factor and should play a role in your hiring process, but you should also base your hiring decisions on experience, education/training and communication skills (among other things). Most importantly you should follow up carefully with the candidate’s references. By looking at the whole package and verifying the details with multiple references you will improve your chances of hiring the right candidate.
And we have now also a dedicated magazine or new letter on the oracle certification
    Extract from the news letter:
July has been a busy month in Oracle Certification, with several new exciting things to share! Among them, our new and long-awaited Oracle Certification Blog. We are looking forward to sharing ongoing updates and discussing relevant topics in this short and easy to read format. Let us know what you think!
We’re also happy to share that we have quite a few certifications still available in beta for a significant discount. It’s not only your chance to be among the first to be certified, but allows you to participate in our development process by providing Oracle with valuable feedback.. And of course, we are ramping up for our annual Oracle blowout in San Francisco - Oracle OpenWorld 2008, coming up in September. We hope to see you there!

    Have good readings....

My understand is Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Professional (OCP) certification is already available via 1z0-050 to those with 10g OCP; to be technically correct IMHO this would make it a new path to the certification rather than a new certification ;-)

  • Need advice about certification: do J2SE 1.4 or wait for 1.5 to go out?

I need advice here! I am studing for Java Programmer certification (310-035) and I know now that the certification does not have any expiration date, instead it's version based. So, if I get now a J2SE 1.4 certification, soon it will be outdated... I guess!
Does anyone know or have any ideia of WHEN java 1.5 sdk will be avaliable, and anyone can tell me how long it will take for a new 1.5 programmer certification be avaliable for general public?

Do both. 1.5 is far enough away that you do not want to wait for it.
And besides, 1.5 has enough new stuff in it that you'll want to recertify anyway.
