PC Alert 4 v4.0.5.6 & Cooler XP

Hi all!
Since upgrading PC Alert 4 from version x.5.4 to x.5.6 Cooler XP hands out an error when I click on the Cooler XP button: "Load_HM_Driver fail". After clicking the OK button Cooler Xp starts up allright but to my experience does NOT cool my CPU! All I see is this blinking message: "CPU: Cooling.." See here for images.
Has anybody seen this error or experenced it? ?(
It looks like the program cannot load the HM Handler correctly or something like that.
I have a KT3 Ultra2 mobo with AMD Atl XP 1800+ & W2k server.
MSI Software Team: Can you fix this? A option of autoloading the Cooler XP program when PC Alert v4.x starts would also be nice. Or a standalone version...
I'm going back to v 5.4 that will not display this message so I hope..

It seems, that is common, but nevertheless, in my
PC, temp. goes down between 4 and 6 degrees (c).
Well my temp goes down allright but not as much as I had hoped and experienced (36c to 39c degrees when idle) so now i\\\'m stuck with 43c to 46c degrees...
Any options? CPUIdle or any other program? This PC isn't doing much except for some Webservices.

  • KT4 and Cooler XP

    I installed pc alert 4 and hit on the cooler xp feature.  I just noticed my CPU temperature is lower than my case temperature. Case is at 30C and CPU is at 29C. Isn’t that interesting.  Pd

    The system temp sensor may be between the first PCI slot and AGP slot, or somewhere near there if not mistaken. If you use a hot graphics card, that part will get hot too. Even it it's not, bad air flow around that area will accumulate heat too. Try with your casing fully opened and compare. If the temp dropped, then it's OK. If not, then you might have an issue.
    Again, as long as it's stable, any temperature is OK.

  • Cooler XP ** Load_HM_Driver fail

    Morning guys!
    Just updated to Live update 3 and downloaded the newest version of PC Alert 4 with Cooler XP. Now when my PC starts up and shows the PC Alert 4 window, if I activate Cooler XP, I receive a pop up window 'Load_HM_Driver fail'. How can I fix this 'easily'?

    I ended up unistalling the new version of PC Alert 4 that's just been released and reinstalled the older version. problem solved. The bug seems to be in the update and needs to be rectified.

  • PC Alert 4

    I downloaded PC Alert 4 as an alternative to cool n' quiet and ran into a problem. An alarm went off saying about my +12V being 2.2
    Can anyone tell me what this means?

    Yep I think the same too. I've been a bit woried that my power supply wasn't up to much and so the reading worried me further. Good to know it's not just happening to me though so I guess I ought not to worry now. My system is stable anyway.
    Thanks for the reply.

  • Tables inside overset text frames

    Hi everybody!
    Im trying to write a script to set the width of all tables in a document equal to its parent text frame, I was succesful, but
    the tables that are overflowed do not get resized. I have only come up with a way to find if there is an overflowed text frame
    but not to find and overflowed text frame contents. PLS HELP!
    heres my code:
    //resizes tables
    var myTextFrames = app.activeDocument.textFrames.everyItem();
    var myTables = myTextFrames.tables.everyItem().getElements();
    for (var i = 0; i < myTables.length; i++){
             var myTextFrame =  myTables[i].parent;
                        var myWidth = myTextFrame.visibleBounds[3] - myTextFrame.visibleBounds[1];
                myTables[i].width = myWidth;
    //finds a textframe with overset text
    var myOverset = app.activeDocument.textFrames.everyItem().getElements();
                    for(var x = 0; x < myOverset.length; x++){
                        if(myOverset[x].overflows == true){
                        alert("There is overset text")

    @Kai – cool. Maybe just a little thing:
    You suppose that the first text frame of a given story has the same width as the one with the overset (holding a table in the overflow).
    So, if we have the following situation:
    A table in the overflow will get too wide after running your script:
    Instead of the first text frame in the story we could address the last one directly with:
    else if ( container.constructor.name == "Story" ) {
        var myTextFrame = container.textContainers[0].endTextFrame;
    And the result will be:
    The property endTextFrame is in the class of TextFrame.
    We could also have written:
    else if ( container.constructor.name == "Story" ) {
        var myTextFrame = container.textContainers[container.textContainers.length-1];

  • PCAlert 4 4050

    I have a KT4 Ultra MS6590 with no clocking or speed ups of any kind runing in default setup with an Athlon XP 2000 and bios V1.4.
    With PCAlert 4 v4009 my cpu temperature was 47 degrees in XP and 57 degrees in heavy games as it has always been.
    I have just upgraded PCalert 4 to v4050 (PCAlert 5?) my cpu temperature is now only 30 degrees in XP and 37 in heavy games. Great a real CPU cooler
    I would recommend everyone to upgrade it really cools the CPU

    PC Alert 4 has a bug that shows a 4 celsius higher temperature. I suggest you to remove PC Alert icon from your startup menu and install on your Desktop a shortcut for Cooler XP, so when needed just click on it to avoid running PC Alert first. You'll find Cooler XP executable in the same Folder than PC Alert.
    To get an accurate reading of temperature, you shoud try Speedfan, a freeware utility that can be included in your startup menu (with a shortcut) and set it to run minimized. It shows a small counter in the notification are of the task bar with the correct temperature readings.
    You can get it at: http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php
    Good luck

  • PC Alert - Soft Cooler Button - Any Cooling?

    Think I just activated Soft Cooler button by depressing and function button shows in lighter color shade. Assume this is similar to other CPU software cooling when at idle. Any help/hinderance to your cooling or system functioning?
    P.S. Believe such a function is built into XP Pro, BUT I just dropped back to 98SE. Also have heard such "coolers" can shorten CPU life, but this isn't a chief concern for me.
    EDIT: Help file says it is more beneficial at higher temps. My room temp is now almost 26C, and my CPU 41C and case 28C.

    This Soft Cooler in PC Alert III really seems to be helping the CPU temp. My room temp has increased about 8C, and CPU temp is 6-7C lower than it usually is at this temp. Will keep a sharp eye on it. Pretty decent cooling for free.
    Still interested in anyone else's results.

  • Can I the same alert sound be used in iCal and on iPhone calendar apps?

    Maybe I'm getting old and having a plethora of blips and bleeps going off all day is making me wonky, but it's begun to drive me mad that iCal on my MacBook Pro and Calendar on my iPhone use, by default, completely different sets of alert tones.  I'm trying to, which I realize may be a futile endeavor (of which, if you have certainty, please don't hesitate to pipe up.), get as many sounds as possible in like programs to be the same.  I think it would solve every problem in life (yes. every. single. one.) if I was able to hear my computer blip from the other room, my iPhone blip while pedaling thru traffic and know "a-hah, I need to check my Calendar to see what's up!" rather than "was that 'whistle' a Calendar reminder or a Reminder reminder?... oohhh I can't remember", because my simple brain has been Pavlovianly trained to associate that single sound with one meaning only.  This, to me, sounds far more pleasurable than some syntho-digital cacophany resulting from each app and application vying for it's own unique style and the resultant uncertainty over whether or not I need pay attention or note to myself to later just turn the sound off. Thanks & enjoy your waffles!

  • Can you set an alert for birthdays in Addressbook and iCal?

    When I migrated from Palm Calendar to iCal, my calendar had my birthdays in it repeating each year and with a 7 day alert so I could send a card or get a present in time.
    I see you can list a birthday in Addressbook and set the iCal pref to show them which is at first glance very cool and green but when I open the birthday event in iCal I don't see any way to set an alert which is a big limitation.
    If I can't set alerts, then the Addressbook/iCal birthday syncing is kind of pointless and limited, unless I'm missing how to set alerts.

    Hi Steven,
    This is one of the reasons why I wrote Dates to iCal.
    As well as automatically syncing birthday dates from Address Book, Dates to iCal can sync anniversary and custom dates. It can set up to five alarms for each date in iCal and can also set different alarms for birthdays and anniversaries.
    Best wishes

  • Temperature Monitor Alert:Memory controller heatsink Results!!!

    Hello all...
    I have a question about the Memory Controller Heatsink sensor in the temparature monitor and I would appreciate it if you could shed any light in my problem.
    Well it was long time since I checked my temperatures on my G5 DP 2.3 so yesterday while I was into some MP3 encoding I heard the fans making alot of noise ,not something unbearable but not the usual silence behaviour I was used to even under heavy load and with the nap off.
    So because of that noise I decide to check it with the temperature monitor but nothing unusual came up except...yes you guess it the Memory Controller heatsink.
    An alert came up and inform me that the temp was over 75 C/167 F.
    The threshold was by default at 75 C/167 F.
    Let me add that it's summer here and a hot one at 37 C and the room is not airconditioning,but it was exactly the same one year ago(June 2005)and I never came up with an alert.
    Also I have no problem with the rest indications.
    So what do you think is it normal or may I have a broken fan?
    And finally what is the Memory Controller Heatsink?
    Thanx in advance!

    The memory controller heatsink is shown, with the associated cooling tubes and fins, in the right-hand photo of the 'back' of the main logic board here
    http://homepage.mac.com/jerrycube/jerrycubepix/22601bluebord.jpg
    Air is pulled over the back of the main logic board and through the cooling fins, by the fan in a plastic housing, at 90deg to all the other fans, behind the hard drives.
    This fan is called "Main Logic Board Backside" by Hardware Monitor in this ancient DP2.0 - and is showing "20%" in 22deg C room temperature. "Memory Controller Heatsink" is at 54deg C.
    37deg C is above the specified max. 'Operating Temperature' of 35deg C shown here
    http://support.apple.com/specs/powermac/PowerMac_G5_Late2005.html
    I think it would probably be advisable to find some way of lowering the temperature of the room the G5 is in...
