Pc booted, but now wont.
Ok
I just got a board today (been after one for ages), a K7N2 Delta ILSR (especially after i built a system for my bud with 1) and proceeded to rip my old system to pieces and installed the new K7N2 in place of my KT3 Ultra 2C.
Powered up, and it took off, not a problem. (at this stage i had reached Windows and hadn't installed all the nForce drivers or took off the Via stuff)
So i shut it down to go into the BIOS and disable all the stuff i didnt need (onboard sound, modem, set AGP apature to 256mb based on the recommended half your system ram size for you aperture size) went thru checking my settings, and it was reading ok.
I saved the info to the cmos and restarted.
it whirred
but my screen didnt come on.
I checked the D Bracket, and its telling me that the system is now hanging at the memory test (only LED 2 is green, rest are red)
So i powered down, whipped out the ram, cleaned it, reseated it (1 stick in slot 1 , 1 in slot 2. RAM is Kingston Infineon 2 x single sided 256 sticks of ddr333 ram) and its the same.
I tried reseating just 1 stick in slot 1 (tried this with both). and i then get 1 long beep, it stops, 5 sec later, 1 long beep. This continues till i shut it down.
I then try both sticks in slots 1 & 2 (both purple's) and again, 2nd LED lit, pc fails to initialise, and the same bios beep occurs.
I open her up again, clear the CMOS and reset it. put the ram back in the original config (1 purple, 1 green) and again, it fails to boot, leaving #2 LED lit but no beeps.
I whipped the board out and put my old KT3 back in, and everything works fine.
SO i rerig with the K7N2, and same problem, wont boot beyond failing the initial memory test.
So far its taken me 4 hrs, and i've swapped boards and such 4 times, tried with just basic rig and still it wont boot past the memory test.
At this time im stumped, as the pc i built for my bud with the same type of board, worked fine with a budget (not sure if its the same kingston infineon stuff, but i got it from Savastore.com/watford in the uk) Yet after this initial boot up when it did work, now it refuses to.
Is it likely that the board has a fault and needs returning? (will be the second K7N2 board i've worked on that needs returnin after less than 6 weeks use, my buds one topped itself after he looked into flashing the bios, tho he didnt actually do it, his died completely a lil while later, wouldnt even power up when switched on. No power light nuthing on the d bracket, was just dead)
Has my adjusting of the AGP apature, disabling the Modem and Audio and setting the first boot display slot to AGP from PCI really killed my board too?
Ok
just tried to set the beast up, and guess what, same as before.
The pc powers up, the D bracket gets to led 2 in the test and the machine hangs (memory problems)
The pc emits 1 long beep, pauses, 1 long beep, pauses........so on and so on, until i switch it off.
The ram is getting the right voltage and *seems* to be working correctly (the GeIL golden dragon pc3200 Ultra dual channel. see links) yet the pc hangs and wont do a thing. I've tried reseting the bios, i've tried remnoving the battery and then replacing it after a period of time (as someone suggested, god know why as it didnt do jack), i've tried various different ram sticks in every possible combination, and still the darn thing refuses to POST (so for all those who keep sayin *give it a clean install*, I CANT DANG IT)
Seems this board shall have to go back to the supplier, and i'll just have to try my luck with something else.
Cant believe i'm having so much trouble from a piece of kit, from a manufacturer whose stuff i have always used
heres the ram i tried last

i have just got an ipad mini 2 and i am trying to back it up however it gets to step 4 then keeps saying syncing ipad but now wont change, what shall i do?
Hi Gavinchick,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Start with these tips if your iPad mini is stuck on "syncing" when you try to back it up:
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Plug the device directly into a high-power USB 2.0 port on the computer. If possible, use a USB port on the back of the computer.
Avoid plugging the device into a keyboard, display, or standalone hub. The USB ports on these accessories may be low-power or only offer USB 1.x connections.
If you are using an accessory, remove the accessory and connect the device to the computer using only the Apple 30-pin to USB Cable or Lightning to USB Cable.
If you have access to additional Apple 30-pin to USB Cable or Lightning to USB Cables, try testing with another if the first one doesn't work.
Restart your computer and device. To restart your device:
Hold the power button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the Sleep/Wake button to turn it back on.
Disconnect all USB devices from your computer, except for your keyboard and mouse. Then reconnect the iOS device. If the issue is resolved, reconnect other USB devices, testing after each connection.
You can find these steps and more information here:
iOS: Troubleshooting USB connection

Appletv worked with old wireless router but now wont with airport extreme
I purchased an appeltv and mac mini in December. Connected everything through my old linksys wireless router and everything worked great.
past weekend I purchased a macbook and so I decided to get an aiport extreme also and keep it all in the family.
well i now have my mini, macbook, printer everythings sharing printers and streamin itunes back and forth....but now my appletv wont sync.
I cant get the appletv to popup in either of my macs itunes.
any ideas???If the OP has used both routers then this is correct.
I suspect though that the OP has simply swapped out the router for the new extreme. In which case they may need to delete the tv's from the itunes prefs and relink them (the pass code thing). Streaming is initiated from the tv, syncing from itunes, if streaming works and syncing doesn't it may well be that the tv sees the itunes library but itunes doesn't see the tv, or at least doesn't see it as the same device it's linked to. -
I was using my iPhone 4, took a picture, the phone froze. Some how got it to shut off, but now it wont turn back on. What should I do?
Hi duckygallery,
If your iPhone will not power on at all, the first thing I would suggest would be to make certain that battery has a sufficient charge. Plug in your device and let it charge for at least 10 minutes, then try turning it on.
See this article -
Charge your iPhone and iPod touch - Apple Support
You should see a battery icon while your device is charging. If you continue to see a black screen, reset your device.

Ok, I have a Mac g4, os9. ..450 Processor. I Think I upgraded ram, can't remember. Maybe a 512 card. Added an 80 gig internal HD for music storage. Computer was solely used for protools LE 5. I knew I was kinda close on my memory for running the program after recording things with plug ins etc. It was beginning to get slow at startup. Anyway it's been a couple years since I used it. I got it set up yesterday and it wouldn't launch and kept giving me error code 10. So I replaced the battery and tried again. the small finder icon in middle of screen would then pop up and alternate with a "?". Then it would change to a pict of a hard drive disk and then a me alternating "?". It would still give me the error code if I clicked on anything. So I then held down the shift key to turn off extensions as it had mentionEd to do a couple times. Still would give me the error code on my home page. If I tried to get into my hd which is on desktop it would give me the message, but somehow it did open one occasion and I went into it and scrolled to disk verify and repair. Did it. Said things were fine. I then saved the results in a file which was then offered along with location. I chose desktop. Probably really bad idea in hind sight.. It did it, but now no matter if I turn extensions off, the home screen pops up but then goes blank. The hard drive icon along with the new folder, and my protools icon immediately dissapear. And it freezes. at one point a message did pop up saying finder could not start up because there is not enough memory available. I'm not a computer guy. Ive tried finding the guy who helped me set this thing up 10 years ago but to no avail. If I can be guided to somehow uncover some of the unneeded memory usage I would then learn how to more efficiently use it. How the heck do I even start. I can't get to a screen which shows what's eating my computers space to even start getting rid of unneeded stuff. Please help if you can. I have so much to loose if I can't get it to work. Btw...I no longer have the os9 disk. I think it was tossed 10 years ago or more. May not even have my original pro tools disks anymore. Uggh.
Ouch, tough spot, but offhand I'd say some memory may have gone bad, or maybe just needs re-seating after all this time.
Not much you can do, but try this anyway...
PRAM reset, CMD+Option+p+r...

My mac froze and wouldnt startup because it was forced to sleep while a complex program was running, and simply ended up on a blank grey screen, and this happened upon every startup. so then i tried to use a safe boot but this ended me up on the startup utilities thing. i have realised that none of the options: restore from time machine backup, reinstall osx mountain lion, and repair disk are available to help me startup, and i cant select a startup disk either as it says none are available. so i am stuck on this program and it reapears every time i restart or shutdown and reboot, so i cant do anything. Please is there any way i could either quit startup utilities or get back to my computer desktop as i have lots of non-backed up image and video files that i cant afford to lose. please help!
Maybe this will help.
Startup Grey Screen -
Updated iTunes, computer restarted but now wont boot up.
Today the kids updated iTune on their mac, the computer restarted now its been stuck on the gray screen with the loading circle and apple symbol, when I tried to do a safe boot it went to the file with a ? on it.
I've tried most things that apple recommends doing, we updated recently to the newest OS but we have no install disks.
Apart from dragging a 24" into the city to get fixed, are there any other options?
Thanks.I've left it on for awhile now, the spinning globe (loading circle thing) has disapeared, the apple logo is still there, but does nothing else.

I had gotten a gift card with around $20 on it so I decided to buy some songs. I had bought a few, then I bought the last song, and now iTunes wont allow me to update my apps, or let me download any other apps because apparently I have $0 on my card; The weird part about that is it let me keep the song, but wont let me get anything else regardless of the charge. I don't have a credit card myself, so I'm really trying to avoid buying another gift card for one 99 cent song. Does anyone know how to get rid of a song from the billing receipt? I've tried everything!
ThanksPurchases are considered final, but you can try the 'report a problem' link to contact iTunes Support and see if they will cancel the purchase : http://reportaproblem.apple.com

Used Time Machine to Restore system but now wont recognise original backups
Hello Everyone,
I've had a read through some of the older posts, but I wasn't able to find a answer for my issue.
I've recently restored my system using a Time Machine backup - Everything works wonderfully now, except for Time Machine itself, which is now refusing to use/display my original backups.
I have selected the correct disk, but rather than using the backups on it, it creates a new folder in the Backups.backupdb folder called 'Peter's iMac 2'. I have deleted this new folder several times already.
My actual backups are stored in the 'Peter's iMac' folder.
I can browse my backups using the 'Browse Other time Machine Disks' function, but it does not seem to want to use them as my primary backups.
I do not have the room to hold both my old backups, and a separate new backup.
Does anyone have any idea how I can force/trick/entice Time Machine to accept my old backups?
Thanks everyone.aussie,
*_Time Machine Always Performs a Full Backup After a Full Restore_*
Actually, this is normal. It's not that any of your hardware has changed, it's that you reinstalled the operating system again. Consider the following according to the KB article below:
*Full Backup After Restore*
Bear in mind that in all cases Time Machine will perform a full backup after a full restore. This is normal. Time Machine will resume incremental backups after the full backup has completed. To view previous backups, Control-click or right-click the Time Machine icon in your Dock or Option-click the Time Machine menu extra and Choose "Browse Other Time Machine Disks," then select your previous backup volume. You will enter Time Machine and be able to browse your previous back ups and restore files. [http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1338]
So even on unchanged hardware, if you reinstall your system software and restore your user data, Time Machine starts anew, and you will not be able to resume backing up with the same history as the previous backups.
While there may be ways to fool/hack Time Machine into recognizing previous backups without performing another full backup, they are likely rather elaborate.
Ultimately, though, in a couple of months, all the effort to preserve old backups may seem pointless. After all, Time Machine will eventually purge away that data anyways as it replaces it with new files.
It may simply be easier to begin a fresh series of backups while saving the previous backups until your satisfied that you have enough history built up. Then delete the old backups.
Hope this clarifies some things.
Cheers! -
Charged phone but but now wont start up
charged my i phone 5 s up last night and today it wont turn on i have had it plugged into my laptop for 2 hours to see if it will kick in but nothing
A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 15-20 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.
No content is affected by this procedure. -
i have a macbook pro and i put a 500 gb hard drive but know pro wont start up but when i firewire it to another mac the harddrive seems to be fine
When you formatted the drive, before installing OSX, did you click Options on the Partition and select Mac GUID Bootable ?
Just because it mounts as an external does not mean it's a bootable Volume ... -
P6N Diamond ran perfect but now wont post / no display
Like those here I built many a computer in my day using all the right tools and precautions. But this one really has made me mad. I don't have much money, so believe me when I say I saved my pennies...cause I sure did for this rig although nothing special. Enough of the sob story on with the program. I had it running fine...all temps voltages were up to spec and fine. No over clocking what so ever not even the ram. When I would shut the computer down and left it off for more then a few hours it would not post. The D-Bracket leds showed that it was freezing on the ever so wonderful:
"Initializing Video Interface
This will start detecting the CPU clock, checking type of video onboard. Then detect and initialize the video adapter"
So cussing like a sailor I ran through the onslaught of checking every component on and off different settings ect.
I tried:
- Reseting the CMOS
- Removing all peripherials
- Setting the board up outside the case
- Switching graphics cards with known graphics cards
- Swapping the memory
- Starting it with a pin (instead of the case switch)
- Reseating the processor
you name it and I tried it...I read through as many posts as I could....tried the tricks and yet nothing. I'm ready to RMA it...cause I'm past the Newegg 30 days by 9 days.
My system Specs:
-MSI P6N Diamond
-Core 2 Quad Q6600 SLACR (stock speeds)
-2 gig Patriot DDR2 800MHz kit (2 X 1GB) PDC22G6400LLK 2.2v (Stock latency)
-Antec p182 case
-2 SATA Drives (1 maxtor 160 and 1 Seagate 160)
-1 SATA DVD Burner Liteon
-Ultra 500 Watt ATX Power Supply ( SLI Ready) (if you need voltages I'll post)
Thank you for any and all help.Quote
The 8600GT doesn't have a power connector to it.

+5V/30A +3.3V/30A +12V1/16A +12V2/18A -12V/0.6A +5VSB/2.5A
This could be the cause of your problem. Your PSU has two seperate +12V rails that cannot accumulate their power output.
If your video card does not have its own power connector, it may be trapped on one of the two rails together with your quad core and other system devices.
I believe this is a very possible explanation at the moment.
If you are going to try a different PSU, it will be best if you try one that has just one strong +12V rail. Around 30A should be fine. If your system won't boot up a proper PSU, the problem is somewhere else. -
