As crazy as this sounds, this is actually the correct answer. This happened to me from 10.0.1 to 2. It wouldn't recognize the need to update (even in App store). Had to put the app itself in the trash, then log in to the AppStore account I used to purchase FCPX, and then I just downloaded the full, latest version. Installed that. Everything worked fine. I know it's a little nerve-wracking, just back up all your projects and files before (Projects and Events should remain untouched even if you put your FCPX App in the trash).
Good luck! -
Dowloaded After Effects and says its up to date but there is no trace of it being anywhere on my computer. All other Softwares are there, except that one. Can't re-dowload it. Help Please!
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 Do as Mylenium told you. If you don't know where it is. Go to www.adobe.com, sign in, search for the cc cleaner tool downloader and it should fix the issues. Have you went into your control panel, under programs and features and removed it from there?

i have a macbook circa 2007 and am trying to update my software and it says its up to date but it only has mac os x 10.5.8. please help?
The first step in Upgrading... is to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...
Snow Leopard Tech Specs
http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
If so Contact Apple in your Country to Purchase a Snow Leopard Disc...
http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
In the US...
1-800-MY-APPLE or 1-800-676-2775
After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
Be sure to make a Backup of your Current System Before Upgrading... -

Apple's servers are being hammered by everyone and his dog trying to get the update the minute it was released. I'd suggest you wait a few hours, or perhaps until tomorrow, and then try again.

Suddenly, my HP Laserjet 6mp won't print. The icon says it's in use (but it isn't), at other times it says it's not connected (but it is). Help!
That page's troubleshooting for the "Filter failed" message worked out. I consulted the Wiki before but never found that exact page. I guess I didn't use the best search criteria. Thanks for pointing it out.

Software out of date, but won't update, Software out of date, but won't update
My mac is running 10.4.11. I know it's out of date, but when I try software update, it says my software is up to date. I'm assuming this is the reason I can't update my iTunes and thus also can not sync my iPhone to my iTunes.
I saw another question similar and someone responded that you would need to PURCHASE the next update. Is that true? And if so, that's terrible. Please tell me there are downloads available for me so that I can update my operating system and then update my iTunes.Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard installation system requirements

Leopard is no longer available at the Apple Store but may be available by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753).
If you can't obtain a retail install DVD from Apple, look on eBay or Google the installer part numbers to possibly find at an on-line store. Here's what to look for:
MB427Z/A Leopard 10.5.1 install DVD
MB576Z/A Leopard 10.5.4 install DVD
MB021Z/A Leopard 10.5.6 install DVD (single user)
MB022Z/A Leopard 10.5.6 install DVD (5-user family pack)

Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard Installation and Setup Guide

After you install the base 10.5, download & install the 10.5.8 combo update at http://support.apple.com/downloads/Mac_OS_X_10_5_8_Combo_Update
The DVD should look like this
Caution - Leopard does not support classic mode. So, if you currently open OS 9 apps in classic mode, you won't be able to do this if you upgrade to Leopard.

Can't download ios8 as phone saying software up to date, help?
THe sound on my iPhone 4 has stopped working was advised to download ios8 to fix problem but phone says Iam up to date, can anyone help?
If none of the suggestions posted by pogster do not help, you may have to restore your device to factory settings (restore as "new")
1. Make a full iTunes backup & be sure all your music is backed up as well.
2. Restore the device and set it up as new as posted by pogster above (second listed link)
3. Test the device as new for your current sound issues. Don't make any setting changes nor set anything up yet like mail.
If the device operates normally and the sound issue is resolved, you most likely have a corrupted or botched setting in your device's backup. If you restore the device using this backup, you'll also restore the corrupted/botched setting. In this case, you'll need to setup the device again from scratch and re-install all of it's previous content, again from scratch. Sometimes, settings can get corrupted and the only recourse is to setup the device totally from scratch as new. I had to do this recently to an iPad mini 2 which also had a sound issue...no amount of fiddling with the settings worked. It was setup as new, tested as mentioned above, & the sound issue was resolved by the setting up as new.
If the device operates with the same sound issues when restored as new, restore the device using the backup you made in step 1 and your device will be as it was before testing. In this case, it -may- be a hardware issue and you'll need to investigate further, possibly taking it to an Apple Store for evaluation.

Organizer Crashes - says Direct X 10 Installed, but it isn't
The Photoshop Elements Organizer has just started crashing on me every time I try to open it. It says "DirectX 10 is installed, but could not be initialized" and says to reboot. I've rebooted multiple times and still crashes. If I say I want to go to the Editor, that works fine. I can open Premiere Elements fine. I have run DXDiag and it says I have DirectX 9c not 10. I have uninstalled Photoshop and reinstalled and get the same error. I cannot think of anything that has changed on my computer since I used the organizer last other than installing a TMNT game which says it uses DirectX 8. I've searched the Web and can't find any similar complaints. I am running in windows XP. Help!
Thanks. Please download the codecs from http://www.free-codecs.com/download/DirectX.htm.
Try reinstalling the application if this does not solve your problem. Please let me know if that works!
