PC crashed how do I transfer content to new computer?
My PC crashed and all I have is the content of my iPhone and on my son's iPod and the iPad. How do I transfer their content to the new computer.
No I haven't backed up the computer. I know that I can get my purchased apps and songs back as iTunes keeps a record of what you have bought but what about your CD's that you have downloaded and how do you preserve your notes and info.
I use my iPad to download my photos to and edit them. Am I able to off load those on to an external hard drive before I sync.
I may have a copy of something's on an old iPod classic as I had to transfer from a PC to a Mac some months ago so I am hoping I won't be in too much trouble with this. But I worry about a locked notes file I have and my photos, contacts etc.
I guess that I am in a position to manually record or print off any info I need to keep but what a job!!!!
I'd like to be lazy and avoid all of that if I can.

New computer: How do I transfer content to new computer?
Hi,
My MacBook Pro got stolen about 5 days ago... I just got a new one and restored my files from a Time Machine backup that I did 30 days ago.
On my iPhone I keep a "Recently Added" playlist that goes back to 4 weeks, where all the new music that I've purchased/imported to iTunes in the last 30 days is - the exact music which is not in my Time Machine backup....
How do I transfer those songs back to my computer? I guess this also applies to contacts/applications, which would be cool to have back!You'll find details in on copying purchases to your computer in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to the iPod and iPhone. However there are a few third party utilities that are advertised as iPhone and iPod Touch compatible which can be used to retrieve the music files and playlists etc. Have a look at the web sites and help pages for these ones and see what you think or check the web for reviews:
Senuti Mac Only (Currently only the beta version is iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

How do I transfer to my new computer after my old computer crashed?
I spilled a glass of wine on my old computer and it crashed awhile back. I have a new computer and am wodering if I can move my account to the new computer without starting all over. I have it all on my IPOD but when I put it in the new computer it says it is gong to erase everything. I do not want to lose it all. Please help! Thank you!
It has alwys been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Use your backup copy of your old computer toput everything on the new one.

What is the easiest way to transfer my itunes music from my ipod classic to my new computer?
If you purchased all of the songs through itunes store, please follow these steps:
1. Open up Itunes and Click on Itunes Store
2. Once you're in the Itunes Store look to right side of the screen and you should see the word "purchased". Click purchased and you'll be sent to a purchase screen.
3. Click on "All Songs" and then it will show all the songs you've downloaded. From there you just hit the button that looks like a cloud with an arrow on it, and it will download all the songs all over again.
If you didn't purchase them through Itunes, then you'll have to download software that will strip the songs from your iPod. And here is a guide about how to transfer iPod classic songs to computer. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help. -
I have a new computer, how do i transfer apps to new computer
I have a new computer. How can I transfer my apps on my phone to my new computer?
Ideally you would have backed up the library from your old comupter on a regular basis, and have restored that library to your new computer...
You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

How do I transfer acrobat pro to my new computer?
Cloud subscriptions do not need serial numbers as far as I know, but if you mean you purchased a "permanent license" it does and it should be registered under the Adobe account that you purchased it at this link.
https://www.adobe.com/account/my-products-services.html#MyProductsHeader
Next to your product name is a right-pointing triangle, click on it and you will see your serial number.

How do i transfer ebook to new computer
I've been issued a new computer at work and need to transfer e-book from old to new. The e-book is for a course that I'm doing. I can't seem to find instructions for doing this. I've authorised both computers but in the process of authorising the second computer I had to reset my password. Thanks.
CindyThere is no automated help from Adobe or others on this.
Find the .epub file(s) for the book on the old computer. (or if you are unlucky, the .pdf files)
It may well be in your Documents under "My Digital Editions"
e.g. C:\Users\<userid>\Documents\My Digital Editions
Copy the files using whatever method is convenient (USB stick, network sharing, ...)
Probably easiest to copy them to the equivalent folder on the new machine.
Open ADE on the new machine: one of
ctrl-O or File/Add to Library in ADE
drag-drop from Explorer onto ADE
double-click in Explorer (if ADE has registered with the .epub filetype)
As long as you have used the same AdobeID to authorize both computers, all should be fine.
It's the underlying ID that matters, and changing the password does not change that.
~~~
Also note that there is no automated help for backup either.
Neither Adobe nor the publishers guarantees a copy of you books somewhere in there servers.
Make sure you have a safe backup of all your DRM .epub files in case of computer failure. -
How do i sync music from my ipod to a new computer without loosing the music i have on it that has not been purchased from itune its from my CDs
The ipod is not a backup device. The music sync is one way - computer to ipod. The ony exception is itunes purchases.
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one. -
Hard Drive Crash - How to Copy from iPOD to new computer
My hard drive crashed and is dead, with over 3000 files of songs in my iPOD library. Can I use my iPOD, which still has the library, to copy those files to a new hard drive recently installed? How? If I just synch with the new version, will I lose anything from the iPOD? (Novice here).
ThanksConnect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
Comparison of iPod managers
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod2PC Windows Only
iDump Windows Only
SharePod Windows Only
iPodRip Mac & Windows
YamiPod Mac and Windows
Music Rescue Mac & Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
Floola Mac & Windows
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay. -
How do you transfer content from an iPod touch to iTunes?
How do you transfer content from an ipod touch to itunes without buying another software?
You can't. Mobile devices are not set up to transfer most items to a computer and if that's what you want to do (with the noted exception) then you have to pay for it.
Some of the information below has subsequently been summarized and duplicated by turingtest2 in the document: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):
My daughter has shared my iTunes account for the past 10 years. Now that she has established her own iTunes account, how can she transfer content from my account to her new account?
If you want to share iTunes purchases between multiple accounts in the same family you could use Family Sharing.
