PC Crashed, No Back-up of music, is there any way to retrieve from ipod
I just posted another one regarding same problem. I restored pc, but had to reinstall iTunes, now when I try to plug in my ipod, iTunes says that my ipod is synced with another iTunes library, and asks if I want to sync with this one, but if I do, it erases everything?
It is not listed in my computer either? When I click cancel, my ipod appears in itunes, but I cannot copy or do anything to any of the songs there?
Please help, any help is GREATLY appriciated...
Kelly
Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
TuneJack Windows Only
iPod2PC Windows Only
iGadget Windows Only
iDump Windows Only
iRepo Windows Only
iPodRip Mac & Windows
YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
Music Rescue Mac & Windows
iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

My old iTunes library has been replaced by a new library, I didn't download a new version or authorize it. I have lost all my music, is there any way of retrieving my old library.
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss. To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991 -
Is there any way to import from ipod back to itunes??
I have a problem... my hardrive over heated last week, and I lost EVERYTHING. I have to start completely over, and just redownloaded itunes to my fixed computer. luckily, I had a good amount of my music saved on my ipod. however, is there any way to import the other way around, and move music from my ipod back onto my computers and itunes??? i cant stand having an empty library!
-brianaBit of a pain but possible:
1) My documents, tools, folder options, show hidden files
2) open itunes
3) edit, preferences
The most important bit coming up:
4) LEAVE PREFERENCES OPEN THROUGHOUT WHOLE PROCESS, OTHERWISE IPOD WILL BE WIPED.
5) plug in ipod
6) open my computer
7) ipod should be in devices with removable storage
8) into ipod
9) into ipod control
10) into music
11) select all
12) copy
13) into my documents
14) into my music
15) into itunes (folder)
16) into itunes music (folder)
17) paste
when the paste has finished:
18) use remove ipod icon on toolbar to get ipod disconnected safely
19) into itunes program
20) close preferences
21) file, add folder to library
22) find your way back to itunes music folder
and there it all is. Go back to hiding hidden folders in tools, folder options when done, or they can get in the way (or deleted by mistake!)
no idea how to do any of this on a mac, i'm a PC user!
take it easy,

I had an iPhone 4 that got stolen and just got a new one, so after I had taken important photos I plugged the phone into iTunes and it accidentally restored to my old iPhone data and uploaded all that information, deleting the new photos before I had a chance to back them up. I don't suppose there is any way of retrieving this lost data?
If these are photos that were synced to your phone, the only way to extract them from your phone is third-party software, like this:

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
You can trasnfer your purchases from the iPod to the computer with this article:

I formerly had an iPhone 3 with my iTunes account/music on it. I've recently purchased an iPhone 5s. I no longer have the iPhone 3. Is there any way to retrieve music from my account and put on my iPhone 5s?
Yes. Sign in to the iTunes Store with the same Apple ID you used to buy the music in settings on the phone.
Then tap on "purchased" in the iTunes app on the phone and download the music to your new iPhone. -
I received some MMS messages a while back and have backe dup my phone since then. I now want to get these messages back, but they are obviously gone from my phone. Is there any way to retrieve them? I'm guessing no, but any input would be welcomed.

is there any way to retrieve data from an IPOD TOUCH 4 if the device has never been backed up to a computer??
Only if you used PhotoStream then try getting them (photos only) from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:

my screen smashed so had to get a new phone, my phone hadn't been backed up since march is there ANY way at all I could retrieve my pictures and/or videos? from all of my holidays please any help would be much appreciated! Thanks

Yeah but I can't upload them because there not on the phone?
Is that a question?
Photo stream pictures can be viewed only on the devices they were sent to. You can't transfer them back to your phone (or anywhere else). If you didn't back up or import the photos to a computer, and they are no longer on your phone, they're gone. -
My computer crashed, I don't have the serial number for lightroom 4. Is there any way to retrieve the serial number. I can't remember where I purchased this.
Lfiles37 if the serial number has been registered then it will be available under your account. You can find more details at Find your serial number quickly - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html.

hello...i updated my 3gs and didnt back up my songs and apps...is there any way to retrieve them?
Itunes content is not included in the backup that itunes makes when syncing.
You should always make sure that you have transferred all of your purchased itunes content to your computer before any update.
If you failed to do this, then you can redownload as expalined in the previous post.
