PC Crashes when iPhone docks

I have a Dell M1210 notebook running WinXP(latested updates)with Norton Anti-Virus installed. The PC runs fine as does iTunes. Plug in the iPhone dock, all OK! Plug in the iPhone and just after recognizing the phone as a digicam, the whole system crashs!! Windows Blue screen. I ran a Dell crash anyalyzer which brought up this Symantec driver as a possible issue: NavEx15.Sys.
Has anyone else experienced similar problems?? Help?

I would have to suggest uninstalling Norton completely to see if that makes a difference. I can remember multiple times when Norton was the culprit in causing troubles with my pc's, I uninstalled it years ago and never went back. Although doing that didn't get rid of all my pc troubles, it done away with a bunch. You may also check Nortons website to see if there has been any reports of the same type of thing going on, there may be a fix/updated driver. It could also be that your Dell troubleshooter is wrong and it is something else. Do you have any other cameras installed? There have been a lot of reports about this problem on this forum.

  • Fcpx 10.1.4 crashes when iPhone 4s is connected to iMac

When I connect my iPhone 4S running the latest iOS 8.3 is connected to my 2014 iMac 27 running Yosemite 10.10.2 Final Cut Pro X 10.1.4 crashes. If I do successfully connect the phone, FCPX crashes when I attempt to import video from the iPhone. I have never successfully imported anything from my iPhone to FCPX. It's kind of a drag to shut down FCPX to import or download video direct to the iMac HDD and then import to FCPX, but it does work. Any suggestions?

I still have the trial 10.0.3 download, but unforunately can't run it because it's expired.
There's another guy here that seems to be having similar issues importing AVCHD (same as my GH2).
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/18147371#18147371
I removed the problem media and was able to continue for awhile without it on my macbook air while I was away.  Now that I'm back home on my 2009 era mac mini I have since imported more footage and encoutering the same thing on this system (also, unfortunately updated to 10.0.4).  It was at a point where it'd crash everytime it opened.  After a few times it wouldn't crash on opening, but I found that if I scrolled up through the clips in the event viewer, as soon as one particular one started to appear it would crash.  The problem clips seem to probably be higher bit rate because they have more motion like steadicam or slider in front of moving trees.
There's stuff related to AVCHD in my crash reports.  I looked inside the app package and saw this file.  I compared it to the files inside the package from the trial and it's definately been updated.  I haven't experimented yet, but I thought about trying to copy the old AVCHD plugin to the new version and see if it can handle my footage better, but I don't know what else breaks if it's expecting access to new features or something.

  • T43 Freezes/Crashes when I Dock

I have a T43 with a type 2878 docking station. For quite a few years I have had an intermittent problem with the T43 "dying" when I dock it to the docking station. Sometimes when I snap the laptop into the dock, all lights (i.e., sleep, etc) go out and the machine is dead - I have to pull the battery to reset it.
This does not happen all the time. I have also tried docking without the laptop being asleep and I still get mixed results. I have wondered if there is a special technique needed to connect to the docking station - sometimes I do it right, sometimes not?
I have talked to tech support about this years ago and they sent me a new docking station - which didn't fix the problem. I talked to tech support again and they said they would send me another docking station which I never got. I called them again about it and they said they would send it but it might take a while because they were out of them. That was about 3 years ago.
Needless to say, I have put up with this issue for a while but sometimes it happens too often and frustrates me as it can corrupts files that might have been open at the time. I am up to date on all my Thinkpad drivers.
Does anyone else have this same issue or have an idea for a solution for me?
    Thanks so much!

  • ITunes 10.5 crashes when iPhone 4 plugged in

After my partition got corrupted last night (thanks 10.7.2 and FileVault!) I restored from a 1 month old backup. I updated to 10.7.2 and iTunes to 10.5. Now when I plug my iPhone 4 in (Running iOS 5 GM), it tells me I need to put the passcode in and unlock it first. So I do this and click the 'try again' button, but when I do that iTunes closes. If I open up iTunes with my iPhone already unlocked, it crashes. How can I fix this?
Edit: Just plugged it in on a Windows machine, it works fine, so it doesn't appear to be an issue with the phone.

Not related to the original question asked by the original poster and therefore unlikely to be addressed here. Start your own thread.
And I for one don't know what you mean by downloading "your" pics from the Store. I've never done this and have no idea what you are talking about.

  • PC crashes when Iphone connected

    Hello
For some time now, every time I plug my iphone into my laptop it causes a system crash. I've installed latest version of iTunes. It worked all fine when I first had my iphone and works fine when I plug my iphone into my work computer. But everytime into my laptop, crash. It is very very frustrating. I've tried plugging it in when off, plugging it in when on, makes no difference. As soon as it starts my iphone in itunes it crashes. What's causing this problem?
    Thanks

I had a similar problem - my iphone synced fine at first then started crashing the PC after a few days. After reading the reply above - good call Lawrence - I deleted the few photos I had taken on the camera roll and it works fine again. I still need to find which drivers to update but at least I can do everything now except use the camera. Thanks

  • PSE 6 - Downloader Crashes when iPhone connected

The Adobe Photo Downloader opens, detects my iPhone, see the photos, then a dialog pops up and says "Fatal Error - Adobe Photo Downloader has encountered a problem and needs to close. error code c0000005"
Don't take a lot of photos with the iPhone for obvious quality reasons, but annoying nonetheless as I do use the photo's gps data for tagging photos taken with my Canon.
Any ideas on getting the Downloader to not crash?

    Hi,
I also observed the same crash once. But, to my surprise, when I reconnected the phone to my system after a month or so, it detected the phone and downloaded the data without any crash.
Could you please share some info on crash as to if you had installed any custom applications and/or updated the firmware of the phone?
Also did you sync your contacts or setup mails when you last saw the crash?
    Thanks,
    Tarun

  • PC Crashes When I Dock iPod

This problem has just started for no apparent reason.
When I put the iPod into the cradle, the computer locks for a few seconds then I get a blue screen and the computer closes down.
Tried to do the reset and update but having to dock the computer means I can't. Have reinstalled iTunes and iPod Updater, no effect.
Have gone back to restore point when it all worked and same problem arises.
IPod is playing ok, just can't update it.
    Any suggestions?

    MESH Windows XP

    hi nics!
Also this problem is compounded by the fact that when I do attach the iPod to the computer after a short wait it will crash the computer.
(b abruptly shifts tack) let's concentrate on that one first.
are you getting a blue screen with that? if so, what text and numerical codes are you getting with it? ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES?
this reference has some background on the sorts of things i'm asking about:
    Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
if you're only seeing a flash of a blue screen, we could try the following technique to try to make it stick around for a bit longer:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.

  • IMessage, Mail crash when iPhone 5s rotates, iOS 8.0.2

Ever since the iOS 8 update, my iPhone 5s has become unstable: when the phone is rotated, sometimes the apps don't react at all, sometimes they react but in weird, broken ways, and sometimes they just crash outright. The problem is definitely linked to rotating the phone.
Turning off predictive text in iMessage seemed to help a little, but not much. Rebooting didn't fix it.
    What now?

    Hey Karrett,
Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like the iPhone wont connect to the iTunes Store. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

  • System crashes when iPhone tethered for internet (2011 i7 2.3Ghz)

    Hi,
Just wondering if anyone else has stumbled across this issue..
My MacBook Pro 15" 2.3Ghz i7 gives me constant grief when connected by cable to my iPhone 3GS for internet tethering.
Whenever it is connected in this way, it will run for anywhere between 3-10 minutes before coming to an abrupt halt with the multi-language "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the power button until it turns off, then press the power button again" message. Every time I submit a report upon reboot but it still keeps occuring.
I was hoping it would get fixed on the last system update, but it's just happened to me two nights running repeatedly. As a result, after 3 repeat issues on both nights I resorted to booting into my BootCamp Windows 7 partition and tethered via the iPhone there and all was fine (except for being stuck using windows again...)
I'm now back home and using my regular wifi internet connection and everything is just as it should be again in OS X.
Any clues as to what I could do to remedy the tethering/crashing issue?
    Cheers!

I am having the same exact same issue with my 3GS being tethered to my brand new macbook pro. No issues on wifi. It's really furstrating. Any clue how to resolve this?

  • Aperture crashes when iPhone gets attached

    Hi,
    just seeing the following:
    * latest Aperture on Mac OS X 10.5.4, with the latest iTunes
    * iPhone 3G
    * iPhone/iTunes sync pictures with Aperture (setting set in iTunes)
    * Aperture and iTunes are running
When I now connect my iPhone, Aperture crashes most of the time.
    Anybody seen this, too?
    Regards,
    Rainer Joswig

Yes, it periodically happens to me. It seems to happen when first woken from sleep - for me anyway. From the stack trace, it looks like aperture is trying to do something with a URL of some sort - perhaps the geo-tagging put into the 2.0 software. I'm going to file a bugreport and see what happens.

  • ITunes crashes when iPhone is plugged into computer

Ever since upgrading both iPhone software and iTunes iTunes shuts down when I plug my iPhone in to my computer. I have a 32gig G3S iPhone. iTunes runs fine and the phone works ok after a glitch or two this past week (lost phone connectivity Saturday and then black screened on Monday). However everytime I plug my iPhone into the USB port (direct connection) iTunes will give me the unexpected error message and need to shut down. I have followed the directions on how to completely uninstall iTunes and all related software (QuickTime bonjour etc) and still the same problem. I am running winXP Home and it's up to date.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Found my own solution.
Deleting Podcasts that I had downloaded using my wifi connection instead of iTunes.

  • Laptop Crash when iPhone 3Gs is connected

    Hi everyone,
I have a problem as per above..Details as per below:
    1. When i first connect my laptop and iPhone, it works well.. but soon after few days without any synchronizing(which means few days of iPhone usage) , my laptop immeadiately goes into blue screen when i connect my iPhone to my laptop. The same problem occur until i disconnect / pull the USB cable away.
    2. Thinking that this might be one off kind of problem, i reconnect after few hours and same things happen.
    3. I send my laptop for checking and format after that.
    4. I went back to Maxis Malaysia ( authorized iPhone 3G dealer in Malaysia ) to check and apparently all iPhone belongs to the tech guy cannot connect to this laptop. I was advised to check my drivers etc.
    5. Drivers all checked and updated.
    6. iPhone restored to factory setting via iTunes.
    7. Voila, i can connect my iPhone and laptop after that.
    8. 3 days into the-newly-restored-iPhone, the same problem occured again..
    9. i have already disable my webcam and removed the software needed to use the webcam as i read it in forum but yet, same problem happen..
Seriously, this has been getting on my nerve and i need advise from fellow iPhone users.. I'm not too expert on those tech / IT stuffs .. I only know basic .. Would be great if someone can help me through this.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year....

Hi, I have this problem with certain model of Acer Notebook.
The cause is due to the camera drivers conflict between iphone and the one install on the PC.
to resolve there are 2 ways
    1) remove the camera drivers from the PC
    2) empty your camera roll in your iphone.
    Hope this helps.

After installing upgrades for iPhoto, the system freezes when iPhoto starts to open after attaching my iTouch.  I held the OPTION/ALT and was able to select/create a new library, but no option to rebuild.

  • Mail crashes when opening POP account

    Hi,
I have 3 email accounts on my iPhone 3G: Exchange, Mac and POP. All worked well since the beginning, but today the email app crashes when I try to open the Inbox folder of my POP account. It also crashes when iphone wants to sync with the POP server - it jumpsback to home screen.
I haven't changed any of the settings so I cannot imagine what might be causing this.
It's a 16 Gb model with 4 Gb free space.
Thanks in advance for any hints, cheers,
    Aaron

Either force quite the Mail app (go into app and then press and HOLD the home button until it force quits out to home screen...just pushing and letting go doesn't quite the mail app...thus a force quite will make it reload...may just have memory issue that needs to be cleared).
If that doesn't work, reboot the whole phone. Press BOTH the Home and Lock buttons and keep holding. When it says Slide to turn off, DO NOT let go, keep holding. Keep holding until you see the Apple Logo, then you can let go.

I recently got an iphone5. Ever since I have downloaded my iphone pictures to my photo gallery on my PC, my computer crashes when i'm in photo gallery. Any suggestions? I also downloaded itunes as well as icloud when I got my iphone5.

No, your iPhone and your iPad should not appear in the finder.
I'm not sure what you mean about downloading photos with iPhoto being double handling, but you can download direct to a folder with Image Capture. Image Capture can also be used to delete photos from the Camera Roll on the iPhone or iPad (preferrably after they are downloaded).
You can remove the photos you synced from your phone with iTunes by syncing again with an empty folder, That will delete all the photos that were previously synced that way, replacing them with the contents of the empty folder (that is, nothing). This will not effect photos takes with the camera on your iPhone.
