PC does not recognize sound card
Hi,
I'm trying to install a Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI Express into a HP xw-4300 Workstation (Windows XP sp3), so far with little success.
I had an old Sound blaster PCI card in it, IIRC, a PCI card installed in this PC automatically disables the onboard sound card.
So far this is what I have tried,
Shut down PC, remove old card, install new card ,reboot, cancel the "Install new hardware", install drivers, reboot. No sound. I then run the X/Fi update and the associated programs, reboot, still no sound. I try to run any of the associated programs ans they each say there is no card found.
Try above process again but this time I chose to schedule an update and it says it recognizes the X/Fi card.
I then noticed the onboard card is again working, and figured this was my problem. I looked in the bios for a way to turn the onboard sound off and found nothing. After some research I found I needed to remove the drivers, So first I put the old SB card in and uninstalled the drivers for that card through Device Manager. Now that the PCI card was gone, the Realtek Drivers were accessible to be uninstalled.
Now I install the X/Fi card and reboot. I went back to the original installation as per Creative's manual and still nothing.
Reboot, This time when the "new Hardware" came up I ran it in hopes that it would connect the card to the already loaded drivers. Instead the new hardware found, appears to have been the onboard sound and loaded the drivers for it.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to disable the onboard and get this card to run?

Try this and see if it works.
With the card removed, go into Device Manager and DISABLE the drivers for the working audio device. Then power off the PC, install the new card and power up. You should not have any sound at this point. Now install the Creative software and reboot. Check the Creative web sites for updates.

Audigy FX Control Panel does not recognize my card
I have Windows 7 Pro, 16gb Ram, Intel i5-2400 processor. I just installed my new Blaster card and software two days ago.
When I click the Taskbar icon for the Audigy FX Control Panel, I get the message "The current selected audio device is disabled, not present, not supported by the application, or has unplugged jack connections".
When the Control Panel does open and I click on Menu and select Audio Device Selection, I get the message "There is no supported audio device available".
When I go to Control Panel>System>Device Manager>Sound, video and game controllers>Sound Blaster Auditgy FX>Properties it shows "This device is working properly."
Today, Windows Update included the following:
Creative - Audio Device - Sound Blaster Audio Controller
Installation date: 12/18/2014 1:17 PM

The simple fix is to uninstall the Sound Blaster software from the Control Panel and then re-install it that should fix the problem.

OK, so you don't understand my original post. I installed the card and software two days ago, 12/16/14. The problem was present at that time. Then today at 1:47pm, I installed the Windows update. The problem persists, that means I still have the problem. The problem exists BEFORE and AFTER Windows update. I did follow your suggestion and uninstall and re-install the Audigy FX software and STILL have the problem. -
Nokia 5610 does not recognize memory card
I have acquired a Nokia 1GB microSD memory card for Nokia 5610 d-1.
But the memory card is not recognized.
In Nokia 6303 the same memory card is recognized.
I have formatted them with this mobile phone.
Nevertheless, the 5610 (v10.00) does not recognize it.
I have taken out the memory card also several times and have started again.
What's wrong?anyone?

Lightroom 4/5 does not recognize memory cards anymore
I signed up for the Creative Cloud $10 PS/LR deal earlier this week. Previously I had LR 4 (and PSE). I'm a longtime LR user. The first time I used LR5 was today. The problem I describe started happening in LR4 as soon as I downloaded CC, before LR5 was even installed, and is continuing to happen in LR5. I have (and have always had) the option checked for the import dialog box to pop up when a memory card is detected. That is no longer happening as of the CC download. If I click on "import", it does show my memory card; the dialog box just does not automatically pop up. When the memory card is highlighted on the top left of the import dialog box, it states that there are no photos. This happens with all 5 of my memory cards, so I feel confident it is not a memory card issue. If I go further down on the left side of the import dialog box, I can click on the drop down arrow for my memory card and it will bring up the folder that is on the card (where the photos actually are). If I highlight this folder, the photos show up and I am able to import them. At times, Lightroom sees photos on the card that are already imported but does not recognize them as duplicates, but not always. I have searched for answers on this but have not found anything that pertains to my situation. Can anyone tell me how to get my import dialog box to automatically open again when I insert a memory card? Thank you.
ETA: I am using a Mac running OSX 10.8.5.The virtual keyword is classified as a "future reserved word". In the current AS3 language spec it does nothing, and can safely be removed.

Aperture does not recognize camera card.
Aperture does not see camera card iin card reader connected to a USB port, although I can see the card both in iPhoto and with Finder. When I plug it in it shows very briefly in Aperture and then dissapears. This is something new as I have used the software, card and card reader for a couple years and had no porblems. Aperture sees all the other components of the system, including external drives, but only briefly (1 second) the card reader.

If after reformatting the card you still have problems to see your camera in in Aperture you may have a problem with the "Preferences" file.
Remove the file "com.apple.Aperture.plist" from the "Preferences" folder in your User Library, as described in Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805; don't delete the file, just remove it to the Desktop, so you can put it back, if it does not help, for after removing the Preference file all settings will be reset to their default setting.

P.S. How do you delete the images from the card, if you do not format the card to erase them? It is not save to let any imaging software on your computer do that, that may corrupt the file system on the card. Your camera knows best how to delete the images. -

MacBook Pro now does not recognize USB card reader
My computer recently stopped recognizing my usb card reader. The usb port works fine with my iphone and ipod. The card reader works when plugged into a windows based machine. The problem is not related to OS 10.6 because I had the issue prior to upgrade. I must of updated something software related that is causing the problem. Anyone have any ideas?

We'll need to know exactly what you mean by this. Plug in the reader, without a card in it. Go to Apple Menu > About this Mac > More Info and click on USB in the left column of System Profiler. Do you see *Mass Storage Device* listed under one of the USB port entries in the right part of the window? If so, the reader is recognized. If not, it really isn't. In that case, reset the SMC in your MBP:

Droid Pro does not recognize sim card
All of a sudden today my Droid Pro, which I have had less than a year is not recognizing the sim card. It is up to date on software. I can still receive text messages as well as phone calls. One other thing it has started to do at the same exact time, is that my text message will freeze and I will have to force close or turn off my phone and restart. I can't get through a whole text. Is anyone else having this problem? I've had way too many problems with the Droid Pro and Verizon never seems to take care of it, so hopefully someone here can help me out.

I would like to assist you. Have you attempted to remove the sim and re-insert it? Has the sim been replaced before? Please let me know so I know what steps have been attempted. To address the text messaging concern I have a few questions as well. Have you cleared the keyboard cache and data under Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All>Keyboard? Have you ever complete a factory reset? Please advise. I would also like to provide a suggestion. Navigate to the Google Play Store (formerly known as Android Market) and search for Gingerbread Keyboard and download it. Once downloaded go to Settings>Language and Keyboard and enable the Gingerbread Keyboard and exit the settings. Enter the text message application and long press on an empty text field and choose the Gingerbread input method and test. Please respond with your results and the answers to the questions above. Bridge in CS5 does not recognize card reader
Help! Suddenly, my Bridge in Photoshop CS5 does not recognize my card reader. I have a HP Pavilion Elite HPE that has the card readers (for 15 different cards) built into it and all of a sudden it will not recognize the card reader drive. I have uninstalled CS5 and re-installed it thinking that if the path had been broken that it would be reestablished by the reinstallation, but that did not happen. I have checked the device manager on my HP and it tells tme that this drive is working correctly, but however, it is not evidently working correctly. Has anyone else had this happen to them and if so, what was the solution? I have an e-mail to HP for tech support, but have not heard from them as of yet. Thank you in advance for your input.
You want to at least choose the 1st, reset preferences.
Purging the cache can solve some problems, it will be rebuilt as you visit each folder.
Resetting Workspaces is probably not necessary unless you have display problems.
To view the files in Win. Exp. you have to open then navigate to the device where the card is being read.
If you can view the card in W Exp then the card works, and you can get photos in Bridge with File/get photos from camera.
If you do not get the auto load window when you stick the card in you will have to look at the autoload optons in the Op. Sys. Look in Help file for info. on where to look. -
HP Pavilion 500-C60 does not reconize XD card containing photos
My PC has a slot with an image suggesting an SD card (showing the top right corner cut off). However the number of internal contacts appears to be twice that needed by an SD card. Bottom line: no SD card fits in the slot but an XD card appears to have the exact number of connectors needed by an XD card. And indeed the XD card fits perfectly in the slot.
So far so goood.
Problem is that Windows 8.1 does not recognize the card. I have looked everywhere using Google but cannot find a solution.
Can anyone help?

It does not support XD card (or xD card) from Olympus cameras. You need a converter from xD to SD.

T4i not recognize any card. The camera is new and never took a picture because the camera does not recognize any card.
I tried to use a canon SD card and the card identification light lit but the camera does not read the card.

I was sorry to see that your EOS Rebel T4i isn't able to read these cards or perform formats. Since multiple different cards seem to have this issue I would recommend setting up a repair online to get the camera evaluated. I regret any inconvenience that this may cause you at this time.

Premiere Pro CS6 does not recognize the USB PnP Sound device in order to produce a commentary sound track. The USB device has been activated on the iMac OSX by using the Audio-MIDI-setup and is working correctly with the iMac. When opening > presets >audio hardware I can only select between >standard >out integrated > digital input integrated >microphone integrated. USB PnP is not indicated at this place.
With the built-in microphone of the iMac I can produce the commentary sound track, but I would prefer a stand alone version for better quality.
Your help is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Annemarie!I'm using a Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 (which has a microphone on the side). I have several other devices plugged into separate USB slots: a keyboard, a mouse, my iPhone, and a Roland keyboard midi controller.
I've considered that maybe the webcam/mic combo is the culprit. If USB doesn't work at a constant speed, that could very well be causing the issue! The sound begins to lag badly sometimes when it's working properly, so that there's a multisecond delay between speaking and hearing my voice repeated back over the mic which is another sign that something is wrong. I've also caught it making a strange electronic sound during its "hang" time once it stops taking sound input correctly.
Maybe I should try to use line-in and forgo USB altogether then. I think I'd need a preamp and some sort of converter for that since the Mac Mini lacks a powered mic jack. I'm only a newbie musician so I've never set up such a system but it might be a better solution in the long run.
I'll check to see if it hangs before or after my computer enters suspend mode, that's a good suggestion too. Thank you for your help! -

I went to the Genius Bar and we tried it in all the MacBook Pro's in the Apple Store and NONE could recognize the card. However, iMacs did. Any suggestions? Genius behind the Bar suggested wait for LION OS X release...

After capturing my footage, i open a new project then i convert all clips to anamorphic, to give me the letterbox effect, i have tried now with and without anamorphic.
In my canvas screen, the footage does not fill the square, even if i have not selected anamorphic, and fall well within the TV safe areas, but the only way to ill the canvas up is to crop it bigger, but still when i export it does not give me the full screen view.
Any ideas? -
Aperture does not recognize that there are images to be imported on an SD card. My workaround is to copy the images from the SD card to a folder and then import the images from the folder. Aperture also imports incredibly slowly after the update to 3.4
Check your Import settings in the Import Panel, i.e. all that might exclude the image type you want to import:
If you did not exclude any file types, and still Aperture will not import, remove your ImageCapture preferences fro your user library:
To remove the image capture preferences:
If Aperture is running, quit Aperture, and log off and on again.
Open your user library from the Finder's Go menu: Hit Command Shift G (⌘⇧G) and then type in: ~/Library/Preferences/ then hit return.
In the window that opens remove "com.apple.ImageCapture.plist"
and look into the subfolder "ByHost": if there are files named com.apple.ImageCapture something .plist remove them too.
then try again.
And if that still does not help, remove the Aperture preferences as well:
~/Library/Preferences/aperture.plist

P.S. in MacOS Lion and later the user library ~/Library is hidden by default.
You can reveal it also from the Finder's "Go" menu:
Finder > Go, then hold down the options ⌥ key, until the Library appears in the drop-down menu, select it and open the Library folder. Then go to the "Preferences".
