PC DVD players that can display chapter time elapsed

I have authored some screener discs with a bunch of episodes on one timeline. I have a chapter marker at each episode. I took for granted apple dvdplayer's ability to display chapter time elapsed, which is a feature that can be found on most set top players as well. The recipients of these screener need to provide some timecodes and on their pc's they can only get the continuous timecode from 00:00:00, which really causes a headache.
Anyone know of a PC software DVDplayer that allows you to view the elapsed time of the current chapter.
thanks,
ryan

The time display on DVD players shows the time elapsed in a title set not individual chapters.
The standard way to do this and more accurate is to create a timecode window dub with the time code filter in FCP before exporting.

    im making a photo slide show using imovie. how will i make a dvd copy that can play in both pc and dvd player.  i dont have an idvd anymore. m using a mbp early 2011 osx 10.8.5.
    after making the photo slide show, i clicked share>export movie.  after which i burned using toast. the file became a .mov.  i tried playing it in my mac and it worked. my fear now is will it also play in a regular dvd?... i read from google that mov files won't run in dvd players.  what format should i convert it to so it'll play in a dvd player.  can you suggest a faster way i can burn my projects for it takes me almost an hour to export.  im going to make 28 slideshows for my kids in school. *=( if i need to do this process 28 times, i may not be able to finish it on time.  please suggest a software or an alternative as to how i should do this... m more comfortable using imovie than iphoto.  thanks and i hope to hear from someone soon *=j

    Thank you QuickTimeKirk...used toast to burn project... my project was in .mov, i tried to play it a dvd player, it did play... will try again tomorrow using another dvd player just to be sure it'll will really work with dvd players.  thank you again for your reply *=)

  • Any calendar app that can display two calendars per day side by side?

    Is there any app that can display two calendars (data sync with iCloud Calendars) side by side?  e.g. one calendar for planning and the other for actual / diary.

    Calendar can have two or more calendars calendars listed at the same time.
    Each can be a different color for identifidation.
    The first screenshot shows that the Medical and Joint calendars are shared calendars.
    Will that work for you?

  • Is there a DVD creator that retains the chapter markers that have been denoted in iMovie project?

    Is there a DVD creator that retains the chapter markers that have been denoted in iMovie project and automatically link them to menu buttons?
    I understand that iDVD used to do this but it is no longer part of the iLife package on my new iMac. I dont want to buy a DVD creator where I have to recreat the chapter positions that i have spent so long positioning on the iMovie project.

    Only iDVD does this correctly, but Apple no longer want you to burn video DVDs.
    The current Apple thinking is that the entire world has access to fast broadband and wants to distribute home movies to friends and relatives via download (iCloud) rather than mailing them a DVD. The fact that in reality not all users do, has so far had no effect on this policy. If you scream and shout loudly enough down the phone Apple may send you a free copy of iDVD. That worked for some, but is now said to have been withdrawn by Apple. Also, you can complain bitterly here, perhaps suggesting that Apple could have provided a choice between using iCloud and burning DVDs:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
    Whilst Macs with a Superdrive continue to be able to burn video DVDs, the software for so doing, iDVD, is no longer included in the iLife bundle that comes with OS 10.7 Lion (which also omitted iWeb) or will come with OS 10.8 Mountain Lion. And it is no longer included in the iLife 11 from the online Apple Store: http://www.apple.com/ilife/. Your only solution is to look on Amazon or eBay and try to get an older version that includes iDVD.
    However, the vastly more expensive FCPX can burn a DVD without iDVD or DVD Studio Pro involvement, but lack the themes etc of iDVD. Also, of course, there is Roxio Toast.

  • Generic custom control that can display an image or swf?

    Hi,
    I want to create a custom control that can take an image or swf as an argument and display it in the same way.
    If the programmer uses this control (which essentially is a button with custom display) I want him to be able to just state the source and the text that is to be shown. Like this:
       <myControls:myButtonControl descriptionText="swf object" symbolObject="{Application.application.shape01swf}">
    or
       <myControls:myButtonControl descriptionText="img object" symbolObject="{Application.application.shape01img}">
    where shape01swf and shape01swf are embeded objects as follows:
       [Embed("../assets/swf/Shape01.swf")]
        public var shape01swf:Class;
       [Embed("../assets/images/Shape01img.jpg")]
       public var shape01img:Class;
    Which kind of object should I create in my custom control that can display this?
    Right now I have created a Class that extends VBox so that I can display the image/swf above the descriptionText.
    (I am using Flex 3.)

    Aha, so the Image control can use an swf as a source as well?
    I just assumed that it could not and I would have to use the SWFLoader to do it.
    So, this is my solution:
            override protected function createChildren():void{
                iconField = new Image();
                addChild(DisplayObject(iconField));
                textField = new Text();
                addChild(DisplayObject(textField));
                super.createChildren();
            private function init(e:Event):void{
                iconField.source = symbolObject;
                textField.text = descriptionText;
    Thanks!

  • Report that can display the installation date of an application or program

    Hi,
    Would like to ask if anyone knows a built-in report in SCCM 2012 that can display the installation date of an application or program, either it was through deployment with SCCM or through manual installation?
    Thanks in advance!

    Got this to give me the report that I wanted but eliminating some entry on the SQL Query that
    Peter van der Woude gave. Here's the Query I used to display the computer name, name of software, date of installation and day since installation of the software.
    SELECT TOP (100) PERCENT
    dbo.v_R_System.Name0,
    dbo.v_GS_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.DisplayName0,
    dbo.v_GS_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.InstallDate0,
    DATEDIFF(Day, CONVERT(date,dbo.v_GS_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.InstallDate0), GETDATE()) AS [days since installed]
    FROM
    dbo.v_R_System INNER JOIN
    dbo.v_GS_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS ON
    dbo.v_R_System.ResourceID = dbo.v_GS_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.ResourceID
    WHERE
    (SELECT ISDATE(dbo.v_GS_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.InstallDate0)) = 1
    GROUP BY
    dbo.v_R_System.Name0,
    dbo.v_GS_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.DisplayName0,
    dbo.v_GS_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.InstallDate0,
    DATEDIFF(Day, CONVERT(date,dbo.v_GS_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.InstallDate0), GETDATE())
    Thanks
    Peter van der Woude!

  • Hardware DVD players skipping past last chapter into second track.

    We are having trouble with hardware DVD players skipping past the last chapter marker and into the second track instead of returning to the menu. The only way we see to stop this is to disable the last chapter markers playback control/next program option. This will work to stop the jump to the next track but quickly cycling through the chapters will allow jumping to the next track.
    Thanks for your help.

    Welcome to the Boards
    Yeah sometimes you can blow through the disable depending on the player and how fast you press. One thing I have used is a second marker which also disables the UOPs so that there is two disables in a row which seems to stop most players from blowing through the stop.

  • Create HTML file that can display unicode (japanese) characters

    Hi,
    Product:           Java Web Application
    Operating system:     Windows NT/2000 server, Linux, FreeBSD
    Web Server:          IIS, Apache etc
    Application server:     Tomcat 3.2.4, JRun, WebLogic etc
    Database server:     MySQL 3.23.49, MS-SQL, Oracle etc
    Java Architecture:     JSP (presentation) + Java Bean (Business logic)
    Language:          English, Japanese, chinese, italian, arabic etc
    Through our java application we need to create HTML files that have to display unicode text. Our present works well with English and most of the european character set. But when we tried to create HTML files that will display unidoce text, say japanese, only ???? is getting displayed. Following is the code we have used. The out on the browser displays the japanese characters correctly. But the created file displays only ??? in place of japanese chars. Can anybody tell how can we do it?
    <%
    String s = request.getParameter( "txt1" );
    out.println("Orignial Text " + s);
    //for html output
    String f_str_content="";
    f_str_content = f_str_content +"<HTML><HEAD>";
    f_str_content = f_str_content +"<META content=\"text/html; charset=utf-8\" http-equiv=Content-Type></HEAD>";
    f_str_content = f_str_content +"<BODY> ";
    f_str_content = f_str_content +s;
    f_str_content = f_str_content +"</BODY></HTML>";
    f_str_content = new String(f_str_content.getBytes("8859_9"),"Shift_JIS");
    out.println("file = " + f_str_content);
              byte f_arr_c_buffer1[] = new byte[f_str_content.length()];
    f_str_content.getBytes(0,f_str_content.length(),f_arr_c_buffer1,0);
              f_arr_c_buffer1 = f_str_content.getBytes();
    FileOutputStream l_obj_fout; //file object
    //file object for html file
    File l_obj_f5 = new File("jap127.html");
    if(l_obj_f5.exists()) //for dir check
    l_obj_f5.delete();
    l_obj_f5.createNewFile();
    l_obj_fout = new FileOutputStream(l_obj_f5); //file output stream for writing
    for(int i = 0;i<f_arr_c_buffer1.length;i++ ) //for writing
    l_obj_fout.write(f_arr_c_buffer1);
    l_obj_fout.close();
    %>
    thanx.

    Try changing the charset attribute within the META tag from 'utf-8' to 'SHIFT_JIS' or 'utf-16'. One of those two ought to do the trick for you.
    Hope that helps,

  • Photo app that can display large EXIF caption field?

    A while ago I went in search of a photo app that could display captions along with my photos.  I didn't really need to do any serious editing of the photo.  I settled on Photo Manager Pro and I'm pretty happy with it except it can only display one line of caption (below the photo): about 100 characters.  Anything more than that is just cut off.  I tend to be pretty verbose in my captions and would like to be able to display 256 chars.  Is anyone aware of an iPad photo app that can do this?  The native Photos app doesn't permit captions, and iPhoto allows only a small caption.

    correction to previous: I meant IPTC caption field.

  • Does iDVD burn DVD's that can play in England?

    imac G4 flat screen   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

    Yes.
    Makes region-free DVDs.
    You can select PAL or NTSC. I understand most European DVD players can play either.

  • Is there a card that can display DVDSP to an NTSC Monitor

    I'm working on a Mac and would like to be able to view my Mpeg2 files and Menu on an NTSC external monitor. Is there a card on the market that can do this ??? Thanks

    i'm using a G5 but will be upgrading to a Macpro soon. I used to have the wired card along with Sonic Fusion then i upgraded to Sonic Creator and SD2000. The MediaPress Wired card is not very good, especially its preview card. I was hoping that a company like Aja or declink would make a driver so i can use their cards with DVDSP.
    I'm surprise this has not been a problem for most of you DVDSP users. I mean when creating menus, just using your computer monitor for preview is so innaccurate and checking your Mpeg2 files via computer monitor is not great either.

    The Oppo BDP-83 http://www.oppodigital.com/blu-ray-bdp-83/ since its Januaray firmware upgrade.  DLNA is an un-advertized feature and some flavors of h.264 support was added in the latest Beta firmware release.  From my experience, it seems quite tolerant of  (MP4 home) movies in a MKV container;  I haven't tried streaming Blu-Rays. Check out:
    http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?s=b912bb7489a6adb326ed42af8defc698&t=1215071 for other experiences.  When reading, keep in mind that the NMHxxx uses a TwonkyMedia server.
    The BDP-83 also streams hi-res photos of the 10 Mega pixel variety and mp3s quite well but does not handle 5 channel losses audio via DLNA _yet_.
    In addition to outstanding DVD and Blu-Ray playback, it also plays audio CDs, SACDs and BD-audio from disks.

  • Can you make a PDF that can display two languages?

    Hi, I have a need to display a PDF in two languages (I work in a hospital clinic). I want the computer to be able to display Spanish to the patient, and when the form is completed, turn the form back into English for printing so the output is readable by clerks (this form goes to people who aren't Spanish speaking for processing). I can provide both the Spanish and English versions of the form. Can this be done in real practice?
    thanks a lot guys

    Windows XP, Acrobat Pro 9.3.4, Office 2010
    Garcon's situation/request may be one where I'll be soon (I work for a medical center in a university setting), so this could be a useful thread. This Layers feature is new to me and sounds promising. However, my initial experience with implementing it has raised several usability issues (which may be due to my Acrobat version and my inexperience with this feature).
    First, you apparently can't import a foreign language (e.g., Esperanto) pdf as a layer into an English pdf and then set it so that you can only see Esperanto -- you can only toggle the Esperanto layer on or off with the English always on display. My work-around was to create a blank pdf and then import the English and Esperanto pdf file into layers. Then there's no way to set it with the default Acrobat controls so that if a user opens the file using Reader that only one of the layers is active (I don't know if it's possible with JavaScript).
    Second, if it's a multi-page document you will have to import each page separately for each language (some forms we translate into 7 different languages). That'll become tedious and also increases the risk for mistakes. Best approach here probably will be separate LanguageX/English files instead of one monster LanguageA/LanguageB/etc./English file.
    Finally, form fields can't be assigned/displayed by layer (using default Properties windows), nor will they import into a layer if your source pdf has form fields. Unless by some miracle the form fields all line up in the same spot (unlikely as one language we occassionlly translate into is Arabic), creating and positioning all the form fields may get tedious real quick. The sample form I was working with has almost 200 potential form fields across 3 pages.
    Any usability tips or links to using layers in forms will be appreciated.

  • Is there an app that runs on iMac that can display movies on an NAS drive as thumbnails? I have someone who cannot read but can select from pictures what they want to do or watch

    We have a person living with us who cannot read but can use our integrated AV systems with out TV's because it is all picture or thumbnail based
    For movies we have on a NAS drive I would like for the person to be able to connect to the NAS drive and choose a movie
    on the home AV system this is done using an interface that shows all the movies as a tile with a graphic, generally the DVD cover photo or similar
    I was hoping for something similar with the iMac
    thanks in anticipation

    The iPhoto app provides the capability to delete all the photos in the Camera Roll.
