Pc freezes during ipod sync
Help> My pc freezes up whenever I plug my Ipod in to sync up.
The only way to stop the freezing up is to actually shut-off the computer.
The mouse freezes. I have to unplug the computer to restart the computer.
I have tried this 5 times already. Any suggestions ?
Had that problem a long time ago, eventually I had to do a restore after the computer recognized it but i wound up letting the ipod sit for 2 weeks before i plugged it in again and it magically worked lol.

Since new MacBook Pro: iTunes freeze during iPhone sync
Hello
I know that there are already a lot of discussions going on about these but nothing works for me.
MacBook Pro mid 2012:
MacOS 10.8.5 ---> new clean install
iTunes 11.1.1 ---> new clean install
iPhone 3Gs:
iOS 6.1.3 ---> new clean install
The problem:
The problem started after a clean Mountain Lion install on a new MacBook Pro.
Updated all applications an system.
Copied iTunes folder to new MacBook Pro.
Connected iPhone to sync with new MacBook Pro.
And ...
iTunes freeze during iPhone sync for the first time in many years whitout problems.
Some apps in iPhone are partly installed because of freeze.
When i delete them they appear again during next sync and then iTunes freezes again.
What i already have tried:
# Clean iOS install --> again and again
# Recover from older back-up --> again and again
# New user
# New iTunes install
# Delete iTunes preferences and cache
# Delete all apps
# Reset permissions on the user in repair center
# select: "Prevent ..., iPhones, ... from syncing automatically"
---> but when i connect the iPhone it start syncing automatically???
# and so on, and so on
All the rest is working like a beauty!
Please help, getting down and losing al lot of time.
RegardsIt have taken me all day but it's solved!
During last sync on old MacBook Pro the new version of the iBook app was only synced partly.
That's why, when i was trying to sync on my new MacBook Pro, iTunes was freezing during sync.
Once i have synced my iPhone on the old MacBook Pro again, and iBook app was synced complete, this problem was fixed.

ITunes freezes when iPod syncs
Recently my iTunes freezes everytime my ipod syncs. I don't know the causes for it and when I try to add songs or videos it will freeze up everytime. Does anybody have a clue about this? My iPod is 4th generation iPod and I'm using a mac.
Thank you- Try a reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Try just backing up the iPod by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up. If successful then you can restore the iPod.
- Also try here:

- However, you say you have Windows 9, that maybe causing the problem. -

Hello all,
I am having more problems with my Ipod classic syncing on my new macbook than on the windows systems, which comes as a shock. I have restored the ipod more than once but the same problem occurs, when I add music over 24-25 Gb it starts to freeze - itunes won't respond I need to shut down .. after this the ipod works like normal.
here is the error report
it is pretty long, hoping someone can make sense of it

My system crashes often during an itunes sync with my ipod touch. It will just turn off my computer without any warning.
Has anyone else reported this? I am running windows vista home pro on a gateway 3.2gh dual core processor. Itunes is the only program that causes me trouble, any help would be appreciatedAfter many uninstalls and reinstalls itunes still wouldnt work.
i finally did a system restore back to when i updated itunes, then updated itunes again to the new version and it seemed to fix my problem. -

Itunes Freezing with iPod sync
Hi There,
So when I plug my iPod into the computer and load up itunes. I get prompted with a unauthorization of a few songs (due to an older itunes account; I merged with my girlfriend) Secondly, it then proceeds to update all the songs on my iPod(all 382 of them). When it gets to about number 56 it freezes.
I restored factory settings on the iPod, I unstalled (in the order listed in apple support, and then restalled the itunes.
Any ideas on how to fix this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.I have a similar problem with my iPod however the max I've ever got to is 8 songs. I've looked alot into this as it's really frustrating because my iPod was an Xmas present I was really excited about. I still have no solution to the problem however I have found out that it's not the iPod it's iTunes. Not much help I know, but it's something

Itunes crashes during ipod sync on windows xp after itunes update
Installed iTunes update 2 days ago on Windows XP computer. iTunes now crashes constantly when trying to sync iPod. Get a Data Execution Prevention message that shuts down iTunes. I've added an exception for iTunes in DEP, but it still happens every time I try to sync and a few times it's happened after I've started up iTunes and just tried to go to the iTunes store with no iPod connected. How can I overcome this problem?
Oh, and here's the Error Signature when it crashes:

ITunes keeps freezing during a sync with IPhone 3Gs?
I have repeated issue with ITunes syncing with my IPhone. It keeps freezing while backing up the data. I know there is an order to uninstall and reinstall the components of ITunes but I cannot find what it is. Can you help?
Check this thread out -> iTunes Crashes while selecting 'include video' in Sync Photos
Try unchecking the "Include Videos" option on the Photos tab in iTunes. You can workaround the issue by adding the videos to your iTunes library and syncing them along with movies and TV shows. -
Desktop software version 7.0.0.43 freezes during organizer sync
I upgraded my desktop software to version 7.0.0.43 yesterday and since then my sync freezes when I try to sync with my desktop. I never had problems previoisly. I'm running on Windows 7.
You have to downgrade.. This problem is common on other threads and the only solution so far is to un-install Version 7 and reinstall Version 6.. Its the only way I could get my 9700 to work and sync again.
butten there may be a new version of 7 coming that fixes this bug -
ITunes freezes while iPod is syncing
Got some new podcasts, started to sync the ipod.
I guess in the middle of syncing iTunes froze or something with the iPod messed up. It won't disconnect, iTunes stopped working and I can't even manually eject the pod using "safely remove hardware"
I had to shut down my pc in order to unplug the pod. In the meantime, this freeze during the syncing causes and subsequent shut down causes the iPod to erase itself.
I restored the pod and tried again but the same thing happened. Frozen during the syncing
any ideas? On Sunday, I put some newly downloaded music on my ipod and ejected it. I look on my ipod a few minutes later and it says that it is full but shows no songs, no movies, no pictures.
I restore it. It starts to sync and then freezes and gives me the error. I restore again. Same thing. I put it into disk mode. Same thing. I uninstall/reinstall itunes and restart my computer. Same thing.
I took the ipod to the genius bar at my local Apple store and they did all these tests on it and said it was fine and that it is probably a problem with my computer. I REFORMATTED my hard drive at home (On my PC, originally running Windows XP SP2) and I reinstalled XP and got SP3. I reinstalled iTunes and loaded up my library, which was on a separate hard drive. It loads and I hook the ipod up to sync. It freezes after about 33gb had transferred. I finally get it ejected and there is no music on it.
So I transferred my music library to an external drive and I formatted the ipod with my iBook (running Leopard) and it synced with the library on my hard drive there, but as soon as I tried to add the music that I had backed up on my external, it froze.
I restored and tried again. Same thing. So I brought it to work with me this morning. I restored it here (work computer is Windows XP) and it synced up with the library on my work computer. Again, I tried to add the files from my external and it froze. Could this be an issue with my music library being corrupt or is it an issue with iTunes 8.x.x or is it a problem with my ipod? We all have very similar problems and we aren't getting any answers. I've tried the 5 R's so what else is there to do? -
Ipod freezes during sync then error that it cant read file...
A little pre-info... I have owned a black 30gb 5th gen (video) Ipod for a couple of years now. I plug it in fine, my computer recognizes it fine, Itunes works fine with it... everything works great.
I just bought another Ipod off ebay that is exact as mine except white- auction states the Ipod works fine, seller has awesome feedback, etc.. I bought this for a gift for my sister for Christmas. It is second hand, so warranty is expired.
I plug it in the computer, and first tried to transfer some normal text data via explorer. I had put this same data on my own black Ipod with no issues, words fine. The white? Lo and behold I get that "Data Cycle Redundancy" error during copy. My experience is that that has always meant that the original file is messed up, not the destination its being copied too... but in this case I know the original file(s) were/are ok.
And the Ipod freezes. So I safely unplug, and try to hard reset it. It wouldnt for a bit, and I noticed the Ipod was rather warm (but this might be because it was frozen for several minutes with the backlight still on as well). Finally I get it to reset. Same stuff happens again, again its hard to reset.
So then I decide screw it, forget adding the stuff via explorer, Ill just try to get the music on my computer at least, over via Itunes, after I first restore the Ipod.
Itunes opens... recognizes the Ipod... I go to copy music, and it copies until it essentially 'freezes'. I tried many times - its not a bad file because the same file would copy the other times Id try. It would freeze on any random file, during the write process.
Then Itunes comes up with this error:
"the ipod cannot be synced. the required file cannot be found"
I dont think this is referring to my files trying to be copied, they werent deleted or moved from their location since importing into the Itunes library. Im wondering if theres a system type file on the Ipod that Itunes speaks to as it transfers...and when the Ipod freezes... hence it cant be found...
At the same time I get this error from Itunes, I get a Windows XP bubble pop up that says:
"Delayed Write Failed - Windows was unable to save all the data for the file x. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere."
Now again, my computer/windows is NOT the issue. Its the Ipod.
All the advice I have searched says to fix things on my computer. That includes that Apple support page in regards to those errors - it points the finger at my USB ports, etc - and thats simply not the case. If it was, my other Ipod wouldnt be working either - nor would my flash drives.
Its the white Ipod.
I saw one site suggest to format the Ipod via Windows first, then do the Itunes restore, but the Ipod froze and Windows couldnt format.
I went into Device Manager and compared the two Ipod settings, both share the same settings. They are not set on 'enable write cache'.
I have tested the HD via Diagnostics, and the BL blinked after the test, showing the HD passed... so right now I can only think of three things... a bad logic board perhaps, or the Ipod system files are corrupt somehow no matter how many times I do the restore... should I revert to an older update; is that even possible. Or the HD is bad after all and its just being missed in the test.
So now... I need help. Am I missing something important? Is it a simple fix... a corrupt file thats freezing the Ipod somewhere - or did I get a bad Ipod from the seller.
Its so close to Christmas, if there was some simple fix(instead of it being a bad HD) I could fix it myself, Id rather do that than go through the hassle of returns/refunds. Not to mention, its always a gamble how the seller will react. Will they help, or say its not a problem on their end and try to screw me... then Ill have to go through Paypal for reimbursement and that takes 90 days at least...I wish I had good news but all I have is information. I have access to 4 5th gen ipods. 2 black 30s and 1 white 30 and 1 black 80. The one white and one of the blacks work and have worked flawlessly for the past two years. The other black 30 and 80 started having the issue mentioned here some time after upgrading to iTunes 8. I tried to lowlevel format the iPod drive to fix any issues and that didn't cure the problem. I bought a MacBook a couple of months ago and restored my ipod to Mac format and low and behold it would accept files again! However it wouldn't let me fill the ipod beyond about halfway, this was on both ipods. Now the ipods have become slowly less and less fillable. Seems like syncing rather than putting the songs on manually seems to help, but again its getting worse all the time. (the two ipods that don't have any problems belong to my girls and the problem ones belong to my son and i) <- Grasping at straws I know, but my son and I are constantly changing the songs, playlists, videos and such.
When I bought my Mac the guys at the Apple store were shocked that I was having this problem and practically begged me to bring it in so they could see what it wrong with it. I will post an update when i do that. -
So since a few months my iPod is starting to get on my nerves. Everytime I try to sync it, my iTunes freezes during the "Determing Tracks to Sync" step. Most of the time it takes a few minutes and then it cancels the sync. I have to sync my ipod atleast 10 times a day to get a song or app on my iPod! One of the most anoyying things tough is, that all playcounts from my iPod sync to my iTunes every time I try to sync. Example: I play Poker Face on my iPod 5 times. I try to sync and my play count says 5 times on my PC. I sync my iPod again and it says 10 times now. It's so anoyying. I restored my iPod already. I removed iTunes and installed it again (And yeah, I deleted it the way Apple wants it). I called Apple and they said I can repair my iPod for 150€, but that's just so much. Any ideas on how to fix my iPod?
Thank youHello there,
And welcome to Apple Discussions.
Because you reformatted your computer, your iPod does not recognize the new library because it was synced with the older library you had before reformatting. In order to get the iPod working again, you will have to [Restore|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1339] the iPod via iTunes. Once you have completed that step, try re-syncing the music and see if that helps.

My ipod touch freezes during the backup portion of sync...help
Everytime I try to sync my ipod touch it freezes during the backup portion. Not sure what to do
Go to preferences, devices, and prevent it from syncing automatically.
Disable any and all security/antivirus programs on your computer, restart it, and try to sync it again.
They are most likely interfering with iTunes.
If this does not work, create another user for your computer (as an Administrator), and try to sync your ipod on that user.
