PC games on MacBook?

Can I install and play games made for PC on my MacBook? Or will I still have to buy Mac versions of the games? (Eg. The Sims 2 PC version vs. The Sims 2 Mac version). Thank you!

Pretty soon you will be able to just install Windows XP on your MacBook. Boot up XP and play your games!
You can already install XP on your Mac, but the video drivers (which are critical for games obviously) are not working yet.
There is a $1500 video driver contest by the way...

  • Asking: How to keep in-app purchase for game on Macbook Pro.

I played Virtual City Playground game on Macbook Pro. However, recently, this game is crashed. I want to re-install it. However, I bought some in-app purchases in it. Can I keep that purchases before re-install it? Do I have to pay again for in-app purchases which I'd already bought?
    Thanks

Where did you purchase from?  If from the App Store, post in its forum area.

  • What Games Have Macbook Users Been Able to Play on Their Systems?

I was wonderthing whether past or current Macbook owners might be kind enough to let me know what games they have been able to play under windows on their Macbook. Also, were the games run in parallels or bootcamp? I'm not interested in playing any of the extreme 3d games out there but I would be interested in knowing what type of games the Macbook is able to handle.

Civilisation 4, Total War Gold run fine under Bootcamp. Civ 3, Rise of Nations, Halo (demo) run Ok under OSX. Other users experiences here for Rosetta http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/PPC_Games and here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_gaming and the best list (IMHO) is here http://guides.macrumors.com/UniversalBinaryGames
Parallels does not support DirectX at the moment so that rules out most Windows games.

  • I want to get your opinion for Games on Macbook Pro

I want to install a game on my Macbook Pro, but I want to know if work correctly? Is there any chance the problem?

Look at the games specifications, then go under your Apple logo in the top left corner, you will see there the software version (under "About this Mac") as long as the version is above the required version and the game is designed for Apple products then it should work.

  • Games for macbook late 2007

I still use my macbook from late 2007.
Processor  2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory  2.5 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Graphics  Intel GMA X3100 144 MB
    Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)
I know the graphics on these machines suck. I just want some good multiplayer games for when i'm not home. I already play warcraft III on it and I love it. I don't care how old the game is. Are there any old school multiplayer games I could try and run?

Wow that looks like a cool site. I'll give it a try. The only thing is i'm not familiar enough with older graphics cards to decide if any of those games are worth buying. I'd have no idea how they'd run on my macbook considering it struggles to run dwarf fortress and warcraft III sometimes.

  • Good game for MacBook?

I know its kind of a vague qustion, but is there any game for the MacBook that runs really well, is fairly new and adicting? I know I'm being too broad here, but if anyone could point me in a good direction, that would help me out a bit. Thanks!

I have been playing "Hot Potato" with mine!
    HAHAHAHAHAHA sorry I couldn't resist.
WoW would be a very good game if you didn't mind the monthly subscription.

  • Java update for OS X 10.8.3 to run Pogo games on MacBook Pro

My wife purchased a 15" late 2011 MacBook Pro last year to replace her PC. She loves her Pogo games. Recently, everytime there is new OS update, the Pogo games won't work, needs Java. So we have to wait for a new Java update to resume playing her Pogo games. I read the Apple Support  about the Java threats and how serious they are to the Mac community. I understand but. What can you/we do to get this resolved to get the Apple approved Java update so I and many Pogo games users get to use Pogo games again and soon? Please help!

I went around and around with this last night and here's what I found…
Even with the latest version of Java installed, the plug-in is still disabled by default.  I could not figure out how to enable it via system preferences or Safari's preferences, but I knew it was indeed installed and working because I could use Java via Firefox with no problems.
Here is how I was able to enable the plug in.  Go to http://www.javatester.org/version.html  At the top of the page you will see "Inactive Plug-in" if Java is not enabled on your Mac. Click on the "Inactive Plug-In" and you will be prompted as to whether you want to run Java.  Click Run.  It will appear to hang up loading java with the loading "circle".  Refresh the browswer, select Run again, and voila!
Head on over to Pogo and enjoy!  If anyone figures out how to enable the plug-in via System Preferences or Safari directly, please post here...

  • Is it safe to download/play games on macbook pro?

My son wants to download and play games like the ones he plays on XBOX on the Macbook pro. Is it safe to do so? I am concerned about viruses mostly.
    Thanks!

Nope, you should be good to go. However, if you do need anything extra the game will inform you of what you specifically need - maybe an updated version of Flash or Microsoft Silverlight.
If it requests something be installed that sounds strange to you, you may want to google it just to double check. Don't hesitate to post on here if you run into any issues.

  • How to Download Games on MacBook Pro ?

Hey guys , I have a macbook pro and I wanted to see if I could play games like Call of Duty Ghosts and .. on it ... if I can how ?

Call of duty ghosts for PC is out on may 8th. Even then, you can't run it on a mac. Get bootcamp or parallels installed and then you can install the game.

  • Games in MacBook Pro 13" Retina

Will i be able to play games like Assassins, GTA 4, FIFA, Max Payne 3, NFS in a MacBook Retina Display 13"?

The 13-inch MacBook Pro will have problems with all of those games, if you can run them. That's because the 13-inch MacBook Pro has got an Intel HD Graphics 4000, an integrated graphic that won't work properly with games.
If you want to play games with the Mac, buy the 15-inch MacBook Pro (it has got a dedicated graphic card for games and heavy applications) or a PC, much cheaper and with a better performance for games

  • Playing Windows Games on MacBook with Windows 7/BootCamp

    Hey guys,
is it possible to play windows games on mac?
For example: I want to play Battlefield 3 and I installed Windows 7 with Boot Camp. Does it work?
I have the new Macbook Pro Retina 13" with 2,5 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 and Intel HD Graphics 4000 768 MB.
Its brand new and I just have a few programs on it. And i don't want to play that game in high end graphic in UHD or something like that.
    Could i play smooth?

To see early startup you want an Apple compliant card. To play games you may be fine or want something more, depends on game and what level of performance.
You install Apple drivers and all the normal Windows gpu and other drivers.
