PC is shutting down during video convers

I am using the video conversion software that came with the player, but having problems with it. Everything seems to be fine, I can start the conversion but after about 0% converted my PC automatically shuts down. I have tried it four times in a row now and getting a bit annoyed. Anyone experienced this sort of problem before?

Glad that I could help, as I encountered the same problems when I switched from iPod to Creative ZEN.
You might also be interested in increasing the volume of your player. I just did on all my ZENs as I listen to them a lot on walks and long car journeys and with the outside noise it was sometimes not possible to listen to my audiobooks. I followed the instructions on this site, i.e. you first have to download the US firmware from the US site to your computer, then open the relevant option on your player, erase the European firmware and load the US firmware. You know you have the US firmware installed when you check the digital clock on the face of the player. If it shows the US time, i.e. not the 24 hour time, but the 2-hour time with a.m. for morning and p.m. for afternoon, you have the US firmware and with it the increased sound volume. The scale still goes up to 25, but instead of having it on 4 or 5 for normal listening I now have it at 8, and it is a lot louder at 25. If you do not want the increased volume you can still download and reinstall the European firmware.
Enjoy!

  • Macbook Shuts Down During Video Playback

My computer has begun to shut down unexpectedly when I am watching a movie. I watch about 20-30 mins of a show/movie/other video and my computer will shut down completely, whether it is plugged in or not. My computer is an early 2008 macbook, 4.1, running osx lion. My battery condition is "replace soon" and my fan has gotten quite loud over the past year or so. Any ideas on how I might fix this problem? New Battery? New charger? Internatal cleaning?
Thank you very much to everyone.

    Hello,
I am having this very same issue. It shuts down during startup. I can boot into Windows, and using the Leopard startup disc, Disk Utility could not work any magic. I do not have a second Mac or access to one for any backup purposes. I have no idea what else to try, does anyone know something besides backing up through firewire, on how I can either save my computer's data or resurrect the drive? Thank you for your help.

  • Satellite A500-026 Overheats and shuts down during gaming

Hey guys, any help would be appreciated.
My 026 has recently started overheating and randomly shutting down during video games. I can't even run TF2 for more then an hour without it dying on me suddenly. It never used to do this for months of use.
I can only assume its a problem with my video card. I have tried downloading drivers from Toshibas site and the latest releases from Nvidia without change. I have already booked a MobileCare service, just wanted to gauge what possible problems could be.

    Hi
    Possibly its high temperature issue.
High temperature causes a shut down in order to protect the hardware from damage.
But the question is why the temperature increases to critical level?
One reason might be a graphic card driver from nvidia page. Such driver does not contain overheating protection. So you have to use the driver from Toshiba page.
    I see you did it
Well, the notebook seems to be a new one.so usually the dust should not be a problem and the fans should work properly
One tip; please ensure that you have enough free space around the notebook to ensure good air circulation...
However, I recommend asking a ASP in your country for an check maybe its hardware related issue.

  • Computer shuts down during render/prerender

This was not my original problem but it has occured before and I know it will occur again.
My computer shuts down for no reason when I try to render or prerender video in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. From what I can tell it is a general issue with premiere that I am having. I have tried multiple video formats, multiple video lengths, and multiple rendering options and I am still getting random shut downs during rendering.
Here are some specs for my computer which is a laptop:
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit OS)
Proccessor: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3.0 ghz
    Ram: 8 gigs of it
    Video: Nvidia Geforce 9600M GT
1 Hard Drive w/ 280 gb of space
As a recap.... My exact problem is that during the rendering or pre rendering proccess my computer simply shuts down as in it turns off.
I can also add that the computer does act strangely leading me to believe that theres some hardware or software incompatibility. While it is rendering I can hear the CPU fan pick up which is usually normal for any rendering application but what I noticed was that it doesnt stop speeding up. Its like if it was going into an overload and I can confirm that at its peak, the computer shuts down.
To add troubles... whenever I pre render any video and it succesfully renders.... Premeire will hang up really really bad if I try to play the pre rendered preview. In otherwords when you preview a video that it pre rendered it usually plays smooth and everything is fine. After I pre render something though and play it I can tell its locking up because the timeline bar is really jumpy and the video playback skips also.
This is the problem I would really love fixed. I usually have to button smash my keyboard until I lock premiere up and then once it unfreezes itself i can preview my work smoothly. This is however like a good 5 mins of my time trying to get the preview to play smoothly though so its really hurting how fast I can work.
If anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciate it. I will be trying to run the same stuff on my older laptop and observe the results. I personally think CS4 is incompatible with windows 7.

If you have a recent nVidia driver installed, you might want to check to see if you have either of these two modules loaded - check in the nVidia console:
PhysX, or 3D Stereovision. If you have them, definitely disable 3D Stereo, and test. If no improvement, disble PhysX and test.
Also, try adjusting your Hardware Acceleration. If Max, set to Min and test. If Min, set to Max and test. If either helps, try incrementing up, or down, until it no longer helps.
Last, check your OpenGL settings. If ON, turn OFF. If OFF, turn ON.
It appears that you have a laptop. Is that correct?
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • N200 shuts down during boot

    Dear Lenovo,
I have a problem with my N200 laptop. Notebook shuts down during boot. Sometimes it is immediately after "Lenovo screen", sometimes it is when Vista logo appears. I found out that this is always when notebook is "cold". It does't matter if I want to switch on my notebook or if I want to restore it from hibernation or sleep mode. Next thing is that it always crashes when fan starts work at full tilt (I checked the fan but it is clear). When notebook starts correctly then it works without problems. Usually I have to switch it on about three times then it is OK. This problem takes about 2 weeks. I have my laptop about 7 month. Do you have any ideas how to solve this problem?
And another thing - I forget to send registration card to Lenovo and now I am afraid that I will be without warranty. Can I send it still now?
Thank you for answer and sorry for my English.
    Gabi

Yes, problem with the video card sounds plausible! Any not so successful updates recently? It is sometimes to make a good uninstall, which is required to make a good install.
4in1 drivers should - esp. with W98 and ME - be installed while in SafeMode and with all autostarting programs disabled, for example Antivirus and utilities.
Else, since you have a damaged regedit, I would reinstall Windows. You might have done something for example an upgrade or new install the registry, not healthy, has made a note of. Some utilities also overwrite and change system files without good results.

  • IMac just shuts down during iDVD build

*4 week old 20 inch iMac just shuts down during iDVD build of a dvd. Its really weird, because it is rendering and encoding and all of a sudden it just shuts down without a know. Then when I turn it back on it ejects the blank dvd out and starts. I had my SuperDrive replaced also like 2 days ago from the apple store. I have pasted the system.log if that helps?*

most likely caused by overheating due to video encoding increasing cpu usage (system freezing and shutdowns is a problem with older intel imacs). monitor your internal temps using an app like istat. temporary workaround is to use an fan control app like imacfancontrol and increase the cpu fan speeds. but this does not actually fix the problem which may arise more periodically as the system gets older.

  • Re: Restoring windows after sudden shut down during updating

    Hi everyone,
Last night I was updating my windows on my Toshiba laptop, however, my laptop had a sudden shut down during the updating process.
Now when I start my laptop, I am prompted that a system error occurred and I have to insert my windows CD to continue. I never got a windows CD, and nor have I made a recovery disc yet, so is there any possible way for me to log into windows again? I am using windows Vista.
    Any suggestion would be grateful.
    Thanks in advance

    hi dDk,
what is the first rules of using a computer?
*never touch a running system* and of course: *read the f... manual* and *make backups often*
ok this was a bit hard... but this is a common failure to make an update without saving....
now lets see what we can do....
    - i assume that there is no possibility to start in safe mode...
    - hdd recovery is not possible...
    - you have neither a systemdisk of vista nor a system backup
now you are in operators hell....
    - see a servicepartner and ask for assistance, for a small fee he is able to setup your original system
    - get a vista/win7 istallation cd and install it, be aware you loose your hdd backup funktion!
    - try to repair with a "system-on-a-disc" like winpe or bartpe
    - try to make the hidden recovery partition visible to a os booted from cd and run recovery agent from there
if you killed your recovery partition.... bad luck

    Hmm, good luck then!
I'm pretty much exactly on the opposite side of the planet, but I've been to Vermont and remember its rural beauty well. However, I can't imagine you having the only Internet connection within a reasonable radius (where "neighbors" hanging off the same ISP don't count). Uh, that note only if your wired connection to the router produces no good result, either...

  • MacBook Will shut down during start up.

Why does my Mac book shut shut down during startup?

What to do if your Mac won’t boot up
    First, try resetting your SMC.

  • Mac Pro shuts down during sleep

My Pro sometimes shuts down during sleep.  Nothing will wake the machine and it it not accessible by another other computer on the network.  It has to be manually re-started using the button on the back of the computer.  There are no error messages on re-start.
I have reset the SMC and PRAM but it makes no difference.
    Any ideas?

Perhaps some third-party software that you had previously installed needs to be updated to be compatible with the latest OS X updates.
Perhaps some hardware component is experiencing problems; even the best hardware fails occasionally.

  • MacBook Shuts down during startup

My MacBook started acting slow the other day and then today when I started it up, it was in a constant lock up with a spinning pin wheel. No force quit commands or anything would work. So, I restarted it and now after the Grey screen with the Apple logo, the MacBook shuts down. The only thing I can get running is by holding C with the Leopard disc in there.
I tried to run Disk Utility from there but everything failed. I'm assuming I need a new hard drive? Is there anyway to save data from within the Leopard disc bootup? Maybe over a network?
    Thanks

    Hello,
I am having this very same issue.

I can only start my iBookG4 after deleting preferences. I have to go into single user mode to do so. If I don't go into single user mode, the computer shuts down during boot up. What might be the problem? How can I fix this?

I do not have a startup disk. I did try fsck (based on what I learned from your reply-thank you). This failed (fsck); here is the message:
    ** Checking catalog file.
        Invalid key length
    (4, 8198)
    ** Volume check failed.
/dev/rdisk03 (hfs) EXITED WITH SIGNAL 8.
I am sure this is an easy fix; I just have no clue how.

  • Phone shuts down during phone calls

Using a 3G phone, my husband's phone shuts down during a phone call. It doesn't seem to matter where he is or the other person's carrier. The phone comes back on after hitting the Home button a few times. Today it happened right in the middle of a short cal so length of call has no bearing.
    Any ideas?

It is possible. If a case does only partially cover a sensor, then sometimes it may not cover, or it may, especially if it slides around a little bit.
But with that said, there have been a lot of reports about 3G and dropping signal. Read just about any tech blog and you will see many posts about it, though no confirmation about a single cause (a lot of finger pointing).
I'd say try without a case for a bit to see if it continues. If not, then you know that was it. If still issues, then could be related to the issues being reported about 3G.
They are working on yet another update to try to help, but in meantime if still continues, there is a setting to turn off 3G and just use Edge. For phone calls difference between Edge and 3G really doesn't matter. Only when doing something online with the browser or an App that goes online, etc does 3G really help with speeds. So can also try turning off 3G and only turning it on when you need to go online with the phone. See if that helps with calls until update comes out.

  • Screen unpredictably shutting down during phone calls.

Anyone understand the logic behind when the screen shuts off during a phone call.
I'm using the keypad a fair bit and sometimes the screen will shut down during a call, hiding the keypad. I can shake it and it will come on again but then sometimes it goes away.
Sometimes it just stays up the entire call.
Sometimes it shuts off during the call.
If it shuts off during a call I can shake it to get the screen to come on.
Sometimes it just stays up for the rest of the call.
    Sometimes its shuts off again.
If it shutss off during a call I can shake it to get the screen to come on.
    Repeat...
Quite frustrating. How do I get it to stay up?
    Can I?

My iPhone does the same thing. When I make or receive a call the screen seems to do the opposite of what it should do. When I put the phone to my ear the screen activates, when I pull it away the screen locks. This causes me to press the touch screen when talking on the phone, buttons like mute and keypad.. highly frustrating. Also when I try to hang up, the screen locks preventing me to end the call.. have left numerous unintented voicemails due to this.
I have tried adjusting the auto-lock setting but this does not help and is up-to-date. Any ideas?
