PC, iTunes, iPod all Freeze when i connect ANY iPod.

I seem to have a problem connecting ipods to my computer.
When i try and connect an ipod to my computer (windows XP) the computer will lock up, cannot move mouse nothing.
I have tried this with an iPod Video, iPod Photo and iPod Mini, all do the same thing.
I have uninstalled the iPod software aswell an iTunes and updated all to new versions, still no luck. I have ran checks for spyware and virus's but still no luck.
What could be the problem?

  • Itunes 10.1 Freezes when i connect my 32GB iPhone 3GS

Ever Since i updated my iTunes this morning it freezes when i connect the phone. When i unplug it it comes back. There are times that when i re plug it after a bit it works. My phone was acting up so I decided to restore it. But then i get the same problem again so i couldn't restore from back up. I been trying to figure out the solution to this problem since 7 AM in the morning EST. I been looking around the forums for similar problems but it didn't help. I followed steps from apple on this page: http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/itunes/#section_7
That didn't help either. I been repeating all these steps plus more multiple times and nothing solved it. It just keeps freezing. I even Called out of work today just trying to Fix this dumb issue cause i can't be with out my phone PLEASE HELP!!

I'm not sure what's causing this, but it has just started happening to me too. It has been happening with both my iPhone 4 and my wife's iPhone 3GS, but more with the 3GS.
I thought rebooting the machine had fixed the problem, but it happened again this morning.
A workaround that has worked successfully for me is this:
With iTunes not running, plug in the phone. iTunes should then start on its own and start syncing properly. If it doesn't start automatically, start it manually (with the phone already plugged in) and the sync should start. But starting it first and then plugging in the phone doesn't seem to work.
    I'm running iTunes 10.1.2.17.
    Edit:
Okay, I think I just got lucky with the suggestion above to plug in the phone with iTunes not running. That's not working for me anymore. What does work pretty consistently (though not always) it starting or restarting iTunes manually after the plug has already been plugged in. This may mean killing it from the task manager if it's frozen, or waiting for the freezing to wear off (which it does eventually, even though it never recognizes the device or starts a sync).

  • ITunes 11.1 freezes when I connect my ipod Touch 5g w/ ios 7

I recently downloaded ios 7 for my ipod touch 5g. I didn't have a problem with ios 7 as I actually kind of liked it. However, when I tried to sync my music, itunes told me that i needed to download version 11.1 because it supports ios 7. I downloaded it and hooked my ipod up. Whenever I do this, it freezes/crashes my computer afeter about 10 seconds. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

    Hello rise92,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with iTunes 11.1 and your iPod touch.  I found an article with steps you can take if iTunes stops responding when you connect your iPod:
iTunes: May become unresponsive when connecting iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  • ITunes 10.5 freezing when I connect iPhone 4.

After updating to 10.5, iTunes now freezes on my Mac (running 10.7.1) when I connect my iPhone 4. (running 4.3.3)
It works fine when I have my iPad connected.
    I have to Force Quit.
I've tried rebooting the phone and computer, and also disabling auto-sync.

  • Itunes 7.7 freezes when I connect my ipod

I've wasted most of the day trying to get my itunes and ipod classic 80gb to function together. As soon as I connect my ipod to my computer, itunes freezes up. I'm using windows xp. Anyone else have this problem?

Just found this on another thread. I think I'll give it a try.
"I was able to fix this problem on my computer. First, I have Windows Vista, doubt it will make much of a difference though. It seems that the problem is with your playlist. I have read problems people are having and what seems to happen with most people is that after a certain matter of time their iTunes will begin responding again. That time also seems to be dependent on how many songs are in your library. Basically what I did was I backed up my playlist file (c:\users\YourUser\Music\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl, remember that is in Vista.) Then I deleted the playlist in that folder. I then opened iTunes and created a new playlist. After that my iPod would sync normally without delay. If you backed up your playlist (Export playlist in iTunes) you should be able to just import it back into iTunes by importing the iTunes Music Library.xml wherever you backed up your playlist to. I haven't tried that though. Best of luck and reply if that works for you please."

  • My itunes freezes when I connect my ipod....help!!

I have installed the new update (Windows 8 64 bit)  & my itunes freezes when I connect my ipod.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

"Connect to a computer. Use iTunes to restore."  When I connect to a computer, iTunes doesn't recognise it.  The iPod 5th Gen does not work at all. How do I fix my iPod without losing any data?
I have seen the Apple webpage suggesting the "five R's" (including restore).  Before doing anything, I want to be sure that restoring or any other action is not going to delete or risk my data.
I would be very grateful if anyone can suggest a fix for this problem, in a way that will not risk my data.
    Thanks in advance!

Did you try a hard reset with the iPod still connected to your PC?  Have you tried multiple USB ports, preferably high powered USB 2.0 ports?
To do a hard reset, first make sure the hold switch is in the Off position, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Have you also worked through each and every single troubleshooting suggestion in this Apple support document?

  • My ipod nano 3 freezes when i connect it to my pc?

my ipod nano 3 freezes when i connect it to my pc, i have to reset it so it gets recognised. this is abit annoying, so is their anyway to fix this problem ?
    PS:I have ipod nano 4gb G3

I have resolved this problem for me. I initially deleted and reinstalled iTunes and deleted any redundant programs which might have been creating a conflict (I have children who install all kinds of rubbish) Someone else had found a USB program conflict and I think my problem was around a conflict with the USB ports. I removed a printer connection which was (unusually) connected via a port next to the ipod connection and plugged the ipod in via a different port and bingo - all is well.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

  • I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes multiple times.  When I connect my iPod Classic I get the following message:  The software for this iPod is not installed correctly.  Please reinstall iTunes to install the required software.  Any ideas?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes multiple times.  When I connect my iPod Classic I get the following message:  The software for this iPod is not installed correctly.  Please reinstall iTunes to install the required software.  Any ideas?

Assuming you have windows, try uninstalling iTunes and all of its components as by following this guide exactly: Windows XP or Windows Vista/7, then reinstall iTunes.  You must follow this guide exactly or it will not be successful.  Note: uninstalling iTunes will only remove the application; it will not touch your iTunes library or data.

  • TS1363 My ipod will not turn on at all.  When I connect it to the laptop by the USB, it does not recognize it at all.  What could possibly be the problem?  The Nano was working like 30 minutes ago.

About 30 minutes ago, I was adding some music to the ipod Nano.  Everything was working fine.  Now, the ipod will not turn on at all.  When I connect it to the laptop with the USB, the computer does not even recognize it.  The screen has a fant image of the plug on it and it says connected.  I followed the procedures for disconnecting it when I was finished with it earlier.  Any idea what is going on here???
    Thanks

It probably needs to be reset. The procedure is different for different Nano models: http://www.apple.com/support/ipodnano/assistant/itunes/
