PC iweb published site appears pixelated

I am using both Mac and PC, and when I make an iweb website, it does not appear the same on firefox or explorer, when viewed on PC. Even when I select a simple font like Verdana, the font appears pixelated on the PC browser.
Can anyone please advise what if anything i can do to avoid this and other issues appearing on PC browsers

I remember that using a webpage the way you do, hiding it behind some masquerading page, causes difficulties on a Windows PC.
Why not properly use the domainname?

  • IE Scolling/Lag issues with IWeb Published Site

Has anyone had any issues with scrolling/lag with Internet Explorer on an iWeb published site? I have a site that runs great on Firefox and safari but terrible on Internet Explorer. I'm thinking it may be the template/design i used?
Anyone every seen this? Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    JC

I've only ever used the Modern Frame, so I can't say if there would be a performance issue using a different template. I have about three pictures on each page.
I noticed on your site that you're using the "reflection" effect on some of your pictures. Just for the purpose of testing, perhaps you could try turning off that effect and then re-uploading your site to see if that is causing some of the problem? I believe the reflection is rendered using javascript code, which may be causing the poor performance in IE. If that does turn out to be the problem, you can decide whether it's worth it to keep the effect or not.
By the way, I don't get that same error message in IE when I open your Videos page. Maybe it's caused by a security setting in your IE being set at a more restrictive level?

  • IWeb published site different than designed

I scrolled through numerous pages and was surprised I did not see this problem already described.
I design a simple (though long) page using iWeb. Text and images only. The images are embedded, but non are overlapping. It looks great as I am working on it in the iWeb window. I publish it to a folder on my laptop then view either by using "visit published site" or going to the directory and firing up the index.html. There are lots of problems - images have been moved, fonts are wrong (there looks to be a "format persistence" problem -- a type or size will continue for a few extra words. I edit, making sure the fonts are the ones I want and re-publish with the same poor results. Not very WYSIWYG at all! I'd try to edit the html code, taking the iWeb written stuff as a pretty good start, but it is not very pretty html.
So, at this point iWeb is a completely useless program! As many others are using it without this problem, there must be some solution. Anyone had this issue and found a way to fix it?
    thanks

What is the web address of the published site so we can see what you are referring to?
    While waiting for that:
A common reason why formatting on a published page will not match what you see in iWeb is that objects (pictures, movies, text boxes, etc.) are overlapping. When the web browser goes to try and interpret that overlap the results can vary (this can effect the display of fonts as well).
Go to the page in question in iWeb and click on 1 object. Go to Edit > Select All.
You will see all the objects on the page with their boundaries activated. Move any items that are overlapping so they have their own space around them.

  • How do I revert my iWeb published site (the actual published site in internet is up to date) the one on my repaired computer is old from a time machine back-up and out of date?

The question is above I repaired my hardrive and the iweb site is from an old time machine back-up. In the web my site is up to date and I want to update my computer stored iWeb site to the site in internet ?

You need to copy and paste the content from the published files back into iWeb and recreate any missing pages since iWeb has no import facility.

  • How can I edit my iweb published site when the domain file is empty?

How can I edit my iweb site when the domain file opens up empty? I have the site backed up in mobile me, on my computer, and on an external hard drive.
How can I transfer these files into iweb?

    Hi there,
To edit your site from one of your backed up versions, place the Domain file in User>Library>Application Support>iWeb & then launch iWeb. Update & publish.

First, you could look at this page for help in retrieving stuff......
    http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWebBackupretrieve.html
If you rebuild the site with the same name and publish it to MobileMe, you will overwrite the original or you can go to Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites and delete the website folder and the index.html file.

  • IWeb Publishes Site...

Then when visiting - the site is not updated to the version that was just "published." This is the first problem I have had with iWeb. I have published in the same manner time and time again without problem. What is going on?
    Specifically...
New blog entries are said to be published by iWeb - but the site does not have navigation for the new blogs. Very frustrating.

    Watch this thread:

    What localization are you running?

  • Every link shows a pop-up on iWeb published site.  Why?  Must it be so?

I've noticed that my very simple blog page shows pop-ups if I rest the cursor over the hyprelinks for just a brief moment. It's kind of annoying, because it shows my weak titles for the files and directories iWeb is using. Normal web pages don't do this, right? At least I'm not use to it. I mean, if you go to any of Apple's web pages and rest your cursor over a link, it doesn't show you the location of that link in a yellow pop-up window.
Is there something I can do to stop this with my iWeb created page? Could it just be a setting of my own in Safari (-doubt it).
I know, I know, iWeb is not supposed to be sophisticated - and there's lots of arguing back and forth about that.
I'd just like to hide the stuff under-the-hood. After all, that's what Apple is all about, right?
    Thanks.
-by the way - the site is here if you want to see what I'm talking about:
    http://web.mac.com/covalt/
    Quad-core 2.5 G5   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   30" Apple Cinema Display

Normal web pages do this, but with "normal" web pages, you're able to alter the text. Just as an example, hover over the "Ken Drake" link at the top of this article.
    http://www.keynoteuser.com/news/?p=103
In this case, it's giving you information you already know, but that's how it works. I could change that text to anything.
You could do the same to your pages, but you can't yet do so through the GUI, you'd have to change the page's code in your iDisk.

  • IWeb published site fails W3C validation

How come my simple iWeb site fails W3C CSS validation?

This was posted somewhere recently but I can't remember the details. I believe it had to do with an alt or title tag. Hopefully, this is a small matter that was overlooked and should be fixed with an update.
When using http://validator.w3.org on one of my sites, there's title where it expects alt. Just click the "Show Source" and "Verbose Output" buttons in order to see the errors in more detail.

  • Is there a way make an iWeb site appear on Google?

With other software I know you need code to do that. I was wondering if iBank had some other way to do it since it doesn’t let you add code to websites.

I use iWeb '09 for my company's site (www.inchwormdesign.com), and I have done everything mentioned here. All is good, but you need to do one more thing.
Download the free program called iWeb SEO Tool (http://www.ragesw.com/products/iweb-seo-tool.html), and do the following:
    1. from iWeb, publish site to folder on hardrive (i.e. user-sites-'your site')
    2. open up iWeb SEO Tool
    3. click on 'OPEN WEBSITE' from top left corner of program window
    4. select the entire site folder you published to, and click 'CHOOSE'
    5. now, all the files will appear on the left hand side of the program. You will need to select every .html page that is associated with your site (e.g. if you have a 'HOME' page, then you will have a folder called "HOME FILES" and you'll have just below or above called "HOME.html"). After you have selected a .html from the left, you simply fill in the info on the right side of the program.
    6. after you've finished all pages info, simply select 'PUBLISH', and fill out your FTP settings for your host (this should be the same info you use on iWeb's publishing attributes).
The most important information to fill is the Title Tags & Meta Tags. Be sure you take some time to thoroughly figure out your site's information. All this information is then picked up by Google's spiders and other search engines. The more and more your site pops up around the internet (i.e. visitors, blogs, links, etc.), the more these spiders will detect your tags and will therefore rank your site higher. A lot of this stuff is completely up to you, though. If you don't get visitors and you don't share and network your site, then your rank on search engines will not be very high.
Another very important thing about the iWeb SEO Tool:
    - say you want to make changes to your site and edit pages, etc. as everybody always does, how do you republish the site with all the same tags you added before? Once you've used iWeb SEO Tool, you'll never want to publish via iWeb again, because you'll lose all those very important tags. Luckily the iWeb SEO Tool allows you to do this pretty painlessly.
    1. make changes to site using iWeb
    2. publish site to folder (same folder as before)
    3. open iWeb SEO Tool
    4. open your website in same fashion as before
    5. when your site is loaded, select the button on the right pane called 'RE-APPLY SAVED TAGS'. This will apply all the same information for every page you did previously. If you add or subtract pages, you will have to do some tweaking, and add new information for new pages, but all pages that you've had before will have all the same information applied.
    6. publish site
This is pretty cool, and works really well. It's a perfect complement to iWeb, since iWeb has very limited control when it comes to Search Engine Optimization.
    Hope you find this helpful.
    Cheers,
    jeff

  • Photos and/or albums do not appear on the published site.

    Hi.
I have been trying to publish my site for ages without getting the photos to work.
I create the domain in Iweb => publish to folder => upload to server through Cyberduck. But the photos fail to appear on the published web page.
As I have had this problem now for several weeks, I have been reading on the forums daily to scout for any solutions. I have tried to open the webpages in the folder before uploading the files to the server, and the photos do not show up here either. Everything else looks normal as far as I can see.
So the problem is in Iweb, right?
I have also try to delete my domain and to build up completely new ones, but without any success. I have tried to delete the .plst folder in library and also repair the permissions in the disc tools, as recommended to many other users.
The server I am using is one.com. My Iweb version is up to date as by 9th of November.
I am very grateful for any suggestions or advice you might have.
    Thank you...:)
EDIT: I have tried several browsers (mainly Safari) as I know that FF3 have experienced some problems with Iweb. I have also reset settings in Safari, without any luck.

Hehe, that is what i experienced using the MobileMe trial.
Ok, I will dig deep into my computer software boxes and look for the discs that came with the computer.
Thank you for all your help, it is much appreciated

  • Restore published site to IWeb

I cannot seem to use Time Machine to restore my website to IWeb. One day the site disappeared and a very old version appeared instead. I have not published the newly appeared site.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If you can't find the domain.sites file or have a backup copy of it that contains your current published site then you'll have to start over from scratch. However, Chapter 2.3 on the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the existing image, audio and/or video files in the published site in the reconstruction of the site.
