PC keeps turning off randomly - not heat related

Hi all
Yesterday while I was using my pc, just surfing when the pc just switched itself off. I tried switching it back on but everything powered up for about 2 sec's then shut off again, it would keep doing this untill I powered it off from the PSU..
I have changed the cpu with a good one, tried changing graphics cards, changed memory, I have also tried the cpu in another 1155 board but the same thing happened there. I then thought that it must be the PSU, so I tried an old AMD board and everything worked fine.
PC SPECS
MSI P67A-GD65 REV3
lATEST bios AS OF Dec 2013
HD 7870
Windows 8.1
2x4GB CORSAIR MEMORY
i5 1155 Socket
OCZ ZT Series 650W PSU
There are no post beeps either.
The thing is I can't get the pc to boot into any screen.
At the minute I'm using an acient amd board and its so slow (glacial slow)
Any suggestions.

As you replaced anything but the board it seems it died. Try clearing cmos and running the board out of case on a non-conductive surface with just basic components.

  • IPhone 4 keeps turning off randomly.

Ever since I updated to iOS 5, my iPhone keeps turning off at random times. At first, it didn't happen too often, and I would be able to turn my phone back on without any problems. Now, it shuts off quite often to the point where I can barely use it. And very time I'd try to turn it back on, the Apple logo would appear like it's starting up normally and right when it's about to actually turn back on, it just shuts back off. The only time it's able to turn back on is if I plug it in. Any help/fixes to this problem? I tried doing hard resets, tried setting up the phone as new, deleted apps, etc...nothing has worked. Is anyone having the same problem??

  • My Macbook keeps turning off if not plugged in

macbook turns off if not plugged in

This is an indication that 1) the battery is not installed or 2) the battery is installed but dead.  It could also be that the battery connector has failed and needs to be replaced. If the battery connector is finished then the battery wouldn't receive the required power for recharging. Shut down the computer and remove the battery; when you install it into a similar  model MacBook, does it show as defunct or is it now charging? That is one test to isolate the connector problem; it is a relatively inexpensive repair. A replacement battery is about $150 new; however, you could find one on eBay or Craigslist or get a healthy battery from a computer being sold for parts.

  • My iPhone 4 turns off randomly not completely turn off

Pls help my iPhone 4 turns off randomly

Clean iPhone charging port with clean dry toothbrush. See if better. If not and there is warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation and take to Apple for resolution. If no Coverage, clean again with toothbrush and some Isopropyll Alcohol. See if better. If not you may need charging port assembly and/or battery replacement.

  • Verizon ONT keeps turning off randomly. I must manually reset each time, help!

As the title states, the ONT will randomly turn off, and in order for me to restore TV and internet, I have to unplug the ONT from the wall, unplug the battery backup, plug the battery backup in again, then plug the ONT into the wall.
I have had THREE technicians out this week, each stating they fixed the problem.  Alas, each time, a couple hours after they leave, the ONT shuts off again... it is driving me insane, and I am quickly losing my patience.  Has anyone experienced this before?  Anyone have any tips as to what I should tell the 4th tech to do in order to fix the problem?

Did you restore it as a new phone?
If so, and you're having this issue, best take it to an Apple store to be evaluated. They can test the battery to determine if it's gone bad.

  • MacBook Pro Turns off Randomly Only when logged in OSX 10.8.2

    Hi,
I have a 2010 Macbook pro with Mountain Lion 10.8.2. For a couple of weeks now, when its not plugged in to AC it turns off randomly, not at any specific battery%.
Things I have tried already that were not helpful:
    - System profiler battery: 374 cycles, Battery Status: Normal
    - SMC reset
    - Clean install of Mountain Lion without any Migraion of old System files (wanted to do this anyways before the problem arose)
    - Its does not seem to be a heating issue, has happened at low temperatures
What I have noticed is that if I either run the diagnostics at startup or enter to recovery mode, I can run the battery all the way to 0% (lasts a while) and this random swtiching off doesn't occur. It only happens when I am logged in to OSX. This makes me think its not a battery issue either.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click  Log in.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • MBP turning off randomly while on battery

So my MBP keeps turning off randomly while I'm using battery, first few times it happened I thought it had just got to hot and turned off because of that. But after it happend a few times i noticed that its not even hot to the touch. Its happening what ever i am doing even when I have very low cpu usage like listening to i tunes, or just watching a movie.
Any ideas what it could be?
Thanks for any help you guys can give.

I have the same problem. It is most likely the battery has become faulty or possibly damaged. Best to replace the battery or if you can call one of the genius' at the mac store.

when im on my ipod when i enter a app it randomly goes back to the home screen it aslo painfully slow
    i need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If it still occurs that indicates a hardware problem. Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • My ipod touch will not charge or register in itunes.  It keeps turning off and then showing the apple logo?

My ipod touch will not charge or register in itunes.  It keeps turning off and then shows the apple logo.  I have tried holding down the button and plugging it in.  It will show the red battery for a second and then turn off?  Any other suggestions?

I have checked for problems with the connections, but from what i can see with the naked eye, nothing appears abnormal. It is very strange, and very sudden. It just stopped in the middle of a charge. The apple store is my next step. I just wanted to see if anyone on here had some extremely eye-opening solution or check. thanks though!
I'm also within warranty, so it's not a huge problem.

You will have to try putting it in DFU mode and allowing it to update. Once it has begun, you can't stop it.

    1. Non volatile random access memory (NVRAM) is where the computer stores user's settings, like time and date, speaker volume, energy saver settings etc.
    2. Reseting NVRAM has no impact on anything on your hard drive, or anything else on the computer.
