Pc -- laptop music transfer-going to uni in 48 hrs,pls help!
Because I've got a new laptop I need to transfer the music stored on my PC to it. Ordinarily I would just use my iPod but its had to be sent off for repair, and problems with delivery mean it won't get until after I have left- hence me transferring it manually until my iPod is fwded to me by home. Crux of the matter is music files on my laptop are behaving very oddly!!!!!!
I'm saving my iTunes files onto a USB, then inserting that into the laptop, saving them onto a file on the laptop, and then using the 'Add' File to Library' option (under 'File' in iTunes)
But then when I remove the USB (which by this point has nothing on, because I have 'sent' its contents to a file on my laptop) I get an exclamation sign next to my music files i've just entered. when I select the option to search for them (after they haven't played) I can find them, and they do play- but I have to do this for every single song!!!
does anyone know why my iTunes is doing this or how I can remedy it????
many thanks for ANY help- I desperately need it as I'm leaving for uni very soon and really don't want to be without my beloved music files!

Hi, Jenny, and welcome to the Apple Discussions.
In iTunes, go to edit/prefs/advanced, then hit 'copy to itunes folder when adding to library.'
Then try again

As kb1951 states, unless this phone was purchased directly from Apple, it is not officially unlocked. In the US, only Apple sells officially unlocked iPhones. The message you got generally means your phone was hacked to unlock it...jailbroken...Apple's servers have detected such & are preventing your phone from activating...there's nothing wrong with the activation servers.
You'll need a sim card from the carrier your phone is locked to in order to activate it. If you don't know what carrier, you'll have to call AppleCare in the US to determine this info. Be aware, US carriers will not authorize official unlocking unless you are a customer that used the phone on their network. Thus, there is most likely no way for you to get this phone officially unlocked.

I can't imagine being foolish enough to update the iOS on their iDevice without making a backup of their data. Once the phone is back to factory settings, restore it from the backup you made right before you updated. -
When i disconnect my iPod 2nd Gen from my laptop, its display goes off and working freezes. Please help me.
The computer freezes? There may be something wrong with the USB port. If the laptop has more than one port, does this happen on any port? If you are disconnecting the shuffle cable from the computer, does it make any difference if you disconnect the shuffle at the other end of the cable first, then disconnect the cable from computer? Or if you currently disconnect the shuffle from cable first, try it the other way.
You may be able to work around this problem, if you get a self-powered USB hub. Something like this one

There are many choices, but be sure to get one that has its own power supply. You can leave the shuffle cable connected to the hub, and connect the shuffle to the hub, instead of directly to the computer. This may provide a "buffer" for whatever is causing your laptop to shut off when the shuffle is disconnected. Since the hub has its own power supply, it will not rely on the computer for power to re-charge the battery. -
I am going to buy a Mac desktop and want to know how to transfer all my purchases and uploaded music from my PC. I originally started using iTunes on my PC so it has everything I have ever purchased or uploaded from my own collection of music.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
First, when you are going to turn off or restart your Mac, you will see a box called "Reopen windows when logging back in" in the shutdown or restart window. Untick this box and see if the App Store opens automatically in the next startup.
If it starts, open System Preferences > Users and Groups > Login Items, and see if the App Store shows up. If so, remove it from this list -
Migration Assistant- Why didn't my pictures&music transfer?
I don't own an ethernet cable, so I decided that I would use my high-speed internet to transfer my documents, photos, and music from my (3-year)old Macbook to my new one. However, it took exactly 24 hours. Apparently, it took 24 hours to only transfer my documents folder (which only has about 100 text files that don't contain that much)
Besides the fact that it took so long, I found out that the user from my old computer was locked. I dragged the user into MY documents, and I was able to view my old documents. However, NONE of my pictures (I have around 11,000...) or my music (900 songs) were to be found, despite the insane amount of time it took to transfer.
*Why didn't my pictures and music transfer?*
*Is there and easier way to migrate your information that DOESN'T take a full day?*
Also, *how do I unlock the files* without doing the whole copying process again? For some reason the copying to MY documents allowed me to open them, but its going to be a hassle re-copying all my photos etc. once they've been transferred next time.katy652 wrote:

Get one. Better yet, if both Macs have FireWire ports, get a FireWire cable.
Or, if you have Time Machine backups or a "clone" of the old Mac on an external drive, transfer from it instead.
Then start over, but use +Setup Assistant+ this time. The problem with using the +Migration Assistant+ is that you end up with an extra user account. And sometimes the accounts transferred that way aren't recognized as the same ones, thus the permissions problems. -
Have backed up my I Tunes music on external device, downloaded Itune program on my new laptop, transfered from external device, but music wont play without external device plugged in, it askes to locate original file when i try to play music without external device plugged in, please can you help
It sounds like you restored the library in a way which has the library assoicated with the tracks on the external rather than the internal drive. Did you perhaps use iTunes to consolidate to that drive before the transfer and copy the library files over independently?
I have script called FindTracks that can usually repair broken links, alternatively I might be able to guide you through some steps that would make the library on the external drive work as a self contained unit, and having done that you should be able to copy the library files to the internal drive to repair that one. See make a split library portable for details.

I can't figure out how to get the music on my iPhone5s to shuffle. If I use the arrows to skip a song, it shuffles through a handful of the same songs then goes back to the song menu. Help please!
Un-sync all your music to remove it from the device, then restart (hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go). Now re-sync your music.

If the amount of the purchase is close to $21.07, then you need to take into account taxes may be added.

neither my ipad or ipod are being recognized by itunes so i can't transfer songs from itunes playlists to the two devices. this is new, as far as a week ago i transferred music from the computer to the ipod. can anyone help?

My laptop was stolen and I need to be able to connect my iPhone4 to the new laptop and transfer content (photos, mp3's, apps etc.) to the new laptop. I'm afraid to try a sync in case it deletes all the content off the iPhone. Any suggestions?
You should be importing all pics taken with the iphone to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera.

What determins order photos are transferred, my photos have been numbered and appear in the correct order on the laptop but transfer in a random order in some albums irrespective of title or date taken.
Can i alter any setting to ensure photos will transfer in a logical order to track the history of the events in any particular album folder.Thanks for this, I have checked the dates in case the camera settings had been lost unfortunatly in this instance all pics are dated in correct order but not transferred in date order, or date modified order, or is the date config based on US date atyle?
