PC locks up on starting CC apps

First noticed with Bridge CC now also with Photoshop CC since the more recent updates.
Appears to be scanning my disk.
About 30secs after starting Bridge, disk transfer light comes on continuous and PC then responds very slow.
Lasts about 4 minutes, thereafter PC operates normally.
No messages from Bridge during or after this scan.
Can find find no setting in preferences that controls this.
Purge of cache and camera raw cache have no effect.
Appears to be a Creative Cloud issue as this does not occur with CS6 version of Bridge.
I regard this as an extreemly serious fault as it renders my system unusable.
If no fix is forthcoming I will terminate my CC membership.
PC is running 64bit windows7.
Have just Photoshop and bridge installed via CC.
Lightroom does not show the symtom and was installed before joining CC.
Do not use Behance or store any files on-line.
On further investigation: note in Task manager that little disk activity is occurring.
The IO seems to be logged under I/O Other which suggests app may be performing some kind of system performance test.
Am assuming that Adobe engineers will know immediately from the design what the app is doing.
Note this happens in both Bridge and Photoshop and means both are locked and unusable for some 5 minutes.
As far as I am concerned this makes the apps absolutely useless.

Slowness when opening Bridge is a common issue.  Bridge seems to look for disks and folders and if it can not find it continues to look.  If one has Favorites on your network it can take 5 min. or so to end the search.  It can also cause a 10 second lag when using certain tasks.
A users solution to slowness "So I went in to the libraries and removed all the links that went to my laptop and skydrive and Bridge worked perfectly as would be expected on a new PC. So check your libraries. This might also explain why some people found that a new account solved the problem."

  • Unable to start essbase app

    Hi,
I'm having problems starting an essbase application. all the services are running, everything looks ok. But when trying to start the app or any of the databases of that app it gives an error ' unable to load database'
Version is 11.1.1.1 and it's on unix
Any help will be verymuch appreciated

    Hi,
Can you start other applications, if so then you might have an orphaned esssvr process.
If all the apps are stopped and you see a esssvr process running you will need to kill it.
    Cheers
    John

I updated to ios7 on my iphone 4 and now cant install apps and one app says waiting for 2 days now. Also it started ading apps from my wife's phone onto my phone even though we have separate apple ids.

We do not share an apple ID and her phone is now logged in with her account and I have since backed it up on itunes under her account as well. I have turned off automatic downloads on her phone but they still keep downloading. I delete one app and then another one just appears on the phone.

  • How can I start an app on OSX Mavericks without switching to it?

What's up to all my Appleheads!
I usually do my research (extensively if I'm particularly annoyed) regarding any of my Apple questions, but  I can't seem to find an answer to the following:
Let's say I'm working in a full screen app (e.g. - Safari) window/space and I bring up spotlight/dock/launchpad to initiate/open/start an app, how can I prevent Mavericks from automatically "pulling" me to the designated window where the app is loading? I would like to be able to continue working on whatever it is I'm working on while at the same time have my app of choice start up in the "background" without being brought to it while it's still starting up. I know I'm not the only person that finds this behavior annoying, as I've seen it phrased a number of ways, but this question in particular hasn't been addressed (that I can find).
    A little info:
    Early 2011 13" MBP
    8gb RAM
    500gb HDD
    OSX 10.9.4
P.S. I've already tried the 'When switching to an application, switch to a Space with open windows for that application' within Mission Control settings. This does not yield the result I am searching for.

  • Ssh X11 forwarding takes too long to start any app. remotely

    Hi,
I have a bizzare problem with %subject% for some time already.
Affected are all my Arch linux installations (all with: systemd, openbox (without Display Manager), and latest updates):
    1. home desktop (core 2 duo, 2.4GHz, 3GB RAM).
    2. one testing desktop in virtualbox on the desktop from prev. point.
    3. work laptop (Intel Core i5, 4GB RAM).
All of these are connected via cable to the same home network 100MB router (using openwrt on asus wl-500g).
Normal ssh transmissions, like entering commands, or transfer of data via scp (even large amount of data for testing purposes because of this) works quick like expected.
The problem is, that if I try to start app. remotely via ssh X forwarding from and to any of these (affected also bidirectional), it takes always aprox. 2 minutes to start the app.
Afterwards, it works fast and fine.
Doesn't change anything, whether the X server is running on the server's side or not.
Have been testing it with some lightweight apps too, but makes no difference if it's e.g. mousepad, gedit, thunderbird, always the same 2 min. delay at their start.
Also, some time ago, I had an older (more than 10 years) laptop, also with Arch installed, using LXDE, and connected via wifi to this same router, which worked perfectly without any delay. Also the same time ago, I was yet running Ubuntu on the home desktop, when I installed Arch to the virtualbox mentioned in point 2, and the problem was already present on the virtual pc, but not on the Ubuntu or the older laptop with Arch I had before.
Later, when I switched home desktop to Arch (or I got new laptop in the work), the issue appeared instantly on the new Arch installations.
The sshd configuration is the basic from the package, with X forwarding enabled of course, thus no strange changes of mine.
I monitored the ssh communications with tcpdump, not to read the encrypted data itself , but to see whether the data is flowing, and there are flow outages (absolute quiet except of below mentioned exceptions) in the mentioned 2 minutes duration till app. startup:
    - after ssh authentication, there is about 1 minute silence, when after this 1st minute some few data is flowing
    - next, there is another 1 minute silence, after which the app. finally starts
I've also gathered ssh debugging informations, from both, server (where I'm connecting and trying to start app. remotely) and client, with description when waiting has been detected.

It's quite strange, as I have no more ideas what to check next.
    Any ideas pls?
    thx in advance.

Have finally found a solution for this problem: http://serverfault.com/questions/490352 … w-to-start
Now the applications do start immediately via SSH X11 forwarding as expected.
    The following three lines helped:
    ip6tables -A INPUT -i lo -j ACCEPT
    ip6tables -A OUTPUT -o lo -j ACCEPT
    ip6tables -A FORWARD -i lo -o lo -j ACCEPT
While until now, all ip6 traffic has been forbidden (to drop all ip6 traffic) at the start of the system of course.
Nevertheless, I don't understand it, why the ip6 localhost has to be granted this way even if the /etc/ssh/sshd_config is configured for ip4 only "AddressFamily inet"?
I thought, that this way the sshd will be using ip4 protocol only (including for the X11 forwarding), then why does it still need the ip6?

  • How to use lock in amplifier start up kit?

    Hi,
I am now given a project which is Frustrated Total Internal Reflection (FTIR). Basically there is a lot of way to extract the information signal from IR sensor like DC approach, AC approach, transimpedance amplifier. I found that Lock In Amplifier is suitable for me to use in my project because the voltage across the IR receiver part will be small like mV and the noise will be high since the ambient light or sun light able to disturb the light wave emitted from IR emitter. Currently i download the NI lock in amplifier VI and i try to translate into DAQmx version. The VI can run but I am not sure that VI was translated correctly or not. Can just help me to check it out? Now I am using NI USB6366 to do the lock in amplifier as well. Here are some questions that i want to ask:
    1. From the NI lock-in amplifier start up kit user manual, for the configuration section on PAGE 13/20, I found that the first channel in the channel list should be used for the signal and the second channel in the list should be used as the reference input. I am confusing with this because i just able to create a channel for acquisition puspose and the channel is used to wire the input of DAQmx start.vi. May I know another channel where should i put?
    2. If USB 6366 able to use with lock in amplifier VI, how to acquire the signal from the IR receiver? I wire the A0+ to anode of IR emitter and A0- to cathode of IR receiver, is it correct? this wiring is used for the signal or the reference input?
    3. The generation of signal to IR emitter also can be done inside the lock in amplifier start up kit? As i saw the signal generator function inside there but I am not sure what the function is.
    4. lock in amplifier able to amplify my IR receiver's signal? or I need to build up a new circuit to amplify my signal then just feed it to the lock in amplifier VI?
Thanks for all the reply. Really need help on this. thanks
Attached will be my modified VI for NI lock in amplifier start up kit.

    Claudia,
    thanks for the version mentioned.
I would like to change the lock-In to one with a reference signal
instaed of PLL, and a few other changes.
I tried to understand how your sample works , but as soon as I'm
reaching the VI's on a deeper level I'm running into code protection.
Why are these VIs not public?
    Thanks
    Urs

  • Error when starting DPS App Builder - Application not found

    WTF folks.
This morning I open my document (CS5) and it says I have to update my folio tools (needless to say i hate it to be forced to do an update before I can start working).
Well, I do an update, both tools (Folio Builder and Producer Tools).
Now there seem to be some changes, I cant refresh my folio via menu anymore. When choosing the new "build app"-option I get an error :
"An error occured while starting DPS App Builder. The DPS App-Builder Application was not found" (translated).
German original version: "Beim Starten von DPS App Builder ist ein Fehler aufgetreten. Die DPS App Builder-Anwendung wurde nicht gefunden."
Any Solutions? Where to get the mysterious "App-Builder Application?"
edit: refresh is now only possible inside the folio it seems.

App Builder is nothing but a new name to Viewer Builder. Download it from DPS Dashbaord.

  • "Couldn't start this app" error when trying to open Action Items and any other built-in apps

    Hi all,
When I try to open the Action Items app within an email in OWA, I get the error seen in the screenshot. In Outlook 2013, the frame comes up with a 404 error.
    Third party apps load fine.
This is a new install of Exchange 2013 Enterprise with CU2. Everything else seems to be working fine. I have tried rebooting the server and disabling and re-enabling the apps with no luck. Can't seem to find anything in the Event Log about it.
Any ideas why this would happen and how to fix it?
"Something went wrong and we couldn't start this app"

    Hi,
Could you please check the IIS log and see what’s the error code?
Try using the administrator account to log in the Outlook and see if he can see the apps successfully.
    Thanks,
    Simon

  • Starting random apps and screen flicker when scrolling

My Touch 2G suddenly started to launch random apps without me touching the screen. Besides starting random apps the screen flickers when scrolling. Any body have experienced the same? It started about 1 month ago and I have always taken good care of it. I have tried every possible thing I can think of when it comes to software. Full restore, jailbreak, full restore, back to factory, back to earlier versions of IOS, but no luck. It is pretty persistent. I am sure it is hardware related and don't mind paying to have it fixed. I tried two repairshops already and they  were not able to recover the reason for the malfunction.  I wonder whether there is anybody who has experienced the same or even knows what is wrong?

    Hey Kimwaldal,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Sounds like the devices are opening things on their own. You may want to follow this article to make sure the screens are working correctly.

  • Can't start GTK apps on Kdemod

    Hi,
I'm very new to Arch, but I've managed to install some things I need so far. I did a FTP install and then installed x and kdemod, fixed screen resolution, installed nvidia driver, configured alsa. I think I want to stay on Arch, I really like it's speed and the package manager pacman.
Anyway I can't start GTK apps, currently I've Firefox, Seamonkey and Gparted installed but when I click on their shortcuts in K menu nothing happens, when I try to start in terminal I get
    gparted
    No protocol specified
    (gparted:7468): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0.0
    I have gtk2,glib2,gtkmm and kdemod-gtk-qt-engine installed.

    lo enabled?
    Don't know how to check.
    hostname in /etc/hosts?
    # /etc/hosts: static lookup table for host names
    #<ip-address> <hostname.domain.org> <hostname>

It's not really a problem, but you can copy your .Xauthority to give the same rights.
It is not a problem, and in fact, using kdesu is probably the safest way to do it. Starting apps as root in X is risky.

You will need a Mac, with OS X 10.6+ on it, to be able to develop iOS apps.

  • Starting mail.app in the faded out-mode???

I configuered my account to start mail.app faded out, but starting tiger, the main windows appears in the front. All other apps are okay.
I remember, I had this problem in an earlier version, but an update repaired it. Waiting and waiting for an update, but nothing happens.
Has anybody an idea, what I can change?
    Thanks
    iMac Intel 2.0   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

I mean "in the invisibel mode". The word fade out is wrong i think.
in the systempreferences for the user I can define, which program should loaded at start up. If I say: start iTunes invisibel, i do not appear, it is running in the background, but I do not see anything of the app.
Opening mail.app, the main window is visibel, it is not in the front. It is not possible to see the desktop.
In earlier versions it was possible to let mail.app run but do not see anything of the app.
Has anybody an idea? Thank you very much.

  • What is needed in a Mac Pro to start developing APPs?

I am looking for information on what Mac Pro (processor speed, memory, and storage capacity) is needed to start developing APPs.  In addition, I would like my Mac Pro be viable for the next three years as I learn how to use the system to build APPs and learn basic applications to build APPs as I anticipating changes in the iOS system and programs like Mountain Lion that could use more memory and storage capacity.  I am beginning this journey and like to know what system would best fit my needs as Apple continues to progress in their technologies.  What should I get in a Mac Pro with 8GB or 16GB, i5 or i7 processor, 256GB or 512GB storage, and 13 in. 2.8GHz or 15 in. 2.5 GHz?
    Thank You

You could buy a new MacBook Air every two years and still come out ahead of what a base Mac Pro costs.
A Mac Pro is not going to go out of style in 4 years.
laptops or their parts are not upgradeable and do tend to fail a bit more. And some of those systems limit you to 16GB RAM but they do have (slower) M.2 SSDs (400 or 700MB/sec vs 1200-1400MB/sec) SSD blades.
If you want to run lots of code and VMs then maybe by accident you are in the right place
