PC MAC library Media Path FLA

Hi,
I am one of a team of designers/coders and the team are a mix
of PC and Mac users. The Flash version we work in is 8.
We all take on each others Jobs from time to time and it's
becoming a problem when we need to update media in the Library as
the FLA can't find them. Is there a preference or system file that
we need to change etc etc? I know we can manually locate the files
but at present we are designing a JSFL that automatically updates,
sizes our media within the FLA and the path issue is causing a
problem.
We work off the same network and retrieve the FLA and media
files from the same server. We work with the files from there
created source and never move them.
Thanks in advance for any help on this issue.
Simon.

More information...
The issue is importing media on a Mac and then trying to
update them on a PC. If I import media on a PC and update on a Mac
then the Mac seems to be able to do it. The file path from the Mac
appears on the PC absolute. The file path from the PC appears on
the Mac relative. When I import on the PC it does appear absolute
on PC?!?!
I hope this is not too confusing!
Any ideas?
cheers Simon.

  • Extra Music Folder turns up unexpectedly in iTunes Media path

    Everything will seem just fine and suddenly a new Music Folder will show up in the path of my iTune library. My iTunes library preferences path looks like this /volumes/music library +(an external hard drive)/music/itunes/itunes media/music...+it is at this point that all of my music folders show up in finder. However within this list of music folder another Music Folder will show and some titles or portions of titles are transferred under this sub Music Folder again located among the artist folders. I have gone and transferred these files back into the proper position under the original Artist Folder following the original Music Folder. Sometimes it is only one or two songs that gets moved and sometimes an entire album. The path remains the same under preferences. I think it may have something to do with iTunes organizing the files but I do not know how to correct this. Help!

    I am totally confused. Once again an additional Music Folder has appeared in my iTunes Library path and some items have been transferred there. Again my path is /Volumes/Music Library/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music. At this point are the Artist Folders in alphabetical order. In the Artist Folders under the M's is again a folder Music and under that two Artist Folders, one Oscar Peterson which contains a single Album Folder (of which I have three OP albums) that contains 9 out of 10 songs. This is followed by a Doors folder containing a single album folder (of 6 albums I have) with a single song. In iTunes selecting that song and Get Info it shows the same path as above but with the extra /Music on the end. I am perplexed. I am dumbfounded as to the problem and what to do.

  • Change media path during installation of iTunes

    Hello,
    I'm trying to re-package the software. This seems to work fine beside some "glitches". One of it is that the media path per default is set to "Music\iTunes" which is - in this environment - included in the roaming part of the profile. So I was asked to "shift" the media path to the local part of the profile (non-roaming). Excluding "Music" from roaming seems to be no option here.
    Switching the location to another part of the profile gives me a headache as it's still "variable" (not like D:\iTunes or so). As far as I understood the path is stored in a file called "iTunes Library.itl" and this file seems to be not editable to me. Any idea how to 'tweak' the path into during the installation or may be during first startup of the program without user interaction?
    Kind regards
    János

    The iTunes Library.itl file is the library itself. I believe the location of the active library is stored in:
    <AppData>\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunesPrefs.xml
    under the key iTunes Library Location:1 however it is not stored in plain text so you may need to experiment a bit to find out whether you can simply copy over an existing iTunesPrefs.xml file that targets a fixed location like the root of a drive, e.g. D:\iTunes, as part of your distribution (yes, I note that you don't really want a fixed path) or if you can decipher the encoding scheme you could patch the xml file to a provide a customised path. Alternatively you ought to be able to reconfigure the user account such that <User's Music> is stored outside of the roaming profile before iTunes is installed. By default iTunes will create its initial library at <User's Music>\iTunes where it reads <User's Music> from the registry.
    Note also that the iTunes library doesn't function properly if placed at the end of a folder redirection, although this can, and probably should, be used to relocate any MobileSync\Backup folder as these too can grow quite large and you probably don't want them as part of a roaming profile, or on an SSD startup drive.

  • I transfered my purchases from my iphone to my mac. All transfers completed. One particular album shows up on the phone but the songs are greyed out and don't play. Itunes shows album as purchased but album is not in my Mac library.

    I transfered my purchases from my iphone to my mac. All transfers completed. One particular album shows up on the phone but the songs are greyed out and don't play. Itunes store shows album as purchased but album does not show up in my Mac library. How can I retrieve the album.

    So i've found the answer to this by clicking on every menu and setting in the itunes store. It turns out some purchases in the cloud can be hidden probably as the result of an interrupted transfer/sync/backup or a network outage. To unhide purchases 'greyed out ' items , go to the Itunes store (on the PC) click on your account name and select view account. (you'll be prompted for your itunes password) once you are in scroll down to the purchase history section. there should be an option for hidden purchases. click through and click on unhide purchases, redownloadble purchases. any hidden purchases will then show up. click on unhide to reactivate and download. This may only work for purchases in the cloud.
    hope others find this useful.

  • Using iTunes in Parallels Environment with Mac Library

    Is it possible, while running Windows XP in a Parallels environment on my Mac, to have the Windows version of iTunes access my music library located on my Mac hard drive in the normal position (~/Music/iTunes)? I've tried connecting the Windows version of iTunes to the Mac library but iTunes can not see or access the library in the Mac environment.
    Is this even possible?
    Thanks for any assistance with this question.
    Peter

    Well you're not alone in getting surprised by that Mac requirement. Apple has never much flinched about backward compatability. Their new OS's often leave the past completely behind, unlike Windows which tries to keep old things running through the updates (which isn't always a good thing, mind you). Apple's MO makes for a cleaner, more stable transition but it does force you to make decisions. Get the latest and abandon old programs, or soldier on with the old ways and forget about using anything new. I think you'll be glad you chose to upgrade. I just wish Apple (as well as Microsoft) would make these ultimately necessary upgrades cheaper!

  • Native package for Mac and relative path

    Hi,
    I done a small application with Javafx that start an Embedded Jetty. All works fine in Windows also with native package. Instead in Mac it works only before native packaging. Seems that the problem is how relative path are considered.
    The tree of the content is this:
    myfile.jar
    webapp (folder)
    libs (folder)
    Look at this code:
                    String webAppDir = "webapp";
                    File f = new File(webAppDir);
                    log.debug("Path webapp folder: " + f.getAbsolutePath());
                    if (!f.exists())
                        throw new Exception("The folder " + f.getAbsolutePath() + " doesn't exist");
                    if (!f.canRead())
                WebAppContext context = new WebAppContext();
                context.setContextPath("/myapp");
                context.setResourceBase("webapp");
                context.setDescriptor("WEB-INF" + File.separator + "web.xml");
                context.setSessionHandler(new SessionHandler(sessionManager));
                        throw new Exception("La cartella " + f.getAbsolutePath() + " non è leggibile");
    The problem is that before the packaging in Mac the relative path is that where the main .jar is located an so the code works because the webapp folder is found. Instead after the bundle the path became /Users/MyUser/webapp and of course the folder is not found because it is bundled inside the file.app near the libs folder.
    Someone can explain me if this behaviour is due to JavaFx packager and how I can solve the problem in a elegant way?
    Thanks very much

    Some good soul has any idea?
    Thanks

  • Backup Media path details

    Hi All,
    Please any one suggest me on how to set the backup media path in sap while using DB13.
    Regards,
    Reddy V

    Hi Reddy,
    In that case you will use BRBACKUP to trigger your backups.
    To call BRBACKUP from DB13, check the following link:

    BRBACKUP uses a initialization file or a parameter file with the name init<DBSID>.sap
    Check this link to know about init<DBSID>.sap

  • Iweb mp3 flash, media path problem

    Hi all,
    So I've spent several days trying to understand how to get iweb and any mp3 flash player to work together. I really think I have things put together correctly cept it still says 'file not found' when I press play on the media player.
    So this is what I've been doing.
    I copy over the html code, paste it in to an html snippet, put the .swf player on the page. Now depending on what player I'm using, sometimes they ask for a media path and some not. I'll explain the different methods I've tried in a sec.
    But here is where I think where the problem is. So I publish to mobile me, go to idisk>Web>Sites>MyWebPage and have put the mp3 in various different places after this point and nothing seems to work. I've tried
    idisk>Web>Sites>MyWebPage>song.mp3
    idisk>Web>Sites>song.mp3
    idisk>Web>Sites>MyWebPage>Media_files>song.mp3
    idisk>Web>Sites>MyWebPage>ThePage_Files>song.mp3
    And I do this all after I've published to mobile me of course, but silly me I also have done before, republished and of course the mp3 isn't there anymore.
    Now also depending on the player I'm trying I mess with the file path of the html code. trying both relative path:
    options.mediaPath = "song.mp3"
    and absolute path
    options.mediaPath = "https://public.me.com/mysite.com/song.mp3"
    And I'm pretty sure I've tried all the combinations of all this different methods.
    Any ideas? I've spent a lot of time really trying to solve this on my own but I do admit I'm still a newbie at iweb and flash, obviously.....
    Thanks guys and gals!

    From the browser perspective an URL to any file on MobileMe starts with :
    http://web.me.com/MMeUsername/
    So following your samples these are :
    http://web.me.com/MMeUsername/MyWebPage/song.mp3
    http://web.me.com/MMeUsername/song.mp3
    http://web.me.com/MMeUsername/MyWebPage/Media_files/song.mp3
    http://web.me.com/MMeUsername/MyWebPage/ThePage_Files/song.mp3
    If you're using a Flash player, keep all your stuff OUTSIDE the folder iWeb creates and INSIDE the folder with your Flashplayer.
    The URL will be :
    http://web.me.com/MMeUsername/FlashplayerFolder/etcetera....
    Then make it work. Once it does, display your player in a HTML Snippet with an <iframe>
    <iframe src="http://url.to.file.html" frameborder="0" width="500" height="500" scrolling="no" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>

  • Mac Mini - Media Center and Multiple HDTVs

    I am interested in using the Mac Mini as my Media Center and would like to have it output to 2 HDTV's. One in the family room and one in the bedroom for instance. However, I want to play different content at the same time on both TV's. What is the best way to accomplish this?
    2 Mac Minis - 1 for each TV?
    1 Mac Mini and an AppleTV - Networked?
    Software or Device that I am unaware of that could stream different content to different TVs simultaneously?
    Thanks for your help!
    JM

    All my itunes music and videos, Netflix Streaming, Hulu, Amazon VOD etc., over the air HD content, any of my stored photos, DVD's that are on my hard drives.
    That lets out the Apple TV, then, without hacking the box. Running a couple of Mac minis with third-party software such as Boxee might be an option.
    I want preferably one device that can access everything the internet has to provide as far as TV and Movies.
    Not possible since there are so many different providers and formats, but you can come close.
    I want it to also take my over the air signals from the rooftop HDTV antennae and act as a DVR.
    That would require a system such as the units from El Gato or Miglia.
    I then would like for it to be able to network to my air, iphone, etc. so that I can then access all of this content remotely from anywhere in the world or take it with me.
    For that you'd probably need a Slingbox, unless someone here knows of software that would do the same job.
    Then, if it could all be controlled by one remote.....perfect.
    That probably will take one of the higher-end AV control systems to be able to control multiple devices, particularly multiple computers, all stored in an AV closet, from a single remote.
    I hope this helps some. If you do a web search for "mac mini media center", you'll find a number of sites and articles from people who've been doing the same sort of thing you're talking about, though perhaps not in such a complex setup. Those experiences might be useful to you.
    Regards.

  • Workaround for remote with Apple TV + Mac Mini media server?

    We have to keep unplugging and then replugging our Apple TV 2 any time we want to use our Mac Mini media server instead of the Apple TV on our home entertainment system. Alas, the lack of a power button.
    The reason we have to do this is because the remote control signals are identical for the two units; we're using Plex TV on the Mac Mini, and when we use our universal remote, if the Apple TV is on, then unintended things happen in the background on the Apple TV any time we control the Plex media server. Ack. We could end up buying a video that we don't want.
    What workarounds are there, to avoid plugging and unplugging the Apple TV, if we want to keep using a remote control with both the Apple TV and with the Mac Mini media server? I understand that plugging and unplugging it is not desireable.
    On the other hand, we do shut off power completely to our entire entertainment system, via the power conditioner, when we're not using it, to conserve. I suppose that's equivalent to plugging and unplugging the Apple TV?
    Your thoughts?

    I know its been 17 months since anyone replied to your post, but I stumbled upon your request, because I had the same issue. However, I can faithfully say that I solved this same problem, because I inadvertendly programmed my MX-980 remote to control my Apple TV and Mac Mini at the same time and didn't realize until much later what was happening. I use my Mac Mini (for the purpose of using PLEX) and my Apple TV for other purposes. Here's a discussion I had over at remotecontrol.com about it.
    The solution for you is have two Apple remotes. You can buy an extra apple remote at a good price over at Amazon.
    Out of box, the apple remote is designed to pair with your Mac and Apple TV as long as pairing is enabled on those machines by default. However, it's the consumer's responsibility to physically pair that remote with the machine you want to control so it can't control any other machine. That's the trick you were missing...
    So, if you have an Apple TV and Mac Mini next to each other -- a single Apple Remote will control BOTH machines at the same time out of box. This is not the intended result as you have indicated. Therefore you need two apple remotes.
    Mac Mini: Once you have two apple remotes, go to your Mac Mini (OSX 10.9) and select under the Apple menu > Preferences > Security > General > Click unlock (bottom left corner) first > sign in > Then click Advanced... to see the Pairing process. If you click advanced *before* you click unlock icon, the pairing menu will be missing.
    Note: You can also install free CandleAir preference for your Mac which is a slick interface for configuring apple remotes faster and easier IMHO. http://www.iospirit.com/labs/candelair/
    Apple TV: Now take your second Apple Remote, go to Apple TV > Preferences > General > Remote and follow the on screen instructions to properly pair your remote control.
    This should solve your problem.

    Choose one or more Projects, and then use Export as New Library (from File).  The resulting export will be a fully functioning Aperture Library to either transfer and open on the Macbook Pro, or to Import into a library you already have on the MBP.

  • Instant client AIX library search paths

    If you use the AIX "dump -H" command against the various Instant Client libraries, you'll notice that some non-existant paths (from the original build) are included.
    For example:
    $ dump -H libclntsh.a
    shows a library search path of:
    /b/114/lib:/usr/lib:/lib
    This can create security problems, particulary with set-uid programs which link against such libraries.
    When you next build your AIX libraries, you may wish to use the "-bnolibpath" or perhaps an explicit "-blibpath" directive with the loader.
    Just a thought. Thanks for providing the Instant Client.

    Thanks for the report.
