PC needs two attempts to turn on

I'm starting the computer, everything sounds and looks fine, except my monitor keeps turning on and off, stating that it doesn't have input over the display port cable. When I reset the system via the button on my case, it boots correctly and the monitor turns on and behaves as usual.
Additional information:
Suspend to RAM and hibernate don't work. When I resume the system, the screen stays black until I force a reboot. There's nothing helpful in journalctl. Maybe this is related?
Nvidia 349.16-2
Linux 4.0-1 (any version after 3.18 didn't work, haven't tested before that)
UEFI boot
Any help is greatly appreciated, I'm not really sure where to look.

How could a faulty PSU manage to do this? I mean it reliably works the second time.
Same question basically for the graphics card. I mean why would it work the second time?
But if you're right, do you have any tips on debugging this? Any logs I could look into? Any tests I could do?
Reinserting the graphics card didn't work.
PS: The same setup used to work fine a couple of weeks ago on arch, I didn't change the UEFI, just updated a few times I guess. I tried downgrading Linux to no avail, not sure if the graphics driver has something to do with it. Could this possibly be related to the monitor being 4k and connected via displayport?

    Hi!  I just updated to Mountain Lion to make full use of iCloud and am attempting to turn on PhotoStream.  I have iPhoto '09, version 8.12, so I think I need to upgrade to iPhoto '11.  I'm reluctant to do this as I've read a ton of bad reviews written by people who have purchased the new version.  Any suggestions?  Is it worth it?

    Obviously only you can decide what is "worth it".  Millions and millions and millions of people use and like iPhoto '11.  Some don't. If you want PhotoStream then you must upgrade to the minimum software levels

  • MBP Requires Two Attempts To Startup

    My wife's MBP 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo OS 10.5.8 takes two attempts to startup at least 50% of the time. She thinks that the problem started around six months ago. It stalls at the white startup screen. Clicking the power button turns it off and then it invariably works fine the second time the power button is clicked.
    The MBP is not connected to any peripheral devices and I cannot associate the start of the problem with an update or software installation. The MBP is essentially identical to our 24" iMac in terms of installed programs and its configuration. The iMac occasionally has the same problem but it is much less frequent in nature, perhaps one out of every 50 times it is booted up.
    I could use some help diagnosing the source of the problem. If it may be a hardware-related problem I would like to know because the extended AppleCare warranty is up in October.

    I would just reinstall OS X as follows:
    How to Perform an Archive and Install
    An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
    Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
    Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
    If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

  • Need a mechanism for turning ON/OFF SOPs

    hi all,
    please help me in finding a solution::: the scenario is I have some 20
    classes and each has 2 methods and those methods has
    System.out.println(" some text "). i need a mechanism to turn ON/ OFF
    the SOPs to be printed in the console.
    I have two possible ways
    1. using javaw instead of java which will bypass the console.
    2. using an if condition
    for eg:[
    class A
    boolean a = false;
    if(false)
    System.out.println("some text");
    }but I need to have this IF condition check at each n every method is
    there any possibility that I can have only one check that can turn
    ON /OFF the SOPs
    or please help me with other alternatives.
    thanks in advance

    Or just use a small class rather than create your own PrintStream:public class Outputter {
        private static boolean enabled;
        public static void setEnabled(boolean b) {
            enabled = b;
        public static void println(String s) {
            if(enabled) System.out.println(s);
    }

    wanted to log in to icloud after i trried for two attempts and i reset my password andnow is saying the maximum number of free accounts have been activated on this iphone

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Unfortunately once all the 3 iCloud accounts have been created on your device, you cannot create any more regardless of what you do. You will need to re-use one of the accounts that you have already created or create your new account on another iOS device or Mac computer.

  • Can I allow two attempts and after the first attempt have a new window open to a url?

    I would like to allow the user two attempts to answer a question. However, after the first attempt, if they get it wrong, I would like a new window to open that takes them to a tutorial Web site we have, where they can find the answer. Then I would like them to be able to close that window and return to the question for the second attempt?
    Is this possible?
    Right now, I have designed a very clunky version of this. I have one question slide with one attempt and if they answer wrong, they go to the next slide, which has a button to the tutorial page. Then the same question slide is repeated, again with one attempt. In this same scenario, if the person got the question right the first time, they moved on to a new question slide. This works, but is bad for scoring and eliminates the possibility of using question pools and putting questions in random order.
    Thanks,
    Carrie

    100 feet would normally not be a problem......if the AirPorts have line-of-sight with each other......but if there are obstructions like walls, ceilings or furniture in the direct signal path between the AirPorts, little if any of the signal will even reach the extending AirPort.
    Try locating the extending AirPort at about 50-60 feet away to see if can pick up a stronger signal to extend.
    It would be much better if you connect the AirPorts using an Ethernet cable, as there is no signal loss in an Ethernet cable up to 300+ feet.

    I'm guessing you don't have Apple Care on it.

    IS MY IPOD DEAD?!?!?!?!?
    I think I have the previous iPod Classic with a black glossy front and I am pretty sure it is glass at the front. My problem is that the
    iPod does not turn on. Every time I attempt to turn it on it shows the Apple logo then a small icon showing a sad face with a
    warning sign along with the Apple support website. At the same time I can hear the internal mechanics which is also very loud. I have attempted
    to charge it as well as connecting it to itunes but no success. Could you please help?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Using the content aware move tool, I want to move an item from one image to another image but it does not seem to work. I think I need two layers on one document so how do I do this

    Good day!
    A simple Paste does not work for you?
    It should place the clipboard content as a new Layer which you can then move around.
    If there is any chance that the elements need to be scaled, rotated etc. I would prefer to place them as Smart Objects (File > Place …) and do the masking that is specific to the images themselves in those.

  • Need two different reports_path in AS 10g

    Hi,
    I have AS 10g with one Report-Service and
    I do need two different REPORT_PATH for Testing and Production.
    I set the different REPORTS_PATH=xxx into the different xxx.ENV ,
    but it doesn't work,
    the Reports_Path is setting from the registry REPORTS_PATH.
    what is a way to set reports_path dynamic ?
    do I need a REPORTS_CLASSPATH in the xxx.ENV
    or can I assign the REPORTS_PATH to rp2rro.pll ?
    Norbert

    Thank you,
    set the different env in reports-config works.
    But the next is:
    I do use RP2RRO library and a param_list to start the report with rwservlet :
    RP2RRO.RP2RRO_RUN_PRODUCT (REPORTS,p_ReportName, SYNCHRONOUS, RUNTIME, FILESYSTEM, pl_id, NULL);
    and would like to use this to give the report the env with the RP2RRO-Service rp2rroReportOther:
    RP2RRO.setOthers('ENVID=TEST');
    But it doesn't work, and I think the reason is, that RP2RRO.setOthers doesn't work
    with param_list : "You cannot use rp2rroReportOther with parameter lists"
    (rp2rro.pll version is from 2002 )
    what to do ?
    can I change the RP2RRO to set RP2RRO.setOthers('ENVID=TEST') WITH param_list ?
    Regards

    It can still connect to Wifi in Lost Mode. As long as you do not erase it, you will be able to track it via Find My iPhone. And even if you erase it, the Activation Lock will prevent the thief from ever being able to use it:

  • Why does the system need two average costs - 'Average' and 'Average Rates'?

    Hello Gurus!
    The documentation does give definitions for 'Average' and 'Average Rates' cost types, but at a very basic level.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/A60725_05/html/comnls/us/cst/settask.htm
    I would like to know why the system needs two costs? How are they calculated and how are they used?
    Thanks!

    Hello,
    I can suggest you a workaround that will help you keep only the 64-bit version of Photoshop.
    Visit "Uninstall a Program" in Windows 7 Control Panel and uninstall Photoshop completely.
    Visit this page and download trial version of Photoshop.
    Run the installer manually and choose the 64-bit version only (uncheck 32-bit version).
    Launch the product and specify your Adobe ID credentials.
    The product will switch to non-trial (i.e. full) mode when it recognizes your Adobe ID.
