PC Shutdown when Importing Songs

Since using the latest version of itunes, I have been unable to import tracks from CD's without my PC shutting down. Thers is no blue screen, error message or warning PC simply shutsdown as if it has been logged off or the plug has been pulled. Before using this version I had no problems importing as many CD's as I wanted back to back without problems.
Can anyone help, please??

Mark the album as a "Compilation" album - various artists, but one album.
Set the "Album Artist" field to "Various Artists" for all tracks, and check the "Part of a Compilation" flag.
See this document: Why aren't songs with the same album art grouped together

Generally setting a common Album Artist will fix things. For deeper problems see Grouping tracks into albums.

  • Duplication Problem when importing songs

When ever I try and import songs via the "import folder" option it seems that the songs always have doubles which I have to go through and delete manually. I also want to point out that I consolidate my library to copy all imported songs to another location. But is there anyway I can fix this problem?

the thing is, I have an external hard drive which I use for all of my songs/videos/pictures and stuff like that. So I have itunes automatically copy all songs to a specific folder on my external, that way after it imports I have everything organized in that specific folder. It doesnt always duplicate songs like that...but when I import 200 songs at a time and it copies half of them, thats still 100 songs I have to go back and manually delete.

  • When importing songs, a title listed at 6:38 will chow in itunes as being 28:00 Why? How can I fix this?

I was importing songs to my main playlist, when a song that is listed as 6:38 in my downloads file entered "28:00"...Why did it do this and how can I fix it??

It seems to be working now. I noticed it kept crashing on the same song so I just deleted the file and now it's processing the files. I guess the song was corrupted or something. So far so good...

  • ITunes not displaying 'copying files' when importing songs

When importing a large number of MP3 files, say an albums worth, iTunes refuses to display the 'copying files' progress bar at the top of the window. It is a process of trial and error clicking on the arrow to get the right progress bar to display, when and if I manage to get the appropriate progress bar up it will not stay for longer than a few milliseconds. Is this something I can fix or yet another sloppy bug in iTunes 7?

    Hi,
Welcome to the group. I'm not sure why hitting the arrow next to the box isn't working as mine always works. I have the latest version and haven't had a problem yet.
Not sure if this will help but here is a link you can check out:

Maybe someone else will have a solution.

  • Keeping the album songs order, when importing songs from different sources

    Hello
I imported lots of songs into my itunes library from various sources (itunes store, CD's, and audio files converted from my vinyl records) This way, songs from a specific artist, and sometimes from a specific album, could come from different sources.
Now, I hope to arrange all the songs from a specific album to appear in the appropriate order, but I just can't find a way of doing this! The songs just appear in the way iTunes sorts them, without any relation to the original order of the album. Even more, in the iPod itself, the order changes once again with no appearant reason! (Interestingly enough, when I import all the songs of a specific album from one source, the order is kept)
I tried changing the names on the files in itunes to include serial numbers (01, 02 and so on, at the names of the songs). but then again, for some reason, no order is kept.
How can I sort the songs in the album according to the proper order? I don't want to use a special playlist for each album.
Thank you in advance for your replies
    Zak.

iTunes sorts things in thew following way (based on having the correct ID3 tag info)
Album > Disc number > Track Number
if you sort things by Album
iTunes does NOT take anything from the file name unless no ID3 tag info is present in the file, then you will see the file name appear as the track name and all other fields blank. ID3 tags are the way most meta-data is handled noawadays.
    Hope that helps.

  • When importing songs from a cd into itunes, the songs get separated into multiple albums instead of one.  How do I fix this problem?

I recently tried to import a cd that I got into itunes.  When it imported, instead of being one album by one artist, it created multiple ablums by the same artist.  Does anyone know how to fix this problem to bring all the files into one album by the same artist?

Generally all you need to do is fill in an appropriate Album Artist. For more details see my article on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topic One album, too many covers.

  • Error Message when importing songs from CD

I am a newbie with a 30gb iPod video. I have been able to import multiple cd's to the iPod without any problem. I am now receiving the message "Some of the songs in the Itunes music library including the song "xxxx" were not copied to the iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod." I have searched around and can't find any reference to this message. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

  • Error when importing songs/effects into GarageBand

Whenever I try to import a song or iLife sound effect into garageband, it comes up with an error reading.
    Any ideas?

this may sound silly, since you've done these things, but in order try this
close the GB project first, then quit GB
    log out of your account
log back in, and repair permissions again
launch GB, and create another new project
after that, i'm not sure what else to suggest at the moment. i can't quite figure out what directory GB can't find if it's not the project itself, or a general permissions problem.

  • Plug-ins not available when importing song from Garageband

    Can anyone help?
Whilst on the move recently I found myself composing a piece using Garageband. However when I got back to the studio and attempted to open the song using Logic Pro 7.0.1 I get:
Core Audio: Plug-in "BassAmpSi" not available! then
Core Audio: Plug-in "Hybrid Bas" not available!
As these must be Garageband instruments I don't understand why they're "not available" or what to do to make them available.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks everybody!

Yeah! Had a bad experience with Tiger! My fault!
I Believed all the hype that I just had to update to Tiger as soon as it came out. So a multiple licence later and a day or so installing it all the computers in the studio I then find out that Pro-Tools wasn't compatible and had to back everything up and reformat my HD and re-install 10.3.9 which took about a year. I know it all works now (in theory) but with so much work on the go I'm shying off chancing it.
    One of these days!
    Thanks

  • Gray dots appear when importing songs

when i transfer songs from my music library to the shuffle, a: it takes a lot longer than it used to when adding or deleting songs to/from ipod's playlist, b: gray dots appear in the left hand column of the ipod's playlist between the number and the song title, c: the memory bar doesn't change to correspond to the song i've added or deleted. anyone know why this is happening?
    thanks. c h ad

Peeble is right; the small, non-spinning dot means the track hasn't yet been added to the iPod shuffle. See http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300505 for more details.

  • ITunes freezing when importing songs on MBP 15 in.

Hi everyone, I recently received my MacBook Pro and have since been adding all the files and music that I want on there. Anyway, for some reason, my iTunes has been having random problems importing some of my CDs. It will seem very slow at importing and then midway through on any given song, it will all of the sudden make this continous read noise and be stuck on the same data. So I don't know if this is an iTunes issue, my optical drive issue, or a firmware issue and any help would be greatly appreciated.

i have upgraded the RAM with Patriot, and have experienced these problems.
it seems like it only happens on the last song most of the time, and then i have to force quit itunes and wait a few minutes to eject (the superdrive doesnt realize immediately recognize that the drive is no longer in use).
i was hoping there was a fix in itunes 7, but to no avail.
has anyone tried a different program? i dont really know what all is available to macs on that end. also, once we find a solution (or apple does), any idea on how to import faster? it surprises me the speed that the MBP reads the cd. maybe im just selfish!

  • Audio problem when importing songs

Every time I import a CD into my iTunes, about 4 seconds into the first track the audio cuts out for a second or two. I've tried re-importing the CDs track-for-track and it still happens. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Rob

Hello, Robert, and welcome to the Discussions.
I'd suggest you try posting in the iTunes for Windows area. You'll be more likely to get a quick and accurate answer there than you will here in the iTunes for Macintosh forum.
    Good luck.
