Pc specification for desktop intelligence BOXI 3.0

Can anybody point me to an official document that has the PC specification for Desktop Iintelligence for BOXI 3.0?
Thanks Andrew

I have found the following document which is a bit light on information and clarity
BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.0 for Windows Supported Platforms
[https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/a03adc71-d63e-2b10-358d-e5f32c2043a1]
it has an entry for "Supported Operating Systems for Desktop Products" which says
"Windows XP SP2 Professional"
"Windows Vista (all 32-bit and 64-bit editions"
and various versions of Windows Server 2003
But the only section on hardware is entitled "Minimum Hardware Requirements for BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.0" and is therefore not obviously applicable to Desktop Inteligence.

  • Settings for Desktop Intelligence Report Server

    Hello,
can explain me te settings for the Desktop Intelligence Report Server.
Mainly the difference between "Minutes Before an idle connection is closed" and "Minutes Before an idle report job is closed". Shoud the have the same timeout ??
    thx
    Alex

    Hi,
The idle connection time out: Specifies the amount of time, in minutes, that the server waits for requests from an idle connection. Setting a value too low can cause a user's request to be closed prematurely. Setting a value too high can cause system resources to be consumed for longer than necessary.
so its fine its not necessary that both should be the same time. But by default both of them are 20 min.
    Thanks,
    SK.

  • Getting printer information for Desktop Intelligence (FullClient) object

After I query * from CI_INFOOBJECTS for a FullClient object, I am having problems accessing printer info:
    IFullClient deski = (IFullClient) obj;
    IFullClientPrinterOptions optPrint = deski.getFullClientPrinterOptions();
    integer copies = optPrint.getCopies();
raises an exception that SI_COPIES property does not exist.
    Please help.

There's a SDK method because you have to set it before you can get it.
I'm assuming you haven't set any printer options for those FullClient documents.
To see if printer setting has been set, check getFullClientPrinterOptions().isEnabled().  If false, then there's no guarantee any of the properties for the IFullClientPrinterOptions have been set.
It's different for Crystal Reports, since Crystal Reports are strongly tied to the printer against which the report was designed, so it's always there (or set to a virtual "No Printer").  Desktop Intelligence (FullClient) is not.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • Grant the right application value for desktop intelligence

    hi ,
Once i grant the right to an application value (e.g print document  set to grant) to a user/group on a specific application (Eg desktop intelligence) I will be still able to grant that right (e.g print) to one desktop intelligence document  but not the other desktop intelligence document.
    thank
    vissu

I don't think this is documented. You're best bet would be to get an app like filemon/regmon and filter out the installer to track where it writes to. It's more than a couple of directories and keys.

    Hi All,
Just got the BOXI  R2 installed but there's a strange and unique problem while logging as Admin.
With Administrator if I log into Designer, it works but for Desktop Intelligence, its giving licences problem.Below is an extract of the error,
"[repo_proxy 48] SessionFacade::checkLicenses - the current user hasn't got the rights to use this application"
Need less to say thanx in advance.

Hm, this looks like a more intersting problem... So first start excluding other than BO errors: The DeskI is some software running locally on the PC. You're sure, that Windows has the proper set of privileges set to run the DeskI, aren't you?So, consider yes. Then the DeskI starts and tries to attach the CMS. Is there some firewall between your PC and the CMS to be tunneled? If yes: Is this firewall configured appropriatly? If yes: You should be able to login to the CMS. If not, there should be an error message. Which error message do you find?Regards, Robert

  • Oracle Client requirement for BO XI 3.1 Desktop Intelligence

Will the BO XI3.1 Infoview or Desktop Intelligence work with Oracle 8i Client on the user's desktop? Or do they need to Oracle client versions 9i and greater.

    Hi
for Desktop Intelligence XI 3.1 the oldest officially supported version of Oracle is Oracle 9.2 over the native client (Oracle Net Client 9.2). What you can try though is to use the Oracle ODBC driver since Generic ODBC sources are also supported.

  • Desktop Intelligence XI 3.1 in 3-tier mode and a lot of Oracle sessions

    Hi All,
I wanted to set BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 for our customers (they use BOE XI R2 now).
But I met with some problem for Desktop Intelligence in 3-tier mode (ZABO formerly).
    Configuration:
BO Server: BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1
BO Client: Desktop Intelligence version 12.1.0.882
BOE Connection Server: version 12.1.0.882 (2.0.0.29)
Product database (Data Warehouse): Oracle Server 10g
    Database client: Oracle Client 10.2.0.1
Connection type: http (J2EE Portal) u2013 Tomcat
Customer DI Documents contain 10 queries on average.
    Problem:
ConnectionServer create a session in Oracle FOR EACH QUERY from Desktop Intelligence document and BY EACH REFRESH.
    e.g.:
30 users loaded any reports simultaneously and refresh theirs:
    30 users * 10 queries (per 1 doc on average) = 301 Oracle sessions !!! (300 for queries and 1 for connection)
    second refresh: 301 + 300 = 601 Oracle sessions
    third refresh: 601 + 300 = 901 Oracle sessions
etc. while Oracle server is not down.
    For DI doc in 2-tier mode (client-server) u2013 only 1 sessionu2026
    Thanks.

Look at the XI3.0 migration guide on that site.
From page 333 onward some good info on the subject of calc. engine changes.

  • I have never used my mac for desktop publishing before and am having some problems.  This sounds really dumb, but I can't figure out how to put a border around a text box.  Also, how do you edit the border, i.e. border color, thickness, etc. Help!

I have never used my mac for desktop publishing before and am running into some real problems.  How do you put a border around a text box?  Can you edit the border - color, thickness, etc.?  Help!

I think the best solution is to read Pages documentation, go to Help and you have a long list of options. Pages is capable of quite sophisticated things, some features are above Nisus or Mellel, so it is not so simple to summarize things in a few lines.

  • BI XI R2 Desktop Intelligence

How do you send a document to another user from within Desktop Intelligence?  The Send To > Users option that used to be on the File list in previous versions is not there any more.
The help file section on 'sending document to users' is a description of how to use folders and categories but contains no instructions on how to send a document.  The section on 'sending to groups of users' instructs you to click 'List' and then selec the group(s) you want, but there are no instructions as to how you get to the point of selecting List!  There is a note underneath that says "This option is only available when you previously selected the Send To then Users on the File menu" but as there is no Send To option on the file list!

    here you go,
To send documents to users and groups from Desktop Intelligence:
    1. Click File > Send To > Users.
    2. In the Send documents to users box, click Browse, and then locate and
add the document you want to send.
The document appears in the Document(s) to Send list. If a document
was already open in Desktop Intelligence, it appears by default.
    3. In the "Send documents to users" box, click To.
    4. In the "Select Users and Groups" box, click Groups to see groups of
users or Users to see individual users.
You can refresh the list by clicking Refresh.
    5. Select one or more in the list.
    Use Ctrl+click for multiple selection.
    6. Click Add to add your selection to the Document Recipients list.
You can choose an option, Groups or Users, add users to the Document
Recipients, and then do the same with the other option.
    7. To remove users or groups from the Document Recipients list, select
    them and click Remove.
    8. Click OK.
The selected documents are sent to the Business Objects inbox of the
    document recipients.
    Hope it helps you.

  • Flash CC Publish Air for Desktop for Windows from a Mac?

I've been trying to figure out how to publish my game for windows and it is driving me nuts. On the adobe help page it says there should be a checkbox right below the "output as" boxes. It should say "Windows InstallerSelect this option to compile a native, platform specific Windows installer (.exe) instead of a platform-independent AIR installer (.air)." On my publish settings however, this is missing. Does anyone know how I can publish a windows .exe from Flash CC on my mac?

    Hi,
Air for Desktop settings are platfrom specific , you couldn't publish the Windows.exe from MAC , you can publish the windows installer from windows machine .
    Thanks!

  • Publishing Many Desktop Intelligence Documents at Once to BOE XI R3.1

We are currently planning for and close to an upgrade of our XI R2 environment to XI R3.1
When we deploy the new client tools to each users desktop we would like to place their local UserDocs folder contents into BOE first for backup and conversion reasons.
It doesn't look like we can accomplish this using the publisher or import wizards.  Unfortunately neither look to have the capability of pointing directly to a folder such as UserDocs on a user's machine and pushing the desktop intelligence (.rep) files to BOE.
Desktop Intelligence allows you to export documents to BOE but choosing them is cumbersome.  Instead of allowing for multiple selections at once....each document must be added to the export one at a time.
Is there any method/tool that exists for doing this more efficiently than desktop intelligence allows for?

Ben, this is not a common occurance. Make sure you patch the client to match the server, I assume you already have done so. Check busobj.exe version, for FP1.3 should be 12.1.3.1028
-Do you have any other versions of BO installed?
-Does it happen with a specific user account?
    -Try a un-install and re-install
Search SAP notes for "Deski crashing" and you will see see a few notes to try out.

  • Determine used desktop intelligence report server

We are using a clustered environment with 2 desktop intelligence report servers (bo xi release 2).
Is it possible to know what report server is used for viewing or refreshing a deski report with the enterprise or reportengine sdk?

    Hi,
The idle connection time out: Specifies the amount of time, in minutes, that the server waits for requests from an idle connection. Setting a value too low can cause a user's request to be closed prematurely. Setting a value too high can cause system resources to be consumed for longer than necessary.
so its fine its not necessary that both should be the same time. But by default both of them are 20 min.

  • Remote Desktop Password Box Doesn't Go Away

    Hello All,
I'm having problems connecting from Mac 10.5 to a Windows Vista machine using the Remote Desktop Client for Mac. I have successfully managed to connect OS 10.6 to this machine using the same credentials and program, but can't from 10.5.
Remote desktop works on the problem 10.5 machine when connecting to my University's virtual computers, which is also Remote Desktop. So I know that the client works.
However, when I try to connect to this specific computer, the login box never accepts my login. It just keeps popping back up. If I try on a Mac running 10.6 using the same login, everything is fine.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help.

I do not have an answer, but you could maybe try CoRD
    <http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/30808>
I've been able to Microsoft's RDC from Mac OS X Tiger, Leopard, and Snow Leopard. Sometimes getting the correct Windows Domain has been an issue, but once I have that correct, it has worked.
I've also recently experimented with CoRD. It has a nicer interface, bookmarks multiple target Windows systems, and allows multiple concurrent Windows connections, and allows exporting my local disks to the Windows system. It does not send sound back to my Mac which RDC does.

  • Change password via 3-Tier Desktop Intelligence

    Hi everyone,
It would be highly appreciated if you could tell me how to change password via 3-Tier Desktop Intelligence.
    Version: XI3.0, XI3.1
    Thanks a lot!
    Lisa

    No problem.
And for a work around you can have users
login directly to the CMS (2-tier)
    change password
    then close deski
as long as they know the difference they can then login to deski 3-tier with their new password.
    Another option would be to
lookup the user account in CMC
in user properties check the box "must change password at next login"
Then even 3-tier users will be prompted to change their password the next time they login

    Tim
