PC Suite 6.8 - Nokia 6230 - Connects ok but no Syn...

Hi.
Finally got 6.8 to install on my Windows Xp SP2 machine.
Had the previous version installed and working ok. Had to uninstall/reinstall several times and use many of the fixes listed on this site to finally get 6.8 installed.
Phone connects via bluetooth ok and I can see files on the phone and transfer them back and forth.
PC Suite main window shows Nokia 6230 connected via Bluetooth.
Select synchronize. PC Sync window opens with Not Connected shown at the top of the form. The Synchronise Now and Settings buttons are greyed out. If I push Select Phone nothing happens.
Anyone any idea what the problem is ?

If you open File Manager in PC Suite and locate your phone at the left panel (you must have folders view in Windows Explorer), scroll to contacts folder under the phone, select update button phone with arrow in the upper area of the file manager window, do you get your contacts updated to PC from the phone ?
Just asking this question to narrow down the problem causes, if you get the contact to File Manager/Nokia Phone Browser, your syncronisation with the phone is propably OK, but the PC Sync application is stuck.
Another thing that may help PC Sync to realise the phone is connected is to open manage connections and untick the bluetooth option and then tick it back.
The is also a separate exit option in PC Sync, if you locate the jingjang symbol from Windows tray(bottom right of your screen)right click the icon you can see exit. Choose that and then reopen PC Sync from PC Suite main view.
OK, opend file manager from PC Suite.
The folder structure I see is
My Bluetooth places->Entire Blutooth Neighborhood->Nokia 6230->
The only subfolder from this level is OBEX file transfer and below that are graphics,Images,Memory Card, Music files,Recordings,Tones,Video Clips
I don't see any contacts folder.
I can go into the memory card folder, see my music tracks and transfer them back and forth.
Tried unticking/ticking. Makes no difference
Tried closing/reopening PC Sync, no difference.
If I click on the phone icon Nokia 6230 just below Entire bluetooth neighborhood then the right hand panel shows
Audio Gateway on Nokia 6230 (not connected)
COM1 on Nokia 6230 (not connected)
Dial Up Networking on Nokia 6230
Nokia PC Suite on Nokia 6230 (not connected)
OBEX file transfer on Nokia 6230
OBEX Object Push on Nokia 6230
If I double click Nokia PC Suite on Nokia 6230 it changes to show connected. If I right click on the icon and select status the signal strength shows GOOD, but after a minute or two the phone beeps and the icon changes back to not connected.
I noticed that after open/close PC Synch the first time I am no longer able to select Manage Connections. I have to reboot the machine before Manage connections will work again.
Throughout all of this, the icon in the system tray is saying that the Nokia 6230 is connected via Bluetooth.
Why is this so god damn difficult ??

  • 6230 connected successfully but can not synch. Out...

I've synchr. my 6230 with my PC (XP) for more than three years without problems. For a few weeks the synchronisation does not work anymore, the phone writes "keine Genehmigung" (no permission). I can see all the datas from my phone on my computer, I can download the photos, the musik-files and see the contacts, so it is correctly connected via bluetooth, but if I want no synchronise with my outlook, i get this error-code.
For the last 3 years it works without any failure.
Does anyone of you have any idea to solve this problem?

  • Nokia 6230 PC Suite Bluetooth Problem

Hello, i need a help with my mobile....
    I am using:
    Windows XP SP 2
    PC Suite 6.7
    Nokia 6230
    CNet Bluetooth USB Dongle
My pc can see the phone but when i tried to connect it said that cannot authorizate, but i see that when it tried to connect... the windows XP saw the phone and make a connection with the phone to share internet.
    Please Help me...
Sorry if a wrote something wrong, i don't speak english. I speak spanish.
    Thanks.

Problem just solved. I installed Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP2 operating system and now it works perfectly, so the problem was just that the performance edition operating system caused the drivers not installing properly. But now I have another kind of a problem. I am using the N96 as a modem for Internet. I can only get a speed of approx 45kb/s, while I have got almost 110kb/s with another computer using the same cable. Is it caused because of the USBv1.1 slow USB version? But shouldn't it still be able to do better than 45kb/s, while it transfers files with OK speeds? When I use the Bluetoothv1 USB Dongle, it works with about the same speed but only when using the performance edition, not when using the home original OS. When using home edition OS it works about 5kb/s, but it could have been just temporary. But my main question is, still, that how could I get the speed faster? I have installed the windows KBxxxxxxx patch, but still it works pretty slow, just about half of the speed it is supposed to work.

  • Nokia X6 connection problem with ovi suite

I had recenly bought a nokia x6 16gb and I have connection problem with my ovie suite.I am using cable to connect to the pc.When I open my ovie store it says connect ur device under the ovie suit toolbar. And I connect it but it actually worked but it work for about 5sec and it auto dissconnected.I had tried reconnecting it but turn out the same. But when I am using my laptop and I connect it using Bluetooth it work (ONLY FOR TRANSFER SONG AND PHOTO).I cant update my phone software because I am using bluetooth.I also tried using cable to my laptop but it is same like how I connected to my pc.I am using Windows XP SP2(PC).Thank you for those who helped me and spending time reading it.(Reason=Because I wanna update my phone Software).Again Tks

    Hi PhoneNerdies,
Firstly, I recommend to update your Windows XP to Service pack 3. Nokia Ovi Suite do not support fully the XP with service pack 2.
Then use the latest Ovi Suite available, current version is 2.2.0.245 and available from Nokia.com and Ovi.com download pages. You Ovi Suite version you find from help menu and About the Ovi Suite tag.
Then update your X6 to the latest SW available.
After these steps your X6 would work fine.

  • PC Suite V6.80.22 Bluetooth connect problem.

I am running Windows XP Pro Version2002 SP2
    PC Suite V6.80.22
    Nokia 6230 connecting via Bluetooth.
PC Suite works fine (better than older versions), however,
I have to reconnect to my phone every time I start PC Suite or move my phone away from my Laptop. My phohne is set up to pair to the Laptop OK and once you perform a "get connected" and enter the pin No, all is fine until you move away. On my old laptop, using an earlier version of PC Suite, this all worked OK, with automatic connections via bluetooth OK. Is this a bug, or do I have a config problem?
    Thanks
    Evan Pav^ Jenkins

Hi there... something that disturbs me is that you said you have to enter the PIN NUMBER every time you reconnect... this should not be the case.
If you actually have to enter your PIN each time, the phone can't be paired, or not properly anyway. I'd suggest removing all pairings from your phone, unpair your phone from PC Suite and start again - search for devices, enter PIN, pair again and then set your PC as an authorised device.
If you still have the same problem, can you let us know what Bluetooth drivers you're using? To find out go to Control Panel, System, Hardware tab, Device Manager, expand Bluetooth entry, double click on a Bluetooth entry, click on the driver tab and there it will give you the driver provider and driver version.
Also, what's the firmware version of your phone? To find this out, type in *#0000#

  • PC Suite 6.85.12.0 with a Nokia 6230 Doesn't Sync ...

My phone is a Nokia 6230.
My computer is an IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad T42 running Windows XP Professional SP2.
I'm using a Bluetooth connection to synchronize the phone with Outlook.
    The system info is:
    Operating system:
    Microsoft Windows XP
    Build 2600
    Service Pack 2
    Language: English
    Language for non-Unicode programs: English
    Locale: English
    Input language: English
    Nokia PC Suite:
    Version 6.84.10.3
    Language: English
    Connectivity Cable Drivers:
    Version 6.84.4.0
    PC Connectivity Solution:
    Version 7.22.7.1
    Microsoft Outlook:
    Version 11.0
    Build 8169
    Bluetooth stack:
    Microsoft Bluetooth stack
    Version 5.1.2600
    Build 2180
Yesterday I received the message informing me that there was an upgrade available to PC Suite 6.85.12.0. I've had no real problems with 6.84.10.3 but it has a few quirks:
When I synchronize PCS 6.84 with Outlook I have to do it twice. The first time I get a message "Connected to (computer)" on the phone display. The synchronization then ends with a warning message in the last report
    PC Sync information.
The mobile phone has not responded.
    Possible Solution
Please ensure your phone is in the standby mode, then restart the Synchronization.
If I sync again within a minute the synchronization succeeds. After a minute of no activity the phone displays a message "Disconnected from (computer)" and I am back in the original state.
I can live with this. I just have to hit "Synchronize now" twice about five seconds apart.
The second problem I had was with transferring a largish music file (6 Mbytes) to the phone. I tried several times and it got truncated but I got enough of it (a minute's worth) to be a useful ringtone so I left it at that.
I thought I'd give PCS 6.85 a try and see if a release that promises stability fixes would clear up these quirks. What I ended up with is a release that wouldn't synchronize at all. Every time I tried to synchronize it failed. I would get the "Connected to (computer)" message on the phone follwed about one second later by "Disconnected from (computer)" and the same warning as shown above in the report log.
I then tried to back out to PCS 6.84.10.3. This version, and an older one as well wouldn't work now either. It took me many hours of hair pulling, head scratching, Googling, and experimentation to get back to the version and behavior I had started out with.
Since I didn't see this procedure stated explicitly anywhere let me describe the steps it took.
    1) From the control panel remove PC Suite.
    2) From the Control Panel remove Cable Connectivity Drivers.
At this point I thought I could just install an older version but the older versions didn't work now either. I then read about PCS Cleaner. So I downloaded that (version 3.6) and tried to run it and got the rather confusing message:
"PC Suite Cleaner does not support this version of Nokia PC Connectivity Solution (version number). Please contact Nokia support."
I then tried manually cleaning PCS files and registry but I only made things worse. Finally after many futile attempts it dawned on me that the above message meant "First remove PC Connectivity Solution" so:
    3) From the control panel remove PC Connectivity solution.
    4) Now PCS Cleaner 3.6 agreed to launch and I was able to scrub the machine.
    5) Finally I could reinstall PC Suite. Reinstalling PC Suite 6.85.12.0 gave me the same no synchronization problem. Repeating the whole procedure with PCS 6.84.10.3 brought my system back to its original state.
I have since again received theadvisory message that a new version of PC Suite is available. Needless to say I am now studiously ignoring it. I do not have the time or patience to work on this again until someone offers a workaround/fix for this problem.
    Any ideas?

SOLUTION AT LAST!! (as dumb as it may be)
-- This posts refers to an older version of PC Suite than mine, but I suspect the situation (and the problem) is very similar.
    Hey everyone!
It's been hours of forum searching and reading million of suggestions how to make my 6230 sync with the *several* latest versions of Nokia PC Suite (HELLO! NOKIA ARCHITECHTS! You have some serious recurring problem here! Don't abandon the veterans in your client base, it reflects really bad on you service-wise! At least post an official message that you acknowledge the problem and that you're working on it!)
Seems that tons of people encountered my exact problem:
Connection works, pairing works, file copying works, synchronisation doesn't work.
Well, the forums mentioned that the older older versions of PC Suite had a very quick timeout problem, so one had to synchronise twice, fast, in order for sync to succeed.
Now, it seemed like the timeout was reduced to almost "0", and disconnection immediately followed connection.
So, even though I did not see any second confirmation message (normally the phone shows a request to "connect" and then a second request to "transfer data" ) - I thought maybe it was there only disappearing very fast. So I decided to simply click twice fast, and I mean REALLY FAST, on the main button to accept, hoping that the connection will be kept. And VOILA! The connection was kept, and the sync was successful.
I know it's not a permanent solution, but for me, for now, considering how hard (why is it hard, Nokia??) and annoying it is to revert to a much older version of PC Suite - it's at least a temporary solution that works. And the only one I've found so far.
    ================================
    Specifications:
    Phone: Nokia 6230
    Firmware: 04.44, 21-09-04
    PC Suite: 6.86.9.0
    MS Windows: XP SP2
    MS Outlook: 2003 SP3
    ================================
I wonder if that would work for everyone.
If so please spread the word, seems that lots of people would like to know that. At least until a decent fix will be released for the PC Suite, that is.
    Cheers,
    Ohad

  • Connect ibook to nokia 6230

I can connect my mobile phone (Nokia 6230) to my computer but when somebody calls me, the window doesn't appears. Why? What can I do?
    Thank you.

Accept the phone call on your mobile phone – just kidding.
I am unsure if the Nokia 6230 is supported by the Apple Address Book. Either try another user for which it works, patch the Apple Address Book yourself or go for BluePhoneElite.

  • Nokia 6280 connectivity cable/PC Suite

hi! i have a new 6280 and have installed all PCSuite and cable drivers software and updates. i have a CA-53 cable. below are all the specs. i followed installation instructions correctly. when i get to the Get Connected setup window, i click "cable connection", then "next" and connect the phone and cable to the pc. nothing happens in this window, but i get a windows error message that says "the device has malfunctioned" and "windows doesn't recognise it."
after a minute or so, my phone sees it has a cable connected and i choose the default mode, but still the "Get Connected" setup window doesn't see it, and windows gives the same error message bubble as before.
i tried selecting the phone in PC Sync, but it doesn't find my phone.
i also check the settings for "cable connection" in the Connection Manager, but the configure button stays deactivated. i've tried rebooting, uninstalling/reinstalling, but nothing works to continue with the setup. the only thing that seems to have worked is in "My Computer" i can see the Nokia Phone Browser and access that. but it only shows how to add a new contact or write a text message.
now i'm just wondering if i need to have my phone chip card activated, meaning that it's online and can make calls. well, it won't be activated for another week. is that what this is all about? if it is, it's not clear in the setup. it only states that this section of the setup is for connecting the phone to the computer, and no mention at all about connecting to the internet or my phone line provider.
all i want to do is continue the installation of the software and i want windows to recognise it.
i checked the help files and did as they say. the device manager has no listing of any nokia products - wireless or otherwise.
please can you tell me what to do? thanks.
    Operating system:
Microsoft Windows XP Build 2600 Service Pack 2
    Nokia PC Suite: Version 6.81.13.0
    Connectivity Cable Drivers: Version 6.81.1.2
Bluetooth stack: Microsoft Bluetooth stack Version 5.1.2600.2180

While phone connected to PC, right click My computer - manage - device manager and see if there are any unknwn yellow question mark devices. If yes, highlight it - right click - uninstall.
    Boot PC
Also battery boot your phone and run factory settings to it.
Now connect the phone again and see if it pops up the question about the USB mode right away (that is how it should work and not wait for a minute to appear.
I have 6280 and I tried to connect it without the SIM card and it connected normally. I also got the question in phone about the USB mode immediately.
But, I don't know is there a difference if you connect the phone to PC first time ever without a SIM
If it continues to be so that the USB mode does not pop up, I would consider taking the phone to a service center.

  • Nokia PC Suite VS Nokia PC Connectivity

This may be a noob question, so please forgive my ignorance.
Can someone please give me a concise rundown of what Nokia PC Suite & Nokia PC Connectivity Solution are?
I've been searching Google & all over & can't really get a distinction between the two. I'm largely unfamiliar with these applications, but because of some of the work I'm doing for my job I need to find this information out.
    Thank you all.
*Hopes & prays to not get flamed or trolled upon* (^_^)
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

There used to be separate versions of PC Suite for each and every phone model
At some point it evolved into a single, "unified" PC Suite version supporting all phone models (relatively current at the time and afterwards, ignoring support for many older models).
A few yeara later Nokia branched off parts (the core PC connectivity bits/components) from PC Suite to create a new application (user interface) called Ovi Suite (PC Suite was being kept updated alongside) based on Qt.
A couple of years later (last fall) Ovi Suite was renamed to Nokia Suite (as Nokia is gradually moving away from the "Ovi" brand it introduced in 2007).
    Latest Ovi/Nokia Suite here:
    http://www.comms.ovi.com/m/p/ovi/suite/English
    Latest PC Suite here:
    http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/nokia-pc-suite
If things haven't changed lately, you can even install both on the same PC, if you wish.
For N9 (MeeGo) Nokia also has the Nokia Link:
    http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/nokia-link
And for Mac users Nokia has had stuff, too:
    http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/mac-support
(Note: For Windows application developers Nokia has also released two different SDKs, Software Development Kits. For the phones prior to the "unified" PC Suite times, there is/was something called the "Nokia PC Connectivity SDK", and for the newer PC Suite supported phones there's the "PC Suite API", also known as "Nokia PC Suite Connectivity API".)

    Hello every one,
I have connected my nokia 6030 with my laptop using CA-45 cable after installing Nokia PC suite 6.81 in my laptop.
But I found that there is no driver available for CA-45 cable. The only way so far I know to connect the Nokia 6030 with a PC is CA-45. Can I get driver or Nokia PC suite suitable for me.
Please give me reply if you have any.

    Salut rakeshsahua,
    Just go to:
    http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/download-software/nokia-pc-suites/compatibility-and...#
Choose your phone model and then download. You don't need to worry about drivers, when you make the connection between the PC and the phone (which you are prompted to do the first time you run PC Suite) and it installs the drivers that it needs automatically.

  • A good solution to get old contact of Nokia 6230 t...

    Hi,
I wanted my contact from my old sim + phone contact to be moved from my Nokia 6230 to the E71.
I first tried with Nokia Suite, but the blue tooth connection did not work and I couldn't find my Nokia 6230 cable anymore.
In the E71 there is an option called "Menu->Instruments-->Transfer" in Dutch: Menu-->instrumenten->Overdracht.
Here you can connect through bluetooth with the 6230 and then transfer all contact.. Take notice that the way you show surname, firstname or firstname, surname makes it look like you did not transfer all data. In that case do a search and you see it works. Even conflicts are resolved.

My tip would also be the summary item

  • Nokia 6230 calls can't get through

    hi,
i'm using a Nokia 6230 on AT&T wireless network.  lately, i've been experiencing call difficulty with my phone.  after dialing numbers, i didn't hear any ringing from my phone, so i have to call the number again to have the call go through.  but my friends told me they heard the ring and picked up the phone, but no one is answering.  i checked the att reception in the area, and it doesn't seem to be a network problem.  just wonder what's wrong?
the phone was bought 3 years ago brand new.  and i'd like to know whether it's early signs of hardware failing.

    Hi arabianights,
    Welcome to the Nokia forum.
Try a reset and a software update, if this doesn't work I would highly recommend visiting a local Care centre to get it checked as it will most likely be a hardware issue in that case.
Connect your phone to Nokia Suite and go to Tools > Back up to make sure you don't loose any data on your phone. Don't tick the Settings box as this will back up a potential bug in the software that might be causing this.
Now disconnect the device from Nokia Suite and enter *#7370# into your phone and default security code 12345, unless you've changed this code yourself.
Once the phone has rebooted you will have an empty phone. Reconnect the device to Nokia Suite and click on the green arrow where you can update the software. If there's no update listed, reinstall the current software. This option is displayed in blue.
Now go to Tools > Restore to restore the back up onto your phone.
If this doesn't resolve the issue, please visit a local Care centre. You can find the one nearest to you here.
Please get back to me and let me know how you get on.

    Hello
I am pretty new at this bluetooth game and I am trying to connect 2 mobiles to my PC. A Nokia 6230 and a Nokia 6310i. The 6310i was working via PC Suite 4 (all set up by a friend) but when I tried to connect the 6230 it would not work. I downloaded PC suite 6 and now neither of them will work. When I use the "Get Connected" function and ask the package to find either of the two mobiles all I get is a message saying "Cannot use the connection type. Check that all the needed hardware, software and drivers are available".
I have looked at the PC Suite system info (in Help) and it shows up as Connectivity Cable Driver 6.85.10.0 within which it lists the Microsoft Bluetooth stack version 5.1.2600, build 2180.
At this point I grind to a halt. Can someone help me please? What am I missing and what do I need to do to get my 2 mobiles talking to my PC (Toshiba) so that I can use the PC as my contact backup device?
    Many thanks in advance

  • Nokia music manager problems with Nokia 6230 model...

Hello. Recently I installed the newer version of nokia PC-Suite, the version 6.8.22. I have a nokia 6230 model HS-12 with HS-3 handsFree attached. Make the connection via Bluetooth (SMC USB Bluetooth) over a Windows XP SP2 system. The connection works fine.
The problem arrives with the new MusicManager software.
First, the playlists that this program creates, generates a error in mi phone. It says "Invalid tracklist". Surfing the web, the problem was that MusicManager generates the playlist entries (in the phone) refers to C:\ and D:\ (this for the MMC), when the phone internally works with unities A:\ and B:\. Changing "manually" the playlist it works, so if any people with design responsabilities read this, please take note.
Second, when convert my .MP3 files into .AAC files, the program converts the files into a .AAC but in MONO !! The music only sound in one channel, when the .MP3 is full stereo. Really, the conversion is in Stereo, but only converts one channel. The other remains muted. I have no idea of this problem. I listen the "mono" files in any Windows player, even at the phone.
If any people can help me, or have similar problems, or need more information please make a reply.
    Thanks.

    Hi
The tracklist stuff with 6230 (Ive owned a 6230 before) is a very difficult procedure, because it is not a drag and drop process from PC to phone. You have to giggle and dive onto the Audio Manager app in PC Suite where you have to find the Playlist folder in your phone memory and place all playlists there to be able to be recognized by the phone. Simple drag and drop will not work (like the m3u is in the MMC).
About your mono problem, I haven't checked out this feature of Music Manager because I still think its purely buggy even of the newer features and new face it has now. Better use other music software to transcode your MP3's such as dbpoweramp's Music Converter software (its free trial for 30 days, after that the MP3 encoding and Power Pack features are useless, if you download other codecs, you can use them after the trial.)
    cheers.
The world might be a better place if you were I.
