PC Suite 7.0.9.2 on Vista Backup Utility Crashes

I just updated my PC suite with latest version (7.0.9.2) on my Windows Vista (Business) OS.
After doing so I am not able to use the backup utility (ContentCopier). I used to backup my phone on PC using the earlier version of PC Suite.
Is there any solution/patch?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

It worked for me perfectly fine. Thanks .
I got the version 7.0.9.2 from PC suite internal update - didn't know there was a newer version available.

  • PC Version of Photoshop CS4 Suite on a MAC with Windows Vista Via BootCamp?

Trying to decide wither to give Adobe another $1,400 for a MAC version of their Creative Suite or just use my PC Version on my MacBook Pro and iMac 24".
Either way I am spending money ($350 for Vista Ultimate 64BIT, or $1,400 for the Suite).
Technically I could installed Vista 64 Ultimate under BootCamp, VMFusion or Parallels, and then install my Windows Version of the Adobe Suite I already own and use it on the MAC since you are allowed to have 2 installs on the same Windows OS. I have 1 on a PC and thus would use the other on the MAC.
I wonder however how well Windows and Photoshop in general will play with the MAC via Bootcamp... and will I be able to share files between the Windows OS and MAC OS easily?
Or Should I just let Adobe fully take advantage of me and purchase the MAC platform Version of the exact same software I already own for PC (BTW, I need to keep it on PC as I have to use PC's for certain things and need a PC version).
Its a "$350 Vs $1,400 decision"... I guess I am looking for a little advise from people that might know how Vista64 and CS4 play with bootcamp, Parallels and or VMFusion and what is the best Ultimate option (money aside).

I have the Windows version of CS4 installed in a VMWare Fusion virtual machine (running Windows 7 Ultimate) on my MacBook Pro. While it's not quite as fast or responsive as the native versions I have on the Mac side (I installed the Windows version mostly out of curiosity), it's quite usable.
That being said, you're probably going to be better off using your current Windows versions on your Mac. The reason doesn't have anything to do with the software, but with Adobe. Adobe is a complete mess right now. Their Better Business Bureau rating is currently a D and the BBB recommends caution when dealing with them. They are correct in that. Adobe's Customer Service is worse than useless. They claim they're working on fixing it, but so far, I haven't seen any improvement at all. The went so far as to post a public apology from Lambert Walsh, Adobe's VP of Technical Services, on their website, though that seems to have been removed now. Adobe has always had very poor service, but in the past couple of years, it's gone from bad to horrible. You can indeed switch your license from Windows to Mac. I did it a little over 3 years ago (you're allowed to switch 5 times in a lifetime) and it took many hours on the phone (dropped calls, failure to call me back, endless time on hold) and 4 lost faxes before it finally worked. I understand things are much worse now; take a look at the forums on Adobe's website: http://forums.adobe.com/community/general/adobedotcom_feedback

  • Vista machine called "crash"

Unfortunately, I have an Hp desktop, 9426, that I've decided to call "Crash"
I think the name is befitting. I can expect maybe misguidedly so, an occasional problem, but this machine has had problems for way too long.  It used to blue screen occasionally, but its maddening now.
Two weeks ago, I had a new hard drive installed because the self diagnostics said it was "bad."
It would crash, always giving the same line on the BSOD.
I sent it in for service at a Staples store, & they said after 5 visits they couldn't find any problem they could pin down, but the error is always the same.
So, they did a fresh reinstall of Vista.
Still crashing, especially when I try to turn it off using the windows shut down.
As I was doing something else earlier tonight , it crashed 3 times, at at the same minute and hour according to the
    microsoft log.
I'm fed up to say the least.
When last a STAPLES, they said it didn't crash at all, but i'm sure they didn't watch it every minute as this cycles from BSOD to the main screen in only a couple of minutes.
    Any help here?
    Thanks

    Hello again gvasale.
The page file is like a "virtual RAM" on your machine.  I am sorry for the confusion but you do NOT have to upload your page file for me!  That would take hours even on my broadband connection.  I'll try to better explain the steps.
To configure Windows to create a dumpfile try the following.
Go to your Control Panel and select "System."
On the left side select "Advanced system settings."
Under "Startup and recovery" select "Settings."
    Uncheck "Automatically restart."
Ensure that "Write an event to the system log" is checked.
Note the location of the dump file.  This is what I'll need you to upload.  It is basically a text file.
Click OK to save your changes.
To increase the size of your page file you want to try the following.
Go to your Control Panel and select "System."
On the left side select "Advanced system settings."
Under the "Performance" section select "Settings."
    Select the "Advanced" tab.
You will see a "Change" button under "Virtual Memory."  Select this.
    Select "Custom Size."
Make the initial size 9000 and the maximum size 9000.
Save the changes and reboot your PC.
Let me know if that helps and I'll be watching for that dump file.
    Have a lovely day!
Please click the white star under my name to give me Kudos as a way to say "Thanks!"
Click the "Accept as Solution" button if I resolve your issue.

  • Time Capsule and Vista - Backup Software?

I am using TC on my home networks which is accessed from a XP Desktop and a Vista Laptop.
Once setup I can map to the TC Drive on my Vista machine.....however I do not see the drive under the "Network" link in Windows Explorer. With this setup I can drag files to the TC Drive very easily.
What I want to do is use a backup product that can perform the backups automatically (like Time Machine does with TC). I tried to use the Vista backup tool but I am unable to select the TC Drive - it does not appear as a drive or as available on the network.
The Vista laptop accesses the TC Disk wirelessly. I think the backup process in XP worked ok, I don't remember now.
Anyone found a way to use Vista and TC with a windows based backup tool? Thanks in advance.

I actually made some headway last night, but I can't say what exactly solved the problem (perhaps it is just fixed temporarily).
Last night I was prompted to update the firmware to 7.3.1, which I did. I still could see the mapping of the drive in Windows but not under the "Network" link so it was not visible from Windows.
I walked away for a few hours and when I came back....for some reason I could now see the Time Capsule, and the TC drive, under the network link. I then tried to access it from Vista Backup. I can now select the drive and I used the credentials admin/"the password I used when I setup access to the TC disk". I then get an RPC error and after looking in Windows forums I see 80 odd posts on this. So I gave up.
I then pulled down a trial of Acronis (I think version 11) and.....believe it or not...it all worked beautifully. I had to be able to see the drive under the network link first....that was key. I used the same credentials above in Acronis to map to the TC drive and overnight it backed up my files to the TC drive. This is what I needed.
But to summarize.....I don't know what caused the drive to become visible under the "Network" link in Windows Explorer. Once this worked then I could use a backup tool (just not the Vista tool as it is crap!!). There is also a free backup tool out there called Corbian (http://www.educ.umu.se/~cobian/cobianbackup.htm). Have not tried this yet but I might as the drive is now visible.

  • Bios recovery for HP dv5-1235dx/Vista (64-bit) crashed during update

My HP Pavillion dv5-1235dx which ran windows vista (64-bit) crashed while updating bios (after my old bios was deleted).  I have tried the start+b+power trick to recover but that option did not work.  HP Support suggests to create a usb key to install bios, however I have repeatedly failed in recovering/installing bios because the instructions are very limited. They mention a "create a usb key" option that I have yet to find that would make the key.  After using the HP UEFI BIOS Update SoftPAQ and extracting files from the bios .exe file, I found the following:
1 folder (sp45138) with contents below
    3602F21.fd
    3603F21.fd
    ding (wave sound)
    InsydeFlash (application)
    InsydeFlash (text document)
    iscflash.dll
    iscflash.sys
    iscflashx64.sys
    platform (configuration settings)
So, my questions are as follows:
Where is the mystery "create a usb key" button?
What files should I have installed on my usb drive?
Does anything have to be renamed or formatted?
    Thanks for any help given!

Hello Ceelion21.  I understand you're trying to recover your computer from a failed BIOS flash.
I see this question get asked a lot so I have made sure to bookmark the instructions which I found on another website.  Here is a link.
You should be able to download the BIOS file from HP Support.  I believe you'll need to use an application such as 7-Zip to extract the BIOS file and locate the *.FD file.
If this doesn't work you'll likely need to have the notebook repaired.  If you'd like to inquire about a repair through HP Support and are in the US/Canada you can give them a call at 1-800-474-6836.  If you're in another part of the world you'll need to visit HP Support Worldwide to get your region's contact information.
Let me know the result of the BIOS recovery.  I hope you have an excellent night!

  • SOA Suite 11g TP3 + Update 1 on Vista

    Hi,
A few weeks ago I installed SOA Suite 11g TP3 on a Vista pc and completed the SOAHello application.
On a recent 11g preview I did another tutorial for which it was advised to install TP3 + update 1. This time configuration of SOA Suite took 11 minutes instead of the usual 7 to 8 minutes. However, the message "Build successful" appeared. I created a composite containing BPEL, ran it and started the SOAConsole. The SOAConsole appeared, however the deployed application could not be found. Anyone had similar problems?
I recently installed SOA Suite 10g on Vista. There is a Metalink note (note 444112.1) providing some additional steps on installing SOA Suite 10g on Vista. When I perform these steps, mainly disabling IPv6, SOA Suite 11g TP3 + update 1 installs correctly and the application is visible in SOAConsole.
    Regards, Ronald

Well in our case it was pretty reproducable. A colleague also installed and configured JDeveloper 11g TP3 (without update 1) on Vista. The composite deployed, ran and showed in the SOA Console without any problems. Same for me.
However, when I "upgraded" too update 1 (did this a couple of times), every time preconfiguration took too long but succeeded, deployment worked, but no composite was shown in the SOA Console. When I performed the configuration steps for installing SOA Suite 10g on Vista (see Metalink note), JDeveloper 11g TP3 + update 1 worked for the composite and showed in the SOA Console the first time.

  • PC Suite 7 - Loading Style Failed - Clean Vista ma...

    Hello,
I work at a company that migrates from windows XP to Vista , we are trying to deploy PC Suite on a clean vista machine , and we tried on several machines. but the application straight downloaded from nokia.com/pcsuite starts with an error. its shows a little popup box telling "loading style failed" some how the gui doesnt start up.
on 5 machines the same error pops up but on 1 machine afther a new ghost has been placed on it) it did start up but the gui was completely messed up (small letters , or no letters, size of the gui was wrong so buttons where shown half). then exiting the application trough right click on the tray icon of PCSync it came with the same error starting it up the next time.
Fun thing is that all the applications work fine, when we start the executables, as example
    C:\Program Files\Nokia\PC Suite 7\contentcopier.exe
    C:\Program Files\Nokia\PC Suite 7\videomanager.exe
    and so on.
But the PCSuite.exe wont load. (and the get connected(.exe) wizard also switches back to Pcsuite.exe when exiting
I tried with several profiles and also machine configurations. compatibility mode, run as administrator and so on..and so on.. but sofar no luck.
i think it might be a policy or other (3rd party software) interference on our end. but i have no clue where to start looking.
Some help would be greatly apreciated.
    Kind regards

Thank you AdrianHughes for your swift reply,
i just downloaded as suggested the latetst version of Ovi Suite, are you shure its not still in beta testing ?, cause this final release that i downloaded starts up with a Portugese-Brazillian interface & licence agreement. then it wants to check for updates wich i allowed to do (ofcourse we want the latest version)
while installing this message popped up:
Seems the common Dell Optiplex 775 (business pc) isnt supported
So im sorry to say this isnt gonna work for me (my company) since this machine configuration is used alround .. and if i package this and distribute it, it might not work on slightly different configurations)
I had a program running in the back that recorded everything the application does so lets see what it actually did ... extracted/downloaded several files to %appdata%\OviInstallerCache including 2 of the 3 Prerequirements (being windows components).
but what amazed me more is that this application is build on the *old* components of Pc Suite 7 what didnt work in the first place under vista (even tho these are loose components) And nokia made it even harder to deploy this software using microsoft installer technologie .. instead of making 1 Msi file to be installed.. they now have a total of 9 MSI files whilest PC suite 7 had 4..
    Prerequirements:
    WindowsMediaFormat11.msi
    VC90-x86.msi (or 64)
    MSXML6.msi
    Application it self:
NokiaConnectivityDriver.msi (same as nokia pc suite 7 *maybe slightly changed)
PCCS.msi (same as nokia pc suite 7 *maybe slightly changed)
    OviTrilogy.msi
    Oviplatform.msi
    Nokia_Ovi_Suite_Software_updater_1_8__39420.msi
    Nokia_Ovi_Suite.msi
Why not make 1 msi file for deployment..  well atleast thanks for the support sofar, if any one else has an idea on how to fix this problem with pc suite 7 im all ears.(eyes on screen)
    Kind Regards

    No driver.
Windows can't find the driver automatically so I go to locate the driver manually. Under NOKIA there are many drivers, which is the right one to use?
    Any suggestions much appreciated!

Just to follow on, tried the first driver on the list only to find a) it didn't work, b) when I restarted had to do a system restore!
Has anyone out there successfully used a C-42 cable to connect to PC suite on Vista with a 6101?
It worked perfectly well with Windows XP and an Ir connection.

  • PC Suite 7.1.26.0 freezes Vista i/o intermittently

    PC Suite 7.1.26.0
    Vista Business, SP2
    TrendMicro OfficeScan
    HP Media Center PC
Installed PC Suite with the most recent download.  Syncing via BT or cable appears to work with E71x and Outlook, although I've not looked carefully at the data.
My problem appears to be the ServiceLayer service that is associated with PC Suite. While running, the PC will intermittently freeze all i/o (screen, keyboard, mouse, audio) for a second or two as often as every minute.  Stopping the service fixes the problem. Unfortunately, starting/stopping the service to use the PC or sync isn't a practical option.  The problem occurs independent of the phone being connected.
    Thanks for any feedback.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Still happens with 7.1.30.0.
While simply working on the computer will illustrate the problem (mouse freezes for a fraction of a second every minute or so,) running windows media player and sitting back will illustrate it best. Within the first minute or so, the player will freeze for a second before continuing with the song. Stopping ServiceLayer service fixes all the problems.
ServiceLayer.exe was upgraded during the 7.1.30.0 upgrade to version 1.0.124.0
This is definitely machine-specific as my office machine doesn't demonstrate the problem.  I've removed and stopped every service I can possibly imagine conflicting, but obviously haven't found the correct one yet.
