PC Suite 7.1.40.1 drops sync with Outlook / E71

Hi gurus,
I am stuck on an interworking issue during MS Outlook calendar sync to my E71 (excellent piece, btw).
It all started when upgraded to Oct09 timeframe PC Suite version (cannot recall the version#) and is still present in the newest one I downloaded yesterday (7.1.40.1).
E71 firmware is 300.21.012 (18-06-2009) RM346
Syntom is the following: after having set the sync rules (what to sync, when to sync etc)
- it starts sync for  contacts and normally is updating fine
- it starts reading calendar, while reading (an enourmous number of entries, despite my current setting in +/- 1 week) thePC sync program crashes unexpectably without any error sign, leaving my E71 waiting endlessly is sync mode
The overall result is that I cannot align anymore PC and mobile for my appointments :manmad: that is a big issue if you use your mobile in business environment.
Anyone who can help?
Is there any logging possible to be activated so that I spot where the issue may be?
Thanks in advance!

I couldn't agree more with you - it is a pity that the latest version of the PC Suite was ever released - the previous version worked perfectly. I've never had a problem in about two years of using the PC Suite but this last update has prevented any sychning with my PC.
I was getting ready to move all my data onto anew phone and was specifically looking at a Nokia for the convenience oftransferring my data across.
Might as well go for some other brand now - just to be sure.

  • IPhone no longer syncs with Outlook Contacts/Calendar

For months I was syncing with my computer at home for music and videos, then I bring my iPhone to work and sync my Outlook Contacts and Calendar.
Now, when I plug in my iPhone on my work computer, everything operates as it used to, it still says it's syncing contacts, then syncing the calendar, but after it's done, when I look at the calendar or contacts in my iPhone, nothing has changed. It's simply not syncing with Outlook anymore, even though the status bar at the top of iTunes says it is syncing.

It appears I have solved the issue myself and thought I would share the solution in case anyone runs into this problem.
In Outlook, I only have one profile. However, Outlook somehow had some settings changed where it prompted me for which profile I wanted to use each time I started Outlook (even though I only have one profile). Because it was prompting me to choose when I start Outlook, I am guessing that when iTunes tried to access Outlook, it was also prompting iTunes to choose which profile to use as well. Since iTunes didn't know which profile, it wasn't syncing properly (note, iTunes never asks you which profile you want to use).
To fix this, I went to the control panel, double clicked the mail icon, clicked the button that says "Show Profiles". I highlighted the only profile I have listed in the drop-down menu and checked the box that says "Always use this profile".
I then sync'd iTunes with my phone and the calendar and contacts finally updated!

  • N86 no longer syncs with Outlook Calendar and Task

I have been having much troubles with syncing my N86 (recently updated to 30.009 firmware) to my Outlook 2003 with Ovi Suite 2.1.1.1.
At first, the Contacts kept duplicating themselves.  I have about 1000 contacts in my Outlook, but Ovi Suite (and my N86 device) ends up sometimes with 1800 contacts -- of which 800 are duplicates.  This is very annoying and time consuming to clean up of course.  I have discovered that the problem is somehow linked to Ovi.com.  I have since turned off syncing to Ovi.com and only keep my N86 device in sync with Outlook and Ovi Suite.  But that wasn't before I had to basically delete all my contacts from the N86 device and from Ovi Suite, followed by a sync to Outlook.
Around this same time, I have noticed that my N86 device was missing appointments that I had entered into Outlook 2003.  I discovered that the N86 device no longer syncs to Outlook through Ovi Suite.  I keep getting the error message "Sync Canceled -- Could not sync calendar items and tasks. Plug the USB cable into your device again or connect via Bluetooth. Then sync again."  I did reconnect my N86 device but the same error message shows each time.  Basically, Ovi Suite has stopped syncing Calendar items with my N86 device now.
Can anyone suggest what might have gone wrong?  Has anyone else experienced this problem?  What can I do to get my calendar items back into my device?

    Version 6.83.14.1

Does anyone know the best way to reset sync with outlook?
The problem seems to be that there is a missmatch between phone and outlook in terms of what has been updated.
I think this may be something to do with the fact that I have had 3 phones (Nokia N70, Motorolla and now another Nokia 6500 Classic)
I have tried uninstalling Nokia pc suite but it retains information about my previous phone when I reinstall it.
What this means is that if I sync I get multiple entries in my phone.
I have also tried moving all contacts to a new folder in outlook and syncing from phone to PC but only one item is transferred.
Any advice would be great thx.

  • N95-3 & Syncing with Outlook

I currently use a WM5-based phone which syncs extremely well with Outlook. Using MS ActiveSync, I can sync all contacts and calendar entries including the notes fields for each.
A year or so ago, I had used a Nokia 6256i and PC Suite software. While PC Suite worked, it did not allow me to sync contacts in Last Name, First Name format. Rather, it synced all contacts in First Name Last Name format. Also, it did not sync the notes fields for either contacts or calendar entries.
Syncing with Outlook is the most important function for me in a phone, aside from RF and sound quality.
How well does the N95 & PC Suite combo work? I'm hoping to find people who actually sync with Outlook and can verify first hand whether or not contacts sync in Last Name, First Name format and if the notes fields sync.
Would love to buy a N95 but need to confirm sync functionality first. I don't care about push e-mail, syncing via BT is fine.

All the ones I've used have.

Also, I looked at the N95's calendar function. When creating an appointment, I did not see a field for notes. I use the Outlook Calendar notes field extensively (directions, reservation numbers, etc.). I just need to be absolutely sure that the Outlook Calendar notes field does in fact sync to the N95 using PC Suite? Please humor me and tell me once more that it does.
The notes appear in the Description field on the phone. As with contacts, I believe this has a size limit on the phone, so if the notes are too long, they could get truncated.

Once the sync issue has been put to bed, I just need to decide whether to go forward with the N95-3 or wait for the 8GB US model to arrive next month. I plan on using this in the USA on the AT&T network.
Then I would get a US model as the warranties on phones bought outside the US aren't valid in the US.

  • Syncing with outlook

This is an often asked question, but something for which I have yet to see a satisfactory answer.  I am running Windows XP Professional.  I also have Outlook 2003 on my desktop.  I do not use Microsoft Exchange Server.  I have an iPod Nano, an iPad 2, and an iPod Shuffle.  I am running iTunes 10 and have the latest OS for iPad 2 (4.3.1?).
I also have a Blackberry Storm.  I have been effortlessly syncing contacts, notes and calendar onto my Blackberry via Blackberry Desktop Manager and Outlook over USB for many years now.  There is nothing wrong with my Outlook, my contact, notes or calendar entries.  In fact, I have been reliably syncing and backing up this information over two desktop computers.
Can someone explain to me why iTunes and Outlook refuse to sync the above items onto my iPod Nano and iPad 2?  It is a consistent and persistent problem.  I have tried everything suggested on the World Wide Web to remedy this situation.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook and iTunes.  I have checked the Apple add-in in the Coms menu in Outlook.  I have de-selected all other add-ins.  I have replaced the the libleay, ssleay and sqlite3 files in Windows\system32 files.  I have installed the latest Open SSL files.
I have reset sync history ad infinitum.  I have checked the iTunes calendar, notes and contacts sync with Outlook options.
I have done it all, and nothing works.
I am convinced this is a known technical issue which Apple has refused to address or has been unable to address.  Instead of offering a proper patch or resolving the issue, they have instead blamed the users for the problems.  This is not right.  Apple products are not cheap and they are expected to work out of the box with little configuring.  This is what Apple has advertised for many years as a competitive advantage.  But if simple tasks like syncing data is such a problem, how savvy can Apple be?  Fact is, everyone else seems to be getting it right.  Why not Apple?
Does anyone have a solution to this problem?  Why is it that every other company can get their devices to sync with the most used email, contacts and calendar system in the world, but the so called technology experts and "simplicity" experts can't get their expensive and vaunted devices to work on this same system.
Someone....does anyone have a solution to this problem?????

I just bought an iPad2. I have XP and Office/Outlook 2003 like a lot of people. I've been a big fan over the years of Pocket Informant (WebIS software) and have been using it successfully with my windows mobile devices but am now switching to the iPad2 for obvious reasons. The developers at WebIS have been terrific over the years and responsive to user feedback. They dropped Microsoft like a bad habit when they changed their API and have had iPhone and iPad versions of Pocket Informant out for a few releases now http://www.pocketinformant.com/products_info.php?p_id=pocketinformant_ipad. Their Windows version they no longer support and offer it for free. Pocket Informant comes from excellent roots. Web IS has a number of ways to sync your Apple device with Windows Outlook including using intermediaries such as Google and ToodleDo. They also have developed their own app WebIS Desktop Sync. Check it out towards the bottom of this page http://www.pocketinformant.com/products_info.php?p_id=pocketinformant_iphone&tab _id=sync
I'm exploring this issue myself and this is the way I'm headed. Hope this helps.

As I finally have a solution for my problems with synching calendar from Outlook 2007 with N8, sharing solution here as provided by Nokia Support.
To make a long story short, NOS would simply state "Starting to synch calendar", but would never finish, no errors, nothing.
Follow the instructions carefully. Note, that on my XP system "MDataStore.db3" file was not available. So, it would seem, the XP image we had in use had some remnants of Nokia PC Suite and this interfered with Nokia Ovi Suite (NOS) and Outlook.

Please uninstall and reinstall the tool
here is the steps uninstall .

Ensure that the following files/ folders are deleted after using PC suite cleaner; if not delete it manually!
    a)
Go to Start--> Run and type %temp% and delete the Nokia folders.

Delete all the files in the "Remote Data store" of that particluar IMEI No.

  • Phones that sync with Outlook

    Hi,
Could you please help me choose a low price Nokia Phone that is able to synchronize contacts with Microsoft Outlook?
I posses a Windows Mobile PDA/Phone which will be sent for service (for a long period) and would like a "cheap" replacement that could carry most of my personal information.

If I'm not mistaken entry level phones of Nokia(1XXX, 2XXX) can sync with outlook for contacts & other things. You have to look which one, have other option aside from cable for connectivity like wireless(i.e IR or Bluetooth). Go to Nokia site & compare specs for each one that may suits your need. I heard Nokia just release one with an S40 symbian firmware, don't know if available now & in your place.
After having a backup phone of Nokia, you might get used to its very user friendly menu & swap your non-symbian expensive PDA to a Nokia Smartphone.

  • Error syncing with Outlook 2002

I am currently trying to sync several different types of phones to Outlook 2002. (different PC's all same setup)
We are using PC Suite 6.85, all have XP SP2. I have tried connecting using cable and blutooth on all of these machines to no avail.
The phone connects properly, and I can transfer files on and off as per normal, however when syncing it cannot find the outlook profile. The profile is there and there are no duplicates or anything like that. We do use exchange for mail, howver this has never been a problem previously.
PC Suite asks to create a new profile because it can't find one. When this is done, it creates a new profile separate of exchange server and will not pull any data from the server, even with the correct settings.
Basically, the phones are fine, everything is working fine, except I have no syncing with outlook.
Please help, my phone wont stop ringing about this!

As you can attach pictures here, could you add the picture where PC Suite asks you to create a new profile, I do not recall seing such a question ?
Please also list some f the phone models you are trying to use and what content (contacts, calendar ?) you are trying to sync ?

  • Syncing with Outlook 2002 - Nokia 6233 outlook.ost

Phone is Nokia 6233 syncing with Outlook 2002 on XP and using Exchange Server 2003. I have set the Nokia software to sync every 15 minutes. All users with laptops get a message on screen just before sync saying "Your offline folder file could not be configured .... outlook.ost." You can click through this and it will sync with the PC but I don;t want all my mobile users to have to do this every 15 minutes.
It seems to me that it is trying to sync with the offline folder which is the part that allows mobile users to access Outlook when they are away from the office with up to date as at last time connected to Exchange Server but that is about as far as I have got. Presumably, it is to do with the Send and Receive settings in Outlook as there does not appear to be a solution using Nokia software. Any help if anyone has resolved this would be much appreciated..

I am having similar issues with PC Suite, in particular the PC Sync feature. I am running PC Suite Rev 6.22.82.0 and Outlook 2002 SP3. PC Suite allows me to sync successfully only once after bootup whether in the online of off-line Outlook operating mode. Then if I attempt to sync again I get the error message [Your offline file folder could not be configured....]. When I close down PC Sync, keeping Outlook and the rest of PC Suite running, and then restart PC Sync, I can successfully sync again but only one time. I can sync my Palm with Outlook without similar issues. This tells me that there is a bug in the PC Suite software and not Outlook.
