PC Suite 7.1.40.1 flagged as Malware
Just installing 7.1.40.1 and AVG has flagged SETUPEXTCMB.EXE as malware.
Anyone any ideas why it might do this and what any threats are?
Thanks
D
I'm guessing it is too, but unless you work for Nokia so are you, thats the whole point of malware detection to detect the unexpected, thus why I raised the issue. I'm sure it is a false positive (that said its the first one I've had) but I'd just like to be sure and perhaps get Nokia to sort the issue out with AVG or investigate if their software has been compromised. Better safe than sorry!

Nokia Suite Flagged as Malware by AVG anti-virus
Nokia Suite:
http://www.nokia.com/global/support/product/nokia-pc-suite
Attempted installation on Windows XP, SP3.
AVG (current version) flags the installer as malware and stops the installation process. AVG then forces a cancelation of the installation, and a system restart in order to remove the segments of the installer it thinks is a worm.
I suspect that this is a false positive but the Nokia web site is silent on this problem, i.e it does not guarantee it to be malware or spyware free, and does not recommend turning your AV off in order to install it.
I am not inclined to turn it off.
Nokia, as the developer, needs to contact AVG (Grissoft) to resolve the problem.>> RE: Barking up the wrong tree...
I would humbley disagree.
As you can see from the additional threads, both AVG and Avast are showing the problem, and it is due to a segment of the program that is setting something to run at Windows launch. As postulated by another poster, that is unnecessary.
Applications and AV programs that are incompatible are not uncommon. Firefox regularly declares AVG's add-ons to be incompatible when there is a Firefox update. AVG then issues an update and all is well. This is due to Firefox's date coding for its add-oins and extensions, and not due to a true issue with incompatibility. The adept user of Firefox can over-ride these or simply wait for the updates.
Ideally, the Nokia installer would have a pre-amble asking if you want to have their PC Suite load when Windows Starts as a part of the end-user dialogue. This allows the user to say "no" and that segment of the installer would be skipped, and not trigger the AV program(s).
Alternately, now that this is known, and hopefully someone flags it to Nokia via this forum, appropriate wording can be added to the Nokia web site stating that it may trigger some AV programs and to shut them off. I have also reported this in the AVG user forums as well.
Frankly speaking, the only reason I was attempting to try the Nokia PC Suite was to have an alternative to that gastly bloatware called "Zune."

File Flagged as Malware when Installing Enterprise Pack for Eclipse
Hello,
I was installing Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse 12.1.2.1-kepler when Norton 360 flagged one of the files during installation. I did do two screen captures but I can't find anywhere to upload them so I'll manually post the information here.
Threat:Suspicious.Cloud.7.EP
c:\oracle\middleware\oracle_home\oracle_common\jdk\jre\bin\javacpl Removed.
My question is, what should I do now. A dialog box came up and said that "This program might not have installed correctly". It gives me an option to reinstall but I'm afraid it might happen again.
Any suggestions, or if this is the wrong place to post this, I would appreciate anyone showing me where.
I am running Windows 7(SP1) 32-bit, and I downloaded all the patches that Microsoft sent out via Windows update a couple of days ago.
Thanks! You will need to disable Norton and re-install WLS/OEPE. May also want to file a report with Norton since their software is sending up false positives.

Virus 'flagged' file in Windows 7 Bios Update...HELP !!
I just finished updating some Windows 7 Bios files....one of the files: C:\PROGRAM FILES\LENOVO\SYSTEM UPDATE\UNCSERVER.EXE" was flagged as Malware by my AVG Virus program and I put it in the Virus Vault.
Then the installation of that update showed it couldn't find that flagged file and so cancelled that update.
I continued on with the other updates and installed them, BUT I wonder if that file is really Malware and whether to restore it and try that update again.
I don't want to infect my computer with a virus, but I wonder if a Windows Update would contain a contaminated file...
HELP !!!Hello,
You did not say what version of the signature database is being used by your antivirus software, or the name of the threat it detected, so it is difficult to tell for certain, but I uploaded the UNCSERVER.EXE file from my ThinkPad W510 to VirusTotal, a multi-engine virus scanning service, and it reported the file as being clean. Report here.
I suspect it is a false positive alarm, but you should check with your antivirus vendor's own technical support department to confirm.

We are using MS System Center Configuration Manager 2012 R2. We are planning to replace McAfee with System Center End Point Protection.
Furthermore, following McAfee software features / add-on are being used in our environment;
AV for Servers and Workstations
Spyware
DLP for USB blocking
Move for virtualized environment
NAS scanning (CAVA)
ICAP for Isilon Scanning
Exchange server scanner
Integration of end point security solution with Microsoft NAP is required to monitor and ensure latest definition file on clients.
Our present Mcafee setup has central management server and master repository which pulls dat file from web and copy it to distributed repositories located on remote branches. This existing solution also provides capability to
manage outbreaks and rollback definition file in case any malfunction.
Please suggest and share your experience in this regards.
Regards, Syed Fahad AliFirst, you should read the TechNet documentation as it contains most of what you want:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh508781.aspx
Also, keep in mind SCEP is not a one-to-one mapping for most other security suites. SCEP is simply an anti-malware tool (anti-virus, spyware, anti-malware) . Other security capabilities are part of different products offerings in the Microsoft stack where
applicable. Also, Microsoft is *not* a security company so they don't offer comprehensive security for your network or non-Microsoft products like a NAS or SAN.
USB blocking can be achieved using group policy.
SCEP is an agent based product -- at this time, Microsoft (to my knowledge) discounts any advantages of agentless AV and feels agentless AV is not sufficient.
Microsoft doesn't really care about your NAS or Isilon.
Exchange scanning is done via Exchange online protection:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/email-security-microsoft-exchange-online-protection-FX103763969.aspx
NAP is a deprecated as of Server 2012 R2.
Central management is provided by System Center 2012 Configuration Manager.

com.apple.driver.IOPlatformPlAgreed, Kaskersky has been causing issues lately and a always on anti-virus is not needed as there is almost zero Mac based malware and before anti-virus companies can get around to issuing a update, Apple does.
If you need to flag Windows malware infected files, use the free ClamXav, it's run as you need it so it's not buggering up the machine.
If your still having issues after uninstalling, then run through this list of fixes

The first thing you need to do is take a look at the third-party kernel extensions (kexts) that you've got installed. You've got the same version of Parallels that I do, and I'm not having kernel panics, so the Parallels kexts are unlikely to be the problem. However, I notice you have Avast installed, and I strongly recommend against Avast. I haven't heard any reports of kernel panics when using it, but I have heard many reports of it causing false positives, and even helped someone recently who had had a legit system file flagged as malware by Avast. I would recommend you uninstall Avast, using whatever uninstaller is provided by the software (ie, don't just drag any Avast apps to the trash, that won't get rid of the kexts).
If removing Avast makes you nervous, due to threat of malware infection, see my Mac Malware Guide. It includes recommendations for other anti-virus software, as well as information about the limitations and proper use of anti-virus software.
If removing Avast doesn't help, try uninstalling Parallels. Removing it won't affect your virtual machines, and you can always reinstall it later. -

IndexI am not quite sure what either of you are after, but if you hit the "Documentation" link on OTN you will find the documentation, such as the above list, for almost all of Oracle products. Most are available online in HTML format or PDF and some have a part number so that they can be ordered.
The 10g Developer Suite Documentation is here: http://otn.oracle.com/documentation/dev10g.html

Error invoking Oracle Application Adapter part of SOA Suite 11g
We are using Oracle application adapter from BPEL process manager ( SOA Suite 11g) to call PLSQL:OE_ORDER_PUB:PROCESS_ORDER (EBS R12).
The call returns error : "<ns0:X_MSG_DATA
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:nil="">FND
FND_AS_UNEXPECTED_ERROR N PKG_NAME OE_Order_PVT N PROCEDURE_NAME Lines N
ERROR_TEXT ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: NULL index table key
value </ns0:X_MSG_DATA>"
The same order gets created from PLSQL but fails while trying from BPEL through Oracle APPS adapter. The dbg file at the EBS end is given below:

Firefox.exe suddenly only 2 KB (and IE 1 KB) & flagged up as malware
On January 13 (2015), I was surprised to find my Kaspersky anti-virus software (Pure 3.0 at the time) flagging up the following as malware (trojan):
firefox.exe C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe HEUR:Trojan.WinLNK.StartPage.gena
iexplore.exe C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe HEUR:Trojan.WinLNK.StartPage.gena
eBay Sidebar for Firefox.lnk C:\Users\David\Desktop\eBay Sidebar for Firefox.lnk HEUR:Trojan.WinLNK.StartPage.gena
I followed the instructions to quarantine and re-boot. No problem. After re-boot, I could not access Firefox and discovered that it had indeed been quarantined - along with IE (which I rarely use) and eBay Sidebar for Firefox (which I haven't used in a long time). On restoring these, they are again identified as malware. Further investigation revealed that firefox.exe was only 2 KB in size - and IE was only 1KB.
Kaspersky advised to upgrade to Total Security, which I did and this stopped identifying the files as malware. Full virus checks, including from safe mode, revealed nothing. Running a suite of recommended anti-malware programs did pick up a limited number of bits and pieces (and which I deleted) that Kaspersky didn't, although my research on the net points to them all being the kind of things that produce unwanted adverts on browsers .... not anything that would wipe or rename programs (I didn't see any unwanted ads, though, possibly because of my settings in Firefox, Kaspersky and NoScript).
Kaspersky feels firefox.exe was corrupted (well at 2 KB, it's certainly not right) - although what corrupted it is another question. All other files in \Mozilla Firefox seem to be there, and I have no issues with any other software or files on my PC (just these three). Yet the same thing happened to IE at the same time. That makes a failing hard drive very unlikely indeed - but it does make me suspicious that there was *something* that deliberately did this, which Kaspersky did not pick up. However it would be unusual for decent anti-virus software like Kaspersky to miss something. Further, the same issue should have been occurring widely around the same time, because if everyone around the world were losing their browsers it would have made the news - not to mention advertising malware that corrupts both browsers being rather self-defeating!!
Incidentally, the desktop shortcuts have been replaced by the default Windows icon for programs that don't have a custom-made shortcut. And clicking on what was the Firefox shortcut opens a DOS box, that closes immediately; IE does the same but a "16 bit MS DOS Subsystem" error box appears (those were the days!) with:
C:\Users\Public\Desktop\Internet Explorer.lnk
The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.
CS: 123f IP:012d OP: 8f af 9f 6e ba Choose 'Close' to terminate this application.
[Clicking 'close' or 'ignore' both close the DOS box - and that's it. No virus or anything similar is picked up and four anti-malware programs I'm using now show my system to be clean]
So my questions are:
(1) Any thoughts as to what happened?
(2) I need to get Firefox working again. Can I simply copy firefox.exe from another machine and replace the existing 2 KB firefox.exe, and everything should be fine, as it was before .... or is it not as simple as that?? (I understand Firefox keeps preferences, etc., in separate files).
Thanks in advance for any comments.
DaveSorry you have had this problem
It my be possible and work if you overwrite the problem ''firefox.exe''
However that could cause problems and the usual solution would be to download and install Firefox again from an official site, and using a clean install involving deleting the existing program files. (CARE leave the Firefox profile folders and files alone. In fact it would be worthwhile, as a ''belts braces'' precaution; locating and backing them up first )
* See [[Firefox keeps crashing at startup#w_try-a-clean-install]]'''_try-a-clean-install'''
* [[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]
** [[Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data#w_finding-your-profile-without-opening-firefox]]'''_finding-your-profile-without-opening-firefox'''
As for what happened, you have given a well reasoned and intelligent summary but after the event it is going to be almost impossible to pin it down. Sometimes AV does flag false positives especially temporarily &/Or if not fully updated.
===Clean Reinstall ===
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from [https://www.mozilla.org mozilla.org] (or choose the download for your operating system and language from [https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ this page]) and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and click the close button [[Image:Close 29]]).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
#*'''Windows:'''
#**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
#**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found [[Troubleshoot and diagnose Firefox problems#w_5-reinstall-firefox|here]].
<b>WARNING:</b> Do not use a third party uninstaller as part of this process. Doing so could permanently delete your [[Profiles|Firefox profile]] data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. <u>These cannot be easily recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device!</u> -
Is my test suite configured properly?
I am building db-4.6.19 from source on Novell SuSE Linux 9.2 on ia64 (Intel Itanium2) hardware, then running the test suite with tclsh 8.4. Here’s my configuration line:
cd build_unix
../dist/configure prefix=/home/mark/WORKAREAS/webplatform/build/dev/20070924 with-test --with-tcl=/usr/lib
I run make and that goes well, then I run the standard test in tclsh via:
echo 'info tclversion; source ../test/test.tcl; run_std; exit' | tclsh; tail ALL.OUT
Most of the tests pass, but the tail of ALL.OUT is at db-4.6.19/build_unix/ALL.OUT (below) produces many error messages for a few tests. They seem to be variations on the same issue, and I’m not sure how to fix it at this point – can someone point me to help? It appears that a command isn't parsing properly.
I'm not sure how to troubleshoot further, it seems to be a syntax error.
Thanks!

Need API for checking Employeement Flag
Hi Team ,
I have terminated an employee on today's date and the employeement flag is "Y" for the whole day.
Its not effecting the employeement at the time of terminate.
Is there any work flow dependence or its not Time Stamp dependent.?
Is there any API to get the Employeement Status Flag?
Thanks In Advance,
AjitYou should probably ask this in the eBusiness Suite forum.

PC Suite 6.86.9.0 - Error resetting the unread fla...
Entering the PC suite Nokia Phone Browser inbox will reset the unread flag for ALL messages on the phone. This shouldn't happen before selecting each of the SMS-messages!?
The unread flag seems to be correct entering the Phone Browser, but the flags have already been reset on Phone.
Pressing the refresh-button and the unread flags are now reset in the Phone Browser also reflecting what happened on the Phone.
Previous releases of PC suite: This didn't happen, which also is the correct way of handling the messages.

Maybe it's fixed on next version.
