PC Suite 7 - Music Recognition

HELP PLEASE
Hopefully Im not being really stupid but I upgraded PC suite to 7 when I recently went from a n95 to n95 8gb usually when Im transferring music I put the CD in and music recognition software flashes up and tells me the artist, song titles etc, this is not happening in 7 just title 1 title 2 etc.  Is there a fix for this?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Finally an answer, for some unknown reason the boffins at Nokia have decided to remove gracenote recognition sofware from the latest version of Nokia meaning that you have to go round the world and back to add new music to your phone
Solution - I down graded to 7.1.18 which froze everytime I tried to open Music Manager there in lies yet another problem so I down graded yet again to 7.0.9.2 which is working a treat even though it did take an age to find a downloadable version.
Why they have changed this key component in the PC Suite is beyond me
Hopefully this post helps other peeps - apologies but i didnt save the site  I downloaded version 9.2 from so happy hunting

I can't find any music recognition software. I've heard that Shazam sould be available to platforms other than IPhone. Does anyone know of anything like Shazam for the Palm (Centro)?
    Post relates to: Centro (AT&T)

It comes pre-installed on your Centro (at least, the AT&T version). It's the application called MusicID.

  • Problem with n95 pc suite music manager

when i load up pc suite and click on music manager to transfer music files from my pc to my phone it shows up for about 10 secs and automatically closes by itself, every other one is fine except install applications which does the same thing but i can update my contacts, view images, messages and the lot apart from music manager and applications, so basically i cant transfer any music on to my phone now plus i even tried uninstalling the old version and installing the updated version of pc suite but its still same thing.

if you use file transfer...it should be on your memory card where the files should be save...and if you are using n95 8GB...you can then try to move the files from memory to your phone's internal memory...but i think..music player is smart enough to display all the music files transferred to your mobile...not unless file is not supported...that's the case with my n73ME..all music file i transferred can all be seen in the music player..i suggest you just refresh library...or move the files to folder where other music files visible in the music library...good luck
some aint missing a good thing til its gone...

  • Ovi Player / Ovi Suite Music not added to library

    Ok more weird Ovi annoyances:
Ovi Music / Player does not add certain songs from my iTunes folders (all Non DRM m4a files) to its library, neither automatically nor does it let me add them manually.
However, if transferred to the handset (N97) manually they will play fine. They also play fine when opened via File|Open in Ovi Suite or Player.
    I first noticed it with
    e:\Users\Max\Music\iTunes\Music\Israel Kamakawiwo'ole\Over the Rainbow - Single\ Over The Rainbow.m4a
Which I cannot add to the library in any way.
Ok,  I thought, Ovi trips up on special characters, but
    e:\Users\Max\Music\iTunes\Music\The Von Bondies\Pawn Shoppe Heart\C'mon C'mon.m4a
e:\Users\Max\Music\iTunes\Music\The Men They Couldn't Hang\How Green is the Valley\The Ghosts of Cable Street.m4a
are both added just fine, while
    e:\Users\Max\Music\iTunes\Music\The Von Bondies\Pawn Shoppe Heart\Not That Social.m4a
can again, not be added in any way.
Al right then, has to be that Ovi trips up over legal Windows path names that are too long for Ovi.
    But
    e:\Users\Max\Music\iTunes\Music\Neon Trees\Animal-Single\Aniimal.m4a
can again not be added in any way while
    e:\Users\Max\Music\iTunes\Music\Orchestral Manoeuvres In the Dark\Messages - Greatest Hits\1-03 Enola Gay (2003 Remaster).m4a
    is added just fine.
Sometimes when trying to add an album, only certain titles are not added, while the rest of the album is.
There seems to be no pattern whatsoever to this behavior, since it's not path lengths or special characters tha keep songs from bein added, it's also nit file type related as there some MP3s i can't add as well.
Note that M$ Media Player 11 has no issues adding the same bits to its own library.
    I run Win 7 Pro 32.
Ever seen a black lemon? They turn black when they rot. My N97 is black. 'nuff said

    It's getting weirder and weirder
E:\Users\Max\Music\iTunes\Music\Heinz Rudolf Kunze\Die Gunst der Stunde
was successfully imported including the first track
    E:\Users\Max\Music\iTunes\Music\Heinz Rudolf Kunze\Die Gunst der Stunde\01 Hunderttausend Rosen.m4a
    on another PC.
So the failures seem completely random, which would not be so tragic if you got a second chance, which you don't.
I'd still like to know what I need to delete to get rid of the entire music library. I just need OVI-Music / Suite to get some of my music to my phone and this should not be so tedious!
Ovi Suite seems to sotre stuff all over the place and you don't really know what's what, which makes fixing problems very frustrating.
iTunes keeps its stuff transparently in the same place, but then again I never had any such weird  problems with it in the past 5 years.

  • Help, the pc suite music program shuts dowm after ...

Hej, I have a very big probelm, I can't transfer music to my N73, because just when I open the the 'music transferring program', it shuts down! And no matter if I try to play a song or choose another option, it's like it just ignores it and closes down..
    What should I do?

Try if you could use the file manager of PCsuites instead. Browse your PC/Latop where that music files are, then copy it to your phone music directory, preferably digital & see if it does not close down.
Knowledge not shared is knowledge wasted!
If you find it helpfull, it's not hard to click the STAR..

  • E7 Music Sync no longer works!

After a recent update, my music library will no longer sync, nor does Ovi suite see any files on my E7 (which are really there). After attempting to sync, it will come up with the message "failure to sync". Oddly enough, contacts etc all sync without a problem and there is no problem listening to the music on the E7. I can copy music directly from Windows Mediaplayer, but that will cause the album not to show up in the albums on the E7 (though they are accessible through the file manager and then all works again.
    Clues anyone?

    Hi mavh007,
Since you have problems in both Ovi Suite and after soft reset, I would suggest that the problem is in MTP connection. Have you checked this thread
In that discussion thread (page 2) people have deleted folder called  "10208913" from phone's c:\private and/or e:\private folders. Those folders seem to have some MTP archive/database files so if those are corrupted Ovi Player cannot find any content from the phone. That would also explain why your Ovi Suite music transfers fail.
Could you check this and report back.
    Regards,
    haZey

  • Nokia N8 music transfer problem

    Hi!
I bought yesterday Nokia N8 and I tried to start music player with some default music. But there was no default music in there...
Today, I've installed Ovi Suite and with Suite I send some music to N8 (USB connection, Ovi Suite type of connection) and Ovi Suite said it sends music to the device but N8 constantly show 'Transferring music' and I shut down it.
After reset I didn't see any music in N8 Music Player, but in Ovi Suite I saw some obviously default music and music that I've send (??) ... OK.... I decided to delete everything when I did it... then I saw music in the device in Music Player (one song Summertown) and I tried to delete it but it was mission impossible...
I tried to find it through Windows Explorer (Win 7) but I only found folders of my music... empty, but there's no Summertime song there....
Then I tried to connect to laptop in multimedia transfer mode (till then I was connected in Ovi Suite mode) and then I started to Ovi Suite but when I click on Music tab I got message in Ovi Suite:
    "Music initialization failed"
"Unable to initialize the music service on the device"
Please help me, how to move music to N8 in way that N8 recognized it? And how to remove that Summertime song??
Is only solution to reinstall Symbian?
Bye... I hope to hear someone soon!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thank you!
    It was helpful...
Main problem was that I didn't refresh my music collection on N8 .... I knew that I'm supposed to do that... but... I didn't see refresh button ...
Problem with constant transferring still remains in Ovi Suite mode, but I haven't that kind of problem in Mass Storage mode...
Maybe device should be more straightforward... For now it is complicated ...
Bye, thank you all for advices!

  • 6500 classic problems Transfering music from PC

I got this phone yesterday and today attempted to transfer a couple of MP3s from my PC to the phone using the USB lead.
This would not work as apparently the phone doesn't have any memory, this I find hard to believe as the phone only has the factory apps on at present and when checking the memory status the phone still has over 900mb
    Can anybody help?
    Cheers

My guess is that you are trying to transfer your songs to the phone memory instead of the card memory. I guess because not everyone has a memory card, the PC Suite music transfer software defaults to using phone memory.
Phone memory is a few 10s of MB whereas the card can be 2GB or more.
It sounds like you're using the Transfer Music option in PC Suite. Unfortunately, I don't have a working version of PC Suite on my work machine so I can't give you the exact options, however you need to connect the phone and go into options. Somewhere in the options related to the phone there is a target directory. You need to change this to be a directory on the memory card, preferably:
    [card]:\Sounds\Digital
An alternative - which will also give you much faster transfer rates - is to connect using the USB cable in Data Transfer mode (you should be prompted when you connect the cable, alternatively you can change this from within the Connection menu options). The memory card should then appear as an external drive in Windows Explorer and you can simply drag and drop music files to the above directory.

  • Loosing track info when transferring music

I've suddenly started loosing track info when transferring music.
I can take a cd, copy it to My Collection (M4A, Mobile Optimised) and all the info is displayed ok. When I transfer it to my phone (N70) the track data is lost and all music is dumped into the Unknown Artist folder, yet it still shows ok in the phone folder on Music Manager on the PC. Bizarrely, previous tracks that have the correct Artist/Album etc on the phone do not show correctly in the phone folder in Music Manager.
Any clues as to what's going on? I've used Nokia Manager many times before without this problem.

    Nokia Music Manager Version 2

    Hi,
Please read the help topics of Music Manager which may help to resolve your issues (Hope So )
To rip a CD to your phone
Connect your phone to the PC.
    Open Nokia Music Manager.
Click Options > Settings... and in the Conversion tab, select the desired conversion format and bit rate. The conversion format to be used depends on the phone model you are using. Not all phone models support the M4A conversion format. If you are uncertain about which format is supported by your phone model, it is recommended that you select the AAC format.
Still in Settings, go to the phone tab, and click Browse... to select whether you want to rip the CD to the phone's memory or to a memory card if inserted. The folder can be located in the phone memory, hard disk or a memory card depending on the phone model you are using.
Click OK to close the Settings dialog.
Insert a CD into the CD or DVD drive of your PC.
Go to the CD view and click Options > Get CD Information if available to retrieve information about the CD from the music recognition service (hosted and owned by Gracenote). Using the service requires an Internet connection. If your phone model does not support the music recognition service, you can edit the CD information manually. For more information, see Editing track information.
Highlight one or more tracks you want to rip to your phone.
    Click Copy to phone.
Nokia Music Manager converts the tracks according to the settings you defined above in Step 3 and copies the tracks to your phone.
    Tip:
In addition to ripping tracks from a CD to your phone, you can copy the same tracks to the My Collection view. To do this, click Options > Settings... and in the General tab, select the When copying tracks to phone, also copy them to My Collection option.
You can set the CD view to open automatically whenever you insert a CD into the CD or DVD drive of the PC. To do this, click Options > Settings... and in the General tab, select the Automatically open disc view when a CD or DVD is inserted to CD/DVD drive option.
If your PC is running Windows XP or Windows Vista, you can open Nokia Music Manager from the Windows AutoPlay dialog when you insert an audio CD into the CD or DVD drive of your PC.

  • Music Manager "freezes" then errors

Hi all. I have a brand new 6288 phone, trying to connect to Win XP Home SP2 computer using the supplied CA-53 USB cable. PC Suite in box (older version) installed properly, phone connected fine, but trying to transfer one MP3 file (with auto conversion turned on) to phone froze at about 30% into the copy. It sat there for about 5 minutes before a pop-up window with "unknown error" appeared.
Tried with a number of other MP3 files, same result as above. Installed latest v6.83.14.1 from Nokia web site, same result as above.
I've successfully connected the phone in "data" mode, and Windows explorer can see it, and I can drag and drop MP3 files to the phone, so there's no problem with the connection, cable, etc. The problem appears to be in the PC Suite / Music Manager software.
Anyone have any ideas?? This is really annoying...

  • MP3 Music library on computer has DRM problems wit...

I have the OVI Suite 3.0.0.284 installed on my PC. Before installing it , I already have a large library of MP3 ripped from my own personal collection of CD.
For a few weeks the OVI Suite Music library was find. One day each track is now displaying a warning sign and I am unable to play or transfer to my 6750.
What can I do to fix the situation and prevent it from happening again.
    Thanks,
    Archie

I am replying to my own posting. I upgraded from OVI Suite 3.0.0.248 to 3.0.0.290 and it fixed the problem.
It is illogical that when a new version comes out that the music library becomes unusable by Ovi Suite.
    Any explanation?
    Thanks,

  • New forum version: better search, quick reply, new...

    Hi all,
I'm happy to let you know that we're now using the latest version of our forum software.
You've probably noticed that there's a few design updates and changes. We in the Discussions team would love to get your feedback on any changes - but please digest the design for a few days before you decide whether you like it or not
This new version enables a lot of new features that we will be rolling out in the next months, the most important being a mobile-optimized version. The target for that is in April.
The bad news is that we are having some small compatibility problems on some of the websites where this forum is available, and some of the features don't work properly on them. On some, everything works pretty much as intended. See below for details.
Here are some of the most important changes:
    1) Improved search:
The forum search is now giving you suggestions about threads that match your keywords. Try it out and see if you can now find things faster.
    2) Better visibility for RSS:
This is not really an update, as it's always been possible to create a RSS feed for any keyword - but now it's easier to subscribe as there's a RSS icon in the search results. This was one of my pet peeves in the previous versions and I'm happy to see this great little feature now getting the promotion it deserves.
    3) Quick reply:
You can now reply to a post directly from the thread view. Due to the problems we have on some Nokia sites, this is disabled by default - but you can turn it on for yourself from Edit my Info -> Preferences -> Display -> Turn on Quick reply (last item on the list).
Note that if you use this forum via the Nokia websites for Europe / UK / Australia or USA, using quick reply gives you an error message. But the post was still made and a page refresh will show it. If you click on "post" several times, you'll make duplicate posts.
Nokia sites in Asia (nokia-asia.com) / Ireland and MEA (mea.nokia.com) do not have this problem and quick reply works better there. You can use any of these sites to access this forum.
Also, giving kudos on those four problem sites gives an unnecessary error message. Just refresh the page and you'll see that the kudos was in fact given.
We're sorry about these errors and try to get them resolved soonest for all sites.
    4) Get an email when someone sends you a private message
This is pretty obvious. Too bad the email does not show the message content - or who sent it - so you'll have to login to the forum to read it, but at least you'll know you have a new PM.
    5) Personalization options
You can now customize how this forum looks and change your preferences such as how many posts appear per page and so on. I haven't tried all the combinations so I don't even know how much freedom there is, but just try it out for yourself.
There are a few acute issues that we are aware of, such as
    - the new green kudos button might be difficult to understand for new users
    - some fonts may be too small or to big
    - Google Chrome does not show the site correctly
    - using a phone to access the forum gives a messy design
and we are working on these issues with the forum software provider.
But I would love to hear your overall feedback and any ideas or complaints you may have!
    Best regards,
vandelay + the Nokia Discussions team
I wrote all my posts from 2005-2011 as an "Admin" for this community. I still work for Nokia as an external consultant, so my rank in all posts is now "Employee".

    Hi,
I am a new member of this forum as well and spent a lot of time looking for more information about the problems or improvements to my specific phones. I have been searching for a place to drop some suggestions but couldn't find any. Just like MartinMiller35 suggested a few posts before, it would be lot easier and faster when the mobile product sections would break down more in to sort by device and then into the existing sections of software/suites/ music/video`s/ maps/applications etc.
I also agree with fender77, it would make such a difference as people would describe the problem in addition to their device better. It might be helpful if any solution working fine for phone "X " could be placed into other sections where the people are having the same problems and crying out for a solution, not aware that in another post or maybe even in a different category there is already an answer for their phone "y".
To avoid more (misplaced) threads, posts I suggest there could be a "tips and tricks or how to" section per phone, like the "Top Questions for..". Maybe the moderators (or anybody else who has rights can copy same solution in the multiple sections.
For example I`ve had problems getting my maps working on my "old" phone, I`ve been searching on "N95 8GB maps" didn't`t get me any recent solution or didn't describe the problems or state (latest info re fw or compatibility). After again a different search I`ve found a working solution but under "Ovi and Mobile Media", "Maps, Navigation and GPS..
I saw a header that described "my problem" but it was a different phone, even from a different series, it was a solution for the Eseries (to be precise it`s the post E75 Maps updater error cannot get enough information about the phone..." ) so I started reading, not sure if I was wasting time. After a few pages I still wasn't`sure if it would also work on my phone. It would have been a lot easier and I would be more certain of a working solution if it had shown directly under the section for my phone. I know the solution is applicable for a lot other phone`s, just adding the solution into those phone`s section could reduce the number of misplaced or even frustrated posts.
I have been going through a lot of posts but hesitated to use or comment or answer simply just because I`m not sure if the (menu)settings or OS, fw etc. are same or compatible and I wouldn't want to misinform anybody, cause any damage and simply don`t have the time to investigate other devices specs further.
Again for example I read about problems with N97 mini or the N97 but again I don`t know if they apply to mine N97 as I`ve had a "newer" one where a lot of "the old" problems seem to be more or less resolved. Now after having 3 N97`s returned to the store in 3 weeks time!! I have a right to change to a different device so I`m searching again. It would make my search a lot easier if i could see all the problems and solutions for the N97, the N97 mini and N900 at their own section  (to have a better comparison in case I decide to change the device, new N97 is expected to arrive to store next Monday, until then I`m searching/comparing).
I`m also looking into nokia messaging and HTML solutions for my N95 8GB and future Nokia device (guess it will be another new, hopefully working flawlessly N97) maybe there is already an answer but I don`t know cause it is under the E72 or X6 solutions..
I`m sorry if this isn't the or my place to make suggestions or if I suggested something that has already been used in the past and wasn't working at all.
This forum has helped me better than the Nokia site or the Nokia Care and I hope it will keep helping us.
    Keep up the good work!!
Thanks for taking the time to read

  • Support for itunes plus file transfer / playback

The lastest Nokia Media Transfer application for the mac allows the transfer of itunes plus (.m4a extension) files, these are purchased itunes tracks without DRM. From what I understand apple have modified the tag data on these files which prevents them from being played on a Nokia phone, the Mac transfer application will process these files to modify this data and allow the tracks to be played.
My question is, will windows users get a similar application, to avoid the use of third party / manual operations, to allow these files to be transferred directly from itunes to my Nokia in the same manner as the mac application?
Its usually the mac being the un-supported OS but appears to be windows in this case !

yeah, Apple have their own way of working with aac/mp4 tags. They add extra bits that other players, unless programmed to read, won't understand, and at worst they won't play the file at all. There is another standard, the Nero standard, and they are similar but the Nero version is more universally recognised. There isn't an ID3v1/ID3v2 for MP4 files, yet. Although, like I said, since 90% of the world uses the Apple method of tagging, that is close enough to being a standard.
It's not that Nokia don't want you using iTunes, or like you said, they would force Mac users to use a Nokia music program. I think it is just that the whole "PC Suite" philosophy is geared around the Windows Media Player way of doing and tagging things. And since WMP doesn't recognise m4a files, neither does the Nokias. To get around this, instead of fixing their mp4 codecs to recognise Apple formatting, they made a transfer program that swaps the tags to a Nokia-understandable format. Which is just silly.
I've tried the Suite Music Manager, I have. Honest opinion - use Windows Media player instead. BUT I don't want to use that either, I have a huge collection ripped/catalogued in iTunes, and I shouldn't have to go about fiddling with tags and swapping software/workflows just so my phone can play it. I don't need to with MP3 so why should I need to with AAC/MP4? It would only take a few lines of code in the phone's AAC codec for it to read these tags, surely thats easier than making transfer programs and Music Managers?
The arguement "Nokia want you buying from the Nokia store rather than iTMS" doesn't hold water either, because I'm never buying from either, as long as I can still buy CDs from the shop.
Like I said, this whole thing may be fixed with the new N95-8 etc. If its not, and Nokia have no intention of fixing it, then my next phone will be an iPhone. I don't WANT an iPhone, but this whole thing is a deal-breaker for me.

    Hi Jerry,
D.I means direct injection. This is box used on stage to connect your instrument or microphone directly in the PA (that means you don´t need an amp). You can lift the signal from ground to cancel the hum or noises catch by your input or your computer.
2 sorts of DI boxes: Active DI (direct) boxes especially designed to suit musical instruments with piezo pickups.
    Have a look on: http://www.leonaudio.com.au/active.htm
or passive: for the other types of pickups, please look at: http://www.leonaudio.com.au/passive.htm for further explanations.
The box should cost between 50 and 100 €/$.

  • Playlist problems on 6126

I cannot create, edit, or modify playlists directly on the phone, nor using PC suite. In the PC suite Music Manager, I can select tracks (with the check mark in the box next to each one) installed on the memory card on the phone , but when I select 'create new playlist' from the File menu, the check marks are cleared, and no prompt is given for a name for the playlist. How can I manage playlists?
Also, my software version is 04.28. When I check to see if an update is available, the 6126 is not listed, or the code check comes back saying no updates are available. However, I have seen a post specifying version 05.something for 6126. Is an update available?

I've had a Creative Zen V Plus for a couple of years and only bought the Zen MX because the battery on my old Zen got to where it doesn't last but a couple hours. I use my mp3 primarily for recorded books and have always used Windows Media Player to create playlists and have never had a problem with getting playlists transferred to the Zen V Plus. Now you're telling me I have to add each individual track to build a playlist directly onto the player? I don't think so!? Some of the audio books are 20+ discs with more than 20 tracks per disc!?
So, there's no way to easily build a playlist of umpteen tracks and transfer it directly to the player? What a bunch of hogwash!? I had wanted to stay with a Creative product because I liked the set-up of the Zen V Plus so well but I'm highly disappointed so far with the Zen MX.
