PC Suite: Exporting messages in Vista
Hello all,
I like to export my messages as CSV to my computer for reference.
I've used PC Suite before in XP, where exporting messages in PC Suite was no problem.
Now in Vista, I cannot export any messages, because the whole menu bar is simply gone. So no access to any "special" file operations. Not even with the latest Vista-compatible version of PC Suite (v 6.84.10.3).
The only way to do something with a message is right clicking on it, which gives you options such as open, delete, copy and paste. But no export of course.
Anyone out there with a solution?
It'd be greatly appreciated.Message Edited by radiance9 on 26-Sep-200709:40 PM
you can backup the sms to a .nbu file then use this tool to convert all sms files to html, txt, vmg or excel xls format (xls can then be saved as a .csv).
What's the law of the jungle?

How do you export messages from Ovi Suite?
As the title says, how do you export messages from Ovi Suite?
I know how to export messages from Nokia PC Suite, but it doesn't seem to be possible in the new Nokia Ovi Suite.
Here is how I would do it in the Nokia PC Suite.
1. I click the Messages icon to open Nokia Communication Center.
2. I click on the Messages option on the left pane to view only messages.
3. In the main window I mark the messages I want to export.
4. Then I go to File menu and chose Export.
5. Choose destination folder and I'm all set to export my messages from my Nokia.
I can chose between the formats CSV and VMG (vMessage) for export. If more than one message is marked only the CSV format is available. But what you can do to export several messages in the VMG format is to mark them all in the main window and press CTRL+C or right click and chose Copy to copy them all to RAM memory. Then all you have to do is create an empty folder on the desktop and paste them in there by pressing CTRL+V or right clicking and chosing Paste.
That's all there is to it, using Nokia PC Suite. So how do you do this in Nokia Ovi Suite? You don't, right?
And this **bleep** Ovi Suite is supposed to replace PC Suite?
Thank God I won't be needing neither of them much longer. I am switching to Android and HTC. Good luck with Ovi, the Ovi Player, the Ovi Suite, the PC Suite, the Symbian, the S60, the Symbian^1 (S60 5th edition), the Symbian^3, the Symbian^4 and what not.I believe OVI took a step in the right direction with this option. I also believe it was made available due to the fact that OVI Suite cannot take a huge number of messages altogether. This option was made available so that the messages could be backed up.
However, I'd like to suggest the following, if possible.
1. Make Nokia OVI Suite be able to handle a huge number of messages.
2. Have the option to export only selected messages.

PC suite export/import breaks SMS messages
Nokia PC suite 6.85.14.1
Windows XP SP2
Phone 6500 classic connected either by Bluetooth or USB
just updated 6500c to 4.84 firmware
an sms message is received and is viewable fine in Inbox
using the phone I move it to Archive, it is still OK
I then export it to PC (drag-n-drop to a folder)
I delete the message in the phone and import (drag-n-drop) back to Archive
The message is there but it does not show sender name (instead I see the date in the header)
When I open the message and click message details, I can see that
To: field contains the actual sender, while Sender: has (no address)
I tried various things including messing with vmg content (putting same TEL: field to both VCARD entries), but on the import to 6500c, it is the same story - as if the import swaps the sender with receiver and clears the sender field
Please also note that at all times, when I view the messages in PC Suite (phone browser) they show correct sender field, I just need to see the same on the actual phone
Is there something I am missing?
Generally I just need to copy old sms messages from 7260, but when importing them they break as described above. I then tried to export a "6500" message and import it back - with same result. So it appears to be a PC Suite issue rather than anythingal_lea, thanks, I already thought about that, but as I said to exlucde any incompatibility issues within vmg I tried a export/import of a "native" sms freshly received on the 6500, and it gives the same problem.
I also tried changing versions to 3.0 manually in the vmg with no luck.
I'm starting to think the message is actually ok, but it's probably the 6500c software that doesn't display them right. When I try to reply to "broken" message, it does go to sender, even though he is not displayed as one
it looks like PC suite export or import strips the empty to: VCARD from inside the vmg, which is fine by the standards but 6500c doesnt like -
Nokia Suite - managing messages
I connect to my phone and am able to export messages to a CSV file. I would like to be able to import those messages into Nokia Suite without connecting the phone again. Is there a way?
Don't you get the option to 'Import Text Messages' as seen in the attachment ? Haven't connected any phone to get this..
BTW, hope you are using the latest version of the Nokia Suite ...

I am already big fan of yours and using mail to many Addin from years from word 2007 to Word 2010 :) and still loving it and I use it for access re-authorization from Lines for application accesses . I tried and finally got understanding of the Extract to
mail Addin and after tweaking excel - Text To columns and other few things finally i was able to get the required data - from morning to now :) I am happy to see your provided guidance
Thanks alot - by the way why your Mail to many add-in is so slow now these days :) previous versions usually help me send 1000 emails in 10 minutes now it takes long time :) -
Error Message During Vista Install W/ Bootcamp
I crashed my original vista installation, so I am trying to get it up and running again. After deleting the old partition and creating a new one with BCA in Leopard, I get this error message during vista installation
Windows cannot install required files. The file does not exist. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and then restart installation. Error Code: 0x80070005
I thought maybe it was My Vista DVD, so I borrowed a friends, and it did the same thing. This is on a Macbook PRO purchased a little over a month ago.
Please HELP! I need my vista installation up and running for work!"but when detecting hard drives, nothing shows up in the list."
I don't really understand that statement as without any drives showing up how were you able to even start the install?
At any rate, during your first installment, the one that succeded, do you remember which partition it was that you Formated with the windows installer? When you use Boot Camp to partition and install the windows os, BC sets the volume name to BOOTCAMP. As far as I know this is the one that you must use for your windows os. Before you can install windows though, you must use the windows installer to format it to NTFS <----- the format type depends on a at least a few conditions, the one that I can remember is partition size. I believe 32G and above it HAS to be NTFS. But my point is, if you try and use any other partition that might come up on your list besides the one that BC made for you, it will probably error out (if you even get anywhere at all with it). Do you know FOR SURE that you chose the correct partition to format? This is the only other possibility that I can come up with at the present time. -
Export Messages from UC 2.1.2es20.1119-20
Is there a way to export message from UC 2.1 so that I can save them as .wav or similar format files and put them on media? I remember being able to do something similar using Unity 5 when it was integrated with Exchange, but I don't see any similar functionality in 2.1.
correct - 1.2 (Windows based) and 7.0(2) and later (Linux based) work with COBRAS - 2.x does not since it did not support super-user IMAP mailbox access which COBRAS uses to get messages out of mailboxes for users.

Creative Suite 2--invalid serial number message on Vista
I just got a new computer with Vista (64bit). I successfully installed Creative Suite 2--it accepted my serial number initially--but now when I go to open any of the programs, I get the prompt for name, company, and serial number. Each time, my serial number is rejected as invalid. (I've checked many times, and I'm positive I'm entering the correct serial number.)
I'm fine with purchasing the upgrade to 4, but I'm concerned that I'll buy it and it won't work. I assumed I would need to install 2 on my machine before I could upgrade, which is why I did it--even though I've read about problems running 2 on Vista.
Should I go ahead and get the Creative Suite 4 upgrade--and troubleshoot at that point if I have problems? I'm just worried about losing all that money if it doesn't work!
Thanks!http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/325/325739.html
The above references XP64 but also applies to Vista 64.
But you do not have to have CS2 installed to upgrade to CS4. Just have the disks and serial number handy. If you do upgrade make sure you install in the default location.

Problem importing and exporting files in Vista with 5.0
When I nsert my 1 GB card for an Adobe upload, it starts the process fine but about 1/2 way through it stops the upload and gives an error message "Cannot obtain all of the files from this device".
I am able to go ack and select the files which weren't uploaded and the process works fine.
I seem to be having the samee problem exporting to a removable disk. It only exportsd so many filkes and then it says it can't complete the process.
This problem is new with my Vista computer and 5.0. I have all the latest updates loaded.Chuck,
When was the last time you check for updates. There is one specifically for
Vista. Having said that, this doesn't really sound like a Vista issue.
You might want to post this in the technical issues forum.

It would seem a previous the regitry points PCSuite to install the 'lang' files from an old folder, and therefore cannot locate them. Can you make sure that this file 'PcSynch2_eng.nlr' is in the folder nokia\nokia pc suite\Lang and not in 'nokia pc suite 7' which it probably is. If so, create a folder 'nokia pc suite' (without the 7) and copy the contents of 'nokia pc suite 7' to it. It will resolve the issue.
