PC Suite not syncing with Vista Contacts

OK, somebody PLEASE help!
Here's the vital info:
Windows Vista Home Premuim
(no Servict Pack listed)
PC Suite Version 7
Nokia XpressMusic 5310
Connected via USB
Set to sync to Windows Calendar and Contacts
However, when I sync, I DON'T see ALL the contacts in Windows Contacts. They are visible from my PC Suite phonebook folder, but don't sync to my computer.
I see most contacts, just not all.
These contacts are NOT set to private. They are NOT being saved to the memory card. Some do have special characters(. @) but if I take those characters out, they STILL DON'T sync.
I've tried to find answers before, but no luck. ANYONE OUT THERE?

HI ohjones,
Please look out for contacts does it contains "\" symbols too on your phone, if so, kindly remove all the specail characters from your contacts and then try, as i do faced these sort of problem earlier

  • Why are my contacts on ipad not syncing with google contacts?

I am new to apple.  I cannot populate the Contacts
app on my iPad2.  I see no options to sync with google contacts.  Please advise.  Thanks!

Thanks Meg, this works, at least in part.  Now the Contacts app populated, but only with 99 contacts, hardly all of them.  Do you know how to get all my Google contacts to sync?
Also, should I delete the Gmail account I had previously set up on the iPad now that I have set up as an Exchange account?

  • Z10 does not sync with Google contacts

I've had my Z10 for about a week and am trying to set it up. I am trying, and failing, to replace an Android device with this phone. I used the easy setup for "Email, calendar, and contacts" to link the phone to my gmail/google account. That account has two-step verification enabled and the setup program duly collected the verification code. All three accounts got set up and populated with the latest from google.
But ..... if I make a change via a web browser on my PC (an up-to-date Arch Linux system), those changes simply don't get picked up by the phone, even with the sync interval set to 5 minutes. This is not a matter of not waiting long enough. It's a matter of sync not working. The phone does pick up new email messages arriving and new calendar entries.
If I try to change the sync interval, after the 'save', I'm told that my login credentials were not correct. After one of those episodes, I deleted the 'contact' account and added a new one, this time using the caldev approach under 'advanced settings'. This behaves the same way (except that it requires an application-specific password from Google, rather than honoring the fact that I'd already supplied a valid two-step code). Contacts get loaded as part of the account setup, but no further sync-ing happens.
I've wasted almost an entire day on this. Googling reveals plenty of other people complaining of the same problem and over a two-year time period. You would think that Blackberry, now the 90-pound weakling in the mobile hardware business, would pay careful attention to making their software work correctly with the largest purveyor of email, calendar and contacts. But they haven't.
It's too bad, because this system has a lot to recommend it (I am a retired computer professional and spent almost 50 years of my life developing software and managing large and small software projects and I am confident that I know good stuff when I see it, and much of this system *is* good). But my primary requirement is that the phone be a good organizational tool and if it ignores changes to my contacts, it's useless to me and I will return it and stick with the less elegant, but more functional Android, unless someone has a bright idea for how to fix this.

Well, I tried a workaround: use Link to sync the phone to Outlook. I just want a way to edit contacts with a computer and sync them with the phone, and very occasionally go the other way when circumstances require. You know, like we did with Palms 20 years ago?
What I found was that sync-ing contacts 1 way from device to computer produced no contacts in Outlook. Just utterly frustrated, I called the place where I bought it to try to get some help, they were clueless (and trying to call Blackberry is a waste of time; they won't talk to you unless you have a paid support contract), and so I asked for and got an RMA # and return label.
But still thinking about this, I poked around in the phone and noticed the BBLink accounts for calendar and contacts and thought "can it be that this system, which provides a nicety like Hub, which gives you an integrated, chronological view of *all* your communications -- calls, texts, emails, etc. -- be only sync-ing the BBLink accounts, not the Google accounts?". This is correct, difficult as it is to believe. So I exported my contacts from Google, imported them to Outlook, and did a 1-way sync from the computer to the device, and, mirabile dictu, the contacts showed up in the phone. After about an hour and half. Further synchronizations, done after some cleanup of my contacts were also very slow, though not this slow, since few contacts were actually being transferred in these incremental synchs.
Whoever wrote the synchronization part of Link clearly doesn't understand the concept of complexity of algorithms. (S)he also clearly didn't test this code on a contact data set of any significant size. I have about 1800 contacts. I had about the same number many years ago when I had a Palm that would sync an order of magnitude faster than this Blackberry setup and do so on much slower hardware with a slower communications channel (a serial port).
I also found that two-way synchronization produced some very odd messages, such as telling me that essentially all the contacts were in conflict. I abandoned the idea very quickly of ever trying a two-way sync (again, standard practice with Palms).
Link is clearly a crock, but I think I've coerced it into doing what I need. I have until the end of January to decide whether to keep the Z10, and as I said in my original post, there's a lot I like about this phone. So I will use that time to see if I really have found a workaround for this ridiculous synchronization weak spot.
    Hello,
I`m glad you figured out a way to do what you need to do. I have red before some other people having issues with BB Link and Outlook. I never used Outlook - I prefer Google account, which for me has worked very well, regardless what phone I use. It is true, it can take some time to sync in everything but for me it never took days as others have said.
However, once the huge amount of data is synched to your phone, you don`t need to worry about further time consuming synching.
Are you saying that synching with Google *contacts* works for you? In the sense that after you have the phone loaded up with all your Google contacts, if you make a change to the contacts with a web browser that the change appears in the phone? And vice-versa? Neither of those cases work for me. One wrinkle: I use two-step verification on my Google account. Do you? I am very suspicious that two-step verification is the cause of my issue with contacts synchronization (though, as I said in my original post, email and calendar synch do work).

  • Treo Pro will not sync with Vista SP1

I'm really hoping somebody can help me here.  I just replaced my aging 700p with the long-awaited Treo Pro (Sprint).  I've actually been looking forward to getting fully Windows-based, since my 700p syncing was routinely problematic - always having to do workarounds and plug in the cord just the right way, etc...
Let me try to give you the flow so far.
    I have Vista SP1
    I get Treo Pro
I plug Treo Pro into Vista, SP!, all ready to sync up my Outlook 2007 data.
Treo Pro fires up a very impressive looking installation routine.
Routine seemingly works fine - getting me to the point where you unplug and reconnect your device to do your first sync
I reconnect, and hear the Windows "USB connect" sound, then.... nothing.
I open WMDC and it says "not connected"
I open "USB to PC" on the Treo, and uncheck the "advanced networking" box as suggested by some other posts.
Windows sees the difference and installs a couple of other drivers.
Windows connects, gives me the "USB connect" sound, and WMDC says "not connected"
The Treo appears to attempt a sync, but finishes with a message "To synchronize this device, you must install ActiveSync 4.5 or newer on your desktop computer. "
HUH?  ActiveSync only works with XP - of course I can't install that!
By the way, I tried the same thing with my Vista SP1 laptop. Same exact results.
Also, at no time have I seen the WMDC icon in the tray area. (I remember having a Nino way back when, and the ActiveSync icon was down there)
I thought this was supposed to be easy - Windows PC, Windows device.  Piece of cake, right?  Not so.  If I cannot get this thing to connect, I'm getting a Centro! (not my first choice....)
A thought... any chance this could have to do with having Palm Hotsync still installed (from my Treo 700p)?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

On Windows XP, having HotSync installed didn't interference with using ActiveSync with a Treo 800w. This is not exactly the same as your setup, but close enough that I think HotSync is not likely to be the problem.
How did you install WMDC? The downloadable User Guide (PDF pp44-46) refers to running the PC Setup program. Did that part go as expected?
I don't use Vista, so I'm not familiar with the additional complications that might be involved...

  • Itunes would not sync with yahoo contacts - says no internet connection

Well, i guess i do have internet as i am writing this...After trying for long long time to sync with outlook with no luck at all, i wanted to try to sync iphone with yahoo address book. But every time i get the same message "yahoo could not connect-blah-blah-blah internet connection is not available"
Does anyone know how to fix that problem??? I've spent two days trying to make my dad's iphone to work...

OK; this is pretty flippin' funny. I hope an Apple geek stumbles over this and can carry the multiple levels of irony back to the hive.
I found this thread while searching for solutions to the same problem on my iPod touch. The strong sense of "duh, I am connected to the 'net" really. Goes double for you 'Phone guys.
You guys can't even leave the store without being connected to the 'net; right?
So the first bit of irony is that the sweet and helpful Apple (1) hasn't made the configuration requirement clear and, even more, (2) why it's an issue at all. These are computers; so they could just program it to insert the (painfully) missing "@yahoo.com" automatically. (Can I get a "hellooo?")
But the second bit of irony is that the "sync with Yahoo" procedure is tied exclusively to iTunes. (Need another, "hellooo?" here.) Too bad iPhones aren't autonomously connected to the 'net 24x7. Oh, wait....
I guess this is where Apple gets a reminder that they make the koolade in those commercials -- but they're not supposed to drink it too!

  • Zire 72s will not sync with Vista Home Premium

Hi, I tried to sync my Zire 72 with my PC and it wont work ....I am pretty bad with computers, so if anyone could help me (in simple terms please). I have no clue what I'm doing. Thanks
    Post relates to: Zire 72

To check to see if your computer is Bluetooth ready, a bluetooth icon will appear in the system tray or you can check for a bluetooth application in your control panel.
If you are unable to locate any bluetooth functions on your computer, you may want to contact your orignal manufacture of the computer to confirm. If you do not have bluetooth built into the computer you can still get the computer bluetooth enabled. To do this will require the purchase of a Bluetooth dongle. These dongles can be purchased at your local electronics stores (usually) or can be ordered on the web.
The Bluetooth dongle will connect to your computer via USB and allow bluetooth communication between your handheld and the computer. This will be the only way to sync your Zire to 64 bit Vista. All you need to do is pair your device with the bluetooth dongle then initial the hotsync from your device. You may need to try plugging the dongle into different USB ports if connection issues occur. For further information and instructions please visit kb.palm.com and look up article number 49229 in the solution id search field.

    Post relates to: Centro (Sprint)

I have a Centro/Verizon Wireless using Versamail with accounts established for personal POP and Exchange e-mail synchronization.  The latter account is for work.  Previously I owned a Treo 650p using Versamail.
When I first installed Palm OS Desktop and synched to my Centro device, it was on a Windows XP home computer, and no Versamail accounts were defined.  First I downloaded and installed the Versamail version which allowed Exchange synchronization.  I exported the Treo650p contacts list to a disk file, and imported it onto the Windows XP home computer into the Palm OS Desktop installed with the Centro-supplied CD.  This synched the imported contacts list to the Centro fine.  After I defined all the POP and Exchange accounts, synchronization with the office Exchange contacts list worked fine, and still does.  Synchronization with the windows XP home computer for contacts seems to still be ok, too regardless of the MS Exchange Versamail account commingling with my personal POP accounts.  Maybe the install sequence is overriding the previous posts' notation that MS Exchange mail definition will override synch with Palm OS Desktop?
The problem now is I have a different/second home computer that's Vista os.  I installed the Palm OS Desktop and synch with the Treo.  The contacts list is not synching to this second home computer, maybe because I didn't follow the exact same sequence as for the Windows XP pc?  I can still synch my Centro with my Windows XP pc and that includes contacts.
Is there a way on this second pc to override the MS Exchange contacts override for synchronization without having to go through the exact same install sequence as occurred on the Windows XP machine?

  • Internet Security Suite does not work with Vista 64 bit

After attempting to use the Chat Help, twice, and spending hours in queue before getting kicked off, I finally called Support to find out why my new Vista computer was not running the Internet Security Suite that I downloaded.  Yes, I found the link to "download to a second computer" and went thru all the steps.  Got lots of positive feedback: little bars were filling in letting me know I was 40%, 72%, 100% done, etc..  Was given a window allowing me to Run or Don't Run the software.  It all seemed to go very well.  However, when the "download and installation" was complete, there was no new software running anywhere on my computer.  Couldn't find it in the Control Panel, the Start menu, or the system tray.  Called Support and spent at least 30 minutes on the phone with a "technician" (and I use that term VERY loosely) who had to have major assistance from a co-worker before he could even start screen-sharing with me and, during the course of our time together, made the following brilliant remarks:
Upon seeing my desktop wallpaper (which is a lovely photo of some cliffs and a lake - and it came with Vista), he wanted to know what the picture was.  Not where it was taken, but just what it was.  His exact comment was "Does your screen always look like that?".  I had to dig deeper to determine if he was asking about a particular icon or some other computer related concern that he saw (he was "technical support", after all), but he was just asking about the stupid photo.
He couldn't find the Control Panel in the Start Menu until after trying several times, and then he couldn't navigate to the Programs area very well (I had to give verbal hints as to where it was), and his brilliant comment then was "I really need to go to my mom's house and get on her new laptop and try out Vista."  Can you believe that Verizon has technical support folks who have never used Vista?  It's not like Vista just came on the market yesterday!!
So, when he finally decided that he was not going to be able to help me, he didn't offer me any other recourse.  He just stated over and over that he was not sure how to solve this issue.  Oh, and this was after I re-downloaded ISS (again, "successfully").  I had to ask if there was someone else there who could possibly help me.  He offered to put me on hold (for the 2nd or 3rd time at this point) to check around.  When he returned to the phone, it was obvious that someone else was operating the mouse in the screen sharing mode because the operator moved confidentially around the screen and went immediately to system properties and saw that I am running Windows 64 bit.  The other operator then told my guy to tell me that ISS only works with Windows 32 bit.  Their final resolution was that I should call billing on Monday and end my subscription.  I think that may be the only good advice I was given that day.
So, am probably going to renew my trial version of Norton on this new computer and remove ISS from the laptop and put Norton on there as well.  Apparently, they are up to date with this fancy new technology.  At least they probably know about sophisticated and highly technical stuff like desktop wallpaper.

I have been trying to get somewhere with this Internet Security Suite...and now have come to the conclusion this is not going to work.  Now running Vista 64 bit, and have gotten nothing but the run around to try to complete the downloading of the program.  I've contacted Verizon Tech Support...then tell me that this works with the 64 bit but I need to contact Windows as there is a glitch and they give you the steps to get thru it.  Windows advises me to contact Verizon again as there are no problems with the OS.  Also have contacted Radialpoint and once again nothing...Obviously the Secuirty is not compatible with Vista 64 bit yet, which I just can't believe like you said...it's not like it was just yesterday this OS came out.  My frusteration comes from nobody steps up to take any responsibility as to what the problem is.  If it is not compatible yet then say so and not waste my whole weekend trying to get a straight answer.  I have other computers that I am currently using the service on and do like the program, but as for my Vista 64 bit looks like I may go to Macafee for protection.  It just amazes me as big as Verizon is and as popular this Vista has become they are not on the ball in keeping up with technology.

  • My icloud account does not sync with my iphone 4s. My contacts do not show up on icloud and I do have "contacts" turned on to backup

My icloud account does not sync with my iphone 4S. My contacts do not turn up on icloud and I do have "contacts" turned on in my phone.

Unchecking them won't help, it will only hide them from view.  The issue you're running into is that iCloud doesn't sync contacts from non-iCloud accounts like your exchange and Yahoo accounts.  In order to sync these with iCloud, you would need to copy them to the iCloud account and then disable contact syncing with these other accounts.  (If you didn't disable contacts syncing with these accounts, you would see duplicates of these contacts on your phone -- one from the external account, and one from iCloud.)  If you want to do this, do the following:
Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (any iCloud contacts will still be in iCloud).
Download the app My Contacts Backup.  (If you have more than 500 contacts to transfer from your other accounts you will need the “Pro” version.)  Use the app to back up the remaining contacts on your phone (from the other accounts) as a vCard attachment to an email that you send to yourself.  Confirm that you have received the email before proceeding to step 3.
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section), and confirm that this is set to iCloud.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars…tap your Yahoo and your exchange account and turn off contacts syncing with these accounts.  This will remove the contacts from these accounts from your phone.
Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the contacts from these accounts back to your phone, and to iCloud.  All your contacts should now be in iCloud and be visible on icloud.com.
