Hi All
I just purchased a Nokia 6300 and want to sync to my PC. When I run the software the messge on the bottom of the screen states " No phone connected" When I hit the Get connected button next to the message the connection wizzard opens, then I click next and an error message appears " No connection type available therefore connection to the phone cannot be established. The wizard will now close "
Can anyone help solve the problem
Gateway 1615, vista, pc suite 6.84.10.3, McAfee security enter, mozilla firefox browser,
Thanks
Cousinvinney

Success!
From the current and other comments I made it after 3 days efforts on and off!
This is the sequence of events from the start.
Start Point
A working earlier installation for a Nokia 6230i but which would do everything for my new Nokia 6300 except Sync (Menus greyed out.
Before doing anything else, make an image of your system partition (I use Acronis so you can restore the known working image if anything really goes wrong.
Downloading new versions for the new phone does not work fro this staring point! Don't even go there.
Step1
Uninstall PC Suite
Reboot your machine
Installing the new software will still not work yet. You will hit the Problem with Registry key(s) access.
You now need to delete all the REGISTRY KEYS associated with Nokia . They don't all have Nokia in the key name!
Go to the RUN box and type regedit
Browse HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes and right click and Delete every folder with Ncl at the start (e.g. NclPhonet)(I had 3 of them)and every Nokia entry (I had 1) and the Secure Platform key folder.
Exit regedit
Also, and this appeared to be the final problem I had which may have been left around from earlier aborted installs) in Windows Explorer go to ProgramFiles, and manually delete the PC_Comnectivity_Solutions folder (if it exists).
Now I installed from the CD provided with the Nokia 6300 phone and it installed without an issue and the bluetooth connection picked up the phone and BINGO the SYNC menu was not greyed out!
Phew!
All synced up now again and phone is usable!
Hope that helped.
I take no responsibility for any problems you may experience in trying to follow what I did, as my system my be different to yours , but the backup image should get you back to square 1 if you really mess up.
Cheers, and thanks to all the other guys on the blog for their hints.

  • PC Suite - no USB and Serial Connection Type avail...

I have been trying to solve this problem for days now. I have Windows XP and Nokia 5310. After I installed Nokia PC Suite, there is no USB or Serial connection type in the Connection Manager; it only has Blue Tooth and Infrared conection available. I have install and uninstalled PC suite and used PC Suite Cleaner to clean the installation. I also went into the add and remove program in the control panel and click on "change" to fix the Nokia Connection Manager and Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver. It still didn't work. The thing is that the first time when installed PC Suite on my laptop, it did have USB connection option. Later after uninstalled PC Suite and reinstalled it, it start to have this problem. I am extremly frustrated. Can anyone help please?

Thanks for your reply. I have solved the problem by following your instruction below:
Go to Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Software, there you need to uninstall all Nokia software (Nokia PC Suite, Nokia Cable driver, PC Connectivity Solution ...)
Download and run Nokia PC Suite Cleaner
    Reboot your computer
Download and install PC Suite here.
Connect your phone via USB cable (if possible use a different USB jack) and follow the instructions on the screen.
Maybe when I uninstalled Chinese version of PC suite, the order in which it was uninstalled was not the one you suggested above. So,I followed your instruction and uninstall order to uninstall PC Suite again. I also uninstalled all the antivirus, spyware, and firewall before I reinstall the PC Suite. It worked; then, I reinstalled all the other security software again after I had reinstalled the PC Suite. Although it worked, I still didn't know what exactly cause the problem the first place, PC Suite version, Security protection software, or the order which it was uninstalled? All it matters is it's working.

  • PC Suite says no connection types available - but ...

    I've a 6500 Slide. I've installed the latest PC Suite 7.0.8.2.
I have Windows XP with Service Pack 3.
I used to be able to connect with PC Suite and update (etc.) but recently, after the most recent PC Suite upgrade, it doesn't recognise 'CONNECTION TYPES' on my machine.
The USB cable and port work fine - in Windows I can drag and drop files.
So why won't PC Suite recognise the cable and allow me to use the mobile through PC Suite?
I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything twice.
I've removed batteries and SIM cards from the mobile etc.
    All help gratefully received.
    Thanks

  • No connection types available

What version of Windows is being used? WinXP Pro
What Service Pack is installed? SP2
What version of PC Suite is installed? 6.82.22.0
What is the connection method, cable, bluetooth or IR? cable
If you are getting an error message, it would be a good idea if you could let us know the exact error messa ge you are getting.
"There is no available connection type and therefore connection to the phone cannot be established."
"Failed to detect available connection types. Please reinstall Nokia Phone Suite"
and when i go to manage connections, I get:
"Connection to Nokia PC Suite failed. Please reinstall Nokia PC Suite (Code: InitIMediaControl2)
I've reinstalled several times but I still can't connect.

I sent an email about this to Nokia today. I will await a response. Here is the email in part as I am having the same issue and have tried EVERYTHING to resolve it to no avail. You'd think they would have resolved it by now after four months of the start of this thread:
****************** My Email to Tech *******************
My phone model is a Nokia 6265i. I'm running Windows Vista and using an authentic Nokia CA-53 cable. I have tried NUMEROUS times to connect my phone to my PC. I also tried connecting to my friend's computer (who is running XP with SP2). It wouldn't respond in XP either. I also tried purchasing a MiniSD card for the phone. It then at least acknowledged that there was some sort of connection to the PC, however the prompt I was getting was not that mentioned in the instructions (which I have read numerous times over, very carefully).
I got the prompt "Use phone as storage device?" with the options "OK" and "Exit." I have tried both responses while trying to connect to the PC Suite version 6.83.8.7 (downloaded on May 17, 2007) via the "Get Connected!" button and neither have worked. I have brought my phone to my service provider (Cricket Communications) to troubleshoot as well. None of my efforts have yielded any results. ANY results. I get absolutely no response from my PC whatsoever that anything has even been connected. Not even in the device manager or My Computer.
I have also tried two different cables. My last resort is to upgrade the phone firmware which is currently version:
    V HL100V1000.nep
    17-05-06
    RM-66
    (c)NMP
listed in exactly that way on the phone. But I do not believe this should be a problem. Or perhaps something is wrong with the phone itself, but I do not see how that could be either.
I have not made some stupid simple mistake such as plugging in the cable during installation either. I have been through this numerous times, with & without Nokia tech support via phone.
I am STRONGLY inclined to blame the software. I think that PC Suite 6.83.8.7 is not as Vista compatible (or XP for that matter) as stated on the download site.

  • Problem configuring PC Suite - "There is no availa...

    Hi
I've just changed from an ancient Nokia 7110e (using Fonesync 4 on my Windows/XP laptop and built in infrared link)to a 7250i.
I downloaded PCSuite 6.6.18 from the Nokia website and installed it without apparent problems. However the "Get Connected" wizard exits with the above message and "Failed to detect available connection types! Please reinstall Nokia PC Suite".
Nokia Connection Manager produces "Cannot use the media modules. Please reinstall Nokia PC Suite (Code:MMListEmpty)".
I've deinstalled and reinstall a large number of times both from the "Uninstall option" and from WIndows settings. I've downloaded and run (several times) Nokia PC Suite Cleaner 3.1 (and tried all of the settings!). I've deinstalled FOnesync and rebooted. I've tried registering the IR .dll using regserv32 (as suggested elsewhere). I've even tried installing on a desktop PC also running XP Pro SP1 - but this produced exactly the same result.
I'm now out of ideas. Can anyone suggest other avenues to explore? Please! (I should adde that the IR port on my IBM Thinkpad T41 works fine and detects the phone. It worked perfectly with Fonesync 4.0)

    Hello everyone,
For the life of me I can not figure out what went wrong here. This all worked before. Ive tried everything I can think of and alot of the solutions on the forums but they either dont work or dont seem to be applicable. The software says no connection types available.
    Technical Info:
I am running windows XP SP3, and PC Suite version 6.86.9.3.
    Trying to connect using bluetooth.
    Phone is a Nokia 6133
    Phone bluetooth settings:
    Bluetooth = ON
Phone Visibility = show to all
    ===================================================================
    Steps taken:
    1. Pair the phone with PC, Pairs fine
    2. Open the PC Suite software and try to establish a connection
It keeps displaying a window that says "problems with infrared connection", which I am not using. Im trying to use bluetooth. I close that window and behind it is another window that says "Get Connected" and has some option selections of Cable Connection, Infrared Connection and bluetooth connection, **ALL OF THEM* are grayed out and unselectable.
As a side note im now realizing this is a new problem after uninstalling the software, deleteing all the registry key's and then re-installing.
But like I said, I dont understand why there is even a problem, this all worked fine 3 weeks ago when I last used it. The only possible thing I can think that might have changes is there have been a few Microsoft updates.

  • Nokia PC Suite finds no connection types

    Hi,
first of all, the link to the PC Suite FAQ in the sticky thread at the top of the forum is broken.
I have a recurring problem with every version of PC Suite I installed during the previous 6 months on my Win XP Pro SP3 machine: When PC Suite is installed, everything works fine, but after some reboots, from one day to another, suddenly there are no more connection types available. Normally, you can select three connections types: cable, infrared, or bluetooth. All three are greyed out, and remain unselectable.
Reinstalling the Nokia cable driver doesn't help, repairing PC Suite doesn't either. I have to completely deinstall PCSuite, run PC Suite cleaner, reboot my PC, install everything from scratch, and then it works again for some days. During the last six months, I had to do this procedure 8 times.
Something seems to be terribly broken with PC Suite, at least on this very configuration. What can I do to prevent this? The version of PC Suite always is the latest one available when this error occurred, and I did a reinstallation.

As per one of my friends suggestion,
    Just Go to "services.msc"
Search for a service called Servicelayer and Make it start automatically
Now Your PC Suite or Ovi Suite will detect the connections in your PC..

  • No Connection Type for the 10g app server in jdev 11?

how to i connect to a 10g app sever in jdev. there is no connect type for 10g which one if any should i use?
    thanks
    Neil

There is no direct connection to OAS 10g - note that ADF 11g applications can't be deployed to OAS 10g as they require Java EE 5.0 support.
You can create EAR/WAR files from JDeveloper and use Ant to deploy to OAS 10g or use the OAS 10g management console to deploy those files.

  • PC Suite - there is no available connection type

    OK,
I'm running XP SP2 on an IBM t30 laptop. Looking to have all 3 connection methods available. Bluetooth is Widcomm 3.0.x and PC Suite version is 6.8.22.
Initially installed PC Suite fine, but had problems with getting bluetooth connection (IRComm and Cable were fine). Read that best way round this was the reinstall after doing some fiddling with the bluetooth setup. Duly reinstalled, only now I get error when I start the connection manager or manage connections. either "there is no available connection type" for the first or "connection to PC suite failed code:Init IMediaControl2".
In order to try and deal with this I have, Uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Uninstalled the app and run the PC Suite cleanup tool 3.3 reinstalled the app. Uninstalled the app, run PC suite cleanup, removed all nokia keys from the registry, run cleanup again and reinstalled. The problem persists, my patience does not.
    Help?
    Dom

My experience may also be relevant, and since it took me two whole days to remedy it (call me slow, but I'm persistent), I'll share it. I too stopped being able to get a Bluetooth connection in PC Suite, even though the PC could see the phone (6230) in Bluetooth settings and I could see some of the folders on the phone.
I uninstalled and reinstalled PC Suite countless times, did all the spring cleaning I was told to do, nothing. So I thought maybe there is a problem with the Bluetooth stack.
I have a Dell Inspiron 6000, which uses Bluetooth stuff from Toshiba, so I went to their site, http://aps.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/. It said to check out Device Manager, and, what do you know, all the Toshiba Bluetooth drivers were missing. I have no idea how, but anyway, I downloaded a new stack at http://aps.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/pages/download.php
I installed it, cross my fingers, prayed to the Bluetooth Fairy, and YES YES YES! It works. The end.

  • "There is no available connection type...."

I'm running Vista Home Premium 6, Service pack 1.
I got a Nokia 6300 and installed PC Suite from the disc included. There was an option to install the latest update but I decided to just install the disc version.
When I hooked up the phone with the USB cable, the phone responded with "Select mode." However PC Suite did not recognize any phone connected so could not progress.
(I asked the service person at the store where I purchased the phone and he said it's because I haven't made the right settings therefore the computer can't recognize the phone. But I couldn't even get to the point where settings are made!)
I uninstalled PC Suite, then reinstalled, but downloaded the latest version - English 7.0.9.2. It all installed fine, and I clicked the "Click here to connect a phone" button. When I clicked the "next" button in the window that opened, I got the following message:
"There is no available connection type and therefore connection to phone cannot be established. The wizard will exit."
I uninstalled and tried it again, but with the same result. When I close PC Suite, I can't open it again unless I right click and choose "Run as Administrator."
One note - the subsequent installations went much more quickly than the initial one, so I think there are things that were not removed with the uninstall.
Hopefully someone can help me solve this....? Thanks in advance.

It depends on what iPhone you have.
If it's an iPhone 4S or earlier, click here.
If it's an iPhone 5, you need to buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD, and that requires an Intel Mac with at least 1GB RAM.
