PC Suite will not install - detects old Nokia Cabl...

Hello
I am trying to install the latest version of PC Suite (downloaded yesterday) as I have come back to a Nokia phone (a new 5070) after some time with another brand. However, I can't get it to install - it fails every time with a message:
"Another version of Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver has been detected. Please remove it before continuing"
Unfortunately, I can't find any way to remove the old driver, as I can't find it on my system anywhere! Even under the Windows Uninstaller, I can see an entry, but am not given an uninstall option! I suspect that I have some part left from a previous uninstall, but there now seems no way to purge it from my system.
I'm using a standard PC with Windows XP SP2
Thanks for any help - this is really frustrating!
Ian

Hi Ian
You perhaps need to go to microsoft.com and download Windows Installer Cleanip Utility "msicuu2.exe"
Go to Start > Programs > Windows Installer Cleanup Utility
When you run this it looks a bit like the add/remove program window. Now select "Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver" and "PC Connectivity Solution" programs.
Now go back to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and try and remove "Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver" and the "PC Connectivity Solution" programs. They should now uninstall.
Reboot your PC

The latest version is Nokia Suite 3.8.48. Anyway, before you install that, please, install the Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver because that is even newer as the version which comes with the current Nokia Suite. Did that help, already? Otherwise we have to go the next steps …

    3. click mouse's right-button and select "Permissions" from menu.

    5. select key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MPAPI.CallControlMP.4\CLSID and repeat step 3 and 4 also to that key...

  • Charter Security Suite will not install even after they removed my existing antivirus

This is important to me because I am a quadriplegic who relies on my laptop to connect me to the world outside my bed aND MY SMART TV for entertainment.I tried unsuccessfully to load Charter Security Suite,  I then contacted Charter tech support on 7/30 who took me through gotoassist - He confirmed that I had no existing antivirus on my laptop. He took down my firewall and again was unsuccessful at downloading Charter Security Suite. After that time I get a warning my computer has no antivirus and my windows 7 computer is unable to get automatic updates. He told me he would report the problem and I could expect a call from 24 to 72 hours from F-SECURE.I did not receive the promised call. i don't know if he did something to my computer that made anything better, but my situation is definitely worse after uninstalluing the working version of macafee. But I am really worried after he said, "It is not a real big deal, just don't go to any weird websites!" Now that I am vulnerable, i AM VERY CONCERNED AND HAVE NOT HEARD FROM F-SECURE ABOUT RESOLVING MY ISSUES AND SUBSEQUENT CHARTER TECH SUPPORT CALLS HAVE NOT RESOLVED MY ISSUES. ps - I'm getting two red flag notices since 7/30 - one regarding my lack of antivirus, and one telling me windows could not automatically check for updates! HELPDaniel.

Hi Daniel, Sorry you're having hassle with this.  I'm not familiar with the Charter Suite, but I assume from what you've said, it's a rebranding of F-Secure, so the advice I am suggesting below is based on that premise. The guy who said it's "not a big deal" having no anti virus was probably just trying to put your mind at rest, but in essence, he does have a point that if you stick to known safe websites, don't open any unexpected email attachments, and don't click on any popups, banner ads, or anything else which may look suspect, you should be fairly safe, as viruses don't tend to just appear out of nowhere, without any interaction from the user.  That said, while this issue is ongoing, I would suggest that you download Malwarebytes and have that running as a backup.  This is compatible with F-Secure so shouldn't cause any further installation issues, and will hopefully give you some piece of mind. The next thing I would suggest is to download and run the full McAfee uninstaller, which you should find linked to on this page of Uninstallation Tools. Once you have run the tool, then run the F-Secure Uninstallation Tool to fully remove any part installations of F-Secure, and try your installation again. As I said, the above is based on the assumption that Charter is the same as F-Secure in all but name - if this is incorrect, then I apologise in advance for any mis-information, but I don't think any of the above will do any additional harm to your computer. Let us know how you get on.

  • PC Suite will not install

I have tried off the CD and the latest update (7.0.9.2) on the internet. It always comes up at about 27% in Step 5/8 that "An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.MFC,processor/Architecture="x86",pu Please refer to Help and Support for more information"
Just so you know Help and Support does NOT offer more information for my problem...

It's perhaps caused by a mess of different versions of those .NET components.
There's a discussion on msdn forum on this problem. But clean-everything-then-reinstall solution is not quite applicable.

Eduardo Alejandro Lazo what specific error do you receive when trying to apply the update?
I would also recommend checking the installation logs for the updates you are attempting to apply for errors.  You can find details on how to locate and interpret the installation log files at Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html.  You are welcome to post any specific errors you discover to this discussion.

  • HT201375 Has anyone found a solution to the "Mavericks will not install new fonts" Issue? Has apple even admitted it yet?

Question is simple enough, Oh and by the way, my system is NOT what this forum page has decided to tell me that it is (no way evident to change it).

    Hi Arthur,
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
    1. I am glad your Mavericks doesn't have the problem. I am sure there are a lot of Mavericks out there that don't have the problem, and yes, you are correct, I, along with ALL of the other people that are complaing of this problem all over the internet, including this support forum itself, are having problems with our own Mavericks installations.
    2. Agreed, Apple doesn't have a good track record of admitting to the bugs in its Operationg Systems, but don't worry, Microsoft is just as bad. Technology is about making money after all.
    3. Thanks for the instructions for updating my profile.
    4. I took the precaution of removing all of my data from this machine. and wiped its harddrive.
I did a fresh install of Snow Leopard (the OS it came with), upgraded to Mountain Lion, and then upgraded to Mavericks before doing anything at all to the machine, and before installing anything on it.
So with this Fresh, brand new install of Mavericks (I dont trust upgrades - for good reason) I installed Open Office, Adobe Creative Suit CS6, Google Chrome, Filezilla, Firefox and Thunderbird, and Microsoft Remote Desktop client.
    That's it.
The font that will not install is any of the fonts from the Univers family.
We have had this font in our office for the seven years I have worked there. It installs fine on all Macs from Tiger (10.4) to Mountain Lion (10.8) (I have just finished tesing this on a number of these machines).
We have one other mavericks machine but this font was already installed on it when it was upgraded from Mountain Lion to Mavericks so it works.

This is a lot more information than has been provided by almost all of the other posts on all the forums I have been reading about this problem, and most of the posts have a lot of people chiming in saying,
"It works fine for me, so it must not be a problem".
Not a lot of help has been forthcoming for the others in this same situation that I have been reading of, and most are resorting to Third Party Programs in an attempt to get fonts installed, all with varying degrees of success.
I am not willing to use a third party program to do something the operationg system should be able to do itself.
I have tried pasting the fonts themselves into all of the various fonts folders in the OS, to no avail.
I will be very interested to hear what you make of the information I have supplied.
Thank you again for your reply. I look forward to hearing back from you.

  • Bridge CS3 will not install

My Bridge CS3 will not install on my new Intel duo core iMac.  It worked on my earlier iMac, but when PhotoshopCS3 was moved and installed on the new one, Bridge was nowhere to be seen.  I have repaired permisisons, reinstalled PS CS3, and looked for Internet advice.
I would really like to continue to have the Bridge in the CS3.
Am I  going to have to rely on my new Lightroom Developer for its Camera RAW functions and for renaming my files?  I liked the Bridge RAW converter very much.  The old Bridge is still on my machine, but its renaming functions don't suit me at all,  and for some reason it is refusing to open my non-RAW files.

I still advocate Repairing Permissions (with Apple's Disk Utility) before AND after any system update or upgrade, as well as before AND after installing any software that requires an installer that asks for your password.
I have seen software installations go sour because the installer did not find everything as and where it should be.  I have also seen software installations go bad because the installer did not clean up after itself properly and did not leave everything as and where it should be.  This is just my own personal opinion and practice based on my own observations.
Others may disagree and that's OK. I can only base my routines and my advice to others on my own experience and conclusion. I don't pretend to know why others believe otherwise.  Note that this suggestion begins with "I still advocate…", not "Apple recommends…".
Repairing Permissions after the fact (i. e. not immediately before and after an install) may NOT help.  Try it anyway, though.
====       Additionally,  if your machine does not run 24/7 so that it runs the daily, weekly and monthly Cron Scripts in the middle of the night as intended by Apple, run Cocktail (shareware) as well.
Cron Scripts are maintenance routines designed by Apple to run on a daily, weekly and monthly basis in the middle of the night.  If you don't run them, you WILL run into trouble, sooner rather than later.
Here's an excerpt from the Apple tech doc http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107388  Mac OS X performs background maintenance tasks at certain times if the computer is not in sleep mode. If your computer is shut down or in sleep at the designated times, the maintenance does not occur. In that case, you may want or need to run these manually.
Mac OS X periodically runs background tasks that, in part, remove system files that are no longer needed. This includes purging older information from log files or deleting certain temporary items. These tasks do not run if the computer is shut down or in sleep mode. If the tasks do not run, it is possible that certain log files (such as system.log) may become very large. Also, from:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106978
The disk activity generated by find is a normal part of file system maintenance, used for tasks such as removing invisible temporary files that are used by the system. It is scheduled to occur early in the morning at 03:15 everyday, 04:30 on Saturdays, and 05:30 on the first day of each month.
NOTE: There have been comments to the effect that Apple "fixed" this in 10.4.2 and later versions of the OS, but I have not been able to verify this to my satisfaction.  The reference in the 10.4.2 release notes are far from explicit on this subject.    Other, more reliable reports indicate that this seems to have been fixed in the current version of Leopard.
In any event, Repairing Permissions and/or running the Cron Scripts cannot hurt.
If you have DiskWarrior, run it regularly too.  It can't hurt either, and it often improves stability and performance.
