PC Suite + Windows 2000

I dont know if anyone will be able to help but i was wondering when the support for windows 2000 was removed from the pc suite application and why nokia chose to do this?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Many large firms still use Windows 2000 and I think it is a bad mistake to drop the support for it.
I got a new E66 business phone. I installed the PC Suite which came with the phone to my business laptop which has windows 2000 professional. But I cannot upgrade the E66 by using this PC Suite because it is not supported on this operating system.
Every time I start my laptop I get a message that PC Suite has updates availble. After downloading the update it end because this operating system is not supported.
From the net I can find PC Suite versions 7.0.7.0 and 7.0.8.2 which are claimed to support Windows 2000. After downloading these 34 meg packets the installation ends to a message "this operating system is not supported".
This sucks.

  • Windows 2000 and Nokia Cable Drivers and PC Suite

Appears Nokia does not support Windows 2k. Even though their web page states the USB Cable CA-101 driver, Nokia_Connectivity_Cable_Driver_rel_7_0_2_0_eng.msi, per their line "Nokia Cable Driver for Windows 2000, XP and Vista" on the web page says so. frustrating. Already aware that PC Suite version 7 is not supported in Win2k.
Is there a driver out there for the USB Cable CA-101 that will connect to the phone running Windows 2000? and allow at least the sd memory card be accessed for data transfer and other functions? thank you.

    Hi exergonico,
Which device are you using?  Do you have CD that came along with your device?  Could you please Search(Google) for Nokia PC Suite 6.85 or 6.86 nokia pc suite version and install on your pc to check this issue?

However, the device specific version doesn't support Windows 7. So I am stuck. Is there a workaround to either force the device-specific version to work on Win7 of get the 6600 to work with the normal PC Suite?
Sure you can. Install in XP compatibility mode as admin.

  • Sendmail on linux and oracle colloboration suite on windows 2000

    Hello
I am new to Oracle collaboration suite .We just want to know ,how we can implement sendmail on linux server on a seperate machine and Oracle collaboration suite on windows 2000 on a different machine.Whether it is possible or not if yes then what are the steps to be taken for this,I mean how we can go for it.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Maddie,
=> Phsyical DataGuard supports different platforms, but not different versions. So no option.
=> Logical Standby => while supporting different versions of database, it hat platform restrictions. So especially with 10g is not an option as well
=> GoldenGate is probably the way to go, but unfortunately not a cost free option. But would ideally support what you expect.
=> Streams might be possible as well...

  • Oracle BI Suite 10.1.3.2.0 does not install on Windows 2000

    hi all,
I downloaded the two zip files from Oracle site and extracted on d:\biee.
    I launched the setup.exe program under d:\orabiee\Windows\Server\Oracle_Business_Intelligence.
I specified the Complete installation and after creating the OracleBI folder, the installation hungs without any message.
I checked out the install.log file and I found this entry:
    STACK_TRACE: 7
    com.installshield.util.ProcessExecException: CreateProcess: C:\orabiee\OracleBI\oc4j_bi\bin\oc4j.cmd -start error=3
         at com.installshield.util.ProcessExec.executeProcess(ProcessExec.java:180)

         at com.siebel.analytics.install.ExecWizardActionCustom.run(ExecWizardActionCustom.java:79)
         at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
As a matter of fact, the C:\orabiee\OracleBI\oc4j_bi\bin folder does not exist (and, of course neither the oc4j.cmd program).
    Is there any path/workaround?
    Thanx in advance
    Viking

    Hi Viking
First things first. Here are some things to consider:
    1. If using Windows 2000, you need to be using Windows 2000 Professional with SP4.
    2. You should not have any other Oracle software running during this install.
    3. You also not have ORACLE_HOME, TNS_ADMIN or any of the other Oracle environment variables set.
    4. You need to be a local administrator on the machine.
    5. You should not have a firewall enabled.
    6. You need to have a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) set for the machine.
    7. The FQDN should be set in the HOSTS file which you can find in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
    8. You need to check the certification matrix for 10.1.3.2.0 and make sure it is available for Windows 2000 and that there are no other prerequisites?
    Does any of this help?
    Regards
    Michael

  • Oracle 8.1.7 for Unix and Windows 2000 Active Directory

Is it possible to integrate the users and passwords of an Oracle Database running on Solaris with the users and passwords defined in a Windows 2000 Active Directory? What are the requirements and the necesary steps?
I've read the documentation and it shows how to do it if you install Oracle in a Windows 2000 Server, but it does not mention about installing it in any kind of Unix.

You should consider to base your firm security and central user repository on REALLY SECURE and ROBUST product technology. Not on Windows 2000 Active Directory. Win2K AD is known to be slow and insecure. If you have Oracle on Solaris your data is secure and next step is to move user accounts to real user repository. It may be one of well-known LDAP servers. Try to read some materials on CERT Coordination Center (http://www.cert.org) which describe LDAP servers. After this you can choose the server which best suite your needs.

  • Help Windows 2000 and Zen4GB is

Well, I goofed, purchased a (non-returnable) refurbished 4GB Zen and have Windows 2000. I read the specs and that page did not list the OS needed. I am certain many others have had this problem as 2000 is pretty common, and don't know why Creative hasn't handled this software issue, does anyone know how to hook up the Zen 4GB with Windows 2000?

Winamp is a program similar to iTunes that helps you to manage your music on your computer and then sync the music to your device. You can download it for free (just Google Winamp) or there is a Pro version for a small one-off payment. It supports Windows 2000. There's a wealth of information on the website, including a Help section, FAQ and a User Forum. As the program is open-source, it supports plug-ins which modify the software to suit a user's needs - you may be able to find a plug-in in order to use your Zen with it. I use it as I personally prefer it to Creative's own offering and find it'sa powerful but easy program to use.
MediaMonkey is a similar program although I haven't used it personally. Google it and you can download it for free. It has the plug-ins already installed to be able to detect and sync most MP3 players. It is supports Windows 2000 (in fact it supports Windows 95!).
    Hope this helps!

  • Reports Builder doesn't start in Windows 2000

    Hi all,
i've installed Oracle Developer Suite 10g on Windows 2000 Pro (SP4). Installation procedure ends succesfully, but when i try to launch Reports Builder the process rwbuilder hangs up.
    Someone can help me?
    Thanks. Matteo.

Hi Jon, thank you for your support.
I've stopped my scan virus, but the process rwbuilder still hangs up...and my path name doesn't contains any spaces!
    Other ideas?
I've installed Developer Suite 10g and Enterprise Manager 10g in the same machine, but in different Oracle Home and the only Reports Builder doesn't work...the other applications (SqlPlus, Forms Builder etc..) works fine!

  • "Program Error" (aka. Dr. Watson) on Windows 2000

I took one old computer with NT4, updated it successfully to Windows 2000, installed Service Pack 4 and IE 6.01 + several security updates.
However, PC Suite 6.82.21 does not work at all. The "Get Connected" window shown after the installation disappears immediately, and trying to start any PC Suite application (but Music Manager) generates a "Program Error". E.g.
LaunchApplicati.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.
I have tried to uninstall and clean the PC with the PC Suite cleaner several times (all possible options tried) but without any difference. I also tested PC Suite 5.8, and it generates program errors, too (but its icon appeared in the status area before crash, 6.82 failed to run even so far).
Although it is an old computer, the PC Suite 6.82 system requirements are fulfilled easily:
Available hard disk space: 200 MB (file size approx 25 MB) (yes)
Operating system: Windows 2000 (service pack 4) (yes)
Connection methods: USB cable, infrared, or Bluetooth (USB cable, yes)
Has anyone had a similar problem with the PC Suite? - I cannot find any other reason for the problem than that the PC Suite has some undocumented extra system requirements that are not fullfileed on that old computer. But what?
Edit: I tried to monitor the LaunchApplication with RegMon and FileMon but I could not find anything that could cause the crash. The logs are attached...Message Edited by panuworld2 on 07-Dec-2006

I have been mailing with Nokia support for months already if they should indicate in their system requirements that some specific processor type or speed is required for PC suite.
Currently Nokia support continues to claim that the reason for the crashes is "lacking resouces" on my computer. I cannot believe it because the same computer runs MS Office and SeaMonkey well, with reasonable speed. - What is the quality of PC Suite if it _crashes_ fatally if e.g. the processor speed is too slow? - And why do not they then tell that it will not work on computers slower that ?
I looked the crash dump with windbg and it tells the following:
    (114.448): Illegal instruction - code c000001d (!!! second chance !!!)

The crash reason is illegal instruction. LaunchApplication is trying to execute an MMX command (movd mm1) on my non-MMX processor!! Why Nokia does not inform that an MMX-capable processor is required for PC Suite?
I cannot understand that "the lack of resources" of my computer causes PC Suite to use MMX commands which crashes my non-MMX computer. Can anyone explain this relation between MMX-commands contained in PC Suite and the speed (not processor type) of my computer?
(I emphasize that according to Nokia, the reason is "the lack of resources" of the computer, NOT the processor type (non-MMX).)

Could anybody help us to understand what happened? We have Symantec 11 Client in this server.
Best Regards and thanks in advance.

    I see that the process
Rtvscan.exe is highlighted in the dump. This belongs to Symantec: http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/process/rtvscan.exe.html
Also, I see multiple access violation errors.
Please note that Windows Server 2000 is no longer supported by Microsoft. However, this OS version seems to be supported for the Symantec Version you use. If the problem gets reproduced again then I would recommend removing Symantec AV and trying again.
If this fixes the issue then you might want to contact Symantec Support for assistance.

  • N86 and Windows 2000

My new N86 8MP came with a CD with OVI Suite software ( a Help file implies version 1.1).  This says it is compatible with Windows XP (SP2) or later.  My own OS is Windows 2000 Pro.
Is there any known software I can download that will permit info exchange and compatibility between the N86 and Microsoft's Windows 2000?  Am I best to try to sell the N86 and try another phone?

Surely the most sensible option would be to update your computer to an OS that was released in this century?   You'll struggle to find a modern phone that still has full support for that old OS!
Time moves on and eventually support has to end for old products.
Even with an unsupported OS you can still transfer files to the phone using bluetooth (if your PC has bluetooth). You could also try online services for managing your phone such as ovi.com.

  • Sharepoint access for Windows XP & Windows 2000 workstations

We just had an outside vendor upgrade our MAC environment. A 10.4.3 X server was installed and a sharepoint setup for our marketing department. All of the MACs and Windows XP workstations can access the sharepoint without any issues but if a Windows 2000 workstation attempts to access the sharepoint they are prompted to authenticate but there domain UserID & Password do not work. If the users go to a Windows XP workstation they can access the sharepoint properly. What do I need to configure to allow our Windows 2000 workstations to connect properly to the X Server sharepoint?
    Thanks

I recently did a clean install of Win7 Ult on my X61 7676A24, and this is the only Lenovo software that I could not find a Win 7 solution for. However,
    1. I was able to load WinDVD8 upgrade (from Lenovo's Win7 information page) after first loading the WinDVD5 version that was the last good release for Vista.
    2. The Multimedia Center for Think Offerings is basically Roxio's suite for writing cd/dvd's, drag to disc and so on.
Since I could not load this anyway, I was forced to try out Win7's inbuilt cd/dvd writing - it works perfectly well.  Even better, Win7 natively supports an excellent ISO burning tool. So, I think if you explore these inbuilt tools, you can probably live without the Mul Cent for Think Off.
