Pc to Mac - Gaming on a mini

Hello, I'm totally new to the Mac world and love the look of it. I've been a PC user for a decade and would like to make the switch, and mainly because I want a machine to do work (print and web design) and less gaming. BUT I would like to be able to play my Steam games and other pc games.
I've heard about Bootcamp and wondered if on a Mac, it would run the games much better than on a native PC. I've heard that some games run better on a bootcamp/Mac OS/System, is this true?
The games I play are:
Company of Heroes ALOT
Bad Company 2
Half Life 2
Thanks for Listening. I hope to purchase the new Mac Mini soon.

A Mac using BootCamp to run Windows means the Mac is really running Windows literally just like a real PC. with BootCamp the Windows is not running in an emulator, or virtualisation engines it is 100% real unadulterated Windows. In theory a Mac of the same specification as a PC i.e. with the same speed chips etc. should run Windows at the same speed as a real PC. However real PCs usually are shipped with lots of bloatware which clogs up the PC and slows it down. If you yourself install a fresh copy of Windows on a Mac via BootCamp it will not come with all that bloatware. As a result the Mac might in fact feel faster than an otherwise identical speed PC.
If you ran Windows on a Mac via Parallels, or VMWare then these are virtualisation solutions. They have the advantage that you can then simultaneously run both Mac and Windows applications but the Windows applications will not run as fast as BootCamp which is Windows only. Games are very demanding so BootCamp is probably the best approach.
If you are going to be running games on this Mac mini you should make sure you choose the slightly higher spec model with the AMD video chip.

Nobody but you sees that photo, it does not appear on outgoing emails.
To remove the picture rather than change it, open Address Book and select your personal card, then from the menubar select Card > Clear Custom Image. Now the system will use Apple’s generic user picture in the login window and System Preferences’ Accounts pane. Mail and Address Book will remain blank until you designate a new picture in Address Book or System Preferences > Accounts.

If it there is a backup you will find in in ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup.  (Just open Finder>Go>Go To Folder..., past this in the path box and click Go.)

  • Can I transfer my email in outlook on my macbook pro (windows for mac) onto my ipad mini?Help!?

can I transfer my email in outlook on my macbook pro (windows for mac) onto my ipad mini?Help!?

Outlook is an email client and that does not indicate if your email is POP or IMAP. If you have an IMAP email account, all of your emails actions will automatically sync across your devices. If you have POP, it does not work that way.
If you are asking if you can transfer the current emails on the Mac onto the iPad, no you cannot, unless the email is an IMAP account and they can download onto the iPad again from the server.

  • Mac gaming, why bother?

    Hello
So as the spec of even entry level machines including Macs are ever increasing, any new computer is now viable as a games machine. To this end I've been Googling "Mac gaming" and sure enough there's lots of Mac gaming going on including ports of big PC and console hits from specialist companies. In fact I'm half way through BioShock Inifinite and it's awesome.
So far so good ... but ... isn't "Mac gaming" a bit of a misnomer? Because if you go and install Windows on a partition with Boot Camp and use that for your gaming then you're in the world of PC gaming aren't you? Not just Mac gaming!
So that's the question - if you install a Windows partition on an Intel Mac you can just play Windows games as normal no?

That's true :-). Games have never been the most important part of OS X, but recently companies are developing more and more games for OS X, which has been increased by the Steam for Mac release.
Anyway, I still do not recommend Macs if you just want one to play games, because there are cheaper PCs with better GPUs to run games, but it is true that iMacs and Mac Pros have got better GPUs than in the past that make them a good alternative to PCs.

Of course, always that the iMac meets your game requirements.
If you want to install Windows on a Mac, one tip: update the GPU drivers. Apple provides old GPU drivers that may not work with the best performance. Instead, I recommend you to go to the NVIDIA or ATI website (depending on the GPU brand your iMac has got) and install the latest driver

  • I have Photoshop CC 2014 on my Mac and cannot find Mini-bridge under file, window or in the online add-ons.

Was Mini-Bridge discontinued in Photoshop CC2014? It is not under the file or Window menus. I cannot find it under add-ons on line. I have a Mac, is that why I'm not seeing it? Any help would be very useful.

    Yes.
See Photoshop: Spring Cleaning | PHOTOSHOP.COM BLOG
    "Mini Bridge
Mini-Bridge is an Extension Panel using Flash and therefore must be removed now that Flash is no longer supported in Photoshop. Bridge CC remains available as a stand-alone file browser application for designers and photographers needing to browse non-photographic file formats.
Lightroom, which is available with Creative Cloud and the Photoshop Photography Program, is an alternative for photographers as a way to work with multiple photos and hand them off to Photoshop for additional processing."

I just added a new mac mini to my home network. File and screen sharing is on, so is back to my mac. The mini can see the other shared macs on the network,

Well, I just rebooted my mac pro and now I can see the mini.
Not sure what changed, but it apears to be working now.

Only the late 27" iMac's support input for use as a display with another system that has MiniDisplay Port output.
You might be able to use > ScreenRecycler, however I'm not sure how your going to set it up without a display for the Mac Mini.

  • How can i change the setting on a mac from someone i bought a Mac pro from to mine?

I recently bought a Mac Pro from a friend of mine who's used t for some months. I want to change the System name and other settings such as app Store, calendars etc to my own profile as i still see his name come up all the time. i cannot update Apps on the store as it keeps asking me for his password.
    please help!

Do you mean you have a Macbook Pro (laptop) versus a Mac Pro (desktop)?
You can back up the MBP, restart using Command+R to boot into the Mavericks Recovery HD, erase the Mactintosh HD and Reinstall OS X. Then you can go through setup and configure it with your information and Apple ID. Mavericks should not prompt you for an Apple ID when it goes through the install since that OS is free.
One thing you might want to consider is asking the previous owner to unregister the MBP from his Apple ID if he previously registered it. Then you can register it under your Apple ID.
The previous owner should have wiped it clean and reinstalled the OS that came pre-installed before selling it.

  • What is the price of new screen for mac air 11'', coz mine is broken

what is the price of new screen for mac air 11'' in singapore, coz mine is broken, the lcd crashd, whatever

You may have to check local official authorized Apple service providers for a price or estimate on the cost of repair parts and labor; there may be other companies than those officially listed in the locator page here http://www.apple.com/sg/service/ in the Singapore area, that can do the job. Be wary of those not Authorized or Certified, since these may not use the correct parts or may not be properly trained in the repair procedure.
In the case of a computer still under offiical original or extended Apple warranty, when accidental damages cause need for a repair, be sure to get the damage fixed in an authorized repair facility so as to keep the remainder of the offiical warranty in effect. Unofficial repairs by unqualified persons can void the remainder of a factory warranty; while the damage may not be covered at all, the rest of the computer could retain coverage if it is repaired correctly using Apple trained and authorized service personnel and original equipment parts.
So, be sure if you find a shop that can do a repair, that it won't make matters worse by performing inexact or  sub-par service; and if the computer no longer has an official warranty on the remainder of the unit (outside of the accidental damages not covered anyway) you may be able to find a good display, new or used, and have another service company replace the one in your MB/Air. Depending on what build year-model MB/Air 11" you have, the parts may vary; so be sure to research whoever can do this job, so it may be done correctly.
There are independent authorized Apple repair agents with certified technicians who use correct parts, so maybe you can find one in your region; at least to initially research the costs involved in restoring the MB/Air.
Not sure which model you have, but for something out of warranty or damaged in a way to no longer be covered, you may see what may be involved in doing a repair or parts swap, yourself; the following may be helpful in restoring this model.Or give you an idea, should it be too technical for a DIY fix.
